|| Chapter 24 Who are you?|| Part 1

Anonymous P.O.V.

"How are the preparations going?". The man asked, standing in dark end of the room.

"Very well sir, will be ready soon".

"I want the attack to unfold in a day, so do whatever you need to but hurry the fuck up!", the man growled. He took a few steps his feet sliding effortlessly against the hard wood.

"Do I make myself clear!".

The wolf gulped, bobbing his head up and down, "Y-Yes sir", the wolf rushed out. He quickly turned into a stuttering mess; he followed the man's movements his eyes warily catching each step.

"Good, will attack in a day".

The man turned around retreating into the shadows, he chuckled to himself already burning with excitement.

"Tomorrow", he whispered.

ANASTASIA'S P.O.V.

I eyed the woman warily, she seemed to be surprised or maybe disappointed that I was a rogue.

She turned to her mate, her eyes glazing over as she mind linked him. The Senior Alpha nodded at his mate once then turned to whisper something into Malin's ear.

The woman took one calculated step forward, before her blue orbs focused on my face, "Shall we go on a tour of the pack dear?", she spoke coolly.

"Actually, I was on my out already to—".

"Great!", the woman clapped her hands excitedly she quickly grabbed my hand linking her arm with it. She tugged me forward trying to navigate her way out of the office.

Before we took a step forward, I glanced at the Alpha, his eyes set in stone looking as cold as ever, his usual stoic mask back on display. He didn't spare me glance before he turned his back, retreating to his chair. Soon enough he busied himself with the mass pile of papers in front.

This time I felt the woman tug once more and this time I didn't protest, I guess it wouldn't hurt to take a tour, I'll leave once we finish, I reasoned with myself.

I followed the woman who wrapped her arm tightly around my hand, she walked gracefully through the main foyer and exited through the main door. She climbed down the stairs to the porch her legs moving fluidly, as her eyes set ahead leading me forward.

We walked in silence. There was sight of a few pack wolves who shot curious looks our way turning to whisper something to their partners.

While some warriors were sparring on what seemed to be the training fields. The field seemed so large and expansive we'd been trekking for almost ten minutes and yet it seemed like we still hadn't covered any bit of land.

The woman at my side cleared her throat, "What is you're name dear?", she questioned with a hint of curiosity.

"Anastasia, but please call me Anna", I answered.

"Hmm what a wonderful name Anna. Oh, how silly of me I also forgot to introduce myself, I'm Isabella the Senior Luna of the pack".

"Thank you", I grunted out.

She chuckled shaking her head, "You remind me of him so much it's scary".

I raised my brow up in question, but she waved my questioning gaze off with her free hand. We fell back into the previous silence, though this silence was not one which made me feel uncomfortable.

Maybe it was the rich earth we currently walked on, or the continually evolving scenery in front of me but I was simply not bothered by it, In fact I appreciated it more. It was in these very silent moments I had time to think, to plan my next moves and strategize.

One thing was certain, I needed to leave as soon as she finished up with this tour.

"Were finally here", she clapped her hands together. Breaking the beautiful silence.

I looked over at where she was currently beaming at, wow I thought. I openly gawked at the building in front. Windows... several windows were positioned at the front; each had a dark green shutter attached to its sides. Four white beams stood at front it's end connecting to the cream-coloured roof.

The Senior Luna moved first, taking the small steps at front. She turned around once reaching the patio, "Well don't just stand there", she motioned her hand towards her current position.

I blinked, where on earth was she taking me? I eyed her warily she smiled before turning around and entering through the arch shaped door. I took a deep breathe, I had two options I could either take my chance to finally run off or simply flatter my brewing curiosity and follow after the Luna.

I hesitated before finally taking my first step forward. My curiosity pushing each limb forward until I had climbed the steps and trekked towards the open door.

Screams. The first thing I heard as I entered the building, loud throat wrenching screams. The screams continued for several seconds, it's high pitch making me grimace. I quickly rolled my shoulders back, moving my legs apart ready for a sudden attack.

The screams suddenly stopped, silence now overtaking the place. I scanned my surroundings quickly noticing a large staircase across me leading to a second floor. Near the stairs on the opposite end a woman sat behind a desk. The woman glared at a large monitor, she lifted her index finger pushing forward her small frames which sat against the bridge of her nose. The woman quickly snapped her head towards the pile of paperwork on her desk, and began to split the bundle before breaking it up into even sized piles.

"Can I help you?", the woman growled. All the while her eyes never left the papers in her hand.

"No", I replied curtly.

"Well then I suggest you stop blocking the doorway, there are people who would like to come in".

At that I quickly spun on my feet trying to see if anyone was truly behind me.

I looked ahead but couldn't see anything in sight until I looked down.

A small child with wide brown eyes blinked up at me, her raven hair tied up in pig tails on top of her head. Each pig tail adorned with small pink bows which sat awkwardly against her head. The child's lips started to curl down, "Oh shit, please don't cry", I whispered to the child.

Her brown eyes began to fill with unshed tears, oh fuck. Where the fuck was the Senior Luna?

I quickly glanced around trying to spot the child's parents. My search unsuccessful, the child began to sniff, fuck.

Roxy howled at the sight of the pup, making my frantic mind turn to mush. I took a deep breath it's okay Anna you can do it  just be gentle with her Roxy chirped in.

But I've never--

I know  just calm down

I slowly crouched down, meeting the child at eye level. I pulled on my best smile, trying to soften my harsh gaze.

"Are you okay?", I whispered.

The child only sniffed in response, before the first sign of clear droplets shone against her rosy cheeks. Sighing, I asked, "Would you like a hug sweetie?".

I internally groaned couldn't I come up with a better way to help this child. She probably is going to think I'm insane or even worse some sick predator ahhh.

You're doing great Anna, just be patient now. Roxy's encouraging voice continued to push me forward.

Just as I was going to call out to the reception lady behind me, the child surprised me by nodding.

My eyes grew wide, I was crouched on the floor with one leg against the floor and the other one up. I tried to shift my body pressing both my knees onto the ground, I opened my arms up lifting it awkwardly mid-air.

The little toddler padded her small feet across the ground and into my arms, she craned her head into my neck. Her pink dress covering my knees, I wrapped my arms around her gently afraid to upset her in any way.

She nuzzled herself further into my neck, breathing in my scent. I relaxed my shoulders and began to pat her softly against her back, "It's going to be okay, sweetie", I whispered to her.

I wasn't sure if she heard me at all, but I felt the need to reassure her. I'd be lying if I said, seeing her cry didn't affect me. It fucken did, I didn't know the child but her eyes held such sorrow. Even as she cried, she continued to look at me holding my eyes captive with pure desperation.

The toddler soon climbed onto my lap, wrapping her arms around my neck now comfortable in my presence. I gently stood up from the ground and began to walk around rocking her to sleep. I watched as her eyelids fluttered, her small lips stretched out in a yawn as she tried to fight against sleep.

I began to hum to a soft tune, trying my best to lull the toddler to sleep. After several minutes of rocking her, she finally closed her eyes caving into sleep.

I smiled looking down at her, she was beautiful. Her soft lips pouted up in her sleep, her chest rising and falling slowly.

Roxy growled utterly captivated by the pup.

A sudden clear of the throat jolted me out of my daze, I looked up to see the Alpha staring at me from the distance. He stood in the doorway, his tall frame completely covering the entrance.

His eyes swept me up and down, before settling on the child I now cradled against my chest. Some unspoken emotion quickly flashed within his blue orbs, before I could decipher what it was his usual blank gaze settled in.

He began to stride towards me with purpose, I wasn't sure why my heart had caught in my throat. I clutched the child closer to me, the Alpha's eyes following the movement before fixing me with his hardened eyes.

I took in a deep breath trying to steady my racing heart, what was wrong with me?

"Where is my mother?", he growled.

I took a deep breath before composing my face with the same nonchalant look he wore.

"I'd like to know the answer to that as well", I quipped.

The Alpha scrunched his brows, clearly not happy with my response. Before he could open his mouth, a child ran right into the Alpha's leg.

Oh god poor child, the alpha's going to eat him alive.

Mate won't do that, Roxy growled.

I rolled my eyes, the guy was definitely unpredictable there was no telling what he did the next second. The stoic expressions and his arrogance were a force to be reckoned with, there was no way he'd show any kindness towards the child.

The Alpha looked down at the child, before bending down and lifting him up onto his hip, "Hi there Samuel", he grunted.

The boy grinned at the Alpha, a big wide toothy grin before he wrapped his arms around the Alpha's neck.

My eyes grew wide at the sight, taking in the Alpha's arms which now occupied the child. I was baffled. No, I was shocked to see this side to the utterly dominant Alpha.

How is it possible that in one day I'd manage to witness glimpses or shards to the identity of the Black Moons Alpha. The identity which he protected scacrley through his fixed facade.

First his tenderness towards his mother, and now his acceptance of the pup's hug. One minute he was hurling threats at everyone then next he seemed to cradle a pup. Though the way he handled the pup was both gentle and firm.

He was a mysterious man, burning first with heat then revelling in the cool ice.

One question continued to dance around my mind, a question which threatened my desire to run as the very answer seemed to draw me closer.

Who is the Alpha of the Black Moon Pack?
