Chapter 18:- Screwed or not?... Only Time can tell...

Just in three to four days, the hot topic all over the school was 'Ashton and Cassandra'.  There was just nothing spicy enough to talk about so the people of the reputed college only spoke about the trending couple.

Cold, nasty glares and a lot of back-biting were given to Cassandra while "What the hell is wrong with you?" and "Damn, you nailed a nerd!" looks and lectures were given to Ash.

Good thing:- his buddies weren't affected by his relationship in fact they welcomed it and was happy that he finally found some one who made him smile. And nor were her studies disturbed.

Bad thing:- Their parents weren't spared with the news when it actually spread.  The professors had taken up the honour of telling their parents the truth.

When Ashton's father came out to know, he was overjoyed. In fact he was expecting it. He just had to give a little nudge. Plus now the chances of his son failing had narrowed down to zero. Also he loved Cassandra. She was helping his son out and also he felt like she was his own daughter. So her happiness also mattered to him.

When Cassandra's parents were told, it took them by shock. They decided to wait till she comes back home and make her confide the truth.  But when they weren't able to curb it down, they showered her anger upon her. Usually she would just be silent and bear it as the guilt creeped in. But this was not one of those times. In fact she stayed bold and argued back.

They told her that her teachers had 'complained' that her new relationship is a distraction to her studies and later her aim. But Cass tried to assure them that nothing of that sort is going to happen. But her parents weren't convinced one bit and taunted her in such a way that she would have no option but to leave him forever.

Cassandra has always been the girl in everyone's good books and it was never her habit to get shouted on.. So this seemed to get on her nerves  and it was without a doubt that her anger would burst.

She let out all her thoughts and feelings that were compressed in her because of the fear of disappointing her parents.

"I don't want to do this anymore! I f**king give up! I don't want to be a f**king doctor  and you have no f**king rights to force me to do so!"

Her  voice echoed loud and had taken her parents by thorough surprise. Everything had fallen silent in that house that day.

It had come to her parents as a shock that their daughter could talk back like that and disrespect them at the same time. Obviously the reason for that energy could only be pinpointed to one person.

"But, Cassandra, this is your dream an-"

"No Mom, it was yours and you convinced me it was mine. I never wanted to be doctor. All I ever wanted to be is a normal journalist. Getting to know people, Playing with words, having the pride of people recognising my work. That's what I want. Doing biology, dissecting dead frogs and cockroaches... That's not something I want.  But No! I have to study this field, why? Because my parents are forcing me to do so. I'm not allowed to do anything but that. And I'm sick and tired of it!"

Cass went on babbling  and guilt began to seep in their hearts when they realised their mistake.

Even though they pushed her to their dreamy goals which they could never achieve, they didn't bother to know what she actually wanted out of life. Only because they wanted to see her happy and successful. They never realised that  what you truly wish for is the only thing that can make you happy when it becomes your reality.

Her tears streamed down as she continued shouting at her parents and in turn, they kept quiet and listened to her ramble. They wanted to console her but now it was too late to turn back. She had to continue with the stream she had chosen .

They took on all the taunts and shouts their daughter laid on them and they believed that they deserved each and every part of it. Regrets kept filling their mind.  And it was the one situation that no one expected it to happen.

"And this is one decision  I would like no one to interfere in. This is mine and mine alone." She shouted before she banged the door shut and ran off, to be in Ash's arms.

The elderly couple just stood their in shock that their dear daughter had the nerve to speak to them like that.

She goes running to his house, crying. She herself was so shocked that she had tarnished her 'Little Miss Good' attitude .

The moment she saw him, she wrapped her arms around him and broke down. When asked, what happened, she repeated the whole story of what took place in that house just moments ago.

He picked her up and laid her on the bed and went on consoling her as she had let it all out .

At that moment, it was so comforting  that she wanted to believe that  what she did was the right thing but the guilt still stuc to her heart.
