Emerald

Three boys frolicked in the meadow,
Each with bright pasts
And dark paths ahead

One was born for greatness
A natural leader
A fair and just ruler

One was born to decide
The freedom of choice
The freedom of consequence

One was born for light
But he would soon fall to the darkness
A fate that not even seers could tell.

"Hey," Emerald called and ran up to the three seven year old boys. The tall grass whipped at her hands as she ran, "what are you doing?"

"Trying to decide wether or not girls are better at killing than boys," Hero answered, hands behind his head and laying in the grass.

"You idiot," Steve rolled his eyes at Herobrine, "they so aren't, name one girl who can hunt mobs as good as us. Besides, what can they do that we can't? Have kids?" He sneered, out of the two Steve was the bully, true to his name, Herobrine was the good guy.

"Emerald is almost as good as us, she fights very well," Emerald gave Herobrine a slight smile of thanks at the comment. "Besides Steve, you can't talk, you can barely lift an iron sword,"

"I can fight better than..." Steve muttered his answer.

"Your teddy bear? Thought so," Herobrine joked.

"Don't be mean," Emerald gave a light kick on Herobrine's leg who winked at her in response.

They all laughed, a clear sound, filled with happiness and hope.

Three boys frolicked in a meadow,
Each with a grey past
And an even darker one ahead.

Once again they travelled to the meadow. A place of peace and a symbol of innocence. Notch and Steve had begun to thrive in their academics, whilst Herobrine fell behind. Hero would rather spend his days practising his swordfighting and playing pranks on villagers.

One of the few days that he attended school he noticed Steve and Emerald talking. Steve rubbed the back of his head, a nervous gesture. Suspicion crawled over Herobrine like an attack of spiders.

"Hey Em, I was wondering if you would like to go out with me?" Steve stuttered over his words.

Emerald's face dropped, she pressed her lips together. Herobrine's hands clenched in anger, how dare he take the girl he loved away from him?

"Steve," Emerald began. "I-I, don't love you, I'm sorry, but I like someone else,"

"Right," Steve spoke simmering, "my brother was always better than me. At everything, at fighting, at making friends,"

"Steve, it isn't-"

"What? Because of that? Yes it is Em, never mind, it was my mistake interpreting kindness for love."

Emerald opened her mouth to object.

"Don't worry about it Em," Steve slowly backed away, defeated.

He turned away and briskly walked down the hallway, tears threatening to spill. Emerald stood frozen, the bell rung yet she didn't react. Herobrine walked over to her and gently brushed a tear off her face.

"I sorry," she turned away embarrassed.

"What's there to be sorry for?" Herobrine asked gently.

"I'm crying, its embarrassing," she managed to laugh through her tears.

"Em, we've been friends for almost forever."

She gave a faint smile, which quickly faded. "I don't like Steve, I love someone else,"

Herobrine took a moment to gather his courage. "Emerald, will you do the honour of becoming my girlfriend?"

"I thought you were going to say wife," she laughed and brushed away a few stray tears. "But yes, of course, I'll be your girlfriend,"

...

*Eva's POV*

"I know what it is, but I don't know how to read it or how to use it," I said, glaring at Dante. A grin spread across his face.

"I will teach you," Dante wanted me to learn the skill of the code manipulation. A skill of such mannerisms was extremely rare. Only Notch was able to properly use it, rumours of Herobrine and Erik possessing the power circled.

Besides, Dante said earlier, if they did have the power. Why don't they use it?

I didn't tell him that Erik purposely cut himself off from the ability.

Trusting the crazy guy was not a good idea on my part, but I wanted answers. Each moment that I spent down here another vision passed through my sight. I had gathered more answers in however long I'd been here than ten years in Minecraft.

The lure of answers drew me further into Dante's grasp. They only way to avoid it would be to escape before the bars clamped down shut.

So I pretended, I faked enthusiasm, feigned weakness, even though inside, I was itching to give him a dose of my power. I was sure that Notch and my father would be searching for me, I just needed to procrastinate long enough and gather enough information.

What for? The Descendant prophecy, how to avoid it, how to keep myself from choosing the wrong fate. Then there was also the prophecy the Seer had given me, another one to decipher.

I murmured over the words;

Daughter of darkness come before
More powerful than gold, life or ore
Deliver the blood, water the stones
Forever cast, forever she roams

The power must've been referring to be able to access and change the universal codes. Even though it was powerful, it came with a strong price. The bigger the impact I made, the more energy I used, the more life force I lost.

Deliver the blood, water the stones

It was one of the more chilling lines of the prophecy. Deliver the blood, did that mean I had to draw blood and place it at a destination? Did they want their blood wrapped? Or would they ask about free shipping?

Did the line refer to a war, or a battle? If the blood watered the stones, there would be lots of it.

There would be a long and bloody war.

A/N: So another short chapter, sorry about that.
