Part 23
-Your Pov-
Waking up in the morning, you turn your head over and then smile slightly when you see Summer and Yang cuddled up to each other. Sitting up, you then gently move out of the bed doing the best you can not to wake either of them up before you put the covers over them the best you can, before making your way into the kitchen. Turning on the coffee machine, you then stand there and wait for a little bit, and then you stare out the window as you try to gather a coherent thought. Eventually, your pour your cup of coffee, and then look out the window some more as you drink slowly.
A little bit passes, and then Summer comes into the room, holding Yang. She gives you a slight smile, and then begins to get the bottle of milk ready for Yang. Neither of you manage to say anything to each other for a little bit, until she was the first to break the silence. " I changed her diaper already. I called Qrow and Morrigan here a little bit ago to watch her for a little bit. Do you mind if the two of us talk when that happens," asked Summer.
Sighing a little bit, you take Yang into your arms, and then she smiles at you. Smiling back, you kiss her forehead, and then you look up at Summer with a soft smile, thankful she was the one to start the conversation. " Of course we can talk Summer. We were partners at Beacon for four years after all. You can tell me anything you need," you say simply, and then you continue to drink your coffee as you sit down at the table. Summer nods and smiles at this, and then takes Yang back and begins to feed her.
An hour or so passes, and then the door opens and Qrow and Morrigan walks in. You look up at them confused, wondering how they were able to get it. " Summer gave us a spare copy of the key when you were gone, so we could come and help if anything happened," explained Qrow and then he smiled and took his niece into his arms, and then he looks at you and Summer. " If you need anything, give us a call. We'll be right across the street," Qrow promised, and then he walked out with Morrigan, smiling slightly on her way out.
You then sit with Summer at the table, neither of you wanting to be the one to start the conversation since it might be a little while before you know how you want to say it. " I uh, I didn't want to tell Yang I was her mother. I know how important it is for you, for all of us to find Raven, and I don't want to even try to take her place to either of you, a mother or a wife," Summer says, which makes you smile slightly.
" I appreciate what you did for us, and what you're doing now. The truth of it is, I am not ready to be a single parent. Hell, Raven and I between the two of us had no idea how to be parents and we had no idea how he were going to figure it out. And you're a natural at it. Raven and I always did talk about how you were going to make an amazing parent when the time came. I mean hell, we had you down as Yang's godmother in case something happened to the two of us. I guess we just never thought what might happen is her leaving."
Summer nods and then looks down at her coffee cup for a little bit with a sigh. " I uh, I need to tell you something," she admits, causing you to look up at her a little bit curiously. " A few days before Raven left, she came to me. She was crying. I didn't get a lot of information from her, since she left too quickly for me to be able to ask her anything. But she asked me to take care of you and Yang. It was like she knew she was going to leave."
You don't know what you want to do with that information. A part of you wants to be mad at you for not telling you, and be mad that she kept this from you. Another part of you knows how hard that had to have been for her to keep that from you. But, another and the biggest part of you feels like it's your fault for not having been able to pick up on the obvious that Raven wanted to leave. " Back to the tribe probably," you manage to say eventually. " I guess she had her mind made up on it for some time."
Summer sighed sadly and reached out and took your hands in hers, which shocked you a little bit. " It didn't look like it was easy for her (y/n). In fact, it looked like it was literally ripping her apart inside. I know that doesn't make it right or anything like that, but I know if I had to leave a family with you, then it would have been impossible for me," Summer said with a little bit of a smile. " And you don't have to do this alone. I am here with you, no matter what."
Nodding and smiling at her in return, you then rub the back of your head. You then notice Summer biting her lip a little bit nervously about something, and then you look at her, wondering what that's about. Before you can think about it all that much, she then moves her hands to the back of your head, and then starts to pull you closer as she leans to meet you. Before you can think about it or do anything to stop her, she kisses you deeply, which you find yourself melting into it after a bit.
( let me know what you thought)
