ANNOUNCER: It's time for The Destiny Talk Show! And now, your host! Trevor Hallett!
Trevor is working on his computer, before realizing the show has started.
TREVOR: Hello there! Welcome to The Destiny Talk Show! I'm Trevor Hallett, your host. Apologizes, I was writing a chapter to a story and lost track of time. Yeah, the book is called The Speedy Mothertrucker.
the audience laughs
TREVOR: For our younger readers, please never say that word in real life. Trust me on this, it's a cover-up for a bad word. Anyway, that's not why we here. No, we're here to interview a guest. Now, our guest tonight is the author of an extremely long Amourshipping Story that's split into two parts. Yep, so please welcome gogolsarkar!
gogolsarkar comes onto the set and shakes Trevor's hands before sitting down.
TREVOR: Welcome to the show, Mr. Sarkar. How are you today?
SARKAR: Fine. Very busy, but otherwise, OK.
TREVOR: That's good. You came on the show to promote your book. What's it called?
SARKAR: Correction: I have come to promote my story which is titled 'The Tryst with Destiny' series. The story is divided into 2 books, the first one titled 'Tryst with Destiny: The Beginning of the End' and the second book titled 'Tryst with Destiny: The End of the Beginning'
TREVOR: Chuck, could we get those book covers on the screen please. Thanks.
TREVOR: So it's like Infinity War and Endgame. One story split into 2 parts.
SARKAR: Precisely.
TREVOR: Now, tell us the plot of the story.
SARKAR: Well, Tryst with Destiny is an Amourshipping story which starts in a very simple manner but actually has a very complex and elaborate plot. The story begins with Ash Ketchum who's suffered a humiliating performance in Unova league and this has a very profound impact on him which causes him to undergo immense self evaluation and inevitably conclude that his string of defeats is due to his childish nature and lack of understanding about Pokemon. So to fill these gaps Ash with Prof. Oak's help decides to try to get into KIP (Kalos Institute of Pokemon), the finest in the world. Meanwhile, in Kalos, Serena is already Kalos Queen and she too is joining KIP. And this is where both protagonists meet and love blossoms. This is how the book starts. Now I will not reveal the plot because the uniqueness and the complexity of the plot is the main selling point of my story, but I'll provide the philosophy behind the plot structure and also give a few Easter eggs as well for those reading the book. The plot is designed in a manner which is deceptive to perception. The first 26 chapters are very simple, they explore Ash and Serena's relationship dynamics in the initial phase of their relationship. In short they are preparing the stage for Chapter 27 of the book. The reason why I mention this is because Chapter 27 is where the book takes off to another level. A character enters the story, a character completely shrouded in mystery and yet he seems to have interest in Ash and Serena. Who he is? For that people will have to read the story. But the interesting thing about the character is that the moment he enters the story he causes all sorts of mayhem everywhere. From KIP to the Pokemon league to the performances everywhere he goes chaos unfolds. Despite all the storm the character stirs up there's not a goddamn thing anyone can do about him because he does as he pleases. The remaining part of the book from Chapter 27 to 100 explores the result of the character's entrance.
TREVOR: Wow it seems that your story is so big that you had to split it into two parts. But why is it so long? Were you worried about adding too much filler into your story?
SARKAR: Chapters 27 - 100 also explores the dynamics of the relationship Ash and Serena share with this character and how they also evolve in his company. Both positive and negative influences are observed in Ash and Serena's character as a result of their constant engagement with this character. This is all Book 1 is all about. Book 1 is all about building up a mystery over the past 100 chapters which leaves readers asking more questions than answering them. This is of course by design to keep the reader hooked to the story. Another added detail is the fact that Book 1 ends with Amour Engagement and Book 2 opens with the Amour Wedding.
TREVOR: Interesting concept there. Now, could you explain the challenges and struggles you had to deal with while writing the book?
SARKAR: Kindly bear with me Trevor for a few minutes. Once I finish talking about the plot, I'll answer all your questions.
TREVOR: Wait! There's more?!
SARKAR: As I was saying, Book 1 is all about building up the mystery. Book 2 is where things become very very interesting. For this is where all the mystery that has been built up over the past 100 chapters is slowly unravelled. Book 2 is still in WIP and is right now in the middle of its unravelling stage. This unravelling sets the stage for a truth so shocking, a climax so unimaginable it is designed to make the reader go 'WTH. I DIDN'T SEE THIS COMING' and that is all I have to say about the plot. The complexity of the story which is designed in a way that Book 1 leaves the reader asking more questions and Book 2 where readers first enjoy an Amour wedding and then get all the answers to their questions which is followed by the climax of the Pokemon century, this is the main selling point of my book. That's all.
TREVOR: Wow. You have me at the edge of my chair there, pal.
SARKAR: In answer to your question about length, yes the book is long but that is because if you look at all the successful writers from George RR Martin to Tolkein you need a large story to create your own universe and that is exactly what I have done. The book has no fillers even though it may appear to the reader it has, everything happens for a reason and that reason the reader will only get if he reads book 2. A little cruel of me, I know but this ensures in my opinion maximum reader retainment.
TREVOR: Yeah, this is true. More chapters means there is a great story in there.
SARKAR: Go on. Fire away with your next set of questions.
TREVOR: Ok. What were the struggles you had to deal with while writing these books?
SARKAR: The first struggle is obviously designing the plot. How do you create a plot which makes sense logically, has material, forces the reader to think and ask questions but at the same time reveals nothing about the overall plot. This was the biggest challenge I had to overcome since I plotted all 200 + chapters before I had even typed a word. The next struggle is obviously questioning yourself over a decision you make. The decision I am talking about is obviously the introduction of the new character in Chapter 27. One of end it adds a great flavour to the book in terms of freshness and uniqueness but on the other end it also can overshadow Ash and Serena's importance as protagonists in Book 1. I debated extensively on the pros and cons and then decided what the hell let's just go for it. We'll deal with the consequences of overshadowing should they arise.
TREVOR: That is quite the challenge when you're introducing a new character and you must remember that Ash and Serena are the main heroes of the story. Is there any Original Characters you added to the story or are they all from the Pokemon anime?
SARKAR: The character in question is an OC of my creation. But he's the only one. Who is he? What does he want? Why is he doing this? That is the part of his appeal and I have to say that I am overwhelmed with the response my readers have in terms of feedback regarding the reception of this character. So I guess the trade-off paid off.
TREVOR: What's the Original Character's name?
SARKAR: I am not telling you that. I won't rob you of the opportunity to find out the character's name when you come across it once you cross chapter 27. The same goes for your readers who are reading the interview.
TREVOR: Nuts! Oh well, so could you tell me the inspirations that influenced the books?
SARKAR: Yes. There are a few inspirations. The first is a character called Grand Admiral Thrawn from the extended Star Wars universe. This character had left a tremendous impact on me and I have incorporated a flavour of his essence in the book. There are a few Easter eggs hidden here and there from several of my favourite TV Shows like Game of Thrones, Arrow, Beyblade, Bakugan etc. and of course inspiration has been taken from there as well. But it is a Pokemon story 100%.
TREVOR: There's nothing wrong with a few easter eggs in your story. There's a few Kingdom Hearts easter eggs in Destiny Rebirth. They're fun to include as long as they make sense to the plot.
SARKAR: Glad to see we're in agreement. But one thing I forgot to mention which I think I should mention is that the book also explores the concept of Power and Authority in a very interesting manner. The impact of power on perception, judgment and character is something which is also explored throughout the book.
TREVOR: Yeah, that does seem interesting to anyone reading your book.
SARKAR: Cool. What else do you wish to ask? Favourite quotes of the book? Key differentiators in my book which make it unique? How does it stand in comparison to other amour books on the platform? Any amour writers I like?
TREVOR: Well, we only have time for a few more questions. So what does make your book unique compare to other great amourshipping writers?
SARKAR: I think what makes my book stand out is its plot complexity, uniqueness and the scale of the plot. I have read other amour books on the platform but I don't think any other Amourshipping book comes close to my book in terms of the scale of the plot and plot complexity, at least in my opinion. Also, my book also has another big selling point is not only the Pokemon universe in my book is unique, but I have also probably created on of the best theories about Pokemon evolution, typing, Mega evolution and Z moves one can find anywhere. What are those theories I will leave it to the readers to read and find out for themselves. Sounds a little arrogant on my part, but I am proud of my theories.
TREVOR: Everyone is entitled to develop their own theories about certain topics in a fandom
SARKAR: Of course, they are.
TREVOR: Ok. What is your favorite quote from your book? If you tell me, then I will tell you what's my favorite line I have ever written for one of my stories.
SARKAR: "Anyone who dares to stand in my way. I shall pull them apart piece by piece. They shall eventually be the architects of their own destruction" But who says these lines. The multiple antagonists or someone else. That you'll have to find out for yourself. What's your favorite line?
TREVOR: Alright, this is my favorite line I have ever written. "Does the hug have to suck the air out of you?!"
SARKAR: LOL
TREVOR: Said by Lucario in Destiny Battles.
SARKAR: Nice. In the chapter where the hugging Dragonite squeezes the life out of Ash and Lucario I presume.
TREVOR: Yep. I stay true to its personality on Journey
SARKAR: Anyway, I need to go soon. Last 2 questions, please.
TREVOR: Speaking of which, I need to get back to writing the next chapter. But last question for you, who are your favorite Amourshipping writers?
SARKAR: Azazel0886 is a good writer at the moment. Your books are also reasonably enjoyable. I also like the A Dream, A Destiny series by Amourboy15 as well. There are others but I can't think off the top of my head at the moment. Well, goodbye for now. I need to get back to my studies. Keep writing, keep reading and keep enjoying. Bye.
gogolsarkar leaves the set
TREVOR: Ok. Good luck with your studies! People, go read his books, and trust me, you will definitely be on the edge of your seats! Well, that's it for today's show! Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some writing to do. Good night, everyone!
