Chapter Four

"We need to act now! She can't handle this much more, we need to figure out where they are attacking and warn the Alphas around us!" I think it was my dad that was yelling.

I felt oddly calm but I couldn't move, see or feel anything. I felt like I was trapped inside of a bubble that was trying to protect me from everyone. I didn't feel scared, just confused.

"The Alphas have been warned." I think that was Beta Brent. "There has been a confirmed attack in Ridge's pack but we haven't heard any specifics yet."

I tried to open my eyes but it was as if they were permanently sealed shut with cement.

"Shh." I heard and felt sparks ignite through my entire left arm, from the tips of my fingertips all the way to my shoulder. Suddenly a blinding white light filled my vision as I jumped up feeling like all the air was crushed out of my lungs. I gasped for air looking around to see Lydia with a look of despair on her face, as her hand was raised at me. I screamed out in pain as images from the visions passed through my mind. The giant wolf with the X over its shoulder growled viciously at me stalking towards me. It launched itself at me but luckily I was able to dodge its obvious attack.

I felt a slice into my side causing blood to pour through my shirt. When did I get into a shirt? But that was the least bit of my worry right now.

I jumped up kicking it's side sending it across the ground. It growled viciously sprinting towards me. I went to dodge but I felt another vision infiltrate my mind.

"I got it!" Lydia Yelled.

I felt myself drop to the ground out of breath. I immediately raised my shirt to see if there was a cut, but my skin was completely healed. What? There is nothing there. I looked around the room frantically to see everyone staring at me.

I was about to stand up when Lydia crashed into me pulling me tight against her in a bone crushing hug.

"I'm so sorry, I didn't want to do that. But I couldn't let Mom do it to you." She cried.

"What happened?" I whispered.

"Y..you uh kept having visions and Alpha Ryland got all of us. You weren't responding so we needed to get the vision out of you to prevent this wolf from.. from doing goddess knows what." Lydia cried. I frowned but nodded in understanding. When I looked up I saw everyone was watching me with concerned filled eyes.

"I'm going to go outside for a little bit." I said quietly, slowly standing up.

"You're not going anywhere." Growled Ryland.

"What do you mean, I can leave whenever I feel like it." I spat not in the mood for this right now.

He growled trying to grab my arm.

"No." I snapped at him pushing myself away from everyone.

"What's going on with Octavia, Mom?" I heard James whisper. I raised my hands to my head gripping my hair tightly.

"Octavia why don't you go outside sweety." Mom told me with a sad look on her face. Why do they all feel bad for me? I don't want them to feel bad for me!

I rushed passed them all and out the door slamming it shut behind me. I screamed out in frustration when I realized I didn't have my bow and arrows. I ran around the side of the house and climbed up the vines decorating the side of our house. I slipped through my bedroom window and grabbed my bow from under my bed. I then hopped down the two stories ignoring the slight discomfort that shot up my legs. I ran and ran until I reached my course in the woods. I raised my arrow from its sheath and lined it up with the string. I shot at all the targets hitting the bullseye on all of them so far, once I lined up my last arrow I let it go waiting for it to connect with the bullseye by it never did. I looked up to see Ryland standing in front of my last target holding my arrow in his hand. Did he really just catch it in mid air?

"You okay? I really don't like you being in the woods by yourself."

"I can defend myself! I don't understand why everyone thinks I'm so incapable of everything just cause of the stupid visions!" I yelled punching the nearest tree to me. I hissed in pain as my knuckles split open from the contact.

"Shit." Snapped Ryland rushing over to me."Why are you acting like this?"

"Leave me alone." I yelled right back.

"I need to get back to my pack in Alaska, pack your belongings and a few outfits. I'll buy whatever else you need, Be ready to leave in about two hours." He told me catching me completely off guard.

"Why can't you just stay here?" I asked, already knowing the answer to my dumb question.

"I'm an Alpha. You are not."

"I was supposed to be the alpha of this pack. Did you know that?" I snapped at him.

"I'm letting this behavior slide just because you've had a rough day but continue with this attitude and I won't be as forgiving." He growled at me harshly grabbing my wrist and bringing me back towards the opening in the woods.

——————————————————————

I don't want to go to his stupid pack. I don't want to leave and all the way to Alaska, I'll barely get to see James and Lydia.

The three of us were in my room packing up the few things I would be able to bring. Definitely my bow and arrows, a few t shirts, workout clothes, Two nicer outfits and a pair of jeans along with some of my boots.

I zipped my grey suitcase shut and hugged my siblings one last time before I would have to leave.

"Make sure to call me as soon as you get there! And then you better call me everyday!" Lydia ordered brushing my hair off of my shoulder.

"Here Octavia. This is one of my sculptures I used to carve a few years back, this way you will have a piece of me up in Alaska." James smiled handing me an intricately carved wooden wolf he had made from scratch. I smiled and pulled him into a hug. He held on really tight whispering how much he was going to miss me.

I walked down the stairs dragging my suitcase behind me. Once I got to the bottom I immediately caught Rylands scent.

"Why the fuck does he have to take her away! She needs us still! She isn't ready to leave." I heard my dad in the kitchen.

"We knew that this was going to happen, Lincoln. She's a strong independent young woman and it's time she finds her way. I don't want her to go either but this will be good for her i can feel it." Mom spoke.

As if they sensed my presence in the living room from the kitchen they both walked over and pulled me into a group hug.

"My babygirl has grown up so fast. Remember when we brought her home, Lincoln." Mom spoke with teary eyes.

"How could I ever forget one of the best moments of my life." He smiled with tears filling his eyes as well. They were going to make me cry.

"I'll visit all the time, and I'll call everyday." I promised.

My mom and dad gave me one last hug before I was whisked away by Ryland ushering me into the car parked in front of my house. Once I was buckled the driver pulled away.

"How long is the drive?" I asked him looking up at his mesmerizing bright green eyes.

"Maybe about three hours and then a thirty minute plane ride." He told me placing a hand on my leg making me squirm in my seat.

I was able to nap for a few hours gaining some energy back that I needed, but I was abruptly woken up. Ryland was looking at me with a raised eyebrow.

"You good?"

I just shrugged my shoulders in response. Not really feeling like getting into it. He scooted across the back seat unbuckling my seat belt and pulling me onto his lap before I could react. On instinct I nuzzled my head into his chest, before realized what I did and pulling away.

"I'm sorry." I frowned realizing how awkward I Probably just made this.

"What for?" He asked me looking straight into my eyes. My cheeks were probably as red as a tomato right now.

"Lets get to know each other a little bit better." He chuckled clearly seeing my embarrassment.

"My name is Ryland Woods." He spoke jokingly raising his hand out to me.

I took it with a smile.

"I'm Octavia Darkstone."

"What a lovely name." He spoke acting like a gentleman.

"What is your favorite color?" I asked him.

"Probably Red." He told me glancing out the window and then back at me.

"How many guys have you dated?" Oh so we are going straight to these questions.

"Oh a bunch, maybe about twenty." I couldn't help but let out a loud laugh at the sight of his angry face.

"Just kidding, I haven't dated anyone."

"That was not funny." He groaned.

"What about you, how many girls have you gone out with?" He tensed at my question, which caused a frown to take over my face.

"A few." He mumbled breaking eye contact.

"Oh." Is all I could come up with. I'm not mad though he was allowed to be with whoever he wanted before.

"Um, how old are you?" I asked him, wanting to change the subject.

"Twenty-three, I'm assuming your eighteen?" He asked.

"Now, I need to tell you some things about my pack, to prepare you I guess. Our pack members are trained killers, we train everyday, I will come off harsh and maybe cruel to them but never to you, okay?" I just nodded.

"If people are threatening you, get me first." He told me his eyes going dark.

"I can handle myself. I'm one of the best fighters in my pack, Ryland." I told him. I'm tired of people not believing in me at my pack and I'm not going to deal with that there.

"I don't give a shit, always get me first." He growled. "They are trained to kill, and they will try to kill you if you mess with them."

"You don't know enough about me to decide that I'm incapable of defending myself." I snapped at him. "Just because I'm a short girl, doesn't mean I can't kick your ass."

"Watch it!" He growled viciously at me.

"Or What!" I snapped losing my patience. I'm cranky, and hungry now is not the time to mess with me.

"Stop the car!" He opened his door and was at mine before I could even blink.

He yanked me out of the door and onto the side of the road. He rose a fist at me and it would've connected with my face if I hadn't dodged it. I glanced at his face and saw his dark red eyes, his Wolf was in control.

"What are you doing!" I yelled at him dodging all of his attacks.

"Teaching you a fucking lesson." He gripped onto my waist shoving me to the ground with a thump. I rolled before he could kick me. I quickly got to my feet and began my offense. I can't believe my mate is attacking me.

I ran right past him and had my feet connect with the tree behind us, I launched myself over him, doing a backflip sort of move to catch him off guard.

I raised my leg and kicked him at his side hard, hoping to knock him over, but nope. He grabbed onto my wrists again yanking me back so my back was pressed tightly against his front.

"You won't survive two seconds against a wolf. Your not even a werewolf." He snapped. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. My mind did it's shift until I felt like I was floating in my subconscious.

I forcefully yanked his arm away from me and launched myself at him.

"What the hell?" He snapped trying to get ahold of me again. I pinned him to the ground with my enhanced strength. I felt myself start to regain control as my demon got suppressed.

I immediately scooted away from him and took off into the woods. I heard him cursing and screaming my name as he chased after me. I didn't think he would try and hurt me. I was fast, that had always been one of my strongest attributes. I quickly grabbed onto the nearest tree and began climbing as fast as I could. I nestled myself at one of the forks in the tree and silently cried to myself. I shouldn't have left, I should have convinced my parents to let me stay.

"Octavia! I didn't mean to hurt you! Come out please! We aren't in any pack territory! There could be rogues!" He yelled with a panicked voice. "Ben get the fuck over here and find her!"

"Alpha I'm picking up her scent! Over here!" He yelled and only then did I realize his Beta was heading my direction. I began to panic causing myself to lose footing on the branches. I quickly grabbed onto the branch holding on for dear life as I saw Ryland running towards me. I swung my legs up and held onto the branch like a sloth. The tree shook a little bit as Ryland climbed up. He grabbed onto my waist with one arm and yanked me to his chest. He jumped down landing on his feet, holding me bridal style.

He placed me on my feet and pulled me towards where the car was. He looked like he was about to yell at me when vicious growls filled our ears. The three of us slowly turned around to see about eight rogues together. Ever since the war ended it wasn't uncommon to see a small group of rogues sticking together. But it did make it more inconvenient for non-rogues. Ryland and Ben quickly shifted. I stood in a defensive position. Two charged at Ryland, another two charged at Ben and that left lucky me with three. I began backing up and faked a worried look.

They charged at me knocking me down. I lifted my knee quickly snapping a rib and knocking it off of me. Another one bit at my ankle causing me to curse out in pain before i kicked it in the face. I spun around mid air and grabbed onto the wolf's neck snapping it quickly. Now just two. I grabbed onto a smaller branch and raised it defensively. The smaller of the two wolves was quick to dodge my attacks but the bigger one not so much.

I was able to hit the bigger wolf knocking it out on impact. Now it was just the little one. I heard growling and looked over at Ryland to see him snapping the neck of the last rogue he had left along with Ben who was in the process of killing his last rogue. I was almost knocked over by the small rogue but quickly dodged it. I was about to hit it I saw the all too familiar black wolf with a red 'x' on its shoulder. It's vicious deadly eyes staring into mine. I felt panic fill my chest but was brought out of it when I was knocked over by the rogue. It's teeth were about to clamp down on my throat when it was thrown off of me.

It whined before a crunching sound filled my ears. I stared back at where I saw the wolf, but it was gone. I started looking around wildly, fearing for everyone's safety.

I didn't even realize someone was in front of me until my shoulders began shaking. I snapped out of whatever trance I was just in and looked into Rylands concerned emerald green eyes.

"What's going on? Are you hurt? Dammit talk to me Octavia!" I looked back at that spot where I saw those cold eyes to double check that it was gone.

"Ben go look and find what she was looking at." Growled Ryland.

"No!" I quickly yelled catching them both off guard.

"Can we just go. Please." I asked quietly. Ryland nodded and pulled me off the ground.

We walked back to the car in silence.
