16 | Eavesdropping
Uncomprehensible murmurs
Turned into careless whispers.
And as Eve roamed the halls
While the leaves prepared to fall
She dropped off her dignity,
Dropped off her soul which left her body.
Now, she can listen, but just as she did
She had to endure it instead of flee.
Eve's dropping tears onto the floor,
And they flow down forevermore.
Eve's crown dropped off her head
After she overheard what they said.
"Eve's so naive, Eve's so foolish
She still has many studies to finish.
And does the father even know?
How will she ever make it on her own?"
Eve's so afraid, she's terrified
Of what might happen with her life
And their words did nothing
Except hurt and bruise and sting.
So Eve's dropping her habit
Of constant eavesdropping.
Who needs words, she whispers,
That make you doubt your worth?
