Chapter 38 - The Devils meet her Brother

Dawnson's and Julie's eyes glinted evilly as it reminded me of my highschool times. I still recalled how Julie cut down my bra straps and my uniform when I was in the toilet. I was having a shower because Julie's minions pushed me in the mud. I couldn't go out as my bag was in the classroom and I stayed in the bathroom, crying until the last bell rang. I went to my classroom in my towel after the security closed the main gate. I called mom and dad and they came with the principal along with my clothes. Although she got suspended for 2 weeks, she didn't stop.

And Dawnson. He was worse. He always secretly put chewing gum on my chair or on my hair. I had to cut my hair small and it was humiliating. It went down after Fred became my boyfriend. But before that, my years were horrible.

Callahan and the others must have sensed the stiffness in my body as Callahan asked with a smile, "Carson, are they your friends?" And he captured their attention.

I didn't say anything as I was still thinking of all those moments.

"Oh! Such a nice car you got there." Miory got into the conversation, capturing their attention again.

Dawnson smirked. "Yes, my dad recently bought it."

Julie's eyes narrowed down at Miory as Miory looked like a runaway model with perfect style and perfect taste in cars. Then her eyes went toward Droy and Droy winked at her which brought pinkness on her cheeks but it also agitated Dawnson as he glared at her. But then his attention turned toward Miory.

"Eww. Disappointing. I was thinking you bought it." Miory rolled her eyes and closed the window glasses of her car. "Let's go Carson, we are getting hungry here."

Both of them stayed still as their mind tried to register what happened.

When Miory started the engine, I realized the traffic signal had turned green. I advanced and noticed Callahan flicked his hand and then a series of curses could be heard from our behind.

I looked through the side mirror and saw smoke rising from Dawnson's car as Julie shouted at him and he was cursing at her too. Not to mention, the other cars behind them cursed at them as well.

I gasped at that and looked at Callahan whose lips twitched and I looked at Miory who was already grinning. I looked at Gretarioth and Droy and they bore straight faces as if they had no clue.

"Don't cause trouble!" I said.

"Who caused trouble?" All four of them asked together.

"What did you guys do there?" I asked as I kept my hands on the wheel.

"Nothing just used a bit seducing charm on that girl." Droy said and I glared at him as he added, "and maybe malfunctioned the sensors."

"Nothing, just a puncher." Gretarioth said, "all four wheels." I glared at him.

"Nothing just broke the alternator." Miory said and I glared at her now.

"Oh! I broke the motor." Now we all looked at Callahan.

Oh man! What am I gonna do with these devils!? It meant they had to replace a lot of things and the car he was using was an expensive one.

"It would cost a lot!" I said.

Callahan shrugged and then we all broke into laughter.

We were entering our town and my eyes found a small house and a small shop was attached to it. I smiled because I used to come here to buy manga. I stopped the car as Miory followed me.

"Is there something wrong?" Miory asked.

"No. I haven't met her in years. Coming right back." I said and hopped out of the car.

As I entered, my eyes followed the store and saw the old lady still sitting on the same corner of the shop. The shop owner. She never sat on the counter. "Aunty!" I said and at first, she didn't recognise me but as she did, she came near me with a wide smile.

"Oh my god! Carson! You grew so much!" She hugged me and I hugged back. She was the one who introduced me to manga.

"How many years has it been?" She asked.

"8 years."

"Oh! I thought you wouldn't come back." I shook my head.

"I would eventually."

Then her eyes followed behind me and I turned my head. Callahan and others stood there and they greeted her too as I said, "They are my friends."

"Oh! Please sit." Her old legs slowly got another chair as Callahan took it from her and said, "Can't let a lady do this. Can I?"

The old lady laughed as she slapped on his arms because she hardly reached his chest. "Oh, who is this young man?"

"I am Carson's boyfriend." Callahan answered as the lady clapped her hands with happiness and winked at me. "You got a good taste."

A gap formed in my mouth as I blushed.

I introduced her to others and the old lady called her grandchildren who came and gave all of us juices. Free juices. Since I had been bullied often I used to come here for manga and she used to treat me with free juices.

This place, this hometown brought a lot of memories. While some were bad, some were extremely good. Callahan and others kept entertaining them as laughter filled the air and I could only look at them and smile to myself.

"Alright! We have to go now." I said and the lady took my hands and said, "Glad you are doing well, Carson. I can see you are very happy."

I nodded.

We got back to our car but this time, Callahan took the keys even though I shouted then begged, he didn't give me. I sulked on the passenger seat and saw Miory was the same but instead of sulking, she was yelling at Gretarioth. And Gretarioth... was ignoring her like she didn't exist.

"You don't even know the route!"

"Carson, I am a devil. I know everything." He said smiling which irked me more.

I looked behind at Droy who shrugged. Apparently, he was accustomed so he never went against him because he knew Callahan wouldn't listen.

We reached our house and saw that my mom and dad hadn't arrived yet. The door was locked and I knew where they kept the key. I went to the yard and in an old pipeline, the key was.

"Seriously? You guys keep your keys like that?" Gretarioth asked, scoffing. "Anyone can get into the house."

"Can't help. We don't know when or who will come and nobody might not be at home. So, better keep it that way." I said and unlocked the door. "Don't worry, nobody has ever gotten into the hou-"

And there stood a boy just behind the door. We looked at him and he looked at us.

"Is this McAllen's house?" I asked because I didn't know who he was and I was confused if we entered the right house.

"Err... Yes." He said.

"Who are you?" I asked as a scoff came from behind me.

I looked back and it seemed they were narrowing down their gazes at me as if saying 'you were saying?'.

We heard a sound of wheels entering the front yard and we all looked behind. It was Andrew.

"Hey!" He came near greeting all of us as Gretarioth, Droy, Miory and Callahan said 'hi' then he looked at the boy. The boy seemed to be scared as he said, "I-I cleaned everything."

"I see. Good work." Andrew smiled and said, "Now, go back because your brother might have broken the new car."

The boy gasped and left immediately.

"Err... Who was he?" I asked.

"Dawnson's younger brother." He answered and my eyes popped out of my sockets. Callahan and others seemed to be pleased as they bore grins on their faces.

I heard Callahan whispering, "I might make him my right hand man someday."

I glared at him.

"What?! What was he doing here?" We all entered as Andrew gave all of us water.

"Please sit. You guys are tired." He said to them and answered, "He was cleaning the whole house."

"Why?"

Andrew sighed heavily as if he was irritated now. "You ask too many questions."

"Then answer in long sentences!"

He groaned. "He was helping that's all."

"Okay?" I looked at him suspiciously. "He doesn't seem to be like his brother I guess."

"Oh no!" Andrew shook his head, "He is far more...good." Then he mumbled, "and obedient."

"What?" I asked and heard Callahan chuckling. And not only him, Gretarioth, Droy and Miory seemed very amused by him. Their eyes glinted evilly.

Callahan portrayed a proud smug and said, "He has all the qualities for a devil."

A gap formed in my mouth. What!

I was still suspicious as to why Dawnson's brother would come and help in cleaning a house but it seemed Callahan had heard what Andrew was thinking. So, I might just ask him.

"And why would I tell you?" Callahan asked from the couch when Andrew went to the kitchen.

"Why not? It seems fishy."

"It is his problem. Don't interfere." He said, making me shut.

Well, I knew it was his problem but what if Andrew was bullying him? He had seen me suffering because of Dawnson but I hoped he wasn't taking any revenge or anything.

"No. He is not taking any revenge. He is just doing what needs to be done." Callahan smirked and my suspicions grew more.

Gretarioth smirked, "He is smart."

Droy said, "I like this kid."

Miory said, "Can't wait until he grows up."

Callahan agreed as he nodded at them.

Okay. So they could know what was happening with my brother yet I was the sister yet I couldn't know! That was so unfair! Besides what was so amusing?

I went to the kitchen and saw Andrew was making us lunch. "When did you learn to cook?" I was a bit surprised.

"I knew it, just didn't do it." He replied as I helped him.

"So, you are by any chance, not bullying Dawnson's brother right?" I asked, making sure it would not irritate him.

Andrew gave me a look and asked, "Is that what you think of me? A bully?" His eyes portrayed hurt and I felt bad at charging him without getting the truth.

"What no! I was just asking." I went near him and said, "I am sorry."

"No, it's okay." Andrew's shoulders hung as he said, "He was bullying me and he turned out to be worse than Dawnson."

I gasped. "What? Then why did he come here? To bully you?"

Andrew shook his head and said, "No. It is just that I gave the principal all those proofs that he has been taking advantage of his father's clerical office keys and duplicating the question papers. He has been suspended for 2 months."

A gap formed in my mouth. That was hideous! He was certainly worse.

"But what does this have to do with cleaning our house?" I asked.

"He has another secret and I just told him if he doesn't listen to me, I will give the principal the rest of the proof." He answered and took all the plates to the table and called them.

"Let's have lunch. Mom and dad will be late." He called.

I nodded and then I shouted behind Andrew when I realized what he was doing, "That is literally a blackmail!"

Andrew took his seat and I took mine as he said, "No. It is not."

"It is!"

"It is just I am helping him that's all." He added, "I even asked the principal to lessen his punishment if he starts working as a representative of 'The helper of the society'."

"And society means this house?"

"Yes, of course."

And all the devils laughed. I scowled at them as I put the meat in my mouth. Honestly, what was wrong with them? Especially with my brother?

He seemed more...calm and calculative and gentlemanly yet he gave off a weird vibe as if he was hiding something. Or maybe, I was just a bit over acting since I still see him as a little child.

I sighed. Maybe I should just let him handle it but if he did something wrong I would surely stop him.
