"You'll pay for this. I'll make you. You were so wrong. "Praniti's words boomed like thunders in Samaira's ears. She couldn't take it anymore. She jolted right up and her arm hit on a glass beside, making it fall on the floor and shatter into a hundred pieces.
Beads of sweat travelled all over her body. Her heart was thumping so vigorously that she felt it might dismantle the rib cage and pop out.

She held her head tightly in anguish. She saw Praniti in blood and flesh, voicing out the thoughts that laid deep down inside her heart.
"It's just a dream. It's just a dream. "Samaira murmured to herself nervously.

"But, isn't that right? "she could hear her subconscious whispering artfully.

She did not know what was happening with her. Everything became a daze. Praniti's words kept ringing in her mind in a low, mysterious voice. She tightened the grip on her head and leaned on the headrest, gathering her knees to her chin.

After a short while, she found the room being illuminated. She looked at the door to find Ayush staring at her quizzically, his fingers on the switchboard.

He rushed and sat down by her side, his unfaltering gaze fixed firmly on her.He slowly touched her shoulders with concern written all over his face.
"What happened? Head ache? "he asked warily, trying to get a good look at her face.

"This is wrong. This should not happen. No. "she muttered involuntarily.

"What is wrong? What happened to you? "he was confused.

"Ayush, I should not do it."

"What are you talking about? "

"What we're doing is wrong. I don't want to cheat Praniti,Ayush! You shouldn't love me. "she said slowly and stoically.

Ayush pulled his hand away as darkness engulfed his face. His expression slowly changed its shades into that of anger.

He stood up and stayed rooted on the floor near her.
"Then why did you marry me?Why didn't you think about it then? "he asked blandly.
"Don't think like this, Samaira. It will not help in making things better."he stated, looking intently at her.

"But am I not cheating her, Ayush? How can I marry my best friend's husband and live happily? What will she be thinking about me, sitting up there? That diary... It must've been her mood swings. "she said as slowly her eyes filled with tears.

"Samaira, mood swings doesn't make someone completely crazy. If she have written that note and handed over it to you, she knew something was going to go wrong. And you know what? She didn't give it to me,not her parents, but you. Why?Because she trusted you more than anyone else. She thought that you will fulfill her last wish. Why can't you understand this simple logic? And do you think it's easy for me to love someone else? For your kind information, it was hard like hell."he was slowly losing his temper.
Samaira did not look at him. Was he not right?

"But.. "she wanted to tell something but she didn't know what to say. Slowly, she could see her insecurities fading away.

"But!!!I don't want to hear a but. If you're still doubting Praniti,it proves that you have never understood her.Your friendship was never true. "he said loudly.

"Ayush! "she shouted out his name in fury.

"Why are you screaming, huh?Just think about the words you spoke sometime before. If you still think me and you are cheating Praniti, then I'll gladly go away from you. For now, good night. "he remarked in an equally resounding tone, sending shivers down her spine.

Samaira knew it was not going to be good night. She got out of her bead and took out Praniti's diary which was kept safely inside her locker. She turned the pages towards her friend's last note.
She read it over and over again until fresh tears rolled down her eyes. She sunk in deep thoughts for a long time. How wrong was she to think something like she's cheating Praniti? It was equal to insulting Praniti.
"I'm sorry Praniti! I should not have let that mere dream affect me so much. I'm sorry for hurting Ayush too. Please forgive me.You are the most precious person of my life. "she whispered regretfully, hugging the book close to her.

Samaira placed the book back to its place and sat on her bed. Sleep was far away from her and her thoughts were suddenly about Ayush. It hurt her so much when Praniti told her that she was wrong, even though it was a dream. She was not able to accept that it's wrong to be loved by Ayush.
She had seen the best and most caring version of Ayush during this period, especially the past two days.
He checked on her temperature every now and then, ensured that she had eaten well, took care of the children without any complaints. He even slept on the floor, below her, on the past two nights. And during that nights too, he would wake up frequently, check her temperature and then take look a look at the kids who were sleeping in the other room.
She knew that she could never be able to thank him for being a shoulder when the issue of the case popped up. He had turned the days that must've been the most dreadful into the sweetest and most memorable ones of her life. He was an irreplaceable mate and a husband. Deep down, she knew that she had fallen for him
But the thought of cheating her best friend, which she knew was wrong had been holding her back from pursuing her heart. But hearing from him about it and understanding herself that she shouldn't think about this, cleared all her insecurities.
Praniti had written the note for a reason and the reason was her friend's and husband's happiness. What kind of friend was Samaira if she won't fulfil this wish, which can only be done by her.

Samaira smiled slowly, recollecting all the simple yet deep moments that she spent with her husband. The smile became wider, thinking of the cheesy things he said.
"Do you think it was easy for me to love someone else? For your kind information, it was hard like hell. "the words repeated inside her head. He had knowingly or unknowingly told her that he loved her. Samaira flashed the widest smile.
"I've fallen, Ayush. And now there's no getting up. "

Ayush paced restlessly inside his room. He knew that his words might have hurt her but he simply couldn't stand the fact that Samaira accused herself of cheating Praniti and also imagined Praniti to be angry at her. He also knew that he should have never questioned their friendship.
But, it was not the way she should think. How could she think of herself as a cheater?
If Praniti was a gem then Samaira was a more precious gem. Praniti was noble enough to put her family's happiness first but Samaira was kind enough to sacrifice everything to fulfill her friend's wish and look after Praniti's daughter like her own.
If Praniti would ever see Samaira again, then she would be only thankful to her.
Ayush knew that Samaira was physically weak and that must be the reason she's thinking and simply making complicated. He made a mental note to talk to her once she was completely fine.
Ayush stopped walking and stared at Praniti's painting.
"At least, you make her understand. "he mumbled.

After a long while, Ayush was at the balcony, staring outside. He had checked on Samaira and found out that she was sleeping. He feared if his anger would affected her and thereby increase her fever. But fortunately, nothing of that sort happened. In fact, the fever had lessened.
Ayush could still remember the sight of Samaira laying on the floor. It had scared the hell out of him. He just couldn't imagine anything happening to her. Even the mere thought of her being in pain, hurt him so bloody much as if he was the one who was hurt.  Thinking about her was enough to make him smile and right now, he had a huge one plastered on his face. He just wanted her to get rid of all those rubbish thoughts and pay heed to her own desires. He wanted her to understand that, no matter what happens, he'd be there for her as shoulder to lean on.
He knew exactly what this strong emotion was.
"Trying to make you smile, I've fallen for you Samaira. And now there's no getting up. "
