Chapter Seventy-Three: A Is For A-L-I-V-E

Ethan's Pov

The girls and I were staring at the inside of the trunk in disgust. I wanted to throw up.

Inside of the trunk was none other than a dead pig.

A freaking dead pig.

Oh dear god I wanted to throw up right then and there. But I refrained from doing so.

"What the...?" Aria muttered.

The girls were covering their mouths in disgust, doing their best not to throw up themselves.

It was only then that I realized that Mona wasn't here. She was missing.

"Where's Mona?" I asked, confused.

The girls looked around and their eyebrows furrowed in confusion when they saw that Mona was indeed missing.

Where the hell did she go...?

"This was all her. She set us up" Aria gritted her teeth.

"Ok, let's go. Let's get out of here" Emily said.

"Come on" Spencer said.

We all walked towards the car, only to stop and turn around when we saw Hanna walking back towards the car.

"Hanna! Hanna, let's go!" Spencer yelled.

I ran towards the car, only for my eyes to widen in surprise when I saw Mona in the front seat.

How the hell did she get there without any of us seeing her?

"God, Mona, what are you doing?" Hanna asked in confusion.

"Saving your mom" Mona replied.

Can't she just take the entire thing with her so we can get the hell out of here.

"Guys" Aria whispered.

We all turned around and our eyes widened when we saw a couple nearby, taking a night walk.

"Someone's coming" Aria whispered, clearly nervous.

"Hey, they're coming this way. Hurry up!" I whisper yelled at them.

Mona ignored us and continued what she was doing while Hanna tried to get her to hurry up.

Emily and Aria ran towards the car while Spencer grabbed my arm and pulled me with her.

"Hurry up before we get caught!" I whisper yelled at Mona.

I let my sister drag me away as she opened the car and got inside.

Emily and Aria were in the front. Emily started the car and drove closer to where Mona and Hanna were.

Finally, Mona got out of the car and her and Hanna ran towards us.

I opened the car door for them, letting them in before Mona shut the door and we were off.

Back At Home

Finally, we were home.

We made sure to lock all doors and windows. We were taking extra precautions.

Spencer had turned on the news to see if Wilden's car and the pig had been reported. Emily and Hanna were watching with her.

Aria was looking out the window while Mona sat on the couch.

"There's a report on the lodge, but nothing about Wilden's car" Spencer sighed.

"Well, I guess the fire trumps a dead pig" Hanna rolled her eyes.

"You can stop staring out the window, Aria. The cops aren't coming to arrest us" Mona said.

Aria turned around and glared at her, looking at her in disbelief.

"I'm supposed to feel safe just because you say it's all okay now? After everything you've put us through" Aria angrily asked.

"Do you think we'd be sitting here if anyone saw us?" Mona asked.

"Wanna know what I think? I think you're lucky that we're not beating the crap out of you" Emily angrily spat.

"And I believe you could, Emily. You really were the weakest link" Mona said.

Emily's eyes widened while I turned around to glare at my ex-best friend.

"But look how strong I made you. You should be thanking me" Mona said.

"Ok, that's it" Emily declared.

She stalked towards Mona, a glare settled on her face with her fists clenched at her sides.

I rushed forward and stood in front of Mona, stopping Emily from swinging at her.

"Em. Relax" I sternly said.

Emily gritted her teeth as the others rushed forward.

"You know we all want to take a turn" Aria glared at Mona.

"But we won't" Hanna sternly said.

I nodded before turning around so I could face my ex-best friend.

"You like games, right, Mona? So, let's play one called the third degree" I said.

"How did you get the car out of the lake?" Hanna asked.

"I didn't. I put the car in Hanna's garage, and that was the last time I saw it" Mona said.

We all glanced at each other before nodding as we went to sit down.

We're finally going to get answers and there's no way in hell we're going to miss any of it.

"Shana knew Jenna before she came to Rosewood. I think she's in love with her. They're both afraid of Melissa" Mona explained.

Mine and Spencer's eyes widen as we glanced at each other.

Why are they scared of Melissa...?

"When Cece came to Radley, I thought she was Ali. I don't remember what we talked about. It was before they changed my meds" Mona explained.

What the hell was Cece doing in Radley in the first place?

"Lucas gave Emily that massage. He said you were tense" Mona said.

Emily's eyes widen slightly while I sighed and shook my head.

Well, at least it was Lucas and not someone else that was hired by Mona.

"I recruited Toby when he got that job in bucks county" Mona said.

Spencer frowned and shook her head, trying to erase all of that from her head.

While I merely rolled my eyes and crossed my arms over my chest.

"I didn't push Ian off the bell tower. I wish I knew who did" Mona sighed.

Seriously...?

It wasn't Mona that pushed him off the bell tower, are you kidding me?

Then who the hell was it?

I want that person to come forward so I can hug them for doing all of us a favor.

The Next Day

A groan escaped my lips as my eyes fluttered open, however, my eyebrows furrowed together when I found myself lying on the ground.

I slowly sat up and saw Hanna sleeping on the couch that was near the fireplace.

I turned around and saw Aria and Spencer sleeping on the other couch while Emily was sleeping on the ground like me.

However, what worried me was that the door was open and Mona was nowhere to be seen.

"Mona's gone!" I yelled, definitely knowing I alerted the girls.

Their eyes snapped open and one by one they started waking up.

"I don't remember falling asleep" Spencer frowned.

"Did she drug us?" Aria asked, frowning herself.

"Wouldn't be the first time" Emily scoffed, rolling her eyes.

"You guys, she still has that chip" Hanna's eyes widened in fear.

I let out a gasp when I saw someone walking by from outside, causing the girls to turn around.

I only sighed in slight relief when I realized that it was Mona, who didn't enter the house empty handed.

She smiled faintly at us before closing the door.

She walked towards the kitchen but stopped and turned over to Emily.

"Oh, Emily, I borrowed your car" Mona told her.

Emily stared at her before turning over to the kitchen counter and furrowed her eyebrows together in confusion when she saw her keys resting there.

"Yeah, I have my own set" Mona nodded.

Do I even want to know...?

We all stood up and walked over to her, cornering her to prevent her from leaving if she tried.

"Where'd you go?" Hanna asked.

"Coffee run. Duh" Mona deadpanned.

"Where else did you go?" I asked, trying not to let out too much frustration.

Mona stared at me before shaking her head as she grabbed one of the cups from the holder.

"Americano, one pink" Mona looked over at Emily.

Emily gave her a weird look before hesitantly taking the cup from her.

"Dry soy cap" Mona looked over at Aria.

Aria glared at her before hesitantly taking the cup from her.

"Super-sized drip, with three sugars. Of course, for the Hasting twins" Mona said.

Spencer and I glanced at each other before hesitantly taking our cups from her but we didn't drink right away.

Even though I desperately needed some coffee in my system.

"And a skinny vanilla for you. Did I get it right?" Mona asked, raising an eyebrow at us.

"I want the chip, Mona. And I want it now" Hanna demanded.

Mona ignored that and turned around, setting the holder down as she grabbed the two white bags she set on the counter.

"And I also got breakfast. Multigrain scone. For both my best friends" Mona said.

I let out a frustrated yell and snatched the bag from her, watching as the girls flinched at my sudden outburst.

"We're not in the damn mood to play room service! Just give Hanna the damn chip!" I yelled.

Mona didn't flinch at my outburst while the others did, clearly worried and a little scared.

Spencer gently placed her hand on my shoulder and rubbed it, hoping to calm me down.

While my sister did help calm me down, it would've been a bit better if Alyssa had been here to help me.

I feel better when she's around, I feel calmer and happier when she's around.

Mona sighed before turning her attention over to Hanna.

"I wish I could give it to you, Hanna. But I can't" Mona told her.

"Why not?" Emily asked this time.

"I need to find out who Red Coat is and so do you. She tried to kill all of us, so, like it or not, we are in this together" Mona sternly said.

I hate the fact that she's right about that.

"Ok, prove it" Aria sternly said.

"Yeah, we want everything you have on us" Spencer sternly said.

"Now" I demanded.

Mona glanced at all of us before pressing her lips together.

"Mi casa es su casa" Mona spoke in spanish.

"In English" Hanna deadpanned.

"She's taking us to her lair" Spencer and I spoke in unison.

Believe it or not but we did take our time to eat breakfast and drink the coffee Mona got for us.

Spencer and I went to take a shower and change into cleaner clothes since the last thing we wanted was for people to get suspicious.

When all of that was taken care of we got into Emily's car and drove off.

The girls were in the back, Emily was driving while I was in the passenger seat.

However, we had to stop because there was lots of traffic.

We were by the same place yesterday where we found the muddy cop car and the dead pig.

The place was surrounded by police and their cars and something was being covered by a white sheet.

Why are there so many cops? Why is the ambulance here? Did someone die or whatever?

"All this for a muddy cop car and a dead pig?" Emily asked, confused and a little annoyed.

We watched as the sheet was blown slightly away due to the wind.

The dead body was revealed and the girls all gasped in utter shock and disbelief.

It's Detective Wilden...

He's dead...

"It's Wilden" Hanna gasped.

The girls were still in a state of shock while I scoffed and leaned back in my seat.

"Why is everyone making such a big deal out of this? It's a simple muddy car and a stupid dead pig" I rolled my eyes.

However, I wasn't referring to the actual dead pig.

I was referring to Wilden.

Never liked him. He was a pig. So, oh well.

"Oh, my god" Aria muttered.

"You're mine now. I know what the text meant" Mona told us.

"A has a way to make it look like we killed him" Spencer frowned.

We all jumped when we heard banging on Emily's car. We turned around and saw a police officer at the front, signalling us that we could move.

Emily nodded and began driving away once the officer moved out of the way.

At Mona's Lair

We were all at the lair and looking at everything Mona had in here to get answers for basically anything.

We needed something that could help us.

Hanna and Spencer were sitting while Aria, Emily and I were standing.

Mona was standing too but a bit further away from us, just watching us closely.

"If Red Coat's A, why did she save Hanna and Mona from the fire?" Aria asked.

"So she could set us up to take the fall for Wilden's murder" Mona scoffed.

"Yeah, a cat plays with a mouse for hours before she actually eats it. Once it's dead, the fun's over" Spencer explained.

"So we're Ali's mice?" I asked, frowning.

"We're her dolls" Spencer scoffed.

"Guys, Alison isn't playing with us, ok. She's dead" Emily reminded us.

I don't believe that.

I know what I saw last night and it was definitely Alison, not some random person in a mask.

Alison is alive. I know it. But, it's gonna take the others some time to believe it too.

Aria grabbed a mask that looked oddly familiar.

I watched as Hanna took the mask from her and examined it carefully before looking up at Mona.

"You were on the Halloween train. Dressed like Caleb" Hanna's eyes widened in realization.

"To think we were this close to our first kiss" Mona grinned.

Well...that's, uh, weird...

Don't get me wrong, I support anyone that's apart of the lgbtq.

Considering I, myself, am apart of too given that I'm bisexual.

But, I just can't really imagine Hanna or Mona kissing each other for many reasons.

"And to getting rid of me for good" Aria added, scowling angrily.

"That wasn't me. And I can prove it" Mona sighed.

We watched as she turned around and grabbed her laptop and began opening it up.

She set it on the table and we all huddled closer so we could see what she wanted to show us.

"When I took this, you were already in the box. And these two put you in there" Mona told her

We watched as a video began playing. We could hear a sound that was one of a train.

A mans back was facing the video before he raised his hand before turning around.

"It's not gonna happen!" Wilden yelled.

The girls eyes widened while my jaw clenched and my fist clenched tightly at my side.

"That's Wilden" Emily gasped, her eyes widening.

"He was the queen of hearts?" Aria asked, clearly in disbelief.

"That asshole deserves what he got. I'm happy he's buried six feet under" I scoffed, rolling my eyes.

I really want A to reveal themselves so I can hug them.

If they killed Wilden, thank the heavens because I wanted that man gone ever since he started harassing us because he believed one of us killed Allison.

"Listen to me. Just leave her. Plans have changed. Garrett's going to tell them everything" Wilden said.

He walked over to another person. Another queen of hearts.

"There's two of them?" Aria asked, her eyes widening even more.

"We can't let that happen" he told the second person.

"Who is that?" Emily asked, confused and curious.

Silence took over us before Mona spoke.

"Your sister" she revealed, her eyes locked onto mine and Spencer's.

The girls all looked over at us while Spencer and I glanced at each other, unable to believe what we just heard.

Melissa was the queen of hearts...?

We turned back to the video and saw that the second person was taking their mask off, getting ready to reveal themselves.

However, before we could even get a glimpse of their face, the video cut off.

"What the fuck?" I blurted out.

"Oh, yeah, that's convenient. Right before you could actually prove it" Spencer scoffed, rolling her eyes.

Mona's eyes widened as she quickly turned her laptop around and hastily began typing.

"Wait, Mona, what's going on?" Hanna asked, confused.

"Someone's deleting all my files" Mona told her.

"Mona, shut it down!" I yelled at her.

"I'm trying to!" she yelled back in frustration.

She kept on typing but before we knew it, her computer went black and all her files were now gone.

Mona let out a disbelieving scoff as she tugged at her hair in frustration.

Are you kidding me right now?

Who the hell deleted all her files? We were so close to getting everything we needed and now it's all gone.

"Alison! Faster!" we heard a little girl yell.

We all jumped and turned around, our eyebrows furrowing in confusion and slight fear.

"Come out, come out, wherever you are!" another little girl yelled.

I was the first one to leave and the girls quickly followed behind me.

"It's not fair, Aria. It was Emily's idea!" this time a little boy yelled.

The girls and I glanced at each other before we spotted a small playground nearby.

We walked over to it and we saw five girls and one boy playing together. Each of them were holding dolls.

What's creepy about those dolls is that they looked exactly like us.

"Hey, there!" I yelled out to the kids.

One of the girls, she had long black hair, stopped what she was doing and walked over to us.

"Hi" the girl politely replied.

The other girls and the boy walked over, they were all holding onto their dolls.

"Where did you get these dolls?" Aria asked.

"They were a present. Mine's name is Aria. And that's Hanna, Spencer, Ethan, Emily, and Mona" the girl replied, naming all the dolls each of them had.

I swallowed thickly at that while the girls tensed.

"Who gave them to you?" Mona asked.

"Your friend, Alison. She started playing with us right after you moved in" this time the little boy replied.

The girls and I exchanged looks at that before looking back at the kids.

The Next Day

I was over at Alyssa's house so I could fill her in on everything that happened.

Luckily, her parents had taken her siblings to roller skate and then get some icecream so they won't be home till later.

I was sitting on the ground, near my girlfriends bed, while my girlfriend sat on her bed.

"Who the hell set the lodge on fire?" Alyssa asked.

"I don't know. We're assuming it was A, or maybe Wilden, but right now we're not sure" I told her.

"But you and the girls are alright, right?" she asked in concern.

"We're fine. The flames knocked us unconscious for a few minutes and we had some burns, but other than that we were alright" I explained.

"That's a relief" Alyssa sighed.

I nodded slightly and shrugged my shoulders.

Just as long as we're still alive and breathing that's all that matters.

"And then Mona had taken you all to her lair to give you all the information you needed?" Alyssa asked, raising an eyebrow.

"We were able to gain some information, not all of it. We're still not sure if the second queen of hearts is Melissa or not" I sighed.

"Do you think it was?" she asked.

"I don't know what to think or what to believe anymore" I frowned.

Everything has just been entire roller coaster for the girls and I that we're just unsure of how to process everything.

Not to mention we're still not close to finding out who A is.

This nightmare isn't gonna end unless we unmask this person.

Alyssa sighed and hopped off her bed before joining me on the ground, sitting at my right side.

"Can I ask you something, babe?" Alyssa asked.

"Of course, beautiful" I nodded.

"Do you trust Mona? After everything that she's done and after everything that has happened" she asked.

I frowned at that and bit the inside of my cheek, debating on what to say.

Finally, I figured out what to say and ran a hand down my face.

"Mona betrayed my trust when she ran me over with that car and was the we're all in this mess in the first place" I started off with.

I sighed and turned over to face my girl.

"But, she was my best friend. And although I don't consider her as one right now, I have to understand that she's involved in this too and I have no choice but to trust her. Especially when she seems to know more than any of us" I explained.

Mona isn't my friend nor is she my enemy.

Right now, I consider her as my frenemy.

And, honestly, I'd rather have a frenemy than an enemy.

And given the situation we're in, we need her.

Alyssa sighed and nodded before resting her head on my shoulder. I smiled at her and wrapped my arm around her waist, kissing her head.

The Next Day

I had plans to meet up with Alyssa, we had something to discuss in regards to school, but before I could meet her I had to eat breakfast.

I walked downstairs, expecting to find Spencer already eating or having already left.

However, I stopped dead in my tracks at the sight in front of me.

Toby and Spencer were sitting on the kitchen stools while eating breakfast together, both of them looked content with each other.

Spencer must've sensed my presence, call it a twin thing, and turned around to look at me.

"Oh, hey, Ethan. You're up" she smiled.

"Yeah. I'm up" I nodded.

Toby cleared his throat, causing my head to turn to him, as he shyly smiled at me.

"Hey, Ethan" Toby smiled.

My face remained neutral and I crossed my arms over my chest, raising an eyebrow at him.

"Why are you here?" I asked instead of greeting him.

Toby's smile fell and he looked hurt at that while Spencer closed her eyes and let out a sigh.

"I invited him over so we could discuss a few things and he made breakfast too" Spencer told me.

"Yeah. There's still some left, you're welcome to-" he started but I cut him off.

"I'd rather starve. I don't want to get poisoned this early in the morning" I spat at him.

Toby flinched at my tone and he looked down at his plate, a frown forming on his face.

"Ethan" Spencer glared at me, standing up.

"What? Did you think I would forget about everything he did to us? Everything he did to you?" I asked.

If Toby was expecting me to just forgive and forget then he's an idiot.

"Ethan, you know he only joined Mona to gain information out of her and to figure out who redcoat is. He was never on her team" Spencer explained.

"I don't care what his reasons were. He still joined Mona when he knew everything she put us through. You want me to forgive someone that joined the team of the person that ran me over and almost killed me?" I asked.

Spencer opened her mouth to say something when Toby stood up.

My head snapped in his direction and I raised an eyebrow at him, waiting for him to say something.

"Ethan, I know I made a mistake..." Toby trailed off.

"You're self aware? It's a miracle" I sarcastically smiled.

Spencer shot me another glare while Toby sighed.

"But you have to understand that I didn't have much of a choice. I did what I had to do to not only protect Spencer, but you and the girls" he told me.

"And how did that turn out, huh?" I asked, raising an eyebrow at him.

He didn't say anything, he simply looked down at his shoes.

I scoffed at that and turned around and made my way towards the door.

"Where are you going?" Spencer asked.

"I'm going to the brew to have breakfast there. I refuse to be in the same room as that guy" I told her.

Without looking back, I waved at them before opening the door and walking out of the house.

Late At Night

Alyssa and I spent nearly the entire day at the library since we did have some upcoming tests that we needed to prepare for.

One thing I hate about school is tests. They're extremely stressful.

When we were done studying it was already close to ten.

And, being a gentlemen and loving boyfriend that I am, I'm going to walk Alyssa home before going home myself.

"Babe, you know you didn't have to walk me home. I didn't want to bother you with it" Alyssa said.

I turned my head to look at her and raised an eyebrow at her.

"Are you crazy? There's no way I was going to let you walk home alone, especially this late at night" I told her.

"You know I can take care of myself. I know how to fight and I always carry a taser with me" Alyssa pouted.

I laughed softly at her reaction and leaned down to kiss her pout away.

"I know, beautiful. But, I can never forgive myself for letting you walk home alone. There are tons of creeps lurking at night and I don't want any of them going near you" I explained.

Trust me, I would kill any creep that tries anything with my girl.

Speaking of my girl...

She sighed at that before wrapping her arm around my waist as she snuggled closer to my side.

"What did I do to deserve someone like you?" Alyssa asked, a smile plastered on her face.

I laughed softly and wrapped my arm around her shoulders, keeping her close.

"I should be the one asking that" I winked at her.

Alyssa laughed at that and fondly shook her head at me, placing a kiss to my clothed shoulder.

I smiled down at her and kissed her head, causing her smile to brighten even more.

Finally, after a few more minutes of walking we reached her house.

"Well, my stop ends here. But, thanks again for walking me home, babe" Alyssa smiled at me.

"Of course. You know I'd do anything for you" I smiled at her.

She nodded at that as she released her hold on me and took her steps towards her house.

I stood there, waiting for her to walk inside to make sure she actually gets in.

I need to make sure she's safely inside her house. I don't want anything happening to her.

But, before she could head inside, she turned around and walked back over to me.

She wrapped her arms around my neck and pulled me into a kiss. A kiss that I easily returned as I placed my hands onto her hips.

The kiss was sweet and so loving that I wanted it to last for as long as it could.

Kissing Alyssa brings me nothing but joy and happiness and I absolutely love it.

We pulled away from the kiss, panting slightly, and pressed our foreheads together as we stared into each others eyes.

"I love kissing you" Alyssa giggled.

"The same goes for me" I chuckled.

"Promise me you'll get home safe. You better call or text me and tell me you made it home safely" Alyssa sternly said.

"Don't worry, beautiful. As soon as I'm home I'll text you" I promised her.

"Good" Alyssa grinned.

She kissed me one last time before turning around and walking over to her house.

I smiled and watched her enter her house and let out a sigh when she closed her door.

I turned around and started walking away from her house. Just as I was about to cross the street, my phone chimed.

Furrowing my eyebrows in confusion, I stopped walking and took my phone out of my pocket.

I opened it up and read the message.

You and Alyssa make a cute couple. She really makes you happy. But, I wonder, how long will your happiness last when your past comes crawling back?

- A

My eyes widened slightly at that and I felt some fear rise in me.

How the hell...?

I turned around, making sure to check my surroundings in case someone was watching me. But, so far, nothing.

I swallowed thickly and stuffed my phone into my pocket before crossing the street.

I made sure to keep a fast pace as I walked, wanting to get home as soon as possible.

The Next Day

Today is Wilden's funeral.

The girls and I are going not because we're gonna pay our respects or because we're sad he's gone.

We're only going to see if there's anything in the church or, maybe, Wilden's coffin that can lead us to A.

Oh and because I want to dance on Wilden's grave once he's buried six feet under.

The girls and I stood together and I was honestly shocked by how many people came just to pay their respects for a pig like Wilden.

A creep like him doesn't deserve something like this.

The girls and I watched as a few officers hoisted the coffin up and carried it inside.

"Do you really think A put something in there? With his rotting, stinking corpse" Hanna asked, disgusted.

"Since there's a viewing, you can assume that he's been embalmed. And that would suspend decomposition and prevent the mourners from having to deal with the rotting and eventual putrescence of the corpse" Spencer explained.

"Spence" I sighed, closing my eyes shut.

I love my sister, but did she have to say all of that when Hanna just asked a simple question.

"Ok, what the hell did she just say?" Hanna asked, her eyes immediately meeting mine.

"Translation. Yes" I deadpanned, glancing at my sister who huffed.

"Who is that?" Aria suddenly asked.

We all turned around and we saw a woman who was hiding her face with a black veil.

What the hell...?

We watched as she walked inside the church before looking back at each other, getting back to the manner at hand.

"Guys, closed caskets keep secrets. His is open and exposes yours. There's something in that coffin that's incriminating to us" I explained.

"Are you really so sure about everything you're so sure about?" Aria asked, raising an eyebrow at me.

"Yes" I deadpanned.

"And in about thirty minutes they're going to open the casket for viewing, people are going to walk past to say goodbye to Wilden. Whatever A has on us..." Spencer trailed off.

"Ok, we didn't kill Wilden. So what could it be? Besides another set-up" Emily scoffed.

"Yeah, Em's right. We shouldn't even be here. If we get busted for poking around that casket..." Hanna trailed off.

"I don't think we have a choice. We have to look" Spencer argued.

I nodded while Hanna sighed and rubbed her arm nervously.

"I mean, at my grandma's funeral, they kept the casket in a private room until the service started" Aria told us.

"Let's just go find it" I said.

We all nodded and walked inside the church.

Once we were inside I was a little surprised that the casket wasn't where it should be.

"Aria was right. The casket isn't here yet" Emily said.

"Ok, so let's split up. And if you find it, send out an S.O.S" I told the girls.

They all nodded and made sure to take their phones out before we went our separate ways.

Hanna and I stayed together and we just looked around, trying to see who was here and trying to see if we could find the casket.

"So, why isn't Alyssa here?" Hanna asked.

"Well she didn't really know Wilden and neither did her family. Plus, they had some sort of event they had to attend" I told her.

"Man. That sucks" Hanna huffed.

"For me or for you? As far as I'm concerned she's my girlfriend, not yours" I asked in amusement.

"For both of us. After all, Alyssa is a good person and a good friend. I like her" Hanna pouted.

I laughed at her reaction and fondly shook my head at her.

All of a sudden her phone rings. Hanna looks confused and so do I and I watch her take her phone out of her pocket.

She furrows her eyebrows together before picking the call, putting it on speaker so I could hear too.

"Hello?" Hanna asked.

"Hanna?" I could hear Spencer...? ask.

"Why are you calling me on my mom's phone?"  Hanna asked, clearly confused.

A Few Minutes Later

The girls, along with Mona, and I regrouped and we were now standing in the middle of the room.

We were huddled together as Hanna held onto her mom's phone that Spencer had given her when her and Mona returned.

"How did A get this?" Hanna asked, quickly putting her mom's phone in her purse.

"You're sure it's hers?" Emily asked.

"God, if anything happens to my mom..." Hanna trailed off, clearly worried.

"When was the last time you talked to her?" Spencer asked.

"This morning. She called me from the hotel" Hanna said.

"Buttercup, that's good. That means she's ok" I tried to reassure her.

"Hanna, there's no way we're letting A bring down Mrs. M" Mona reassured her.

"So, is that what this means? My mom's A's target?" Hanna asked in concern.

I sure hope not.

Mrs. Dilaurentis walked over to us and we quickly stopped talking about the phone, Ms. Marin and A and looked at the woman.

"You girls all look so pretty. And Ethan, you look handsome as always" Mrs. Dilaurentis complimented all of us.

"Hi, Mrs. Dilaurentis" Hanna politely smiled.

"Ali would be so proud of you, Hanna. You've really kept the weight off" Mrs. Dilaurentis smiled at her.

My jaw clenched at that and I resisted the urge to glare at the woman.

Hanna tensed at what she said before swallowing thickly as she smiled tightly at her.

"Thank you" Hanna said, trying not to show any anger.

"Why don't you kids come and sit next to me?" Mrs. Dilaurentis suggested.

We all nodded and followed her as she began walking to one of the benches.

I wrapped my arm around Hanna's shoulders and kissed her head, hoping that would calm her down over what Mrs. Dilaurentis said to her.

The girls and I sat down with Mrs. Dilaurentis.

Mona frowned when she realized that there was no more room. She simply nodded at us before turning around to sit on another bench.

I sighed before turning my head around. The girls did the same too.

We were surprised when we saw Jenna and some guy walk inside as they took their seats on a bench in the middle.

However, what caught our attention was the woman who was hiding her face behind the black veil.

"Who is that?" Spencer quietly asked.

That's something we all want to know.

We quieted down once the priest began speaking, signalling the start of the funeral.

After The Funeral

When the funeral was over the girls and I got out of the church.

However, we stopped at the top of the steps when we saw the same woman walking over to a limo.

"Who is that?" Emily asked, her eyes on the woman wearing the black veil.

We watched as she got in, closed the door before the limo drove off.

"Emily, Spencer, Ethan, Aria, and Hanna?" we heard someone call out to us.

We turned around and saw a man, probably around his late twenties or something, wearing a nice suit walking over to us.

"Yes?" Aria asked, raising an eyebrow at him.

"I'm Officer Holbrook. Pennsylvania state police" the man, Holbrook, said.

The girls and I walked down the steps and stopped when we were a few feet in front of him.

"My partner and I are investigating the murder of Officer Reynolds and Detective Wilden" Holbrook told us.

He took out a card and handed it to Spencer.

"We already spoke to the police when Garrett was killed" Emily told him.

"I read that in the report. I've actually been reading a lot about you five" Holbrook said.

Oh, great.

Just what we needed. Wilden 2.0.

"Wilden had a thing for you" Holbrook raised an eyebrow at us.

I scoffed at that, resisting the urge to glare and yell at him.

"He had a nasty habit of harassing us" Spencer corrected him, placing her hand on my shoulder.

"I've read through most of his notes and I agree with you. His conduct borders on unprofessional at best" Holbrook said.

"Thank you" Hanna rolled her eyes.

"So why did you come to his funeral?" Holbrook asked.

"I didn't want to, but I changed my mind. I want to be able to dance on his grave later on" I smirked.

"Ethan!" the girls yelled, giving me looks of disbelief.

I rolled my eyes and shrugged my shoulders. That was the truth.

Holbrook let out a small laugh at what I said and I allowed myself to smile slightly at that.

"Ignoring what our friend said. We're here supporting our local police department" Emily said.

"I'm sure it's appreciated. We'll probably have to bring you in for questioning" Holbrook said.

"What else is new" I scoffed, rolling my eyes.

"But remember, we're the good guys. Just here to find out the truth" Holbrook smiled at us.

I call bullshit on that but whatever.

Holbrook nodded at us before turning around and walking away.

When he was gone all of our phones chimed. We glanced at each other before taking our phones out.

"Truth won't set you free, bitches" I read off.

"I'm going to bury you with it" Mona spoke as she walked over and joined us.

"Kisses, A" Spencer finished.

"Oh, my god" Emily gasped.

We all looked at her in concern, especially when we saw the fear in her eyes.

Emily scooted closer to our side and showed us a video on her phone, we all huddled closer so we could see.

Our eyes widened when we realized it was a video from last night.

"A was there that night?" Spencer asked, shocked.

A had followed us and recorded the entire thing.

"She recorded the whole thing" I gritted out.

Meaning that A can use this video on us if she wants to. She could probably pin Wilden's murder on us.

And no doubt the cops will believe the video, strong evidence, over us.

Emily turned her phone off as the girls and I stood where we stood, clearly nervous and uneasy about the situation we were in.

Just what the hell are we supposed to do now...?
