Being favoured isn't always a gift

Ashes has a slight realisation and starts to rethink a few things but life will only grow more complicated due to a meddlesome Deity that cant help but interfere~
Notes at end

Erebus hid in Ashes scarf while the baybones looked through the market, his ears twitching with every new sound and kept getting distracted by all the new scents he could now perceive.

He had never imagined this would be his fate when the crazy monster kidnapped him but it wasnt as bad as he expected, truly having thought he would have ended as a pile of dust due to how mercurial Error's moods were.

He and his new master were still clueless what exactly his species was capable of and it was very much a work in progress, a tad embarrassed he had nearly lunged at a few monsters as their magic which he was still confused he could now smell had smelt absolutely delicious.

Ashes hadnt seem that bothered and even commiserated with him, it only raising more red flags about this odd babybones and still having many things he wanted to address but annoyingly Ashes kept brushing his concerns away.

Their constant morbid humour and the many muttered comments about 'succeeding next time' when talking about their death had baffled him and just knew he was going to have to keep a close eye on his new master as the emotions that came off them were rather alarming.

The new odd bond between them was practically muffled right now as soon as they both realised it existed, mainly as he became quickly overwhelmed and even more concerned at Ashes's heavy emotions, unsure how a child could feel such things.

"Hmm, should i get the pasta or noodles? They both look so good..."

...One thing Erebus knew for sure was that his new master was weird, their priorities odd and watched from his hiding place in their scarf at the amount of food they bought, before they inevitably moved onto the next AU and repeated the process again.

He wasnt sure how they were storing all this stuff in their Inventory and it looked more like they were preparing for war then simply getting some essentials and doing the smart thing of running as far from that insane Error as possible.

He hadnt asked too many questions about that yet as it quickly seemed to set Ashes off, his ears still ringing from the last rant and still mortified at all the terrible language the babybones knew, barely able to hold back the urge to scold them yet again.

"Hmm, that should be good for our trip. Perfect timing as it seems this place is about to collapse. Error truly is terrible at coding...or just forgetful and very insane. Im not discounting both options"

Ashes muttered mainly to himself when he saw signs of the AU distorting, jumping into the AntiVoid just before it collapsed and bracing his..friend? who was yowling quite loudly at the sudden move. He was buffeted in the face by the small wings and tail, quickly holding them to his chest to calm them down, briefly forgetting not everyone was used to his sort of travel.

It was going to be odd having a companion with him, realising he wouldn't be alone anymore as he continued his search to try and get out of these seemingly endless loops. He held the small kitten sized creature and tried to sooth them as they trembled, carefully covering them with his cloak he bought, to block out the sight of the pure white surroundings.

It seems he was growing rather forgetful in his old age and wasnt that a weird thing to think and briefly remembered that normal people had far different reactions to certain things. He had just become so numb over the years that it became easy to forget how it used to feel like in his first life, feeling an uncomfortable pang in his Soul at the possibility of becoming anything like his creepy stalker and careful using people like they were simple toys.

Had he truly changed that much over the many millennia...?

It was a bit of a horrifying thought to think that in his quest to finally cease to exist he lost some of himself as while he still wanted to die, he never wanted to turn into people like his first set of 'parents', something he had promised himself long ago.

He stared down at the small ball of fluff, gently stroking the gradient blue wings and just spent a moment actually thinking and not just trying to distract himself from this still horrifying thought that he accidently turned a monster into some sort of animal.

He began truly thinking on his next plan and sighing when he realised he would need to put actual thought into it and not just wing it as he now had a companion with him.

It was a good thing that Error was kind of incompetent with planning, as even the 'cage' for this multiverse that he assumed was to keep him in, was riddled with holes that looked like a rush job then anything solid.

Not to mention that this multiverse was getting a bit on his nerves, the positivity near drowning and while he might not be a normal Nightmare it seems this body was still sensitive to things like that.

He didnt think too hard on where he wanted to go next, trusting his magic as he let it form the portal and filled with a long forgotten determination for something not only his goal but maybe to try and be more aware and live a little!

...while also avoiding his stalker of course, having a feeling that wouldn't be as easy as he thought or wished, hoping the second time was the charm and he wouldn't be forced to play house anytime soon.

He felt a shiver run down his spine, like something had happened that would make life even harder but Erebus meows distracted him, that thought soon far out of his mind.

——

Error's facade of calm broke when he went back to the AU his moonlight had been in, the quaint cottage evaporating with his unleashed magic, feeling his mind break further with the loss of his precious moon yet again.

His cursing turned into maniacal laughter, letting his magic loose in what felt like a very long time as more of his sanity snapped at having them out of his reach and sight once again. His smile grew unhinged, stumbling almost like a drunk through the multiverse with little care who he encountered, his eyelights swirling with madness and only a single goal in mind to find them again.

Monsters cried out as they fell to his hand, his laughter ringing out like he was having the best time and even causing a Deity to smile in delight as they watched the 'show', a sort of fondness growing for the Error whose mind had been deteriorating since the monsters creation which only made the being smile wilder.

The destruction was so beautiful~

Chaos thought it reminded him of the gods long forgotten, especially of his last favoured monster who he still missed even after millennia, it was almost like seeing them reborn.

Chaos knew he technically wasnt supposed to 'directly' interfere but its not like he ever cared, giving a slight push and a shove in the right direction to his current entertainment, looking forward to how his gift will be used.

He couldnt help but also give an extra gift to the Error and in the middle of Error's mindless rampage whispered a name into the wind that imprinted onto their very Soul, curious how their story would progress from here.

'Dionysus'

Let your Destruction run free and may your insanity bring much more entertainment~

Notes:

Erebus: *Embarrassed when he is held back for once again trying to eat someone's magic* Im sorry! I didn't mean to

Erebus: *Many more red flags rising up, growing even more worried about the babybones*...are you ok?

-

Ashes: *Humming while prancing between AU's and jumping into the AntiVoid like its a simple holiday destination like its normal*

Erebus: *Internally screaming at all the unnatural magic use*

Ashes: *Having a long overdue revelation he might not be as normal as he thought as he watches Erebus had a mini breakdown* maybe I should work on that....

-

Ashes: *Letting his magic take him where he wants*

*In a far off multiverse*

Ccino: *Pausing in his tending to a new kitten with odd Soul shaped eyes*..why do i feel life is going to get much more complicated soon?

404: *Bursting through the doors of the tenth cat cafe* Sun?! Are you here?! Where has my child gone?!

-

Deities: *Watching Ashes life and Error's breakdown like it's a tv show*

Chaos: *Amused by Error and giving them a little push and blessing* How fun. It seems my current chosen truly attracts the best monsters. Lets see how Ashes reacts to this~
