Chapter Twenty-Five: The Goodbye Look

Ethan's Pov

Me and the girls were still at the greenhouse, still in shock that Ian's alive.

"Did things just get incredibly worse?" Aria asked, clearly worried.

"I can't believe this. Ian's dead" Emily said, still in denial.

"No, zombies don't text! Ok? He is alive somewhere" Hanna said.

"Spence? Ethan?" Aria asked, worried.

Me and Spencer glanced at each other, unsure of what to say or what to do, we were both still in shock over this.

"We have to get this phone home before Melissa realizes that it's gone" I said.

Spencer nodded as we both tried to leave but Emily stopped us.

"Ok, you put it back, and then what do we do?" Emily asked, still worried.

"Do we call the cops?" Aria asked.

"Oh, yeah, because that always works out so well for us" Hanna sarcastically said, rolling her eyes.

"Why is Ian texting Melissa?" Aria asked.

"And why is Melissa answering him?" Hanna asked.

"Is she? I mean, we don't know how long this has been going on" Emily said.

We all looked at each other as Aria sighed and looked at me and Spencer.

"Spencer, Ethan, look, you guys have to find out what Ian told Melissa. You two are the only ones who can find out what he wants" Aria said.

"And where he is" Emily said.

We heard more noises coming from above us and it's fair to say we were scared as hell.

"Let's get out of here!" I yelled.

The girls nodded and we all quickly left the greenhouse and began walking together.

I made sure to be near them at all times since it was pretty late.

I may have a cast on one arm but I can still use my other arm to throw punches.

"Let's finish this in the morning, ok. I'm cold, damp and scared. We can talk at school" Hanna said.

"We can't talk at school, remember? The four of us are supposed to be having 'separate time'" Aria said.

"Doctor's orders" Emily said in annoyance.

"So, what are we supposed to do, not talk to each other? We're in the same classes" Hanna said.

"We just have to play it cool" I said and Spencer nodded.

We heard noises nearby and turned around, only to see Jason exiting out of his house.

"It's Jason" Spencer said in shock.

He walked over to the trash bins and began dumping a few things out.

"Did he move back in?" Hanna asked, confused.

"What is all that?" I asked, confused as to what he was throwing out.

"That's all that stuff that those people left on my curb when Ali went missing, those tributes" Aria said.

"Maya said her family kept those things when they moved in. They didn't have the heart to throw them out" Emily said.

"Apparently Jason's moved on" I frowned.

I mean, I understand that Jason and Alison didn't have the best sibling relationship, but why would he throw them out?

I mean maybe he's moved on but why throw them out?

"What's he doing back in that house?" Hanna asked.

Jason then turned back around and went back inside the house, not even noticing us standing a few feet away.

The Next Day

It was the next day and me and Spencer were heading downstairs to leave for school.

Emily called Spencer and we were talking to her, Spencer making sure she was on speaker so we could both hear her.

And right now Emily was telling us that all the videos of Ian have been erased.

"What do you mean, 'gone?'" Spencer asked.

"I mean gone. Blank. Zeroed out. Somebody got in here and erased the whole drive" Emily said.

"Who?" I asked.

"The real estate agent's been bringing people in here all the time. I mean, the laptop's been sitting on my desk" Emily said.

"Are you saying that A just walked in and wiped your drive?" Spencer asked.

"What are you talking about? Of course they did" I scoffed, shaking my head.

"It's gone, Spence, Ethan. All the videos of Ian are gone" Emily said.

"Yeah, except for the one Ian had when he fell" Spencer sighed and I nodded.

We heard the door opened and turned around to see Melissa walking inside the house.

"Look, we're gonna talk at school, ok" I softly whispered.

"How?" Emily asked, confused.

"We'll figure it out" Spencer whispered and I nodded before she hung up.

She put her phone in her bag as Melissa walked towards us.

"Hey. You got out early this morning. Where'd you go?" I asked.

Melissa didn't say anything, she just sent the both of us small smiles and handed me something.

I raised an eyebrow at her before taking the item she handed me and looking at it.

My eyes widened when I realized it was a picture of the baby scan.

I gave it to Spencer and when she saw it her eyes widened as well.

"Oh, wow. Is everything okay?" I softly asked, worried that something happened to my niece of nephew.

"So far. They want me to rest as much as I can" Melissa said.

Me and Spencer nodded as Melissa made her way to the living room to sit on the couch.

"You didn't have to go alone. We would have gone with you" Spencer softly said.

"Next time" Melissa said.

"Um, anymore appointments today?" Spencer asked.

"No. I'm staying home. Are you two gonna be back before mom and dad leave?" Melissa asked.

"That's the plan" I chuckled lightly.

Melissa giggled and shook her head at me.

"You know, we could stay home if you want us to. Answer your phone, take messages" Spencer softly said.

I nodded but Melissa shook her head at that.

"No, um...I want my phone. In case the police call about Ian" Melissa said.

Damn, but I guess it's understandable.

"Yeah" Spencer nodded.

She sighed before handing her back the picture of the baby scan.

"Thanks" Melissa said.

"Yeah" me and Spencer said.

I quickly kissed Melissa on the forehead before grabbing Spencer's arm as we both left the house to head to school.

At School

Classes were overall the same and right now me and the girls were in line for lunch.

It was a little hard to carry my tray with one hand, considering my other arm is in a cast, but I managed.

"So the videos are gone?" Aria asked.

"Totally gone" Emily whispered.

"That was our only evidence" Aria said.

"Well, we don't have it anymore" Emily sighed.

I grabbed a bowl of fruit and set it on my plate as Hanna came up from behind me and Spencer.

"Has Ian sent Melissa any more messages?" Hanna asked.

"We don't know. She's not leaving her phone sitting around" Spencer said in annoyance.

"What about Jason? Why is he back? And what is he doing in that house?" Emily asked.

"Maybe he's just looking for closure or something" I shrugged.

"Okay, new rule, no one can say the word 'closure'. Ever" Hanna said.

"Dr. Sullivan says it all the time" Emily said.

"I rest my case" Hanna deadpanned.

I snorted lightly at that before grabbing my tray with my good working arm as we turned around and walked away.

But the worst part is we can't sit together because we have to make it look like we're going along with what Dr. Sullivan said.

Aria sat down at our usual table, but she was going to be alone.

Hanna, however, set her tray on the table and was about to sit before Aria stopped her.

"Han" Aria said, raising an eyebrow at her.

"What?" Hanna asked, confused.

"I don't think we should sit together" Spencer said.

"No, we always sit together" Hanna said.

"Buttercup, we have to make it look like we're going along with this" I softly said.

"Looking like we're doing it is the same thing as doing it. It means we're wrong. And we're not wrong, we're right" Hanna said.

"Are we? We don't even really know what happened" Aria said.

"How can we be sure if we're even right?" Emily asked.

"That's even more reason to stick together" Hanna said.

We all glanced at each other before shaking our heads and deciding to go our separate ways.

Emily went over to another table as me and Spencer walked away. I glanced at Hanna and heard her scoffing before grabbing her tray and walking away.

I raised an eyebrow in slight confusion when I saw her ignoring Mona and going over to sit at another table.

I shook my head as me and Spencer sat down next to each other at another table.

Mom and dad didn't say anything about us having to split up.

After all, we're twins, we can never be apart from each other.

Before I could start eating our phones rang. We picked up our phones to look at the message, and no surprise, it's from A.

Look at you, all alone in a crowd. I win!

- Xoxo A

Me and Spencer glanced at each other before looking at the other girls.

Back At Home

After school I went back home to get started on my homework. Even though I didn't have alot to do I still wanted to get them done.

I was currently in the kitchen, sitting on the stool while working.

Melissa was sitting on the couch, reading a newspaper.

While Spencer was taking brownies out of a box to put them on a plate.

I flipped a page in my textbook when I heard crumbling noises. I turned around to see Melissa angrily folding the newspaper while throwing it on the table.

"You ok?" I asked, concerned.

"I shouldn't read that. They don't know anything, but they keep writing" Melissa said in annoyance.

I sighed and shook my head and went back to writing.

"You want to split one of these?" Spencer asked, gesturing to the brownies.

Melissa looked at her before sighing and nodding.

"Yes" Melissa said as she got up.

"Ethan, want one?" Spencer asked.

"Hell yeah" I nodded.

Spencer chuckled at that as she cut a brownie in half before setting it on a napkin and handing it to me.

I smiled and nodded at her in thanks as Melissa made her way towards her.

"Who are these for?" Melissa asked.

"What makes you think they're for anybody?" Spencer asked, confused.

"You're moving them from the box to a plate so you can pass them off as homemade" Melissa said, as if it were the obvious.

Spencer looked a bit embarrassed at that, making me and Melissa laugh.

"Don't worry. I know how to keep a secret" Melissa reassured her.

"Uh, they're for Jason Dilaurentis" Spencer said.

"Why?" Melissa asked, confused.

"Well, he's back, you know? He's just down the lane. I thought I'd be neighborly" Spencer shrugged.

Melissa only nodded at that as she grabbed her brownie and turned around to go back to the couch.

"They were friends, weren't they? Jason and Ian?" Spencer asked.

"Jason...wasn't somebody you could depend on" Melissa said.

"Did Ian say that?" Spencer asked.

"Spence" I sighed.

Judging by the look on Melissa's face I can tell she doesn't want to talk about anything Ian related.

Not until he's found.

"I'm...just making conversation" Spencer said.

"Then ask me about the weather. Or the deficit. Or gas prices. You want to help? Then don't ask me about Ian" Melissa sternly said.

I pressed my lips into a thin line as Melissa sighed and sat back down on the couch.

I glanced at Spencer and gently shook my head at her before going back to my homework.

Late At Night

It was late at night and me and Spencer were heading to the Dilaurentis house to give Jason the brownies.

I didn't really want to go, not because I didn't want to see Jason, but because I just wanted to rest once I was done with homework.

But of course Spencer dragged me with her, so here we are.

We walked up the stairs as Spencer ran the doorbell while I just stood there, bored and tired.

I heard growling from nearby and turned around, only to see a cute dog digging by the bushes.

"Hey. What you doin', buddy?" I cooed at the cute adorable dog.

Spencer giggled at me but also began cooing at the dog.

"Get out of here!" I heard Jason angrily yell.

Me and Spencer flinched and turned around just in time to see Jason throwing a newspaper at the poor dog.

The dog whimpered before running off.

I was breathing heavily, clutching onto my chest with my hand, leaning against the door.

"Jason, what the hell?! You scared the crap out of me!" I yelled, smacking his arm.

"Sorry, buddy" Jason chuckled, gently ruffling my hair.

I scoffed but lightly smiled at him while playfully smacking his hand away.

"Hello, Spencer" Jason said, turning around to look at my sister.

"Hi. Sorry. I saw that you were back, I thought I'd try to beat the welcome wagon" Spencer said.

"Ah, thanks. That's great" Jason nodded.

He took the plate of brownies from her and was about to head inside when Spencer followed him.

He quickly blocked her from going inside and closed the door, setting the plate somewhere else.

It was awkward, anyone could see that, so I decided to break the awkward silence.

"Are your parents coming back?" I asked.

"No. And it's...just gonna be me for the time being" Jason said.

Me and Spencer nodded at that, not really knowing what else to say.

"I heard what happened. Are you two ok?" Jason asked.

"I'm working on it" Spencer said.

"My arm is slowly healing, just one more day and I can get this cast off" I said.

Jason sent me a small smile and nod, making me return the gesture.

"So you know what's been going on?" Spencer asked.

"Just what I get from the news. The cops in this town don't really talk to me. Yeah, I'm the brother of a murder victim, but mostly they see me as a big pain in the ass" Jason said.

"Please, if anything they're the big pain in the ass" I scoffed.

Jason chuckled at that and nodded, making me smile at him.

"Yeah, but it's mostly because I ask too many questions" Jason said.

"Is that why you're back? The questions?" Spencer asked.

Jason didn't answer, he just gave her a blank stare.

"Maybe I can help" Spencer said.

"Ok. The bell tower?" Jason asked.

"What about it?" Spencer asked, confused.

"I heard that you told the police that Ian confessed to killing Ali" Jason said, walking around us to stand down the front of the steps.

Spencer glanced at him before looking away.

"Is that what happened?" Jason asked.

Spencer sighed before turning around, me following her as we faced Ian, but his back was facing us.

"That's being referred to as my 'version' of events. The police think Ian ran away, but not because of your sister" Spencer said.

"Did he confess?" Jason asked.

"Yeah, I think he did" Spencer said, quite awkwardly.

"You think he did?" Jason asked, turning around to face us, but he was mostly looking at Spencer.

"Well, he wanted people to believe that Spencer killed her" I said.

"And how did she do it, according to Ian?" Jason asked.

"I pushed her. She fell. And it was an accident" Spencer said and I nodded.

Jason still didn't look convinced, not one bit, and to be honest I was getting a bit intimidated by his stare.

"Jason, I'm sorry. I know that you and Ian were once close-" Spencer stared but Jason cut her off.

"Did he say he killed her?" Jason asked.

"That's what he meant" Spencer said.

"That's what he meant, that's what you think...did Ian say, 'I killed Alison?'" Jason asked.

"Not those words" Spencer said.

"Not those words?" Jason asked, raising his voice a little.

"No!" Spencer yelled, making me jump a little.

Gotta admit, if I had popcorn with me I would be eating it while watching those two talk.

It was quite entertaining, but concerning and awkward at the same time.

"It's getting late, and I've got a lot to do inside" Jason said.

"Can we help?" Spencer asked.

"You already have. Good night" Jason said, glancing at her for a second before nodding at me.

I nodded back and with that he grabbed the plate of brownies and walked inside his house.

When the door closed me and Spencer looked at each other and sighed.

We turned around and we were about to leave when we stopped. We stared at the garden of the house.

While staring at it it brought back memories.

Flashback
Nobody's Pov

The girls, minus Alison, and Ethan were currently in Alison's garden having fun.

Spencer was sitting on a chair while Aria sat on the arm of the chair, a drink in her hands.

Hanna, Emily and Ethan were sitting on the blanket that was on top of the grass.

"Alison! Alison, hey! Damn it, Alison, come here! Come here!" Ethan heard Jason yell.

All five of them turned around to see Alison running away from Jason, who was running after her from behind.

Jason managed to grab her arm and turn her around.

"Hey! Stop messing with my stuff! Alright. You and the Powerpuff girls just stay out of my room" Jason angrily said.

He didn't mention Ethan because he's his best friend and he knew that he'd never steal his stuff.

Jason let go of Alison's arm and turned around to head inside but was stopped by Alison.

"What are you afraid I'd find in there?" Alison asked.

"Look, just stop messing with people" Jason said, glaring at her.

"No challenge with you and your little stoner buddies. All you need is something shiny on a piece of string" Alison mocked him.

The girls all snickered while Ethan rolled his eyes and shook his head.

Alison turned around to look at them, smirking.

"Watch him, guys. He's got trouble with door knobs" Alison smugly said.

Jason glanced at her and the girls before his eyes landed on Ethan.

Ethan sent him a small soft smile, trying to give his best friend some comfort.

Jason only sent him a small smile and nod before turning around as he opened the door and walked inside the house, slamming the door behind him.

Alison scoffed and glared before turning around and walking to the girls and Ethan.

"What's wrong with Jason?" Aria asked.

"He just thinks I stole one of his Japanese cartoon porn books" Alison shrugged as she sat down.

"Did you?" Hanna asked.

"Of course I did" Alison chuckled.

"Aren't you afraid he's gonna rip apart your room?" Emily asked.

"Wouldn't do him any good. I have hiding places all over the house. In the yard, too" Alison said.

Ethan rolled his eyes but a small smile made it's way onto his face.

Of course someone like Alison would have hiding places.

"When I hide something, it stays hid, until I want it found. That's why your secrets are all so safe with me" Alison grinned.

They all smiled at her before they heard a loud clatter from inside the house.

Ethan sighed, knowing that it was Jason and he was probably destroying everything to find what Alison stole.

"That's my cue to leave" Ethan said as he got up.

"Where are you going?" Alison asked, raising an eyebrow at him.

"To stop your brother from destroying the place" Ethan said.

"Oh come on, he can handle himself" Alison scoffed.

"Unless you want to explain to your parents why it looks like someone broke in" Ethan scoffed.

Alison scoffed and shook her head as Ethan walked up the stairs before heading inside to calm Jason down.

Flashback Ends
Ethan's Pov

I snapped out of it when the lights turned off, Spencer snapped out of it too.

I sighed and wrapped my arm around Spencer's shoulders.

"Come on, lets head home" I said.

Spencer nodded as she leaned into my touch before we left to head home.

The Next Day

It was the next day and me and Spencer were currently driving to Toby's new job to see how he's doing.

You would think that after getting hit by a car, and getting in a car crash, I'd be afraid to be inside a car.

Well, you thought wrong, because I'm not scared. I'm not gonna let two accidents scare me.

We made it to the place and saw Toby carrying a few things before setting it down.

Spencer stopped the car as me and her looked at Toby with small smiles.

But then to our confusion we saw Mr. Sweeney walking towards Toby with an envelope in his hands.

Me and Spencer glanced at each other before looking back at them.

They talked for a bit before Mr. Sweeney left, leaving Toby alone.

I realized the sad and angry look on his face, making me more worried and confused.

When he saw us he walked towards us as Spencer pulled the window down.

"Toby" Spencer softly said.

"Mr. Sweeney let me go" Toby sighed.

"What? Why? It was your first day" I asked, confused.

"The owner of the house saw me on the crew and told Mr. Sweeney they'd cancel the job if he didn't get rid of me" Toby said.

"Why?" Spencer asked.

"They've got a daughter. They didn't want me in the house, so Mr. Sweeney paid me off for the week" Toby scoffed.

Mine and Spencer's eyes widened at that in disbelief.

Are you kidding me?

This freaking town still believes that Toby killed Alison when he clearly didn't. And he gets fired because the stupid owner doesn't want him near his daughter.

I call complete and utter bullshit.

"He can not do that" Spencer angrily said.

She unbuckled her seatbelt and tried getting out but Toby stopped her.

"Forget it, Spencer. It's just how this town works" Toby sighed.

Spencer scoffed at that and shook my head while I clenched my fist in complete anger.

I've had enough of everyone's bullshit in this damn town.

"Get in" Spencer said, gesturing for Toby to get in the car.

"Tell you what, let's...let's talk later" Toby sighed before walking away.

I sighed and closed my eyes, my fist still clenched at my fist as I was still angry.

"You know what, fuck this" I muttered angrily under my breath.

I undid my seatbelt and opened my car door and got out, slamming the door behind me.

"Ethan, bro, where are you going?" Spencer asked.

I ignored her and stalked towards where Mr. Sweeney was.

"Hey!" I yelled.

Mr. Sweeney turned around to look at me but before he could say anything I jabbed my finger into his chest.

"I don't know who you think you are, but you're an idiot for letting someone as amazing as Toby Cavanaugh go. And for what? Because you and everyone else in this stupid town believes that he killed Alison when he didn't. Well, I have news for you, he didn't. He's not a killer, he never was, he's an innocent guy that wants nothing more than to get his life back on track. And once the truth gets revealed, you're gonna be sorry you let him go" I angrily spat.

Mr. Sweeney and everyone else that was near was looking at me with wide eyes in shock.

I scoffed and removed my finger from his chest and turned to glare at everyone.

"I can promise you that when you find out who the real killer is, you're gonna feel like a bunch of stupid assholes for letting Toby go" I angrily spat, again.

I scoffed and rolled my eyes and backed away, not before looking up at the house.

"And if the owner is somewhere inside that house, you can kiss my ass and go to hell" I yelled.

And with that I spun around and walked away, not bothering to look back.

I made my way back to the car and opened the door and got inside, slamming the door behind me.

"Come on, we're leaving" I said.

Spencer was looking at me with wide eyes in shock and her jaw all the way to the ground.

I raised an eyebrow at her but all she did was release a small amused chuckle before starting the car and driving away.

Late At Night

When me and Spencer returned home we just did our own thing, we were both tired and bored. Night time came by faster than expected.

I was currently home alone. Spencer and Toby left to take a walk together.

I finished all my homework so I was just taking a nap on the couch. I turned off all the lights since that's the only way I can sleep normally.

I'm not sure how long I was asleep, maybe a few minutes or hours.

However, I was woken up to the sound of the door opening.

"Spence, Ethan. Spence, Ethan. Are you guys home?" I heard Aria ask.

I opened my eyes and looked up to see Aria walking inside the house, looking around.

"Hey, what are you doing here?" I asked.

"Just thought I'd stop by. Ethan, why is the window broken?" Aria asked.

"What?" I asked, confused.

I took a closer look at the door and saw that one of the glass windows was broken, like someone smashed something in it.

"What the hell?" I muttered under my breath.

"Is someone else here?" Aria asked, looking worried.

"No, nobody else should be here except for me" I said.

Don't freaking tell me someone broke into my house while I was freaking sleeping.

"Spence! Are you here?" Aria yelled.

I opened my mouth to say something when I heard something coming from upstairs.

By the looks of it, Aria heard it as well because she was looking at me in worry.

"Spence, if you're pulling a prank on me, it ain't funny!" I yelled.

Me and Aria jumped when we heard running footsteps coming from upstairs.

We turned around and my eyes widened in shock when I saw a figure wearing all black running down the stairs. Aria screamed while I still stood in shock.

I quickly snapped out of it when the figure was running towards us.

"Aria!" I yelled.

I quickly used my good arm and spun Aria around and shoved her to the couch.

But bad luck for me, the figure shoved me backwards and I crashed into the table that was behind me and fell to the ground with a loud thud as I groaned in pain.

"Ethan!" I heard Aria yell before I blacked out.

A Few Minutes Later

I regained consciousness when Spencer returned home.

I was currently sitting on the kitchen stool. Aria was cleaning my wounds while I was holding an ice pack to my head.

Spencer was upstairs talking to the police.

"Ethan, why the hell would you do that?" Aria asked.

"Because I wasn't about to let you get hurt" I sighed.

"Next time let me get hurt. Ethan, you've suffered enough after that car accident you were in, I don't want you to return to the hospital" Aria sternly said.

I sighed and nodded, not really knowing what else to say.

I heard footsteps from upstairs and turned around to see Spencer walking down.

"I've called the police. Everything looks all right upstairs" Spencer said.

Me and Aria nodded as my sister made her way towards us.

"Ethan, bro, are you sure you're ok?" Spencer asked, worried.

"Yeah. My dignity broke the fall" I sarcastically said.

I winced in pain when I felt Aria putting slight pressure on my wounds, making her send me an apologetic smile.

"Ethan...hey. Are you sure that you're okay?" Spencer asked.

"Yeah. Yeah, I... I'm fine" I nodded.

Spencer sighed before turning around to take out three cups from the cabinets.

"The fact that A can just...break into our houses...sometimes I think that's the worst part of this" Spencer said.

I nodded as Aria finished cleaning up my wounds.

"Emily said that somebody broke into their garage, and stole some camping gear. And her mom said that there's been a whole bunch of break-ins around town" Aria said.

"What would A want with camping gear?" Spencer asked, confused.

"You tell me" Aria shrugged.

I sighed and put the ice pack on the kitchen counter, feeling the pain going away.

Just then realization dawned on me as I looked at the girls.

"What if it's not A" I said.

"Who else would it be?" Aria asked, confused.

"Somebody who needs camping gear and survival stuff, somebody who's on the run" I said.

"Ian?" Spencer asked, her eyes wide in shock.

"We though that A wiped Emily's hard drive because that's the kind of thing that A would do, but Ian is the only other person who would want those videos destroyed" I explained.

"Do you think that was Ian upstairs?" Aria asked.

"I don't know" I sighed, shrugging my shoulders.

"Melissa's out in the barn. What would he want in the house?" Spencer asked, confused.

Me and Aria looked at each other, our eyes wide in realization and fear as we looked back at Spencer.

"You" me and Aria said.

This made Spencer's eyes widen in shock and disbelief.

I jumped slightly when the tea kettle began whistling as Spencer was quick to shut it off.

The Next Day

After a long day of school and saying goodbye to Mr. Fitz me and Spencer left to head back home.

We walked inside the house and closed the door before turning around to see Melissa reading a book on the couch.

"Hey, sorry we're late" I said.

"Didn't notice" Melissa shrugged.

"You want something to eat?" Spencer asked.

"I'm okay" Melissa said, turning around to look at us.

"Did you go outside?" I asked.

"Not in this weather. I never left the house" Melissa said, flashing me a small smile.

I gave her one back and nodded as she turned around and continued reading her book.

Me and Spencer began taking off our coats to hang them up when we saw something on the ground.

We looked down and saw Melissa's rain boots on the ground, they were wet and the ground was wet too.

Me and Spencer glanced over at Melissa, making sure she wasn't watching us, before crouching down.

I saw her raincoat in front of me and quickly and quietly went through her pockets.

I felt something in one of the pockets and took it out, only to see that it was the picture of the baby scan.

I turned to Spencer and showed it to her and her eyes widened when she saw it.

At The Greenhouse

I texted the girls to meet us at the greenhouse and that's where we currently were.

"It was in the pocket of her raincoat" I said.

"And her raincoat was wet. So were her boots" Spencer said.

"She lied to you guys about being out?" Aria asked.

"Well, she didn't go far. I checked the driveway and it was dry under her car, so it hadn't been moved all day" I said.

"Who would she want to show this to?" Aria asked.

"I can only think of one person who would care" Hanna said.

"Ian" Aria said, realization dawning on her.

"If she didn't take the car, that means he must be close" Emily said as Spencer took the baby scan from Aria.

"You guys, Hanna's right. This is the worst time for us to be splitting up. We have got to stay together" Spencer said.

"Yeah, no matter how much lying it takes" Hanna nodded.

We all looked at each other and nodded, our eyes filled with nothing but determination.

With that we exited the greenhouse to head back home since it was late and we needed sleep.

However, while walking we past by the Dilaurentis house and saw something on the ground near the garden.

"What is that?" Emily asked, confused.

"I have no idea" I shrugged.

We all stopped to get a better look at what was on the ground.

I couldn't really tell what it was since it was quite dark.

But then we looked up when we saw a bright light flashing in our faces and saw Jason standing a few feet away from us with a flashlight in his hands.

"Oh, it's you" Jason said.

"Yeah, it's...only us" Aria said, quite awkwardly.

"Um, what are you doing?" Spencer asked.

"I've been replanting all day, and I'm putting up a fence" Jason said as he walked towards us.

"A fence? Why? For what?" Hanna asked.

"Privacy. Security" Jason said.

The girls nodded as Jason made his way closer towards us.

"There's a lot of curious creeps in the world, and one way or another, people are gonna mind their own business" Jason sternly said.

He was mostly looking at the girls when he said that, and I can tell they were quite nervous.

"You guys better go home" Jason said.

He looked at me and nodded before turning around and walking away.

Me and the girls turned around and began walking away, but we stopped when we made sure he was really gone.

"Who's he trying to keep out with that fence?" Hanna asked.

"Keep out or...keep in?" Aria said.

We all glanced at each other before looking at his house.
