Chapter Sixty-Two: She's Better Now

Ethan's Pov

I was peacefully sleeping. Well, that was until I was rudely awakened by something.

Or rather someone.

I felt a hand on my shoulder and gasped. My eyes shot open and I quickly sat up from my bed. I grabbed my baseball bat that was near my bedside table and held it in the air, ready to swing at whoever woke me up.

My eyes widened and my heart began pounding more when I realized who it was.

It was freaking Mona.

What the hell is she doing here? Shouldn't she be at Radley?

"Is it a bad time?" Mona asked.

"What the hell do you think? What are you even doing here?" I asked.

I put my baseball bat on the bed but kept my hand around it, refusing to let it go.

You know, just in case I might actually need to use it.

"My doctors released me" Mona said.

"In the middle of the night?" I asked in disbelief.

"Look Ethan, I need your help. My parents are forcing me to go back to school, and I'm...look, I'm so scared" Mona said.

"Mona..." I trailed off.

"Everyone knows what I've done, and I have no one in my corner" Mona said.

"If you're expecting me and my friends to forgive you-" I started but she cut me off.

"I don't expect them too, but, Ethan, you're different" Mona said.

I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion when she said that.

I flinched when she reached over to grab my hand. My other hand tightened around my bat.

"Wren said you were my guardian angel. You and Hanna. He said that you guys stood up for me" Mona said.

I rolled my eyes and quickly pulled my hand out of hers.

"You are not defenseless, Mona. You spent the last two years majoring in torture" I said, clearly annoyed.

"So, you don't believe that a person can get better?" Mona asked, sitting down at the edge of my bed.

I didn't say anything at that.

"Ethan, I had a breakdown, but I've turned the corner. I'm on new meds, everything's changed. I'm not proud of who I was. Just try to see me for who I am. Now" Mona explained.

I pressed my lips into a thin line and I shook my head.

"I do see you, Mona. Before I saw the girl who I thought of as my best friend. Now, I only see the girl that betrayed me after everything I did for her" I explained.

Mona frowned at that. I saw guilt washing through her eyes.

It's fair to say that I'm still not over what she did.

I mean, she ran me over with a car and nearly killed me.

After everything that I did for her in the past and now, she still had the decency to try and kill me.

"Ethan? Honey?" I heard mom ask from behind her door.

Mine and Mona's eyes widened as we glanced at each other.

Why the hell is mom up at this hour? She's always fast asleep during the night.

"Yeah, mom?" I asked.

"Are you alright? I swear I heard voices in there" Mom asked.

"I'm fine, mom. I was just reading out loud, I had trouble sleeping. Go back to sleep, everything's fine" I reassured her.

"Alright, if you say so. Just don't stay up too late, you still have school in the morning" Mom said.

"Got it. Love you, mom" I said.

"Love you too, honey" Mom said.

"Thank you" Mona quietly said.

I just nodded, not being able to say anything else.

I honestly just wanted to go back to sleep. I was tired as hell.

Why did she have to come here in the middle of the night?

The Next Day

I met up with Hanna and we both went to school together. Apparently before coming to my house in the middle of the night, Mona went to Hanna's.

Mona's seriously scared of returning to school when she's done so much shit to us in the past.

And the fact that she wants mine and Hanna's help is just unbelievable.

I honestly shouldn't even be helping her. I still have a grudge against her because she ran me over with a car.

"Hey. I thought you two were playing Mona's bodyguards" Aria said.

"Ok, I said I'd be around for her" Hanna said.

"And I'm not even sure I want to be around her" I sighed.

"You shouldn't. I still can't believe she snuck into our house in the middle of the night and went to your room. I should've barged in and dragged her ass out" Spencer angrily spat.

I chuckled slightly and shook my head at her.

"I'm thinking maybe we all should be her friend" Emily spoke up.

We all looked at her in disbelief. Is she serious right now?

"I mean, if Mona knows why Garrett died, right after he told that story about Aria's dad-" Emily started but Spencer cut her off.

"Stop!" Spencer quickly said, shooting her a pointed look.

Emily realized what she meant and cleared her throat, turning back to her bike.

Hanna and I glanced at each other before looking back at the others.

"What's going on?" Hanna asked.

"Nothing. We're not gonna talk about that" Spencer said.

"No, go ahead. Talk about it. Just do it when I'm not here" Aria deadpanned.

"Aria" Spencer sighed.

"What's next? Are we all gonna start wondering if my dad was on the Halloween train, too?" Aria angrily asked.

"What?" I asked, shocked and confused.

"You actually believe that my own dad would drսg me, and then lock me in a box" Aria angrily said.

She let out a scoff before turning around and walking away to head into school.

However, she stopped dead in her tracks when she spotted Mona standing near the stairs.

When the hell did she get here?

I watched a few people walk past Mona. Some shot her glares, some ignored her and some just said mean things to her.

This honestly brings back memories from when Alison was alive and Mona was labelled as 'loser Mona'.

I shook my head. I can't think about that right now.

In Class

Meredith, the homewrecker that Byron cheated on Ella with, is now taking over our history class. And we all hate it, especially Aria.

I would never call a girl names. I'm not like that.

But after she ruined Ella and Byron's marriage, she has every right to be called that.

Byron deserves a name too. I honestly can't come up with anything else besides cheating ass.

But even so, I can tolerate him more than the homewrecker.

He's not a bad person. He's not a bad dad. I mainly just can't believe he'd ruin his marriage for that homewrecker.

But honestly, I like him alot more than Mr. Marin.

Meredith was currently teaching class while the rest of us were taking notes.

Well, minus Aria and Hanna, who were on their phones.

"The check and balance system was established so that no branch could wield absolute power over another branch. Why do we think this was so important to our founding fathers?" Meredith asked.

I was going to answer when her eyes landed on Aria.

"Aria" Meredith called out to her.

"What?" Aria asked, looking up.

"Look, guys, I don't know what Mrs. Grazzuti's take was, but while I'm here, no phones in class" Meredith sternly said.

"I-I wasn't on my phone" Aria stuttered slightly.

"Yeah, you were. Tell you what. Give it to me" Meredith said, extending her hand.

Aria glared at her before sighing as she handed her her phone.

"This way, you won't even be tempted" Meredith said as she walked away from her.

I heard a few students laughing, causing me to turn around and glare at them.

When they noticed my glare they immediately stopped and looked away. Good.

"It was important to our founding fathers because they wanted to be sure that no one had absolute power" Meredith finished.

We're all extremely happy that class is over. We didn't want to be in the same room as her any longer.

Everyone gathered their things and left.

"Aria, can you stay for a few minutes, please?" Meredith asked.

Aria stopped and stood where she was. The rest of us didn't want to leave her alone with that homewrecker so we stayed behind.

Mona glanced at Hanna and I before sighing as she left the classroom.

"I guess since you travel in a pack, you can all stay" Meredith smiled.

That smile was so damn fake. Just like her entire personality.

"Just so we don't get off on the wrong foot, let's be clear. I have a job to do, and if you guys want to graduate, so do you" Meredith said.

And I want nothing more than to drag you out of this school by the hair and make it clear that you're not welcome.

I can easily hold grudges on people that hurt me or hurt my best friends.

"Look, I saw what you were texting. You're in this class to discuss American history, not mine. Got it?" Meredith asked, her eyes locked on Aria.

I can tell that Aria looked downright angry and frustrated.

She opened her mouth to say something when I decided to step in.

"Well, she wouldn't have to discuss your history if you had kept your legs shut and left her dad alone when you knew damn well he was married at the time" I said.

"Excuse me?" Meredith asked.

"You heard me" I replied without any hesitation.

No way am I going to let this homewrecker put Aria on the spot.

"Now, I'm not completely blaming you. Mr. Montgomery is at fault too. But when he broke things off with you you should've gotten the hint and left Rosewood and never come back. Because you're not welcomed. Trust me on that" I said, trying my best to keep my cool.

Aria was looking at me in shock. Spencer and Emily too.

And, well, Hanna looked more amused than shocked.

I took Aria's phone from Meredith and handed it back to Aria. Aria nodded, thanking me, before I turned back to Meredith.

"With that being said, have a nice day, Homewrecker" I smiled.

Meredith's eyes widened at that while my smile turned into a grin.

I swear I heard Hanna and Aria snort quietly. Hanna hid her face in Spencer's shoulder to stop herself from laughing loudly.

With that, I gestured for the girls to follow me, and they did.

As soon as we walked out of the classroom Aria immediately hugged me.

"You're the absolute bestest friend, ever" Aria smiled widely.

"I know. And you're welcome" I smiled, hugging her back.

I patted her head before we pulled away from the hug. When I walked into the hallway I spotted Alyssa by her locker.

I smiled and walked towards her.

"Hey, you. What's up?" I asked.

"Nothing much. Just trying to clear my head from everything that happened. Especially on the Halloween train" Alyssa said.

"Yeah. Same here" I nodded.

"I heard Mona is back at school. You know, the same Mona that used to torture you, your sister and your friends" Alyssa said.

I honestly don't even want to know how she knows about that.

Rumors, most likely.

"Yeah, I know" I nodded.

"How are you feeling?" Alyssa softly asked.

"I'm not sure how to feel. It's just all new to me, very weird" I sighed.

Alyssa opened her mouth to say something when we heard a scream from down the hallway.

We turned around and our eyes widened and our jaws dropped at what we were seeing.

There was a brain stuck to Mona's locker. Along with a note that said 'takes one mad cow to know another'.

Holy shit. Who the hell put that there?

I was about to walk towards Mona to try and help when she suddenly took the brain off her locker, considering it was being held up with a knife.

All eyes were on her. Everyone had their phones out and were either taking photos or videos.

Mona slowly walked down the hallway, causing everyone to clear a path for her, staring at her in confusion and fear.

Nobody said anything, they all just watched.

Mona tossed the brain inside the bin before turning around to look at everyone, the knife still clutched in her hand.

I could see anger flash through her eyes as she glared at all of us. Her glare mostly set on the other students.

Everyone backed away from her in fear, worried she'll hurt someone.

Alyssa stared at Mona in fear as she clung onto my arm. I swallowed thickly as I shifted in front of her.

Mona finally tossed the knife into the bin, causing all of us to sigh in relief.

However, I narrowed my eyes in confusion when I saw her walk towards Lucas and whisper something in his ear.

When Mona walked away from him I could see fear and disbelief in his eyes.

What did she say to him?

Mona gathered her books and shut her locker before leaving. When she was gone everyone went back to what they were doing.

Hanna walked towards Mona to ask him what she told him.

I looked over to the girls and saw them entering the girls bathroom, causing me to sigh.

"I'll see you later" I whispered to Alyssa.

"Ok" Alyssa nodded.

I rubbed her shoulder in a comforting way before walking towards the girls bathroom.

I walked inside and walked towards Aria and Spencer, who were by the sink.

"So wait, wait. Someone stole that from the bio lab? They have cow brains up there? I didn't even think..." Aria trailed off.

"That's because you got excused from dissection based on vegetarian grounds" Spencer said.

"Guys, people are gonna think that we put that in her locker" Emily said.

"It wasn't vegetarian, it was humanitarian" Aria deadpanned.

"Are you still hating on me?" Spencer asked.

"Possibly" Aria shrugged.

"Guys, pay attention! People are gonna think that was us" Emily said.

"How? When? We were all being held hostage by Meredith. It wasn't in her locker before first period" Spencer said.

"So now we're depending on Meredith to be our alibi?" I asked in disbelief.

"See you in jail" Emily sarcastically said.

"I gotta say Mona's a lot stronger than me. I would've lost it. I kind of felt sorry for her" Aria said.

"Yeah, me too" Emily nodded.

"Ok, are we done feeling sorry? Because she's done a lot worse to us, guys, alot. She ran my brother over with a car and nearly killed him. I'm not going to feel bad for her just because someone put a stupid brain in her locker" Spencer angrily spat.

That's true...

I opened my mouth to say something when the door opened.

I was about to hide behind Spencer when I realized it was just Mona.

"Hi" Mona smiled.

"Hey" Emily smiled.

"Hi" Aria and I nodded.

Mona walked towards the sink and began fixing her hair.

We all glanced at each other before looking back at her.

"Mona, you don't think we had anything to do with that, do you?" Emily asked.

"Of course not. Why would you dump on me after I helped you" Mona said.

"Helped me?" Emily asked.

"Figure out who the creep was that killed your girlfriend" Mona said.

Oh, yeah, that.

Mona turned around

"But I know that there's still bad blood between us, and I know that I have to earn your trust, and prove that I'm worthy. But I will. You'll see" Mona smiled.

Her eyes were mainly locked on mine when she said that, making me a bit uncomfortable.

"I'm better now" Mona smiled, still looking at me.

Spencer glared at her and shifted closer in front of me in a protective way.

Mona smiled at us one last time before turning around and leaving the bathroom.

I have a hard time believing that.

At The Brew

The girls, minus Spencer, and I were at the brew discussing more things about Mona.

Apparently A delivered a gift basket to Ezra about his son. Aria discovered it first and immediately freaked out.

"You're sure you didn't tell her?" Aria asked.

"Ok. Why would either of us tell Mona that Ezra has a kid?" Hanna asked.

"If Ezra would've opened that door-" Aria started but I cut her off.

"He didn't, alright? So just breathe" I angrily snapped.

I seriously couldn't give a damn if Ezra found out about his son through A.

I mean, he deserves to know, I don't get why Aria can't just tell him.

"What'd you do with the basket?" Hanna asked.

"I trashed it. Why? Did you want the jelly beans?" Aria sarcastically asked.

"Aria's right, guys. Mona's up to something. It's not a coincidence of first day she's back, Harold's also there, and somehow doesn't recognize us" Emily said.

"Look, we're not saying it wasn't weird. I just think that maybe he took the job because he wanted to see her" I shrugged.

"Why would he want to see her?" Emily asked.

"She spent a lot of time there. Maybe they were buddies" Hanna said.

"Yeah, but the buddy-moon's over. We need to bust into creepy's closet and see what else he saved for her" Aria said.

I shook my head and took a sip of my coffee.

"Hey" Caleb smiled.

"Hi" Hanna smiled.

They both shared a kiss before Caleb set his bag down as he took out some papers.

"Did you talk to Lucas?" Hanna asked.

"He's not feeling very chatty. But I did find something else" Caleb said, gesturing to the papers.

"What is that?" I asked.

"It's a transcript from the meeting the principal had with Mona and her parents last week" Caleb said.

He handed it to Emily as she and Aria looked at him in shock.

"How did you get this?" Emily asked.

"There's perks to knowing the school's pass code" Caleb smirked proudly.

"What are we looking for?" Hanna asked.

"Page two. Turns out Mona's parents did not want her to come back to Rosewood High. It was Mona who begged to come back in" Caleb explained.

Hold up...?

What...? Mona begged to come back...

"Wait. I thought you guys said that she told you her parents were forcing her" Aria said, looking at Hanna and I.

"Well, I'm guessing she lied. Mona's back to take care of unfinished business" Caleb said.

"I got to go" Emily said as she stood up.

"Hey, feed me. I'm starving" Caleb said.

"Did Mona sign that card on the muffin basket with M or A?" Aria asked.

Hanna sighed as she sat down.

"Could we just take a second before we-" Hanna started but Aria cut her off.

"Before we what? Let her destroy our lives again? Let her run Ethan over with another car? No" Aria sternly said.

Why does everyone bring up that accident?

I've been doing my best to forget about that, especially trying to forget the fact that my ex-best friend was the one that nearly killed me.

"If Ezra finds out that he has a kid through A-" Aria started but I cut her off.

"Oh for gods sake, Aria. It's not that hard to go up to your damn boyfriend and tell him that he has a son. He has the right to know and I don't care how scared you are to tell him. He deserves to know in order to get to know his son more because he's missed out on his life for who knows how many years!" I angrily snapped.

Silence.

Dead silence.

Everyone's eyes were on me. And I mean everyone. Especially Emily and Caleb.

Aria stared at me with wide eyes in shock, confusion and concern.

Honestly, I should be concerned about myself more than anyone. Given that I would never snap at any of my friends that way.

"Bubs" Hanna muttered, looking at me in shock and worry.

I clenched my eyes shut and clenched my jaw before standing up.

"I gotta go" I muttered.

I turned around and walked away, ignoring the calls from Hanna, Aria, Emily and Caleb.

I just had to get out of there. Before I cause another scene.

The Next Day

It was the next day and today is the school fun run.

I was currently in my kitchen, looking at my laptop, munching on a cookie.

Alyssa had come over since she wanted the both of us to head to school together.

Well, we're both ready to head out, but we're currently looking at the video that Mona had posted on my laptop.

Alyssa and I sat next to each other on the kitchen stools as we stared intensely at the screen.

"Ever since I was little, and all through junior high, I was considered a loser. I was humiliated, picked on, and tortured. And as hard as all that misery and torture was..." Mona trailed off.

Alyssa and I glanced at each other before looking back at the screen.

"Before you turn this off, or throw something at the screen, please just hear me out. I've been in Radley for over seven months now. And I wanna tell you about what I learned. I know that you ultimately have to own up. Own up to what you've done, and what's been done to you, and then you have to learn to forgive yourself" Mona finished, tears streaming down her face.

I had to bite my lip to stop myself from crying. The tears were threatening to come out.

Just when I was about to turn my laptop off, Mona spoke up again.

"I just want to thank Ethan Hastings, my best friend. Or, my former best friend, for being my first ever friend in the past. For defending me against the bullying I went through. You were the only person that saw me for who I really am and never thought of me as a loser. I know I hurt you, and really badly, but please remember that I really am sorry for what I did. I'm going to do whatever it takes to earn back your trust and I won't stop until I do. Because whether you hate me or not, I never stopped considering you as my best friend" Mona softly said.

That did it for me.

I let the tears stream down my face as I let out a choked sob. I buried my face into my hands.

Alyssa stared at me in concern before quickly closing my laptop as she turned her body around to face me.

I felt her hand on my shoulder, gently rubbing it, giving me some comfort.

"Ethan, are you ok?" Alyssa softly asked.

I shook my head as I lifted my head up from my hands.

"I don't know. I don't know how to feel about any of this. Part of me is still really angry and betrayed because of what she did. But another part of me feels bad for her and wants to try and reconcile what we had in the past, but..." I trailed off.

I sighed and wiped my tears away before turning to her.

"Is it wrong of me to continue hating her? Is it wrong that I'm not quite ready to forgive her?" I asked.

Alyssa frowned and shook her head. She scooted closer to me and grabbed my hands.

"Ethan, it's completely understandable for you to feel that way. You need to remember that this girl tortured you, your sister and your friends. You also need to remember that she ran you over with a car and nearly killed you. Someone that you used to consider your best friend did all those horrible things" Alyssa sternly but softly explained.

I opened my mouth to say something but Alyssa beat me to it.

"You have every right to hate her. You don't have to forgive her, especially not now. That time will come, not now, but it will come soon. In the meantime, just try your best to forget about her. That way you'll forget about the bad things she's done" Alyssa softly explained.

I stared at her for a few good seconds before a small smile appeared on my face as I shook my head.

"What did I do to deserve an amazing friend like you?" I asked.

"What can I say? I'm one of a kind" Alyssa grinned, flipping her hair.

I rolled my eyes but didn't stop myself from laughing, causing Alyssa to laugh as well.

I shook my head before wrapping my arms around her, engulfing her in a hug. She wrapped her arms around me, hugging me back.

This is nice. It's really nice.

At School

Alyssa and I arrived for the school fun run and I was honestly shocked by the fact that Mona actually came.

Not only that, but many students and teachers were going up to her, either to apologize or give her hugs.

I never thought her video would actually work. I honestly thought people would brush it off and continue hating her.

Alyssa and I got our numbers and maps as we made our way towards the others.

"If you look at your maps, you'll see four checkpoint stations. The run will end in front of the school, where you'll pick up your medal and a complimentary swag bag. We will begin in three minutes" the gym teacher explained through the microphone.

I watched in amusement as Grandma Marin walking towards her and asked who's singing the national anthem.

The gym teacher was going to tell her that they don't do that but Grandma Marin insisted on doing so.

As she began singing we all placed our hands over our hearts.

"Look, you guys. If we ditch the track right before checkpoint two, we can cut through the woods behind school" Spencer explained.

We all huddled closer to her and looked at the map.

"How are we getting in?" Hanna asked.

"It's not locked. They're keeping the bathrooms open for people that are working the finish line" Spencer explained.

"Are you sure that Emily can't meet us?" I asked.

"Yeah, unless she can escape Fort Fields" Aria said.

"Uh, Hanna, forgive me if I sound a little rude. But, why is your grandmother singing?" Alyssa asked.

"Because she can" Hanna chuckled, fondly shaking her head.

I chuckled and nodded because that's true.

"I think Mona was on the Halloween train that night" Hanna said.

"Say that again" Aria said, turning to her.

Hanna only sighed and shook her head. I narrowed my eyes at her, but once again, she just shook her head.

The gym teacher had enough of Grandma Marin's singing and pointed the gun upwards as she pulled the trigger.

With that we all began running.

A Few Minutes Later

We managed to ditch the race in order to head inside school.

Alyssa said she'll cover for us in case someone notices we're missing.

When we got down to the basement we were surprised when we saw Emily already there, trying to pick the lock with a paper clip.

"Emily?" I asked.

"Em, how did you get here?" Hanna asked.

"Long story. Just do me a favor. Don't call or text me until tomorrow. This isn't working" Emily sighed.

"That's because it's a paper clip. You have to use a Bobby pin. Have I taught you nothing?" Spencer asked.

I shook my head at my sister as she took her bobby pin out of her hair and began picking the lock.

She got the door to open and we all walked inside, turning the lights on.

"The bag was right here, wasn't it?" Hanna asked.

I narrowed my eyes when I spotted a familiar book on the desk.

I walked towards it and picked it up. I showed it to Spencer and she had a knowing look in her eyes.

I opened it up and began skimming through the pages.

"That's the book he was writing in" Emily said.

"What does it say?" Aria asked, walking towards us.

"Looks like he was writing a long letter to Mona, cause he thinks that this is her diary" Spencer said.

"Is it? Was this in the motel room?" Aria asked.

" Yeah, it was, but, you guys, this isn't Mona's. This is Ali's" I said and Spencer nodded.

"Is this the same one you saw in Mona's lair?" Hanna asked.

"I'm positive" Spencer nodded.

"Let me see this" Aria said as she took the book from me.

She began reading one particular page and all of our eyes widened when we saw that it was about her dad.

"Aria, is this about your dad?" Hanna asked.

Aria didn't say anything, she continued reading, she had to know what Alison wrote.

We all began reading it for ourselves and what we saw made our eyes widen in disbelief.

Alison was blackmailing Mr. Montgomery. She threatened to tell Ms. Montgomery about his affair with Meredith if he didn't give her money.

When I turned to Aria I saw that she was angry and betrayed. I can see that she was trying to hold in her tears.

This must be really hard for her...

"Aria-" Spencer started.

"Don't" Aria cut her off, a little harshly.

All of a sudden we heard a door slam, causing us to jump.

Hanna snatched the book from Aria and tried to give it to Emily.

"Emily, put this in your jacket" Hanna said.

"Maybe we should leave it here. If he knows that it's missing, he'll think it was one of us" Emily said.

"Us? He doesn't even know who you are. Just take it" Hanna snapped.

"Give it to me" Aria said.

She grabbed the book and ripped out the page that talks about her dad before closing the book.

She set the book down and we all quickly left the room. But before we could head back upstairs we saw Harold standing in front of us.

"What are you doing down here?" Harold asked.

"Um, all of the bathrooms upstairs were full, so we came down here, but we can use the ones on the second floor" Spencer said.

"We're sorry. You guys, come on" I said.

We all began walking but we stopped when we saw that Harold was cornering Aria.

"What have you got there?" Harold asked.

Aria tried moving away from him but he kept blocking her. Aria managed to get away from him but he grabbed the paper she was holding.

"Give it to me!" Aria yelled, trying to grab the paper.

"Spencer?" Toby asked.

"Ethan?" Alyssa asked.

We spun around and saw Toby and Alyssa standing next to each other.

"What's going on? Are you guys ok?" Toby asked, looking at us in worry.

"Yeah, we're fine. We just had to get something I accidentally threw away" Aria said.

She snatched the paper back from him and walked towards us.

We didn't need to think twice before leaving. I grabbed Alyssa's hand as we all left to head back outside.

As soon as we were outside we all let out breaths of relief.

"Thank god you guys came down there" Emily sighed.

"I mean, we know how Alyssa found us. But how did you know we were there?" Hanna asked.

"I got to the finish line early, and then, I saw the four of you go in that back door" Toby said.

"He spotted me going in after I finished and we decided to head down together" Alyssa added.

I smiled at her and she smiled back at me.

"It doesn't even matter. We're just so lucky you guys were here" Spencer sighed.

Toby nodded as he wrapped an arm around her, placing a gentle kiss to her temple.

I wrapped an arm around Alyssa and rested my chin on her head. She giggled and snuggled closer to my side.

All of a sudden we heard an explosion.

We all looked up and our eyes widened when we saw that the storage shed was now engulfed in flames.

We heard screams coming from inside, causing my eyes to widen.

"MONA!" I screamed.

I ran downstairs and tried to get inside the shed to get Mona out, but Alyssa and Spencer grabbed my arms.

Lots of other students began screaming Mona's name while the teachers told us to stay back.

Who the hell would do this?
