I walked out of the underground shed. Josh following close behind. I met the rest of the guys halfway to the cars.

"Take these, and only two vehicles this time." I handed each of the guys my weapons.

"Dude! These are sick." The leader of the gang said.

"Yes they are, but they're only for a last line of defense."

As we drove down the road, avoiding small fires, we looked for the cause of this mayhem. The fire in the center of the city was beginning to spread rapidly outwards. Thankfully most of the kids, and teens had left.

Both trucks stopped. I got out if my truck, and everyone else followed suit. The air outside was dryer than usual, and very hot. As the fire got slightly closer the sound picked up drastically.

"We need to stop that fire!" I screamed, I wasn't even sure if anyone had heard me over the roar if the fire.

"How?" Josh yelled back. Even though he was only a few feet away from me, he sounded like miles.

"Find some fire trucks. Use those against it."

Josh hurried to comply. Five other people went with him. Only leaving Dave, The leader of the gang, and myself.

As soon as the Trucks left us, I began to feel something dark pressing in, and around us. I loaded my cross-slingshot. The others followed suit.

Two pairs of beady red eyes appeared in the fire. Two massive beasts void of any light walked towards us. Any people left scattered in terror as they saw the monsters.

"What is that!" Dave screamed.

The gang leader began to take a few steps back. "It's just our imaginations, it's gotta be."

"If we are all seeing this then it's one heck of an imagination!" I fired a few shots at it. The ammunition went straight through it. "I'm thinking its more of a demon!"

"Or a shadow..." Dave whispered.

The fire grew around the shadow / demon like animal. The orange flames licking the darkness of their massive legs. I ran to the truck as the lights went out.

Once I got to it, I rummaged through the glove box. A few seconds latter I found what I wanted. A extremely bright flashlight.
