1 Her Roommate The Devil KC
After the city calmed down from the live broadcast reveal of the existence of blood drinking devils the higher powers decided it was best humans and devils be kept separate. The city was split right down the middle by an invisible line, the devil line.
To young Gwen's dismay this line went directly through her apartment and her new great job was on the other side. she needed a roommate and her only option was a devil.
Gwen resented the fanged creatures for disrupting her life but wouldn't be able to make rent on her own. She posted her roommate request online and was met with an overwhelming number of disheartening responses. Seemed when a human requested a devil roommate the freaks came out of the woodwork.
Finally, a seemingly normal response entered her mailbox and she jumped on it and invited the strange devil to come tour the apartment.
When she opened her door to found an incredibly handsome man standing just outside. She could have slapped herself for her own stupidity. She was so excited by the lack of sexual innuendo and vailed threats she'd jumped at the first response without considering gender. Of course, when it came to devils gender didn't really matter when all it took was a drop of blood to turn them into lust driven blood sucking sycophants.
She considered slamming the door on his face but she really needed a roommate. It was not like he could cross the line with that chip in his spine.
"Please come in." She gestured, already standing far to one side. On the human side.
He skirted through the door. "Hello I'm KC." He greeted with a bright smile that almost countered the sullen appearance the large bags under his eyes gave him.
Gwen's brows knotted at the name. That's why she hadn't thought to ask about gender. 'What man is named KC?'
"Gwen, nice to meet you." She replied, raising her hand to shake before remembering herself.
"Let's start with the kitchen. The biggest problem area." Gwen began.
"Sounds great." KC Answered with a strained smirk, pulling his eyes from where her hand almost crossed the line.
"So, as you can see you won't have a stove, but you do have the sink which has been a huge pain in the ass. And the fridge." She put her forehead in her hand, unable to continue for a moment due to sheer frustration. "The fridge side is on your side. The freezer on mine."
"That's terribly inconvenient." KC noted while biting his cheek at her dramatics.
"Yeah. Everything else is fine, though you'll need to get your own dishes and table and whatever. Wait do devils even eat?" Gwen rambled, feeling a bit nervous with a devil in her apartment.
"Yes, we eat." KC answered, stifling an amused smile.
"Alright. The living room." Gwen marched into the living room KC beside her across the line. "Most of the living room is on your side. There was nowhere to hang the tv on my side so it's on yours. Does that work for you?"
"That's fine. What about the remote?" KC asked, biting his lips to stifle a laugh at her clear annoyance.
She glared at him a small smile playing at her own lips. "I know it's petty, but it's been a real pain." Gwen replied, infected by KCs humorous mood.
"I'm sure. How about the couch. Can half of it be moved to my side?" KC requested.
Gwen purses her lips at him in consideration. "One third." She conceded.
"I'll take it then." KC announced.
"What? You haven't even seen your room." Gwen objected.
"Better then living in my car, I'm sure. I lost my apartment when they split the city so as long as there's a shower in the bathroom, I'll be happy." KC admitted with a sheepish grin.
Gwen knots her brow at him doubtfully. "You have your half of this month's rent?" She asked.
"Yes." KC confirmed.
"Well then Mr. KC you're in." She stuck out her hand over the line before snatching it back as if it may combust into flame. She'd forgotten for a second. Forgotten that this man was no man at all but a devil.
"Sounds great roomie." KC replied, glossing past the mishap casually. "But now that we're roommates you should call me Kilo."
Gwen's mouth hung open a moment at him in confusion. "Wait a minute..." she began to protest.
"Here's an idea. Since you have the stove and I have the sink. If you make dinner I'll do the dishes." Kilo purposed.
"Really? Can we do that?" Gwen doubted, though she couldn't help but get excited at the prospect of not having to clean her dishes in the bathroom sink anymore.
"Sure, as long as no part of our bodies cross the line we'll be fine." Kilo reassured.
"Alright." Gwen grinned. "I'll scoot the table over so you can sit on one side then."
"Thanks, Gwen." Kilo beamed back.
Gwen bites her lip, looking away uncomfortable with how much she liked him saying her name.
Gwen escaped into her room leaving Kilo to move his things in from his car. She felt weird not helping him but obviously that would be impossible. When she hadn't heard him coming in and out the front door for a while, she ventured into the kitchen to begin dinner. She only had freezer food and stuff she could keep in the cupboards, so she began preparing frozen chicken and rice.
"Smells good." Kilo commented, coming out of his room a while later and seating himself at his side of the table.
"Thanks. It's just chicken and rice. Hope you like it." She replied, fixing him a plate and setting it in front of him.
Her smile faltered as his eyes bleed to crimson. Slowly she retreated back over the line while his red eyes tracked her. She flushed under his intense hungry gaze.
"If you cross this line a devil can do whatever they want to you." Kilo warned evenly, picking up his fork to begin eating.
Gwen stared at him in horror, braising herself on the table as her knees began to shake.
"Cross this line and I can do whatever I want to you." Kilo promised, his red eyes locking with hers, a small smile exposing his fangs.
===============================================
I want to update often, as I go, so the chapters will likely be this short.
If you haven't watched the Anime "Devils' Line" or read the Manga I highly recommend you do so. At least the scene the cover comes from. Not because you have to in order to read this Fanfic, because I don't think you do. It's just really excellent.
Thank you for reading <3
