The next morning rose by as Cassie was sitting on her bed, wrapped around her blanket and playing her video games in sadness

Cassie: I think we should go our separate ways...

Cassie: I... never mind... forget what I said...

Rachel: Cassie! Wait-

Cassie: Don't worry about it...

She walks down the hall and enters her room leaving Rachel alone in the living watching her leave with the feeling of emptiness

Rachel: Cassie...

Cassie: Why did it come to this...

Suddenly she hears her door creaking which she looks to see Chum pushing his way in and looks at Cassie

Cassie: Hey Chummy...

Chum crawls his way to Cassie where he hops onto the bed and lays beside her. She lets out a small smile and pets him as she continues to play the game

Cassie: I... don't know what to do...

Chum: ?

Cassie: I know he said I have to do it but... does he get how hard it is to just say that to a friend that was a like sister to you since childhood!

Soon she gets a game over on her game which she sighs and shuts off the game and lays back

Cassie: Of course, he doesn't, how can that help me if I just leave hey when she's the reason why I decided to do this... but why did I have to say that to Rachel that soon...

Suddenly she gets a buzz on her phone which she pulls out to see who texted her but Chum peaks over to see what's on the phone, blocking Cassie's view. She pushes Chum away a little, and Chum pretends that Cassie punched him and flops over

Cassie: I didn't push you that hard...

She looks at her phone to see it was Tadayoshi who texted her so Cassie takes a deep breath and tries to pull out her positivity side out

T: hey do you need me?

French Fry Queen: Wow you texted me? That's something!

T: Yeah Yeah but answer the question

French Fry Queen: Uhhh Idk but come over in case I plan to

T: Fine...

French Fry Queen: Alright, I'll see you soon!

T: Mhm... Before I go I have a question

French Fry Queen: Answer away!

T: How did that "meeting" go?

Once Cassie saw the message, she begins to feel emotion drop down and starts to remember what Tooth did to her yesterday which she struggles to answer him for a few minutes

French Fry Queen: ... It went alright, just a small discussion and such!

T: ...

French Fry Queen: What?

T: Nothing... I'll see you soon

French Fry Queen: Oh ok... Bye!

She exits out of the text but before she could put her phone away another text appears the second she sees who it is, she grows nervous again. She struggles to answer him and wanted to not answer him but she gives in

Boss: Did you do it?

C: No... not yet

Boss: You better get it done by today or your friend will be on a death bed! Got it!

C: Yes sir...

Boss: Good... see you tomorrow, we got a busy schedule

She finally put her phone away and lets out a sigh but before she sits up and does anything, she starts to hear Rachel calling her name

Rachel: Cassie! Breakfast is ready!

She gets up from her bed and walks out slowly with Chum following her to where she sees Rachel putting down a large plate of pancakes at the seat where she usually sits

Rachel: I made some of your favorite pancakes

Cassie: ...

Cassie sits down and munches on a pancake slowly as Rachel watches her in worry, still thinking about what Cassie said to her yesterday

Rachel: So... how did you sleep?

Cassie: Fine...

Rachel: ... You got any plans today?...

Cassie: ...

Rachel: ... Ok I'm sorry but I have to ask but what did you mean we have to go our separate way yesterday?

Cassie: I told you not to worry about it... I don't... wanna get into it...

Rachel: How can I not! It's just... it isn't like you to say that... Did... did I do something wrong?

Cassie: ... No... just let's move on to a different subject

Rachel: ... I can't...

Cassie: ...

Rachel: I can't move on to something! You keep denying your fine when you're clearly not!

Cassie: "Rachel please..."

Rachel: I was hoping we could spend more time together when you get back but we couldn't cause you kept moving away from me! This isn't you anymore!

Cassie: "Stop Rachel... I... can't you get involved..."

Rachel: What happened to old you when you were always so happy! Bringing a positive mood wherever you go! You were always a joy to be around when you were always around!

Cassie: "Please... shut up..."

Rachel: You uses to be like my opposite! You helped show me what the outside world was like! Why are you trying to push me away! Whatever it is, I can apologize or help you through it!

The room goes quiet as Cassie realizes what she said as she looks up at Rachel who is looking at her in shock but also in sadness which Cassie begins tearing up, but holds it in while turning away

Cassie: E-Every time I-I laughed and smiled around you... i-it was just a stupid act t-to make you feel like you w-were worth something to me

Rachel: ...I...

Cassie: ... I regret calling you my sister... it was foolish of me...

She quickly gets up from her seat and runs out the door which Rachel tries to stop her but stops herself.

Rachel: Cassie!

As Cassie exits the apartment and runs down the hall, she passes by Tadayoshi who was able to get a glance at her face

Tadayoshi: "Now what..."

He walks into the apartment room to see Rachel still at her seat with her hands covering her face while Chum tries to reassure her but notices Tadayoshi at the doorway

Rachel: Oh hey Tadayoshi...

Tadayoshi: What happened...

Rachel: I... don't know... she broke down and got angry... after I asked about the thing she said last night

Tadayoshi: And that was?

Rachel: she said I think we should go out separate ways...

Tadayoshi: ... Where is she?

Cassie was at the Primary Parts where she was sitting on a bench that was near a tree in a walkway area, curled up into a ball

Cassie: "Why did I say that... I didn't mean it..."

She looks up and sees Tadayoshi standing in front of her which she tries to look away from him and sits normally

Cassie: Oh hey... how did you find me

Tadayoshi: Rachel told me you be somewhere here cause this some reason is your favorite place...

Cassie: Oh...

Tadayoshi: ...

He sits beside her as Cassie goes back to curling herself into a ball

Tadayoshi: So... wanna tell me the truth now

Cassie: What truth?

Tadayoshi: you've been hiding something from me and Rachel

Cassie: How'd you know?...

Tadayoshi: I'm not stupid, you acted weird when you said you going to this "meeting" and your text... you were awfully quiet when I asked about the meeting

Cassie: I guess I didn't hide it well... but also I knew Rachel sent you to keep watch of me...

Tadayoshi: How did you figure that out?

Cassie: You don't seem like the kind of guy that be on my ass of what I'm doing every day...

Tadayoshi: True... but even so I've told you before if something happens let me know

Cassie: I know... I know...

Tadayoshi: So why didn't you?

Cassie: I... I couldn't...

Tadayoshi: Why?

Cassie: ...

Tadayoshi: I'm going too fast for you aren't I

Cassie: ... *nods*

Tadayoshi: *sigh*

Suddenly Tadayoshi notices something on the side of her face which he leans close to her

Cassie: W-What?

Tadayoshi: Turn your head...

She hesitates at first but she turns her head as Tadayoshi wipes her face which ends up removing some makeup and revealing the bruises on her face

Tadayoshi: ...

Cassie: It... was my fault...

Tadayoshi: ... Who did this...

Cassie: ...

Tadayoshi: Look if you are afraid of something it's fine but I can't help you if you keep quiet... I can handle it even if you don't believe it... I may not trust you fully but at least put some trust in me that even I can't do...

Cassie: ... Ok... my boss Tooth... he did this...

Tadayoshi: I knew it...

Cassie: H-He told me... to break off with her... and I... *sniff* didn't want to that... so he slapped me... and threaten me for defying him... I-I couldn't tell anyone help or quit... cause he would hurt Rachel... a-and I didn't want to see her in my shoes... so I said... those awful things to her... as *sniff* a lie... I'm sorry... I'm sorry... I'm sorry I was pathetic to do that

Tears begin to crawl down her face as she let out her cry. Tadyoshi slowly reaches his arm over her back to comfort her but he hesitates, pulling his arm back, and looks down at the ground, disappointed in himself. He looks around and notices an ice cream stand which he gets up and walks towards it. After a few minutes, he walks back to Cassie who looks up and wipes her tears off her face to see him with a vanilla ice cream cone

Tadayoshi: Here... this may cheer you up a bit...

Cassie: Thank you...

Tadayoshi: Mhm

She takes the ice cream as Tadayoshi sits back down while she starts to eat her ice cream

Tadayoshi: *sigh* I wished you told me about this sooner

Cassie: I know... but it's my fault for not saying anything about him...

Tadayoshi: ... How did you get stuck with him

Cassie: I... went to him for help

Tadayoshi: Help? For what?

Cassie: I... felt way behind from Rachel and... I thought being a Royalty, I'd feel equal to her...

Tadayoshi: Really? A Royalty? You wanted to be one of those scumbags?

Out in the wood, a small young girl climbs up a tree until she reaches the top and stands up on a large branch to look at the view

Cassie: Oh there's the river stream!

She climbs off the trees and starts skipping her way to where the stream is. This is Cassie, who is 6 years old and is living in a house that is in the wood, outside the small town called Chroma Country. She arrives at the river where she hops over some rocks that were sticking out of the water

Cassie: Now then where are those froggy's

Cassie looks up at the voice to see a blue hair girl, sitting under a tree, having a picnic by herself while reading a book

Cassie: Oh hi! I'm Cassie! Who are you?

Rachel: Why are you asking for my name?...

Cassie: Causes it nice to introduce each other

Rachel: *sigh* Rachel...

Cassie: Nice to meet you! What are you doing here alone?

Rachel: Having my own time but you should mind your own business

Cassie: I know buts it's rude to you know not to say hi to the people you go by

Rachel: I guess, so what brings you here?

Cassie: I came to catch some froggies

Rachel: What's so great about "catch" frogs

Cassie: I don't know, it's fun for fun, and also they look cute! Hey, there's a froggy!

She skips over a few rocks, to try and catch a frog but as she is, Rachel observes her clothing and sees how old and raggy they are. Cassie manages to catch the frog and skips over to Rachel

Cassie: See, look how derpy they are

Frog: ... *Ribbit*

Rachel: Uh-huh... why are you wearing something like that?

Cassie: What do you mean?

Rachel: It looks... old and dirty! Have you liked trie to wash it or at least wear something different?

Cassie: I wish I could but my family is... pretty much poor so this is the only thing I got

Rachel: Oh... I shouldn't be talking to you then

Cassie: *sets down frog* Why not?

Rachel: My mother told me to not talk to people who look poor because they are people who failed their future and now trying to rely on people to help them even though it's their fault they didn't do anything before they got to where they are

Cassie: Oh... Well not all of them are like that you know? My parents may be poor but I appreciate what I have! Besides my daddy told me that people who look down on poor people are nothing but sore losers cause they think nothing but themselves which is some of them are ugly

Rachel: *giggle* Sounds like some rich people I know

Cassie: Can say the same thing with the poor people you said too!

Rachel: So... since you say you are poor, do you ever... get enough food?

Cassie: For like 1 meal per day, my dad is very hard working but the money he earns isn't enough for all of us

Rachel: Oh... would like some of my sandwiches? You can take some home for your parents as well

Cassie: Wait really?! Are you sure?

Rachel: I'm not gonna eat it all anyways

Cassie: Oh what should I-

Rachel: You don't need to pay me back or anything

Cassie: But-

Rachel: Don't worry about it, I'm rich so I'm not gonna die from some small little thing

Cassie: Oh thank you!

Cassie hops over to Rachel where she sits down beside her and munches on the sandwich that Rachel gave which Cassie tears up after tasting how good the sandwich was and Rachel lets out a small smile.

Rachel: I'm curious... What do you do... as a poor person

Cassie: *sigh* Work lots of work... since we barely have money we have to get stuff like water from the river and we cant use stuff like electricity. My dad mostly goes to work and comes home late a lot, my mom just tries to be there for me if I ever feel down and for me... I try to do my best to find something that helps my family... usually I like to go out and find fresh berries in the woods or go to town and find some small cash

Rachel: I see...

Cassie: At least you're lucky that you're not struggling with your life

Rachel: I guess except you're lucky you have parents that care about you... my family is strict about keeping the family titles

Cassie: Oh... I guess we both have our benefits or drawbacks...

Rachel: Yeah...

Cassie: Well *stands up* I got to go! Thank you for the sandwich

Rachel: You don't need to thank me... just enjoy it while you can

Cassie: I will!

Rachel: ...Say, Cassie, are you busy tomorrow?

Cassie: No why?

Rachel: Let's meet here again! I like having you around

Cassie: A-Are you sure? Cause I... don't feel like it's right for a poor person and a rich person to meet again

Rachel: It's fine, I don't care what they say

Cassie: Yeah... guess I'll see you then!

Rachel: Yeah, see you tomorrow!

Soon days goes by as every day, Rachel and Cassie would meet at the same spot at the river where they'll chat and play with each other. Both of them learn about their side of the story and grow a bond. 7 years go by as Rachel and Cassie are at the river again, trying to catch some frogs again

Cassie: Wanna hold a frog this time?

Rachel: I'm good, can't get dirty today

Cassie: Eh? Why not?

Rachel: There's gonna be a summer festival today, and my parents want me to look nice for it

Cassie: A festival?

Rachel: You never been to a festival before?

Cassie: No, daddy said he doesn't want to waste money there or else we'd be homeless

Rachel: I guess that makes sense... why don't I bring you there! I can pay for the stuff!

Cassie: Wait really?

Rachel: Yeah!

Cassie: Awesome! Where should we meet?

Rachel: How about in the middle of the town at 9:00 a.m.

Cassie: I can do that!

Rachel: Great, there's a spot I wanna bring you and something I wanna talk to you about

Cassie: Alright! I'll see you soon

Rachel: See ya!

They both wave goodbye to each other and Cassie makes her way back home. Soon nightfall as Cassie changes into her father's old yakuza and makes her way out the door only to have her parents stopping her

Father: Cassie... where are you going?

Cassie: To the festival why?

Father: I've told you before you can't, we are really strict on money, so you find any fun there with spending on anything!

Cassie: Relax, I'm just going to meet up with my friend Rachel

The parents stare at her in silence while having a shocked expressions on their face

Cassie: What?

Father: Cassie... You need to stay away from her!

Cassie: What?! Why?

Father: Because she's a part of a family of Royalties! If they find out you have been hanging out with you, they'll come after us and you!

Cassie: But dad! She's not a bad person!

Father: That's because she manipulated you! All Royalties does this so they can get slaves easier than buying one!

Mother: Your father is just worried about your safety

Cassie: I can handle myself, mom!

Father: Look, you can be friends with anyone but you can't be friends with her! Royalties and commoners can't be friends!

Cassie: What? You just want me to break off my friendship with her now

Father: Yes! It's for your safety! So you are not going to the festival and you are never going to meet her again!

Cassie: I don't care! I'm going to this festival no matter what!

She turns and walks away, making her way to the town as her father continues to yell at her.

Cassie: Stupid dad... she doesn't understand that Rachel is a great person!... right?...

She makes her into town where she looks around in amazement at the colorful light everywhere and the many tents for mini-games and food

Cassie: So this is what a festival is like... now where is Rachie... I wanna taste some of these foods as soon as possible

She walks around the festival looking for Rachel, passing by some kids and a couple but soon she starts to notice that the farther she goes into the festival, the more the tents and everything around her starts to look fancier

Cassie: Huh... I didn't think a festival would look fancy-

?: Hey is that a commoner?

Cassie turns at the voice to see a Royalty looking at her in disbelief, soon she starts to realize the people around her and now Royalties that are staring at her

Cassie: Huh, hi I'm looking for my friend Rachel... she and I are supposed to hang out tonight and-

Suddenly the Royalties stares at her for a bit until they burst out laughing as Cassie looks in surprise but also in embarrassment

Cassie: I-Its true!

Royalty: Oh please why would anyone be friends with a poor person like you? It disgusts me thinking about it

Royalty 2: Tell me about it, let's make this clear to you commoner, A Royalty, and a commoner can never be friends... it's impossible... Royalties are far out of your league!

Royalty: Besides the daughter must be a good manipulator to trick this commoner

The royalties turn at the voice to see Rachel in her kimono and holding her umbrella and some octopus dumplings which all of the Royalties back away from Cassie

Rachel: There you are! I've been looking for you! Are you alright

Cassie: Y-Yeah...

Rachel: Good, come on now! Let's go to that place I wanted you to go

Cassie: O-Ok

Both Rachel and Cassie walk off as the Royalties stare at them in disbelief

Royalty: Guess I was wrong, she does own her

Both Cassie and Rachel begin to walk out of the Royalty part of the festival as they were quiet

Rachel: They didn't hurt you... did they?

Cassie: No... they did not

Rachel: Ok...

Cassie: ... Say Rachie?

Rachel: Yeah Cassie?

Cassie: Are you... a Royalty?

Rachel: ...

Cassie: Is that why you always had the money and how you know about most Royalty

Soon they stop walking and sat down on a stairway of a shrine where they start munching on the dumplings

Rachel: Yeah?

Cassie: Am I a friend to you?

Rachel: Cassie... of course you are... you've shown me everything that was great about you and what's it like not being a Royalty... it's helped me open my eyes more and... you were my first friend...

Cassie: Wait really?

Rachel: Yeah! As a Royalty finding, a friend is a lot more difficult than you think

Suddenly fireworks shoot up in the air as Cassie and Rachel turn at it in surprise at the view

Rachel: We'll move to the most famous city in the world... Coltopia! I heard that place is filled with wonderful people! It's a place where we can fit well together! What do you think?

Cassie: I... think that's perfect... Rachie...

Cassie: And here we are to this day...

Tadayoshi: ...

Cassie: Once we moved here, she was mostly doing everything... she even help my parent by sending them her money... I felt... useless and was out of her league... now I'm starting to believe maybe those people back then were right... and I fucked up today... I fucked myself up... I fucked up my friendship...

Tadayoshi: Whatever if you're hungry let me know and I'll order something cause I'm not in the mood to cook

Cassie: ...

Tadayoshi: You're hungry already aren't you?...

Cassie: Noooooooooo...

Tadayoshi: *sigh* Didn't you just eat your ice cream

Cassie: Yeah but it was like a small one

Tadayoshi: ... *sigh* what do you want

Cassie: Pizza! Meat lover pizza!

Tadayoshi: Alright...

Cassie: But you know... I know another extra "sauce" you can use for the pizza

Tadayoshi:...

Cassie: Hot sauce! You know how delicious they are on a pizza!

Tadayoshi: ... Really?

Cassie: What?

Tadayoshi: Nothing...

Cassie: Why did you think something dirty again?~

Tadayoshi: Nope...

Cassie: Well while you are ordering pizza wanna watch a movie or something?

Tadayoshi: I don't care...

She hops over on the couch as Tadayoshi goes to order the pizza. She flicks through the tv until she finds a movie that catches her attention

Tadayoshi: The pizza will be here in a few minutes

Cassie: That was fast

Tadayoshi: It does not take long to order a fucking pizza

Cassie: True, now come and sit

Tadayoshi: I know... What's this?

Cassie: Some robot movie... it's shit but I can't help but find it enjoyable

Tadayoshi: Uh-huh

A few minutes go by they continue to watch the movie and remain awkwardly quiet until the sun begins to set. Soon the pizza arrives which they take and starts to watch a couple of other movies until nightfall and they're finishing up their final movie.

Tadayoshi: This is why I hate sequels... none of these make sense

Cassie: Still the shitty CGI makes this funny

Tadayoshi: Eh...

Cassie: ... Say Tadayoshi

Tadayoshi: What?

Cassie: ... Why do you help me?

Tadayoshi: Causes it's my job

Cassie: I know that but... you sounded very concerned when I told you about Tooth... and it really doesn't seem like you would care other than "Hey I want a raise please"

Tadayoshi: You're right about that...

Cassie: Oh...

Tadayoshi: But... that story reminded me of what happened to Alex...

Cassie: Alex? Do you mean the rainbow hair girl at the Colosseum

Tadayoshi: Mhm

Cassie: So you do know her

Tadayoshi: Yeah, she's just an old friend of mine

Cassie: Very unexpected of you to be friends with her but how does she remind you of me

Tadayoshi: She had a brother once, was very abusive to the point I had to beat some senses into him since her damn parent wouldn't do shit...

Cassie: So where's he now?

Tadayoshi: He's dead, a building collapsed on top of him when he was at his "job"

Cassie: Oh... wow

Tadayoshi: ... So what are you going to do tomorrow

Cassie: ... I have to go back in tomorrow and tell boss my news... but I gonna tell him to fuck off and I will quit!... Can you come with me though... I don't want to get hurt again...

Tadayoshi: No shit I am... I'll give you the space you need to say it but call me when something happens...

Cassie: I will... and I will go back home and apologize... I do hope that Rachel will forgive me

Tadayoshi: She will... trust me

Cassie: Yeah... I will

They sat quietly for a few minutes until Tadayoshi felt Cassie's head leaning against his shoulder

Tadayoshi: I swear if you-

Cassie: No no I just... wanna feel comfortable... that's all... I don't feel like joking or flirting right now...

Tadayoshi: ... Fine...

Cassie: ... Thank you... for this

Tadayoshi: Don't thank me... I'm just doing my job... just rest... we have much to do tomorrow...
