Chapter Nineteen: The Badass Seed
Ethan's Pov
Me and the girls were at school, sitting on the ground waiting for our auditions for the school play.
"If you're trying out for The Bad Seed, you need to sign up here and wait by the auditorium door until your name is called. Thank you and good luck" Mr. Fitz yelled to all the students that were here.
"Start with the line about the stolen medal" Spencer said.
"Why isn't she wearing any shoes?" Hanna asked, pointing towards a girl that didn't have any shoes.
"So she can look short enough to play an 8-year-old" I said, shaking my head.
"What's my line?" Spencer asked.
Emily began looking through the pages, trying to find Spencer's line.
"I don't see anything about a medal" Emily said as Spencer looked at the paper.
"That's what the 8-year-old killed her classmate for. The penmanship medal. That's why they call her the bad seed" Spencer said.
"Penmanship medal, really?" Hanna asked.
"Didn't you read the whole play?" Spencer asked.
Spencer looked at me and Aria as the both of us shrugged at her.
"Don't look at us, Hanna's the one trying out. We're just here to make her look taller" Aria defended and I nodded.
"Why do I have to read the whole play? I don't wanna be the bad seed's mother. I want to be the one who's drunk all the time" Hanna said.
This made the four of us laugh at her and shake our heads.
"No comment" Spencer chuckled.
"Still ragging on me for bringing a flask? I don't need another parent, Spence. One's plenty" Hanna sighed.
"Well, has the one figured out that Caleb's in your basement?" Aria asked.
"No, but A has" Hanna sighed.
This made all our eyes widen in shock as we looked at her in worry.
"What are you gonna do?" Emily asked.
"I'm gonna tell my mom before A gets to her. I'm just gonna ask her if Caleb can stay in the guest room" Hanna said.
I nodded at that before smiling when Mona made her way over to us.
"Hey there, Hanna and her clana" Mona smiled.
"Hey, Mona. How'd it go in there?" Hanna asked, smiling.
"Honestly, I nailed it. It was epic. I think Mr. Fitz cried" Mona smiled.
"Good for you, Mona. I guess the rest of us should go home" Spencer sarcastically said, flashing her a sarcastic smile.
"No. There are no small parts, only parts that don't make it into the yearbook. Good luck" Mona smiled at us.
She walked away and when she was gone me and the girls went back to reading the script.
I looked at Aria and saw her looking at something, or someone, and when I saw who she was looking at it I smirked slightly.
Spencer noticed Aria looking at Mr. Fitz and nudged her arm.
"Why don't you audition? You kind of have an in with the director" Spencer asked in a teasing voice.
"Stop" Aria said in warning tone.
"Is he wearing the tie you gave him?" Hanna asked with a teasing smirk.
"Stop" Aria said in the same warning tone.
"It would be so awesome to hang out with you two after school, see you as a couple" I smiled.
Overtime I've been somewhat accepting of Aria's relationship with Mr. Fitz.
Sure, it's still uncomfortable, considering he's our teacher and Aria's a student, but I can tell that they're really happy being together.
And as long as Aria's happy then I'm happy too.
"News flash, just because were on this side of the building doesn't mean that we can suddenly light candles and slow dance" Aria said.
"Well that's the opening night party. 'Hello, Aria' 'Hello, Ezra'" Spencer sighed dreamily, leaning more into Aria.
Me, Hanna and Emily all laughed at that while Aria glared at her.
"Are you finished?" Aria asked, clearly annoyed as she shoved her away.
"It's not like we'll be able to go on a double date with you guys" Emily said.
"Yeah, you won't even send us pictures" Hanna said.
"Pictures? Hanna, we meet at his apartment. It's not SeaWorld" Aria said.
"We're just saying it'd be nice" I shrugged and the girls nodded.
"Believe me, I know. Wish I could" Aria sighed, her eyes wandering over to Mr. Fitz.
I frowned at that, knowing that she so badly wanted their relationship to be out in public and not a secret.
I can tell that it was killing Aria, but she has to understand that they'll get into alot of trouble if they reveal their relationship and make it public.
The last thing I want is for one of my best friends to get in trouble, or worse.
"But I can't. Where's your other scene?" Aria asked.
Before we could get back to the play we heard a cane tapping and we turned around to see Jenna walking in.
She stopped in front of us as me and the girls glanced at each other.
"Is Mr. Fitz in the auditorium?" Jenna asked.
"I'm right here, Jenna. What can I do for you?" Mr. Fitz asked, walking towards her.
"I don't know if you're interested. I'd like to compose some music" Jenna said, a small smile appearing on her face.
"Sure. That'd be great. For the flute?" Mr. Fitz asked.
"Yes" Jenna nodded.
I looked at the girls, who looked just as confused as I was, before turning back around.
"Is there a reason that you picked The Bad Seed? It's one of my favorites. The theme is so inspiring." Jenna said.
"Uh...inspiring?" Mr. Fitz asked, confused.
"I'm fascinated by the nature of evil" Jenna said, a small smirk appearing on her face.
Me and the girls glanced at each other, worried and a bit creeped out by what she said.
The Next Day
It was the next day and I had trouble going back to sleep because I heard loud noises coming from downstairs.
My guess it was Ian packing some of his boxes.
And my guess was right, Ian was downstairs in the living room packing his stuff. Spencer joined me a few seconds later.
"Oh, hey. I didn't wake you guys, did I?" Ian asked.
"Sort of" Spencer shrugged.
Ian nodded and went back to his boxes as me and Spencer walked down the stairs and made our way to the kitchen.
"Are you packing or unpacking?" Spencer asked, confused.
"Little bit of both. You know, I gotta make room. Babies come with a lot of gear" Ian said.
"Tell me about it" I muttered under my breath.
I nodded at Spencer in thanks when she handed me a glass of orange juice and handed me a chocolate muffin.
I took a bite out of the muffin and sighed happily.
"Yeah, it's time I get rid of some of this dead weight" Ian sighed.
"What's in there?" Spencer asked.
"Junk, mostly. You know, yearbooks, baseball gloves, trophies. Stuff my mom probably wants more than me" Ian chuckled lightly.
"That's depressing" I muttered under my breath, trying to hold in a laugh.
"Listen, can either of you hold this flap down for me?" Ian asked, standing up from the couch.
This made me and Spencer stop what we were doing as we looked at him. I scooted closer to my sister.
Ian noticed our looks and sighed, looking a bit annoyed.
"It's a tape gun, guys. You won't get hurt" Ian said.
"We know that" Spencer nodded.
"Really? Because you flinch every time I come near you" Ian said, looking directly at Spencer.
"We have to go get ready for school" Spencer said.
She grabbed my arm and began dragging me with her until we stopped when Ian began talking again.
"Yeah, Melissa told me what you said to her at the swim meet" Ian said.
He walked closer towards us, Spencer gripped onto my arm and moved closer to my side.
"You think I had something to do with what happened to Alison Dilaurentis?" Ian asked.
My face remained blank, but Spencer was a different story. I can see slight fear in her eyes. I pulled her closer to my side as she gripped onto my arm tighter.
"Well, for the record, I didn't. Though I'm not surprised she ended up that way" Ian scoffed.
"What is that supposed to mean?" I asked, glaring at him.
"Yeah, it means your friend Alison was a psycho stalker who wouldn't take no for an answer. Okay? Someone else had enough of her" Ian said.
"Yeah, or maybe you had enough of her" Spencer shot back.
"Spence" I whispered to her.
I don't want her trying to provoke Ian, who knows what he's capable of and the last thing I want is for him to hurt my sister.
I'll hurt him before he gets the chance to lay a hand on my sister.
"Listen, our relationship could be summed up in two words. 'Get lost'" Ian said, practically yelling.
I gently pushed Spencer behind me and glared angrily at Ian, trying my best to remain calm and not punch him.
"Right, we'II, it's too bad she's not here to defend herself" Spencer said.
"Well trust me, she never played that position. Your friend Alison was always on offense" Ian said.
"Look, just stay out of our way and we'll stay out of yours. Got it. Trust me, I'm not afraid to shove my fist into your face" I warned him.
With that I dragged Spencer away with me so we could head upstairs and get ready for school.
At School
Me and Spencer made it to school and right now we were with Emily, sitting at an empty table nearby.
Spencer told us about the part she got in the play and she was really happy.
"That's awesome. That's the part you really wanted, right?" Emily asked.
"Yeah. It's pretty cool" Spencer smiled.
"Congrats, sis. I'm happy for you" I smiled, ruffling her hair.
Spencer giggled and shook her head at me. We heard a phone ringing and saw that it was Emily's.
But to our confusion and shock it was Paige McCullers calling her. The same Paige that tried to drown Emily.
Emily turned off her phone, ignoring the call before looking back at us.
"If you guys are all involved, maybe I should do props" Emily said.
"Why is Paige McCullers calling?" I asked, getting straight to the point.
"Is she still torturing you?" Spencer asked.
"No, she's, we're cool now" Emily said, shaking her head.
"Really? What brought you closer, her trying to drown you?" I sarcastically asked.
I'm still not sure about Paige because she tried to drown Emily. One of my best friends, all because she was jealous of Emily becoming team captain.
I know that there's probably more to her story, but she didn't need to go after Emily because of it.
Until I hear her full story I'm gonna remain distant towards her.
"She's got a cousin in the military and she's kind of anxious about it" Emily said.
Me and Spencer didn't buy it, but we didn't want to push her and get her mad so we just decided to let it go.
"Did you and Toby figure out that Braille thing yet, what 214 means?" I asked, turning to my sister.
"You haven't given up, have you?" Emily asked.
"Definitely not. We're still working on it. I'm supposed to drop off his French book after school, so" Spencer sighed.
"Can I do it? I haven't seen him since they dropped the charges and I'd kind of like to talk to him again" Emily said.
Spencer nodded and opened her bag to take the book out.
"Yeah" Spencer nodded, handing her the book.
"Maybe now he'll be more willing to hear me when I say I didn't turn him in" Emily sighed.
I nodded and shrugged before turning to my sister. But then I saw her staring at someone, looking confused.
"What are you looking at?" I asked.
Me and Emily turned around, only to see Ian and Jenna were talking together.
"I didn't even know they knew each other" Emily said in shock.
The three of us continued to stare at them, watching them talk even though we couldn't really here what they were saying.
"There's a lot of things that we don't know" I said.
Ian smiled at Jenna before grabbing her hand and gently placing it on a bag he was holding. He smiled one last time at her before walking away.
"What is that?" Spencer asked.
"What did he just give her?" Emily asked.
None of us knew what to say. We just watched as Jenna walked away, the bag still in her hand.
An Hour Later
Spencer and Hanna managed to get their parts in the play. Me and Emily would be helping with props and costumes while Aria was Mr. Fitz's stage manager.
Right now the five of us along with the rest of the students were in the student lounge discussing the play.
We all sat around in a circle. A few students were sitting on chairs, while I was sitting in between Spencer and Mona on the couch, along with Hanna.
Emily was fixing a few things in the room and Aria was sitting next to Mr. Fitz.
"So the play raises an interesting question. Are people born evil or do they learn it? I brought some additional material to give you guys some background on the period" Mr. Fitz smiled.
Everyone nodded as he got up from his chair to get the papers.
I sighed and looked around to see everyone was doing their own thing. Hanna and Mona were talking, Spencer was too caught up in whatever she was reading and Emily was walking around fixing a few things.
I just decided to sketch random stuff in my notebook since I didn't really know what else to do.
Mr. Fitz walked back over with a folder in his hands.
"Do you need help?" Aria asked, standing up from her seat.
"Oh, no, I'm good, thanks" Mr. Fitz said, flashing her a small smile.
Aria nodded and sat back down and returned to writing as Mr. Fitz turned to us.
"So I recommend that you read the novel. And to wet your appetites I copied the first chapter" Mr. Fitz said.
He opened the folder but then all the papers fell out, causing them to drop to the ground.
Aria got up from her seat and helped him with the papers.
"I got it. Thanks" Mr. Fitz said before whispering something to her.
Aria nodded and took a red folder and took out some papers to hand out to everyone.
"Oh, Aria, while you're up, could you do me a favor?" Mona asked.
"Uh, sure, what do you need Mona?" Aria asked.
"Could you hit the vendy and grab me a Power bar and some mints?" Mona asked.
"I think I should just pass these out but everyone can 'hit the vendy' when we go on break, okay?" Aria said, clearly annoyed.
Mona scoffed and shook her head while me, Spencer and Hanna smiled at that and slightly laughed.
"I think you'll see, even with the novel, Rhoda is not the typical 8-year-old. Only the janitor is-" Mr. Fitz started, only to stop when someone entered the room.
We all turned around and much to my annoyance, it was Ian.
"Yes?" Mr. Fitz asked.
"I'm guessing this isn't the varsity booster club. My bad. Sorry" Ian awkwardly said before leaving the room.
He looked at us for a few seconds before leaving the room.
"Let's all take a look at the first scene with Rhoda and the janitor if you'll turn to page 25" Mr. Fitz said.
While everyone had turned to the page, Aria and Emily walked over to where me, Spencer and Hanna were sitting.
"He's so creepy" Hanna whispered.
"I can't believe you ever kissed him" Aria whispered.
"We all wanted to kiss him" Spencer said.
"Never" Hanna scoffed.
"That's gross. I would rather die than kiss someone like him. May I remind you that I hate his guts" I said, trying not to throw up by what my sister said.
"At that frat party, when he was big man on campus? The one that Alison got us into" Spencer said.
"Not me" Hanna shrugged.
"Yes, you" Emily nodded.
Flashback
Nobody's Pov
The six of them were at the frat party Alison had dragged them to. She was currently handing them fake ID's that she made.
"You are so badass" Aria smiled, taking the ID from her.
Ethan sighed but smiled when Alison handed him his fake ID.
"Did you make these?" Emily asked in shock.
"Where'd you get this picture of me? I look like my mother" Hanna asked.
"Buttercup, that is your mother" Ethan chuckled, patting her head.
With that the six of them walked over to the guy by the door. They showed him their ID and when he nodded they walked inside.
Ethan looked around and smiled slightly at the students partying, laughing, dancing, drinking beer and just having a good time.
"So, you guys can thank me later" Alison smirked.
She made a move to leave but was stopped by Aria.
"Wait, so what do we do now?" Aria asked, confused.
"Act your new age" I shrugged.
"See, he gets it" Alison smirked, wrapping her arm around his shoulder.
The girls began looking around before their eyes stopped on something, or rather someone.
"Hey, Spence, Ethan, isn't that your sister's new boyfriend?" Aria asked.
This made Spencer and Ethan turn around only for their eyes to widen when they saw Ian talking to a girl and guy.
"He's kind of cute. And so is his friend" Hanna giggled.
"Easy, he's a little bit old for you" Emily said.
"Not tonight because I'm 26" Hanna smiled, waving the ID in her hands.
"Buttercup, put that away, you don't want to get caught" Ethan softly told her.
Alison nodded as Hanna pouted but put the ID back in her pocket.
"Yeah, and take a math class. You're 21" Spencer said.
The five of them looked back to see Ian flirting with the girl. The girl looked drunk out of her mind.
Ian said something to her before leading her upstairs, placing his hands on her hips.
Ethan rolled his eyes in annoyance, he seriously couldn't understand what the hell Melissa saw in someone like him.
"Looks like Mr. Melissa is giving Ms. Rum and Coke a special tour" Alison sarcastically said.
"Maybe he's taking her to the bathroom" Hanna shrugged.
"Or finding an empty room so she can lie down" Emily said.
"Yeah, on top of her" Ethan scoffed rolling my eyes.
Alison snorted while the girls looked at him, Spencer smacked his arm, making him glare at her.
"What? I'm right aren't I?" Ethan asked, rubbing his arm.
"Yes, you are. And I don't know about you vestal virgins, but I'm here to make some memories. Let's divide and conquer and meet back here at midnight" Alison said with a tight smile.

Ethan's Pov
"You guys should've said something to your sister" Emily said, looking at me and Spencer.
"Like what? 'I crashed your boyfriend's frat party?'. We would've been so dead" Spencer said and I nodded.
"Like your sister isn't now?" Aria asked, raising an eyebrow at us.
"Yeah, knocked up with his bad seed" Hanna sighed, shaking her head.
"Hanna? Why do you think that the janitor in the play is the only one who knows the little girl's not a liar?" Mr. Fitz asked.
Emily and Aria walked back over to their seats as Hanna began looking at her book to answer his question.
I chuckled lightly at Hanna's struggle and decided to just answer for her.
"That's because the janitor is childlike himself" I said.
Hanna sighed and shot me a grateful look, making me smile at her and ruffle her hair.
"It's like when we were reading Shakespeare and Ezra talked about the fools and how they can get away with saying things that other people can't" Aria explained.
My eyes widened and I looked at the girls and saw that they were the same as me.
Aria just called Mr. Fitz by his first name.
In front of everyone else.
"Let's just focus on this play, okay?" Mr. Fitz asked, clearing his throat.
Aria looked embarrassed and I could only send her a small smile for some comfort.
The Next Day
It was the next day and I was eating breakfast in the kitchen with Spencer and Toby.
She invited Toby over because yesterday she asked him to get Jenna's phone. So here he was, handing Jenna's phone to Spencer.
"How soon can I get it back?" Toby asked, looking nervous.
"Shouldn't take him long" Spencer softly said, putting the phone in her bag.
"Have you eaten? Do you want something? A muffin?" I asked.
"Yeah, sure" Toby nodded, flashing me a small smile.
I smiled and nodded and went to the fridge to get out some orange juice and blueberry muffin.
"She goes ballistic when I touch her stuff" Toby said.
"Yeah, I get it. My sister once threatened to break my thumbs for using her hairbrush" Spencer scoffed.
I laughed at that and shook my head.
I placed the muffin on an empty plate and began to pour some orange juice in an empty cup.
Spencer sighed and looked at Toby and walked closer towards him.
"Toby, can I ask you something?" Spencer asked.
Toby nodded and Spencer took a deep breath before opening her mouth.
"Why was Alison so sure it was you spying on us the night of Jenna's accident?" Spencer asked.
Toby frowned at that, obviously upset at that memory, and looked away.
I sighed and walked towards him, holding the plate with the muffin on my hand and the cup of juice in my other.
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have-" Spencer started but Toby cut her off.
"I never spied on anyone. I never looked in anyone's window. Your friend Alison made that up" Toby said, his tone filled with anger.
"Why? Why you?" I asked, setting the things down in front of him.
"Because she thought she had something on me. She didn't understand what was really going on and she used it against me anyway" Toby explained.
My eyes widened slightly at that while Spencer continued to look confused.
"Well, it seems like she had something on all of us. All of us except Ethan" Spencer said, glancing at me.
I sighed at that and shook my head.
Alison never had anything on me because I never had anything to hide. I had no secrets, nothing, she couldn't use anything on me.
Can't say the same for the girls and everyone else in Rosewood.
"Maybe, but you don't have to live in a town where everyone believes you killed her" Toby said, looking at her.
"Not everyone" Spencer softly said.
"You did. You and your friends. The only one that believed I didn't kill her was Ethan" Toby said.
I smiled softly at him and placed my hand on his shoulder, squeezing it to give him some comfort.
"Yeah. I guess I did. But I'm not proud of that" Spencer softly said, guilt in her eyes.
"This whole Alison thing has never made any sense to me. It still doesn't" Toby softly said, confusion washing over his eyes.
I frowned at the state he was in, he was so close to crying that it made my heart break into a million pieces.
Spencer frowned and moved closer to him, taking his hand into hers to comfort him.
Toby looked at her, he didn't say anything, but I can tell that he was grateful. Not only does he have me, but he has Spencer too.
At School
It was the next day and me, the girls and all the other students were back in the same room as yesterday to rehearse for the play.
Me and the girls were together, talking, while Aria was sitting on the table and going over a few things.
Mr. Fitz and a few other students were setting up for rehearsal.
"Where does my character sit?" Mona asked.
"I haven't blocked it yet, Mona. We'll get to that on Saturday" Mr. Fitz said.
Mona just shrugged and took out of her phone to look at something while Mr. Fitz turned to the rest of us.
"For those of you arriving, the stage has been taped off to mark the living room and the prop table is being stocked as I speak" Mr. Fitz said.
"Wait, this Saturday? I can't be here this Saturday" Mona said.
Mr. Fitz looked at her before looking at Aria, who just shrugged.
"I only sent the e-mail to those who were called for that rehearsal" Aria said.
"Well, am I called in or not?" Mona asked.
"We'll be blocking that scene on Saturday. I thought I mentioned that" Mr. Fitz said, giving Aria a stern look.
"You didn't" Aria said.
"Mr. Fitz, can we find a way to work out the kinks in the system?" Mona asked, giving Aria a look.
Aria looked annoyed but didn't say anything other than clutching her books, trying not to release any anger.
Me and the girls looked at each other, not sure what to do other than just watch.
"I assure you, Mona, from this point on, Aria will be on top of things" Mr. Fitz sternly said.
Aria flashed him a fake smile and hopped off the table and walked towards him.
"I just need some clarification from our director on the scheduling. Can we take five, everyone. Thanks" Aria smiled, a tight one.
Me and the girls glanced at each other before we quickly left the room, the other students following behind us.
"Cute couple, aren't they?" Hanna sarcastically asked.
"We should study our lines" Spencer sighed.
"Yeah, I still don't get my second scene" Hanna said.
"Your character is suspicious" Spencer said.
"It doesn't say that in the script" Hanna said, giving her an annoyed look.
"That's because it's underneath the words. That's the reason why she's drinking" I said and Spencer nodded.
Hanna and Spencer began to argue about the scene in the play while me and Emily were looking at something, or rather someone.
We were looking at Ian, who was talking to a few students.
I can tell that me and Emily were thinking of the same thing based on the look on our faces.
"I was talking about this scene. She could think it was an accident" Hanna shrugged, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Maybe there are no accidents" I said.
This made Emily nod while Spencer and Hanna looked at me.
"What do you mean?" Spencer asked, confused.
"We never questioned what happened at that party" Emily said.
This brought back memories of the frat party Alison took us and I remembered the accident that happened too.
Flashback
Nobody's Pov
Ethan was currently with Aria and Spencer, who were talking about something.
Ethan was bored, the party was fun he had to admit, but he was getting bored and tired too. He just wanted to leave but he couldn't go back home without Spencer.
He jumped when he heard a loud scream coming from nearby.
He quickly ran with Aria and Spencer to see what was going on.
When they arrived at the scene, Ethan's eyes widened when he saw the girl that Ian was with on the ground, unconscious.
People began to surround the unconscious girl. People were yelling about getting help, calling 911 and to not touch the girl.
Ethan looked up, only for his eyebrows to furrow when he saw Ian at the top of the stairs.
He turned around to see Hanna and Emily a few feet away from them.
"We should go, now" I sternly said.
The girls nodded, the looks on their faces said that they wanted to leave, we all wanted to leave. We couldn't be here anymore.

Ethan's Pov
"Why didn't either of you tell us about Ian at the top of the stairs before?" Spencer asked.
"We didn't think about it till now" Emily said and I nodded.
"Yeah, what if that girl didn't fall just because she was wasted?" I asked, crossing my arms.
We all looked at each other, unsure of what to say. We heard footsteps and turned around to see Aria walking towards us.
"We're starting" Aria said.
We all nodded, our faces blank and filled with worry, Aria noticed and looked at us in confusion.
"What's going on?" Aria asked.
"The night that we crashed that frat party" Hanna slowly said.
"Yeah, what about it?" Aria asked, confused.
"We're thinking Alison wasn't the first person Ian shoved" Spencer said.
This made her eyes widened as the five of us turned around to look at Ian, who was currently playing with a ball, throwing it up in the air a few times.
I sighed and shook my head and lead the others back to the room, wanting to get this off my mind.
An Hour Later
An hour has passed and the ones that are in the play are still rehearsing.
They were all in costume while the ones who weren't participating in the play were doing their own things.
"So, what do you think? Are people born bad?" Mr. Fitz asked, looking at Mona.
"I'm having a hard time figuring out who's evil and who's just naughty" Mona said.
This made me snort while Emily rolled her eyes, smiling slightly.
"I'd think you'd know the difference, Mona, but let's ask some of your cast mates" Mr. Fitz said.
His eyes wandered over the room before stopping at my sister, who was in a trance.
"Spencer" Mr. Fitz said.
Spencer snapped out of whatever trance she was in and looked up at him.
"Thoughts?" Mr. Fitz asked.
"Yes. Some people are pure evil" Spencer said with a straight face.
I sighed at that. I had to admit that there were a few people out there that are really evil and that there's no way to save them.
But I also believe that there are some people that aren't as evil as you'd expect them to be. The only reason they're evil in the first place is because of something that has happened to them.
"I think my character's being totally selfish. I don't even know how to play that" Mona said.
I sighed at that and smiled when Spencer walked towards us.
"Miss Fern is protecting the future of her school, Mona" Mr. Fitz said.
"So is she forgivable or not?" Mona asked, confused.
"It's unforgivable if she's only thinking of herself" Aria said, glancing at Mr. Fitz, giving him an accusing look.
I shook my head at them, wondering what the hell happened that's got them so mad at each other.
"Let's stop here. These are good thoughts. We'll pick up where we left off. Study your lines. Put away your props. I'll see you then" Mr. Fitz said.
With that he gathered all his things and left. The students all began to put the props away and began leaving.
Me and the girls helped to put some of the props away while gathering the rest of our stuff.
Thank lords we can finally go home because I'm tired as hell.
I was putting my books in my bag when I heard Spencer calling out to me and the girls.
"Guys!" Spencer whisper yelled to us, waving us over to her.
We glanced at each other before looking at her and walking towards her, confused and curious.
When we made our way to her we saw her holding a trophy in her hands.
"What are we looking at?" Hanna asked.
Spencer gestured towards the trophy and when we took a closer look at it, our eyes widened when we saw blood on the bottom of the trophy.
"Why would that be in here?" Aria asked, confused and worried.
"What's that?" Emily asked.
"Is that" Hanna said, looking at us with worried eyes.
"Blood" I finished, not taking my eyes off the trophy.
"Em, where did you get this?" Spencer asked.
"I didn't. I've never seen it before" Emily said.
Spencer quickly put the trophy back where it was, her eyes filled with nothing but fear.
The girls were all scared and worried, I don't blame them, but I wasn't scared. I was trying to calm myself down and not break down.
"Oh god no" Hanna sighed.
"Do you think that's what Ian used to-" Emily started but Spencer cut her off.
"To kill Alison, don't you?" Spencer asked.
"Guys, slow down. We don't know that that's Alison's blood. We don't even know if that is blood" I said, being the reasonable one.
"Yeah, but we don't know that it's not" Hanna said.
Aria shook her head and closed the box and walked away, me following behind her.
"That's insane. Why would he hide that in here for everyone to see?" Aria asked.
"Because it's a bold move and no one would ever look for it here. Why did the bad seed hide the medal in the box on top of her desk? Why didn't she just bury it?" Spencer asked.
"Because she was freaking 8 and not to mention she's just a fictional character. Guys, we all saw that video, Ian didn't have a trophy in his hands" I sternly said.
Spencer opened the box again to look at the trophy while me and the girls sat down.
"We didn't see what was on the ground" Emily said.
"It could've been in his luggage" Hanna said.
"This was when they were together at Hilton Head" Spencer said, looking up at us.
"Wow" Aria breathed out.
We all remained quiet, not knowing what to say. I'm still not convinced that Ian killed Alison and he wouldn't use a trophy.
I may hate Ian but I know he's not capable of murder and he's not that dumb.
"What are we gonna do?" Hanna asked.
"Nothing. We're gonna do nothing other than leave that damn thing here and go home" I sternly said.
"No, we hand it in. We're not wasting time, losing evidence again" Emily said.
"Emily's right. This goes to the police now" Spencer said, picking the box up.
"No, no, no. Spencer, put that damn thing down right now because we're not going to do anything. We're not handing that in to the police" I sternly said.
"Why not?" Spencer and Emily asked.
"Guys, for all we know that blood could be from someone or something else. We can't just jump to conclusions and assume that that's what Ian used to kill Alison. Ian may be dumb but he's not dumb enough to leave something like that in here" I explained.
"Ethan, we've all decided and we're taking it to the police" Emily said.
The girls nodded and all stood up with their bags in their hands, ready to leave.
"Guys, stop being naive. For all we know A could've planted that for us to find. He, she or it is trying to mess with us to get us in trouble" I sternly said.
I seriously wanted them to rethink this because going to the police is a bad idea.
We would end up getting in trouble instead of Ian if we handed in something useless. Considering I still doubt that's Alison's blood when Ian clearly didn't have a damn trophy in his hands.
"Why are you defending Ian? Don't you want justice for Alison?" Spencer asked.
"Of course I want justice for Alison, but we need to think this through. For all we know A planted that knowing we would find it. And no way in hell am I defending someone like Ian. I may hate him but I doubt he's capable of murder let alone leaving something like that in here" I explained, nodding towards the trophy.
The girls glanced at each other before sighing and looking back at me.
"I'm sorry, Ethan. But we're taking it to the police and final" Aria softly but sternly said.
"Fine, do what you want. But I'm going home" I sternly said, grabbing my bag from the ground.
"What?!" the girls yelled.
"You're seriously going to abandon us with something like this?" Spencer asked, angry and hurt.
"I'm not abandoning you guys, I just don't want to get in trouble for handing something useless to the police. For all we know that blood could be fake or it could be from something or someone else. You guys can be naive and do whatever you want. I'm going to be smart and step away from this and head home. I give you my best wishes" I explained.
And with that I quickly left the room, wanting nothing more than to just go home and get into bed.
The Next Day
It was the next day and me and the girls sat around the table. Just like I predicted they handed the trophy to the police after I left yesterday.
I just hope they know that this is going to backfire on them.
"Did you guys sleep at all?" Hanna asked, breaking the silence.
"No, I just tossed and turned" Emily sighed.
"She tossed, I turned" Spencer sighed.
"I cannot wait for him to be carded out of here. Just knowing that he's in this building right now-" Hanna started but Emily cut her off.
"Did he think he could get away with it? Her blood in that trophy case. It makes me sick" Emily said.
I sighed and shook my heads. Seriously, this is going to backfire on them so badly.
My eyes then wandered over to the door that leads to the inside of the school and saw a few officers and a detective entering.
"Guys" Aria said, looking up.
The girls all turned around and when they saw them their eyes widened in shock.
"Oh my god. They're gonna drag him out in front of the whole school?" Spencer asked, looking at us.
"I doubt it" I muttered under my breath.
And I was right, because the detective looked over in our direction and began walking towards us, making the girls confused.
"Why is he coming over here?" Hanna asked, nervous.
"Ladies, and gentleman" the detective said, looking at me and flashing me a small smile while nodding.
I gave him a small smile back and nodded as he turned to my sister and best friends.
"Which one of you found the trophy?" the detective asked.
I looked at the girls, who were looking at each other, unsure of what to say.
And by now all the students were looking in our direction.
"Who's, uh, Spencer Hastings?" the detective asked.
Slowly and nervously, Spencer raised her hand, making him look at her.
"So, was this a group effort, or are you three just along for the ride?" the detective asked, only looking at the girls and not me.
"What do you mean?" Hanna asked.
"It means you should've done a little research. There's no golf tournament on Hilton Head on that date" the detective said.
"What about the blood?" Emily asked, confused.
"It's not human blood. It comes from a rat" the detective said.
The girls all looked shocked at that while I closed my eyes, clenched my fists at my sides and shook my head.
I knew it. I knew that the blood on the trophy wasn't Alison's. I knew that it was just too easy to leave a 'murder weapon' out in the open.
"No, but why would there-" Hanna started but the detective cut her off.
"Let's save our questions for the precinct. You four, follow me" the detective said, only looking at the girls and not me.
The girls all looked at me while I rubbed the back of my neck awkwardly.
I watched all of them grab their things and stand up from where they were sitting, while I remained where I was.
"Have a good day, young man" the detective said, nodding at me.
I just nodded back at them and watched as him and my best friends left, leaving me alone at the table.
I could feel everyone's eyes staring at me, obviously wanting to know what happened, but I kept my head down.
I heard a ring and quickly took out my phone, thinking that it was Spencer or the other girls.
Unfortunately it wasn't, it was A.
Of course you didn't get in trouble, I always knew you were smarter than Spencer. But beware, my favorite Hasting, things are gonna get alot harder.
- A
I groaned in annoyance and it took everything in me not to throw my phone.
A strikes again, great, just great.

Before I end this chapter I want to get one thing out of the way.
Many people have been commenting on this and I just want to give you all an answer for it.
Ethan will have a love interest. If you read the tags you'll know that this is an OcxOc story.
Meaning that Ethan will have a love interest but they're not going to come until later on. If you're wondering if it's a boy or girl, you'll just have to wait and see.
I hope that answer your question and see you next chapter, bye!
