Chapter 19

Then....

At the other side of the station -

"If I knew this would happen, I wouldn't have let her go out that night." The man said.

"We just thought she would come back sooner or later. Or even at least give us a call about her whereabouts and well-being." The woman said.

"When is the last time you have seen your daughter?" Susan questions them.

"Second May. I remember really clearly that day, the wind was cold, and the dark night sky didn't look good either" The man said.

Apparently, while researching more on the victims whereabout. A pair of couples suddenly came in, led by a rookie police officer. The couple is none other than Mandy's parents, themselves.

"Simon tried calling her friends after we told him what happened." Her father told the two.

"Then why didn't you tell us on that day?" Susan asks them.

"Well... you see. Mandy usually will sometimes be posted to another town for like a month or two, by her company. Or if she has time, she will go to town to visit my older sister there for like a few months." Her mum said.

"She is very close to one of her cousins, who is also a psychologist. She also has a few girl-friends there." Her dad add on.

"Yes, yes. Her closest friend is the other young lady who was killed." Her mum told them.

"Sally O' Dillar you mean?" Ri-Huan asks, to clarify on the information given to them.

The couple nodded.

"What happened then?" Susan continues to question the two.

"We thought she was just going to visit Sally that very night, afterwards go visit her aunt.... However it was until the next day when she didn't give us a call or text, we started to worry about her. As she will always give us a text or call when she reaches her said destination." Her mum said.

"After that we tried calling her phone but there aren"t any signals either. Then that's where we got panicked and wanted to tell the police about it, however it is not yet twenty-four hours, so we can't really file a missing person case." Her dad finishes.

" The next day I called my older sister to ask her about Sally, to our dismay she is not there either," she said, with a sad sigh.

"When you came to us that day, and we heard about her death. We are devastated. Just like that.... we lost our child." The father said.

"Are there any places your daughter will go often? Ri-Huan asks the two.

"We won't interfere much as we know Mandy is always a good daughter. She is our child, and we know her well too." Her mum explained.

"And she is a working adult now. Is her freedom, we have no right to interfere too. We will occasionally give her advice when needed but not interfere with her life. As we already know most of her friends are quite safe too.... so we just didn't ask much about what she does outside." Her dad concluded.

The both of them listen as the rather old couple talk.

"Besides going to her aunt's place and hanging out with her friends... Does she have anywhere to live, out of town?" Susan asks them.

"Uhm... as you can see I mentioned earlier she is often posted to another town for her work, so she actually rented an apartment there.... as her workplace is far from home too, so that area is kind of both nearer to her posted workplace and current workplace..." Her mum said.

"I see...."

"Do you have the address to her other apartment?" Ri-Huan asks them.

"Yes.

"Autumn leaf Condominium level 10 unit 4, the key is under the flower pot. "

"Is it ok, if we do a search on her rented apartment and her current bedroom?" Susan asks them, as she doesn't want to be like those police officers that just do a warrant search on the other party without respecting their privacy.

"Yes please. We really want to know what happened to Mandy on that night." Her father pleaded.

Soon they wrap up the conversation and once again give their condolence to the old couple...
