Chapter 14:- For How Long?... God, I give up!
He had started to act really weird. Weird as in he was acting like he never knew a girl called Cassandra. He stopped coming to school and when she came to the Manor, he didn't even bat an eyelid towards her arrival. All he did was go back to his room and lock himself in with a girl in his arms. He didn't even care that she had to wait for him to come out and study... Cause again that never happened.
Nearly every day, Cass kept wondering for how long this would go one, hoping that one day it was going to end and he would come back. To her.
But apparently that day never seemed to come. And to make things worse, she had to concentrate on her studies with all the moaning and the hushed yet still loud and clear words of love and it left her uncomfortable everytime. She just grudgingly stayed there in lot of hope that just did not extinguish even when reality kept hitting hard.
She tried to ignore the voices but the crazy thoughts kept invading her head, none of them allowing her to study in peace.
There was one thing she noticed clearly :- Every female who has gone into that room had their voices varied from the previous days. Sometimes squeaky, sometimes bold, sometimes very smooth and sometimes very pitchy. But one thing was for sure: the male's voice remained the same and it was unmistakably recognised as Ashton's. And it did seem like he was using random girls for his own pleasure - making:- a total 'Bad Boy' attribute which he has already proved? What more could he want?
It was pure torture for poor Cass as she had to study outside as the man she had completely fallen head over heels for was in that room with random girls in use, making pure unwanted sex noises and on top of that she was outside, bearing all this nonsense.
She was under the impression that it was his life, he was allowed to do what ever he wants to do. She had no right to indulge much in his life. After she was nothing to him. Their only relation they had was a student-teacher and nothing more.
But everything had its limit. As it is the nature of a woman to bear her sufferings nd torture in silence until the heart can take no more of its burden. At that moment, everything will burst out and make you feel it's true wrath. And it's power is very strong, enough to bring you down to your knees and make you feel the guilt.
And that was exactly what happened. That was exactly what Cass did. After all, she too is a woman. One day, when she was unable to bear any more, she did what any woman would do.
She went to his room and started banging at his door. When no body responded from the other side but had in fact continued with their leisure work, she kicked the door open in anger and saw the less hideous sight than what she had expected.
She saw a random girl who did not seem to belong in the same institution as she studied in, straddling him with a smile of distinct happiness. His hand was creeping up her naked thigh, slowly moving on to her distinct sides and the other tucked her hair behind her ear before moving it to cup her face. Her hands were entwined around his neck and their faces were inches apart. She was looking into his eyes and an unusual glow filled her face when he kept looking at her lips, while smacking his own. Their foreheads nearly touched and surprisingly and thankfully, they were fully clothed. And they did not let their work be disturbed by their intruder and pretended to take no notice of her.
'Ahem! Ahem!' She cleared her throat loud and clear, enough for both of them to snap out of their intense moment. They both turned to look at her. First thought that flashed in their minds. 'What the fuck?' Instinctively the girl's hand goes over her chest, covering her cleavage which had been uncovered by his smooth fingers.
"Get out!" Cass ordered sternly. But the girl only stared back at her, eyes already widened. "I said GET OUT!!!... Do you not understand or do you want me to drill that in your head?" She shouted louder, her words rising in pure anger. The girl being scared, just got up, grabbed her jacket and took off to her heels. All as if in a hurry. The door banged shut and it was just the two of them in that one room, which was filled with awkward silence yet shushed by the soft breeze.
She stood there, awaiting for an explaination for his unappropriate behaviour and I response, he just leaned back on his palms, looking back at her, as if he wanted her to initiate the whole talk. All he could think of was 'Do I know her?' And she took the opportunity.
"Ash? What the hell was that? What is wrong with you?" "What is wrong with me?" He asked casually, pushing his hair back. "I mean after that party, you have been acting so weird when I am around. It's like you already know but you don't want to accept the damn truth!" She says, softening a bit but then made her words firm. "Know what?" He asks, still not getting hang of the situation.
She just threw the girl out from whom he was really getting intimate with and started to babble about things that seriously did not make any sense at all. "Are you so blind to notice? Or do you want to hear it from? Is that why you are pretending to be so damn oblivious? You want to hear it, right? Then listen.... I love you." She nearly whispered in the end but those words still rang in his ears.
She loved him.... Wait! Actually a little correction over there... She loved Ashton, not him. He didn't even know who this girl was until now.
She continued. "I love you so much but the thing is you don't care... I get it. So just forget this happened, okay?" A gleam could be seen in her eyes and he saw it. She tried to hold it together. She didn't want him to see her break down. "If that girl is still down stairs, I will send her up and you can continue whatever business you were busy with." She bit her lip as those words tumbled out softly, not knowing that Ash could hear her perfectly.
She turns to go but he jumps up to grab her wrist, not wanting to let her go. "C-" "Don't touch me!" She snapped through her clenched teeth. "And the name is Cassandra, not Cass." She walked out, leaving him there, standing speechless.
A few days pass by and all Cass... I mean, Cassandra has been trying to do the best she can to ignore Ash. He comes to talk to her, she walks away. He gives her one of his genuine smiles, she looks away. As if these tiny things didn't matter to her anymore. She even stopped going to his house. Once or twice, he even tried the direct approach and clear the matter but she flatly refused and was adamant to let things be the way just as they were.
One day, he decided that enough is enough and he would confront her about what exactly is going on. Before the class started, he started, he stood in front of her, not allowing her to pass. Finally, with an impatient sigh "What do you want, Ash?" "What happened? Why are you acting this way?" He asked , evidently confused. "Ash, stop pretending like nothing happened, ok? Cause clearly both of us know what happened there perfectly well. " For the first time, he found himself with loss of words.
First because she never spoke to him this way. Second because he did not understand what was going on. Before he could ask, Cass grabbed some one's hand and stuffed it into his. To her luck, it belonged to Angeline, the true Angel to Ash's life and walked away, leaving the two supposed to-be-love-birds to themselves. "Oh, Ash, how sweet of you to remember me..." but Ash left her there to find Cass. When he did, the lecture had already begun.
The Bell rang for lunch break and he was waiting for her, the time he made sure , he wasn't surrounded by his buddies. When she did not come, he thought that she must be studying some where quietly, in a no - disturbance area. He searched every class, every nook and corner but he couldn't find her any where. Finally he turned to the one person he never thought of seeking help from - Ashley. He called, hoping that his call would be answered. And thankfully it was.
Ashley: Hello caller! This is Ashley and how may I help you?
To Ashton, the voice was vaguely familiar but he couldn't place it nevertheless he answered.
Ash: Ummm... Hi! I really need your help. Actually desperately...
Ashley: You may state your virtual name and then your problem...
Ash: Ummm... My name would be... Devil's Work shop and my question would be: how would you explain to a very stubborn girl?
That moment, our Ashley knew who the speaker on the other end was and since she was the Ashley, she had to do her duty of giving the answer.
Ashley: Ummm... Try to make her see your point.
Ash: Oh, you are right! Like that idea never struck me (sarcastic) ... Please... I've already tried that...
Ashley: Maybe really go after her till she sees your point... Don't give up to easily...
Ash: And what if she is really stubborn?
Ashley: Hey, I'm - I don't think there is any girl that stubborn. And by calling a girl stubborn, you are also insulting every other girl.
Ash: Maybe you are right. Let's see if what you said is true.
Ashley: oh and maybe try making it special for her.
The call was done. And her advice sounded really good. Only problem : it wouldn't work on her. She was very stubborn who sticks to what she firmly decides in. At one point, it is a good thing and the other, it's one's doom.
