Chapter 6 :-'Forward quickly'
Rushed quickly back to the Manor, she was going to knock but then she realised that she was still in her uniform. So she quickly untied her side plait and messed up her hair, unbuttoned her collar button and untucked her dress shirt, lowered her skirt and unbuckled her belt. Today she wore black box heels with knee length socks so she pulled them down, giving her the only look that could turn guys on. But then she pushed her nerd glasses back, giving her the nerdy look again.
She knocked at the door which was again opened by the butler, Smith. He takes her overcoat and humbly tells her that 'Master Ashton' is waiting for her in his deep baritone voice of his. Cassandra nods and he leaves her to find her own path towards her sexy tutor.
She walks slowly but confidently towards his room and knocks. "Come in!" A voice from the inside urges. The door creaks open and she peeps in.
There he sat, his chair faced away from her. He did not even look up to greet his visitor even when he could hear the faint, rhythmic steps, the fast and small intakes of breath and feel the feminine fragrance that now lingered in his room. It was bound to be his new student.
"Miss Stone, you are late!" He states the obvious fact as he turns completely to face her. He was sitting on that chair with his leg over the other in the manliest way and his fingers were interlocked, as if teasing each other. He looked at her, expecting the most unimportant excuses for coming late to tumble out of her mouth. Cassandra understood that so she just apologised instead.
"It's ok, Cass! Come sit." He just shrugged his expectations off. This time her brow rose high. "What? I can't call you Cass?" She shook her head and the hoop earrings she was forced to wear during work clicked to the beat by the movement. "Then you can't call me Ash!" "But the whole school calls you that..." She protests adorably, he thinks. "Well, then I am just glad to be the first one to call you Cass..." He simply says, determined not to change his mind. Cass could see that and just gives up hope of ever getting rid of that name. So all he gets is a famous eye roll.
"So can we start?" He asks, ignoring the gift she decides to give him. She nods as she proceeds to sit and also place her bag on the table which reveal a few thick books and a huge box of cookies. "Wow, those look amazing!" "Actually I got them for you." She shyly admits. "Is this the reason you were late or a way to make up for the reason you were late?" She pursed her lips, thinking about the complicated question he just asked and kept pondering over it till it started to make sense. But he did not wait for her answer.
He quickly opened the decorated yet translucent box and took one, offering her the rest which she politely refused. So he took one cookie and before she could even protest, he stuffed it into her mouth. She had to chew and swallow before she could speak as it was considered as bad manners if done otherwise. But surely, she would have loved to spit it one his face.
She angrily munched on the cookie, with her mouth all puffed up and a huge frown on the face. He smiled as he took a bite from his own cookie. "Mm mmm... You made these?" He asked incredulously. At that very moment, her mouth was empty but the chocolate lava had left remnants in her mouth. So she just shook her head and made a grab for the glass which was kept in front of her. Thankfully the glass was filled with water. After the deep gulp, her mouth felt clean and now she chose to answer.
"Actually they were made by my neighbour." She admitted. "No wonder, they reminded me of someone..." He muttered. Cass could not catch the words but she could see the twinkle in his eyes and the soft smile that she had never seen before. "Oh, I forgot! I was told to deliver these to you... Favour for a friend." She had suddenly remembered to deliver the package. His smile widens as he accepts the package from her.
"Thanks. These were actually for my father's very important dinner party... You actually saved them from getting sued." He admits. She lets out a soft sigh, thankful to the Lord above that he yet doesn't know that she works there but then quickly smiles before he could catch her.
"Now can we start?" She asks eagerly. He nods and the studies finally began to her liking and his disliking.
This became the usual routine scheduled for Miss Stone. For that week, Cass had to acknowledge the disguised Ashton as 'Aaron' and kept taunting him, giving clues to the outside world of who he truly he is. But as it is everyone in high school was empty-headed as well as blind, she couldn't really do much. All the efforts she put for people notice had eventually failed and Ash loved mocking her out of her infamous failure, an incident that will only exist between the two.
That entire week, Cass was the only friend 'Aaron' had chosen to be with. It was sad that none of his Jock buddies could recognise him. But he was glad that he finally got Angeline off his back. Her rumours of them liking each other wouldn't irritate him now. And the rest of the school just thought that 'Aaron' was another weirdo who was new to this school and the popular Ashton had either fallen sick or had gone for a long vacation. How do I know?
Well, you could see the number of cards he had received on his Birthday which was sent to his 'Home Sweet Home'. Ash and Cass had to sit together and get them sorted out, throwing all the useless ones and the ones that had nice illustrations were cut out and put aside for decoration. And that was the fate of all the 'Get Well Soon!" and "Have Fun!" cards. The ones who truly wished him for turning a year older, Cass forced him to keep it, at least for memories sake, which he grudgingly did.
As they were having fun in what they were doing, Ash noticed that Cass had a nice hand in art and the latter noticed that the former had an amazing handwriting, curling and doting at the perfect spots.
That week went amazing for Cass. It was fun fooling people and she really got to know a lot about Ash. He may not be as much of a Bad Boy as the image he upheld. She really got to see the true him out of the time they spent together. Every moment was perfect. Cass felt like she had forgotten how to have fun. But now that she experienced it, she felt better that what she usually felt, like something had been missing and know she knew what was lost.
They laughed on stupid jokes, they shared small talks and gossips, a part which allowed Cass to retain her true identity as a female adolescent. They shared opinion on their likes and dislikes, which thankfully did not end in a fight as their variances had varied a lot. After all they did come from two different worlds.
For that one week, Cass felt like she had seen that Ash might not be the devil he claims to be but might actually be a down-to-Earth human under that huge façade. But after that one week, Ash had to go back to 'The Popular Ashton', which saddened Cass a little. She really liked the Aaron she was with and had truly enjoyed that one week but now he might actually forget what had happened between them. She actually felt that they began to connect as friends but now she felt all of it was going to be lost. This was his true nature and she had been stupid to think otherwise, was her first thought.
During school, he was with his buddies, popular girls as usual flirting with him, and the helpless were bullied as the meter had not been complete because of his absence. He surely did go back to who he was but he did not forget Cass. He still looked at her and smiled which she would always return, also not forgetting to thank God that his 'Buddies' were dumb enough not to notice the thing shared between them.
Soon Cass realised something. Ash had stopped bullying the weak and helpless but his Buddies continued to do so. At first he did try to reason them that they had better things to do but they always took it as a joke and continued to bully the weaklings.
Truthfully Ash had stopped it because the week before, when he was under the disguise of 'Aaron', he had seen Sam and her burly gang harassing poor little Cass. When he tried to intervene, he was told to stay out of 'girl's business' and that he didn't want to make enemies on his first week. He wanted to remove his cover but Cass's pleading look stopped him from doing so.
So from that time onwards, whenever he sees people bullying others, he just stands aside quietly and Cass could see him controlling his immediate outburst of sudden emotions. She knew he wanted to stop all of this and knew that he tried his best. Only if people stopped taking his words as a joke, would they understand the truth of his words.
Cass is not angry with him for not trying to stop the situation but is quite happy with the change because her belief still stands strong. She believes that even one person can make a huge difference to this world and now he finally understood what it means to be harassed.
So now Cass's new routine would be get up, g to school, don't talk to Ashton but share glances and smiles, go for her part-time job, then go to Miss Jones and help her out with her regular life midst the talks and then meet up at the Black Manor. She is quite happy with her new routine and Ash was happy to see her comfortable and warming up to her only current friend. But soon things started to change. Her longing to see Ash had incredibly increased and made her desperate. She could not wait for the study hours with him.
She started to notice things that she has never noticed before. The way his hair spiked up perfectly, the way his eyes shone brightly with different shades of brown hitting in, the way his lips formed a charming curve, the way... well, she could go on and on, describing each part of him perfectly.
Many a times, Cass tried to snap out of his alluring charms but was quickly sucked into them again that she had no other choice but into dwell into them. There was even a time where she tried to ignore him but he was adamant enough to make sure he was not to be ignored.
In that one month, they had become so close that friends who have known each other for years would have jealousy in their eyes. They trusted each other so much that problems and secret could be revealed with such ease and no doubt. But each still had a secret that they weren't yet ready to reveal.
As their friendship grew stronger, they both had no clue that they were being watched: - by Ash's father and Cass's parents.
When Ash's dad, Mr Alexander Black who is one of the greatest businessmen and is the owner of one of the biggest companies, met this simple girl, he immediately loved her for who she is. He could see the change in his son's life the moment she had entered his life. He could see the way his son gets his inspiration from the girl and views it to be a changing point in his life. After all what could a father expect after he had seen his son fail for two years? As per what I think, he had finally found his hope in a shining star.
When Cass introduced Ash to her parents in the small house of hers (which Ash found a sense of homeliness and says that this was in fact better than the seven star hotel that he had been living all his life in...), they were happy that 'their little Cassie' was finally beginning to open up and is now making friends. They were happy that her new friend was overlooking her lousy background and had actually admired her for who she is.
But as they became even closer, her parents began having problems with it. Being an orthodox set of parents, they began seeing things that could create a lot of problems. They felt like Cassie had stopped paying attention to her studies which would help her to achieve her goal to make her down-to-earth parents proud and had actually begun to spend all her time with a guy who is just going to be a passing phase in her life. When this reason was given to young Cassandra, she simply refused to listen and stood up for the first time and made a decision; - going against her parents.
Apart from this awkward thing that hadsurprisingly taken place in her life, there were other. Like...
