A/N special update for my lovely inky_jin
"Jack Sparrow?!" Somang laughed, shaking her head at one of his ridiculous jokes. She placed two folders onto his desk. "What's wrong with having him as your comfort character?"
San rolled his eyes playfully, a smile curving his lips upwards. It's been a full whole month since Somang had started working for San and things have been moving smoothly. He doesn't give her much work to do and in the end the two chat endlessly about random topics. During lunch time, San always eats with her in the office or takes her out.
During the whole duration of the month, San had dropped subtle hints here and there that he sort of knew what was going on but Somang hadn't picked up on any of it. He would seldomly bring up what she's been doing these years and watch as Somang drifts the conversation elsewhere, he doesn't fight it and goes with the flow.
Soon, Somang will come to trust him again. Just like all those years ago when the two were basically inseparable. But his last straw had approached when one day Somang walked into his office to greet him; San was on the phone and hadn't glanced up yet even as she placed his itinerary on his desk. He got a glimpse of her pale white wrist and as she shifted back, so did the sleeve of her sweater. Revealing a deep purplish blue bruise.
San's voice got caught in his throat and he finally raised his head to take in Somang, in front of him. The girl smiled and mouthed a sweet greeting to San due to the phone against his ear. Her clothes were covering so much skin today and one could tell how hard to tried to cover up but her turtleneck still fell loose, exposing another bruise near her neck. Somang had tried putting powder and foundation to cover it up but it could never match her original skin tone.
San threw the phone aside and agressively pushed his body up from his seat, the sending the swivel chair backwards until it slammed into the wall. Somang stared at San with wide eyes and her mouth opened to speak when suddenly everything stopped.
Time had frozen, leaving Somang with a confused expression and San who was seething in rage. He looked at the two new figures in the room, over Somang's shoulder. Wooyoung and Seonghwa, the two grim reapers, stood in the middle of the room and exchanges knowing glances with each other.
"Don't kill him, San," Wooyoung was the first to speak up, taking a step closer. "Just calm down, there's still quite a bit to happen. Remember the annual meeting of the underworld still needs to take place."
"And don't forget that you're the host." Seonghwa added.
San glanced at the two, silently understanding what they meant by saying so. "Don't worry, I have a plan. I'll just confront that bastard, nothing bad is gonna happen."
He gave them a sharp nod of acknowledgement and dismissal. The two grim reapers knew they could only interfere to a limit and therefore took their leave. Time unfreezes and the words that was stuck in Somang's throat had come out.
"What's the matter, San?" Somang questioned, her wide and innocent eyes glancing around.
"Nothing's wrong," San shook his head. "I just remembered something and got excited."
Somang raised a questioning eyebrow, willing him to continue.
"I'm hosting a party- Well, more like an event and I want you to be there," San forced a gentle smile. "I also want Woozi and your family to be present."
"Oh..." Somang could only say, taken aback. She seemed to hesitate and want to ponder this but she knew she couldn't refuse San. So with an equal forced smile, Somang nodded. "Of course, I'll be happy to come. I'll bring them along."
