07. A Peep into the Darkness

In sleepless nights, I have been haunted,
Haunted by the universal fears,
Fears fearful due to the abstractness of their manifestation,
The vagueness of their explanation,
As authors have penned through the centuries,
Penned about the diabolical path
And whose name ought not be uttered,
From fear or notions,
I know not,
Or is it just the blindness of the mind or the frightfulness of the soul,
That which restraints
us and makes us feeble,
Feeble to confront the unknown?
Join me on this ride through the darkest of streets,
The streets blanketed with filth, dust and grime,
Join me to get deafened by the sound of silence,
The sound of eternal tranquility,
The streets where protesting is a crime,
For that is what they say,
Have you ever explored those uncharted lands,
The dingiest part of your mind,
Ballooned with sins, avarice and lust,
The devilish part of your mind?
The unsolved maize that forever may remain so,
For the society wants so,
For the society wishes to tarnish, devour and sacrifice its fellow inhabitants,
To quench its own thirst!
But would it ever be quenched?
I know not.
Like the windows before my eyes,
It too does remain draped with curtains,
Curtains which do not allow the moonlight to clear all the reluctance and dilemma,
Those curtains of hypocrisy;
Let us but now remove those curtains and cease this unbearable suffocation,
And let the moonlight get induced into our sight to illuminate those streets,
And help us judge the world in its unsullied light.

****

The society is the darkest place in the world, for the devil exists nowhere else but within our very own mind; it lurks in those dark and silent parts of the society where justice does not prevail but what prevails is contempt, disgust, avarice and the devil waits there, waiting with bated breath, waiting for the moment when men would perish in the fire kindled by themselves, and the whole world would have to pay the price.
This poem is an endeavour to awaken the long-forgotten Voice of Conscience.....And the message is to end all those evil practises of nepotism, bribery and injustice and to judge the world in the pure unsullied light of Conscience.....
