Chapter 2
When I woke up I felt like someone was using a jackhammer on my skull.
For a moment I wasn't even sure I was awake. Everything was pitch black. I tried to move my arms but they seemed to be stuck by my sides. I shifted a bit to feel as something holds my wrists in place along with my ankles. Yay.
The darkness is is replaced suddenly by a blinding light. I didn't know which is worse.
I blinked rapidly trying to force my eyes to adjust. Once I did, I looked about plain white room. I then looked back up.
Above me on the ceiling sat a large amount of fluorescent lights. And in the middle a large black semicircle hanging down. A camera. A camera.
I guess than whoever the bastard(s) was that grabbed me got a kick out of taping very thing that happens. At least when they get caught they have evidence I guess. But that's too late, I'll already have been killed by these psychos. Things just got better and better.
"He's awake," a voice said.
My eyes turned forward as a group of people walked in. Each wore a face mask and a white lab coat.
'Maybe this is realistic filming for a horror movie?' I had thought. Maybe a prank?
I knew I was desperate but, did I have much a choice.
One of the lab coats came forward and grabbed my arm and held up a small needle with a long tube attached.
"Just tell me what's going on," I said quickly. None of them replied but a few held me down as the needle was placed in my arm. Thankfully it wasn't super painful (but I may or may not have given a short yell of surprise or protest).
Another Lab Coat walked forward holding a large IV bag of a fluorescent green liquid.
"What is that?" I asked.
Still no reply.
They hook it up to the IV to tube on the needle. Once they finished they stepped back and a few pulled out notebooks and pens. They hovered their pens over their paper as they watched me intently.
I opened my mouth to speak again. "What is going on? Say something!"
Not one of the Lab Coats even flinched.
I stared at them all trying to figure out what the hell was going on. And why they were putting green liquid into me.
I should've have just gone to the police yesterday. I'm such an idiot.
I rolled my eyes at my own thought before I gave a small yawn. At the simple function all the Lab Coats write something down furiously and stare at me once again. Creepy.
Despite yawning just now I suddenly feel alert. Like I drank a coffee with a shot of Red Bull times 10.
I can feel me heart beating faster and I end up breathing heavily like I ran a marathon. None of the even move.
I feel my heart get faster as my breathing gets harder. And then-
~~~~
I opened my eyes with a groan. I looked around to find myself in the same room. Though now it was void of people. I glanced to the IV still in my arm. The bag now held a blue liquid rather than green.
I lifted my head slightly and instantly felt dizzy and let my head fall. I heard a door. Moment later restraints came off. They hoisted me up and I tried to stand but my legs felt like jello. I could barely move. They too out the IV and plopped me in a wheel chair before they rolled me into the hall.
As they pushed me down the hall I could barely register anything. I really just wanted to sleep more than anything. But my body refused to let me do so. The hall held no people. I was rolled down for a while until we went through some double doors. Then I noticed a girl being pushed in a chair coming the other direction.
Her hair was blonde and she glared at the wall next to her so I couldn't see her eyes. Then to my surprise she flickered.
She was there for half a second and then she wasn't.
"Hold her!" Shouted someone. One of the Lab Coats with her strapped her arms to the chair. I didn't get to watch much more as they continued to push me down the hall.
~~~~
The room had no window and a locked door. A steel bed and a toilet. I never saw anyone. But I knew they were watching me. I knew their cameras were in here somewhere. As they watched me as I slept. As I ate. As I used the toilet. I knew they even changed my clothes. Even if I couldn't see them, I knew they were there.
I know because that's the room where I went insane.
~~~~
Days ran together. So did the weeks and months. Has it even been that long? Or as it been longer? Years even?
I slept through some. Others I would stare at the wall thinking about things until my head felt ready to burst.
I would wonder who would miss me. My mom was dead and Gabe could do what he wanted. I had no friends at school. I would be gone and no one would know I had been there in the first place.
The food always came when I was asleep. When I would wake up there it was. A glass of water and a bland sandwich.
One time I refused to eat. I would starve myself just to see what they would do. Would they come in the room? Would they let me starve myself to death?
When I woke up an IV was in my arm. A sandwich say near my head.
Then I knew, they wanted me alive either way.
~~~~
One time I woke and my food was there as usual. I just sat glaring at it for a while. Wishing just to see a glimpse of the person who left it.
I never realized how much I liked the company of other people until then.
~~~~
One time I couldn't take it.
I don't even know what set me off but I woke up and then broke down crying. I don't even know what about.
I closed my eyes tight as I sobbed and when I opened them I saw a ball of water floating in front of my face. I froze in shock and the whole thing popped spraying water this was and that.
The door instantly slammed open.
Lab Coats rushed in and one grabbed my food tray. A sandwich and a now empty glass of water. I reached a hand out toward him. I just wanted to see if he was real.
I was stopped when a hand grabbed my wrist. I looked up to see a woman. She held a flashlight into my eyes and mumbles things which the others wrote down. She lowered the flashlight and handed me a glass of water.
I stared at it before raising it to my lips to take a drink. It was quickly ripped from my hands.
"Move it," she demanded. "Move the water. Like you did just now."
"How? I'm not sure what I did..." I said my own voice sounding strange to me after all my time of silence.
Her response was to slap me with a clipboard.
It took me a moment to register what happened. I looked back to her and she held the cup back out to me. I took it in shaky hands and watched it trying to figure out what to do.
"Abracadabra," I muttered under my breath to no effect.
I began to concentrate. I raised a hand over the glass desperate for it to do something.
I felt a small tug in my gut as the water moved slightly. I closed my eyes tried again. I heard voices talking and I opened my eyes to see a ball of water sitting in the palm of my hand. I stared at in disbelief. I raised my other hand and poked it yet it still held its shape.
"He's powerful," commented a deep voice. "Well done."
"Thank you sir," the woman replied.
I stared at the water unsure what to do next. Suddenly I felt winded. I felt the water drain from my hand and I felt tired.
I laid back and blinked the next time I opened my eyes they were gone.
~~~~
They came back sometimes as time ran on. Demanding that I moved it more. I simply did as I was told seeing no other option except a clipboard to the face so I picked the former.
Things all changed the day the woman wasn't there. The other Lab Coats evaluated me themselves.
An alarm begun to blare and they all dropped their things and rushed out. Barely noticing they had left my door open.
I moved quickly yet as silent as possible. I opened the door and heard footsteps one way and quickly went the other. It was oddly bright, since I was used to the dark room.
I walked down the endless hall desperate for a way out. I heard voices and quickly rounded a corner to run into someone. Before I could scream in shock a hand was clamped over my mouth.
I looked to its owner. It wasn't a Lab Coat. It was a guy maybe in his late teens or early twenties.
He had sandy blonde hair and blue eyes along with a scar on his face. Behind him stood a small pale boy and a Latino boy. The two boys behind him were dressed similar to me. In scrubs sorta like the kind doctors wear. Though the guy with a scar wore regular clothes.
"Do you want to get out of here?" The guy with the hand in my mouth asked. I nodded slowly. After he assured himself that I wouldn't scream, he removed his hand. "Then follow me."
~~~~
I followed the strange trio as we snuck down the halls until we reached an old room. Inside it were three girls. One with short spiky black hair who was busy giving a hug which seemed to crush the life out of a blonde girl next to them stood a girl with eyes that seemed to be a rainbow. The black haired girl too sore normals clothes while the other two wore some similar to mine.
The black haired girl released the blonde and the boy I had come with grabbed the blonde in a hug.
"You didn't find him?" The black haired girl asked quietly.
The boy I had come with shook his head.
"We need to get out of here," the rainbow eyed girl said.
Everyone nodded. "I know an easy way out," said the boy I had come with.
"Who are you? And why are you helping?" The rainbow eyed girl shouted at him.
"I'm Luke," he answered immediately. "And I used to be like you. Now do you wanna get out of here or not?"
"We can't leave the records," the blonde said suddenly. "They can use them for other people. And they may have records about him Thalia."
The spike haired girl- Thalia I presume nodded.
"How do we destroy them?" Luke asked.
"I can torch em," the Latino boy said with a smile his hands coming a blaze.
The sprinkles turned on but I quickly stopped them then I spoke surprising myself. "Let's do this quick. I think we've spent enough time here."
"I know a way out if it comes to last moment," said the pale boy speaking for the first time.
"So we're doing this?" Luke asked uncertainly.
"We're doing it," the rainbow eyed girl said and we all nodded in response. "I can distract easily."
Luke sighed and crossed the room to the door opening it slightly. "Then let's go."
