-Your Pov-

A loud shriek pierces the early morning tranquility, and then you sit up rubbing your head in pain. Qrow looks like he's on the verge of pained tears, a hangover never mixes well with loud noises. Raven is also starting to sit up, wiping the sleep from her eyes. Looking over to see the source of the noise, you see Summer with a whistle danging from her neck as she stands in a triumphant pose. Other times, you might have been annoyed when someone wakes you up this early, and yet it's Summer Rose. Lately, she seemed to have been so down about something, but never would tell you when you asked which was weird, since she was usually pretty big on partners telling each other everything. So, it's a welcome change to see her so full of life again, even if she is using that to wake you all up ridiculously early in the morning.

" Whoever bought you that whistle made a mistake," you mutter as you roll out of your bed and then begin to get dressed. When you say this, Summer playfully glares at you.

" It was you who bought me this whistle remember," she says, and then you try to think back. " We went to the store because I needed Dust, and then we saw the whistle at the store, we wondered what it was doing there, until he told us it can use Dust to amplify how loud it is, and I said I wanted it, and you bought it for me."

You chuckled when she mentions this, finally realizing that it had indeed been you who bought her the whistle, and now you saw the error of your ways. " What in the hell did you wake us up so early for," asks Qrow, only now managing to have gotten past the ringing hangover he must have had.

" Did you forget already? Today is the day our team gets to go on our very first mission," she says, getting more and more excited as she continues to talk. " They're asking all the teams to go to the auditorium and sign up for missions, and I wanna go early so we can get a really good one."

" It's 5 in the morning," Qrow protests. " Classes don't start until 9, and that would mean we have a lot of time before any of the good missions are taken. I'm going back to bed." When he says this, Summer places the whistle back to her lips, and then blows it again, causing all of you to recoil with pain, although Qrow is hurt the worst by it once again.

" I want to go now," Summer says, somewhat childishly. " I want to make sure we have first pick of missions. If we go later, then we might get stuck on some really lame one, like finding a missing cat or something. Please guys?" Before any of you can argue, she does her best to sniffle, and then make her eyes water, begging with her eyes.

" Damn it, why does that always work on me," you mutter as you begin to put on your shirt to get ready to head down to the auditorium with her. Qrow and Raven make fun of you for not being able to resist it, and then Summer looks at the both of them, and you can see them visibly struggling to resist it as well, before cursing and going to change for the day.

As you head down to the auditorium, you take the chance to smile at Raven, and then she offers a small smile in return. The two of you pass one of the many advertisements for the dance, and you tilt your head when you see it, and then you make a note to yourself to ask Raven to the dance when the two of you get back from the mission.

-Summer Pov-

Walking down to the auditorium, I can't help but be happy. Part of it is needing to put on a show to my team, especially since I don't want (y/n) to know he's the reason why I've been so sad lately. I will admit when he asked me about it, it was hard for me to keep myself composed. All I had wanted to do was cry and bury myself into his chest and let him explain everything to me.

But, I took a few days to try and get over it, and I think it worked. Although, I still look away when Raven and him engage in their flirtations, I can deal with the thought of the two of them together, even though it still does a hurt a little bit, although a part of me is really happy for them, and another part of me is really still curious as to how they went from wanting to kill each other to flirting.

We make it to the auditorium, and then I wave to our friends, Morrigan, Kian, Arlan and John. Well, I wave at them, and then Qrow and (y/) are almost instantly in a fight with Morrigan and Arlan, and Kian and Raven just stand on opposite ends of the room glaring at each other. As this happens, John and I go to pick a mission, and then sigh when we see our teams have to be dragged apart by an instructor.

" Huh, this one looks kind of neat," he says. " Apparently some portal opened up in this one town, and Grimm have been flooding out of it ever since. They want some huntsman to go and see if they can close the portal, and if not contain the Grimm."

He and I begin to read some more of the details, but then both decide this is the mission we want to go on. Before we have to decide who will get this mission, we notice that it says on the form that two teams are required to go. He and I smile at each other, and then look over to see our teams arguing with each other, and then I smile as we accept the mission. This is going to be interesting to say the least.
