1 Unwanted Hero

Name calling, one of the ways for people to bully you was not so different from physical abuse. It hurt.

Elsa Ellen Drea was on her junior year in high school. She was comfortable with the fact that she was switching schools when she changed from elementary to middle school and from there to high school.

The bell rang to inform the students of the ending of the lecture. They had history which was interesting to her. She corrected her glasses on her nose before getting up, slowly she gathered her books to her lap and when every other student had left she walked out from the class room as well.

Her eyes were set down while she walked on the corridor. She heard clearly how the other students cheerfully chatted with each other of what they would do on the weekend. Sometimes she envied the way they actually got to do plans and top of all, had friends. But this was her choice, to be alone.

"Yo, four eyes," a guy snorted when Elsa turned around the corner to get into her locker. She was supposed to switch her history books to math before the next lecture begins.

"Not now Gaston," Elsa exhaled when she looked up.

The ponytailed darkhaired muscular man just smiled deviously, picking something from between his teeth with his nail.

"Are you in a hurry goggles?" His small friend mocked at Elsa.

"Yes, busy reading from books since she's a nerd," Gaston laughed and approached Elsa.

Elsa kept the books tightly against her chest when she backed up. Her back hit against the cool surface of the locker and she closed her ice blue eyes when Gaston reached his hand towards her. His hand hit against the books she was holding, dropping them down.

Elsa felt his hand on her shoulder, how his breath was floating over her skin and feeling disgustingly warm.

"Let me go," she whispered.

"Oh, better give me a kiss, then they might call you simply as a ...whore," Gaston laughed.

Elsa held her breath and tried to turn her head away from him. She opened up her eyes a bit to see how his lips were reaching towards hers. Then she closed them up again. Maybe she should show him...

"Hey, you should tease someone of your own size," someone shouted from distance.

Elsa felt how Gaston's hand let go of her shoulder and she heard how that someone run at the corridor. When she opened up her eyes she saw a fist slamming against Gaston's face and how he was pushed against a locker by a much smaller guy than him. He had silvery white hair.

"O-okay! Chill!" Gaston laughed and held his hands in front of him.

The white haired guy let him go. That was when Gaston stole a cup of coffee that his friend was holding. Quickly he poured the coffee on Elsa's books which laid on the ground and then he run off.

"No!" Elsa gasped and crouched down to try and save her books.

"Tch, " the white haired guy clicked his tongue and crouched down with her.

"Sorry about not being much more of a help," he mumbled and Elsa glanced at him.

She stared into the deep cyan blue eyes of a man with a sly smile. His thick dark eyebrows framed his vibrant, playful eyes which startled her. She felt a slight blush forming on her cheeks.

"That's fine, I could've figured it out myself," she replied and turned her eyes away.

She held her book up and some of the coffee was dripping down from it.

"I could buy you new books," he insisted.

"It is fine, really," she said and got up.

"No, I will buy you new ones. I'm Jack North you know," he grinned and forced himself between her and her locker.

Elsa lifted her glasses better on her nose and frowned. What is up with him.

"I do know who you are," she mumbled and pushed him aside.

Yes, she knew him. Who wouldn't know? He was the heir of Mr North, an owner of big toy business and therefore the richest guy in the school. A senior on top of it all.

"So they keep on bullying you?" He continued.

Elsa groaned, "Yes! But I don't mind. Everyone does that."

Jack began laughing. She was probably the first person ever to go against him, well of the girls anyway.

"Well, I don't," he smiled.

"Ugh, did your supply of girls run off so you're now after the most rejected girl in the school?" Elsa pouted.

Jack shrugged, "Maybe?"

Elsa rolled her eyes and slammed her locker close. She turned her back at him and started to stomp away after swinging her hair braid behind her shoulder.

Jack run after her, "I was just joking! I guess you're cool."

Elsa paused when he got in front of her.

"Cool?" Elsa repeated while lifting her eyebrows. She had never heard that one before.

"Yeah. Listen as a filthy rich person it is hard to find friends who see me through the fact that I have money.. .and since you seem like you aren't afraid or anything... I was wondering," he said and rubbed his neck.

Elsa was turning red. Everyone at the corridor was staring at them and whispering, the girls especially. Ofcourse they would, they were out in the open. She, the neglected girl and the boy with a real fanclub at the school. The most popular guy was talking to her. Figures.

"Listening," Elsa muttered angrily. "But I won't go out on a date," she hissed quietly.

Jack felt a bit surprised. "No, not on a date... I was wondering if we could hang out? As friends?" He grinned and held his hand out.

At first she was about to turn her back at him and never to speak with him again but... a single glimpse to his eyes told her a lot. The eyes of a lonely person were looking back at her so she felt a smile creeping to her face as she handed her hand out to him.

"Sure," she whispered while smiling before letting go of his cold hand and heading to her next lesson.

Jack felt victorious. He had just made a new friend after his best friend had moved to another city to live with his mom. Now he was happy that he took a detour from his class to another to go to bathroom because then he saw her.

"Shit I haven't gone to the bathroom yet," Jack whispered to himself before turning around. He ran to the bathroom and was a bit late from his next class because of it.

The following days Jack was always sticking close to Elsa during the recess. He was the one who managed to get her out during the day instead of staying indoors and studying. They shared multiple text messages and chatted from everything. She got him to study harder the following weeks, as he would sit on a high tree branch while Elsa would sit down on the grass, them both studying. It resulted in Jack getting better final grades in the end of his high school. Jack was fun to be around which Elsa had to admit and she was sad when the year came to the end. It was time for Jack to move on and go to study finance in different city.
