Willow's POV
"Hello brother," I say upon entering the room, just like last night. This morning was a success, printing a batch of 30 newspapers with my story. Luke easily snuck into a room with a computer and uploaded my pictures and typed up my story.
Placing the newspapers in front of the girl's rooms was Luke's idea. The pictures were mine. Especially the one of the curly haired brat and the prince kissing.
The only person who ever saw me was Rachel Dare and she didn't even suspect me. I'll have to try to become friends with her. That way I'll get more information from a reliable source. And I'll get some quotes from her to put in the paper.
"Hi Willow. Were you successful with giving all the girl's their papers?" Luke asks with mild interest.
"Of course, brother dear," I say, knowing it bothers him whenever I call him my brother.
We both have the same mother, but different fathers. I currently live with my father, Anthony Livingston. May Livingston left my father for a Four named Hermes Castallen. They had an affair for years before my father even married her. May Livingston became May Castallen. They had a baby boy, and my father found out and then she left him. Hermes left May soon after that. It served May right for leaving a perfectly good life. She had me a little bit later. The only thing Luke and I have in common, other than our mother, is our hair color. Luke lives with a few of his looser friends, both whom were selected. One of them is the best Annabeth Chase.
"Don't call me your brother. You're not my sister."
"Right, because the only one who is your sister is Annabeth, isn't that right, brother dear?" I say. His face goes white and I laugh as I walk towards him. I hold his cold face in my hands.
"You're much more transparent than you thought, brother. I'd watch out if I were you," I say while stroking his face. His eyes look breathless. "I doubt that you would like to cross me."
"What about Thalia, Willow? You forgot to mention her as my sister," Luke says bravely.
I take a knife that was hidden in my skirt and hold it to his throat. His Adam's apple bobs uncertainly.
"Oh, but I've seen how you look at Annabeth and how you look at Thalia. And the two looks are completely different, brother. You love Annabeth like a sister, but you look at Thalia with a look of need, a look of want. And it isn't a good thing to list over a girl from the Selection. Especially when a Selected knows about the said affair," I say, smiling as I twist the knife.
"You...you wouldn't say anything," he gasps.
I give him a cold smile. "You don't know what I would do."
Faster than Luke can move, I twist him away from me and slam his body to the ground. Before he can get away, I carve my knife into his back. He screams in pain while I dig it deeper. Blood starts to leak through his shirt.
I slowly dig the knife out of his back, bringing blood with it. Luke writhes on the floor, still in pain.
"Foolish brother! You fell on a rose bush and destroyed your uniform, cutting yourself in the process. My, my you're so clumsy," I say to my brother. He says nothing in return.
I pull him up by his collar. Luke winces at the sudden movement. I move his ear towards my mouth.
"If you value your life, you will keep my secrets, unless you want all of yours to accidentally scatter into the news. To you understand me, my weak brother?" I whisper.
Luke gives me a small nod. I push him back to the ground and leave him there. There's no noise from him as I shut the door.
I happily walk up to Rachel's room. My pink flowers match the yellow so perfectly. And I didn't get any blood on my dress!
I knock rapidly on Rachel's door. After a few seconds, she opens it.
"Hello?" She calls.
"Hi! I'm Willow Livingston and I saw the newspaper this morning. I thought it was so awful for someone to act like the Prince likes that bratty blonde girl more than you," I gush.
"Really?" She asks, obviously surprised.
"Definitely. It's so obvious that he likes you more."
"Um, thanks I guess, but I better get going."
"Oh. I understand. I guess the future queen has more important things to do than make a new friend," I say sadly, turning away.
"What do you mean 'future queen'?" Rachel demands. I smile before turning back around.
"Well, it's sort of obvious that he likes you most of all. So he'll slowly send us home one by one, until it's only you left. Then you two will get married and become One's!" I say, trying to sound like I know what I'm saying.
"I don't think he likes me that much-"
"Please, I saw him kissing your hand this morning. He didn't do that to the other girl. He hasn't even talked to her today."
Her expression immediately goes sour. "Well, he kissed the other girl, and not me."
"Probably because Annabeth forced it onto him. She seems like a dramatically inclined girl. I didn't trust her the first time I saw her," I say honestly, thinking back to the time that I visited Luke, just to find that he replaced me with another blonde haired little girl. I hated Annabeth so much that day, and my hatred has only grown.
"Yeah. Well, I'm busy right now, but maybe we can hang out this afternoon in the ladies room?" Rachel offers.
"Sounds perfect! I'll be there at two," I say before leaving.
I hear the sound of the door closing and I release a breath. I pass Annabeth's room, fighting an urge to spit on the door. That day when I was younger and saw how Annabeth looked at Luke and vice versa, I felt something snap inside of me.
"Come on, Willow! Time to meet your brother," my father called out to me. I ran towards him, my white dress tripping me.
I ran into his arms and he lifted me up and twirled me around. I laughed and he spun faster. Pretty soon, we were both too dizzy to walk.
"Now Willow. Daddy has to talk to your Mommy, so play nice with your brother and his friends, okay Pumpkin?"
"Why can't I meet my Mommy?" I whined.
"Because she isn't feeling well and I need to take to her about taking custody of her child. You wouldn't understand it, you're way too young."
"Okay Daddy, I'll play with my brother."
"There's my little angel," he says fondly, ruffling up my hair. I give him a toothless grin before running the other way.
I find where my brother plays easily enough. My daddy showed me where to go. I look for a place to knock, but don't see one. Seeing no other option, I walk towards them.
"Hi!" I yell. "I'm Willow, Luke's sissy!"
I see Luke look over and wince at the sight of me. I feel a stab in my heart.
"Go away, Willow. We don't want you here."
"But daddy said I had to play with you. So I'm here to play!"
"Kid, we aren't playing," a girl with short black hair says in a mean voice.
My lower lip trembles. They are supposed to be nice to me, but they're being mean.
"This is only for big kids," Luke says to me.
"But she's here," I say, pointing to a girl with curly blonde hair, pulled back into a ponytail. Her gray eyes shoot daggers in my direction.
"Listen to me, kid. Only certain people can be here. People like us."
"But I can be like you! I can do anything!"
"How long do you think she's going to believe that?" the other little girl asks. She acts like she's older, but she isn't.
"Oh, come on. We can let the kid hang with us," the older girl says in a dangerous tone.
I'm starting to regret my decision about wanting to play with them, but it's too late.
"Okay. Willow, we're going to play a game called Truth or Dare. Do you know how to play?" Luke asks me.
I slowly nod my head. Big kids play this game at recess. Or they used to before it got banned by the teachers.
"Okay. Thalia, you go first."
"Annabeth, truth or dare?" Thalia asks the little girl.
"Dare," she says firmly.
"I dare you to climb to the top of that tree," Thalia says, pointing to a tall pine tree.
Annabeth nods before heading to the base of the tree. She climbs to the top and back down again in record time. She sits down right next to Luke.
"Luke, truth or dare?"
He thinks about it for a while before choosing. "Truth."
Annabeth smirks. "Is it true that you love Thalia."
Luke stops smiling. Thalia stops smirking confidently. They look at each other, and then at Annabeth.
"What do you mean, Annie? I love both you and Thalia," Luke says in a soft voice.
"But you love Thalia differently," Annabeth argues, her gray eyes becoming brighter.
A flicker of emotion flashes across Luke's face.
"I choose dare."
"Fine. I dare you to kiss Thalia."
Thalia stares daggers at Annabeth, but she doesn't care. She sits there, so high and mighty and worthy of my brother's love.
"I'm not kissing him," Thalia announces.
"Scared?" Annabeth taunts.
Thalia is about to answer, but closes her mouth. She looks at Luke with a fond softness I have never before seen. A love that is unbreakable, even in youth.
"Fine. Come on, Thalia."
Luke and Thalia stand up and go around the pine tree. Annabeth silently stands up and climbs the tree again, as swift as any animal. And as quiet.
Annabeth leans over and watches. Luke and Thalia are blocked from my view. Anxious, I walk over.
At first, I'm confused as to why I only see a blend of Thalia and Luke; Luke's blonde hair blended with Thalia's black. Luke's jeans and Thalia's leather jacket. Then I realize that they're still two different people, just blended together with the same passion. They're eagerly kissing each other, bodies pressed together.
I can tell that Luke loves Thalia. And I can tell that Thalia loves Luke. And Annabeth loves them both. A perfect family, right there.
Before I know what I'm doing, I pull out a camera. I take their picture, the flash off so they don't know. I run back to the house.
"Daddy!" I wail upon entering. My father appears in front of me.
"What is it, Angel? What's wrong?"
I show him my most recent picture. My father's eyes grow darker as he takes in the sight of Luke and Thalia kissing a little bit too passionately for two kids.
"Where are they?" He asks in a gruff voice.
"Follow me."
I lead him outside and to the tree, where Annabeth is still spying and my brother is still kissing Thalia.
"What is going on here?" My father yells at them.
They immediately pull apart. Luke takes Thalia's hand in his and they stand there, defiantly. Annabeth scurries down from the tree and stands next to them.
"I do not know how terribly May had been raising you, but I will not stand for it. Young lady, go home right now. You too, brat," my father spits out.
Thalia's blue eyes seem to pierce holes in my dad. She crosses her arms and looks up at my dad.
"I am home, sir. You can't send me away from my home, seeing that you don't even live here."
"Sorry, Mr. Livingston, but you and your daughter are no longer welcomed here," Luke says coldly to my father.
"I wasn't aware that you made the rules, Luke. And I also wasn't aware that I, a Three, should be taking orders from a fourteen year old Four," my dad snarls.
"Well, I wasn't aware that hostile youth should be conducting their parents in this manner," Annabeth cuts in.
"I have no idea what you mean, young lady," daddy says, emphasizing the "young".
"Let me put it in simpler terms that you will understand. Your daughter came in and disrupted our life routine. Excuse us for not being eager to immediately leave our home just because a little girl is jealous that she doesn't know her brother."
"You have no right to speak about my daughter like that, you little brat!" He screams at Annabeth.
"I have the right to do what I want," she says firmly, crossing her arms.
My dad moves so fast, I almost miss it. He reaches for Annabeth and slaps her across the face, hard.
She gasps with pain and clutches her face. Thalia launches herself at my dad while Luke runs to Annabeth.
"Stop it!" I scream. No one listens to me.
My dad shoves Thalia off of him and she hits the base of the pine tree with a sickening crack. She doesn't move.
Luke releases a cry of fury and attacks my dad. Daddy picks up a sharp stick. I'm pulled backwards before I can see what Daddy does to Luke.
Annabeth has my hair clenched in her small fists. She yanks back and I fall down onto the forest ground, pine needles stabbing me in the back. I hear Luke scream with raw pain. I'm too stunned to move.
I feel Annabeth move away from me, shouting Luke's name. I sit up and see Thalia and Annabeth hovering over Luke's still body. No one is hovering above me.
I see my Daddy wiping off a bloody stick. He drops it, triumphant.
"Come now, Willow. Let's be heading home."
I take my dad's outstretched hand and we walk away. I turn around once to see a bleeding scratch running down Luke's face. It wasn't there earlier.
I happily walk back to the car with my dad. We never went there again.
I shake myself out of that memory. Luke still has the scar running over his eye, distorting his handsome face. I never talked to them again. At least, not until the Selection.
Now I just need for Annabeth to get her heart broken, just like she broke my heart when she stole my brother from me. And Thalia and Luke need to get publicly executed for having an affair during the Selection. Then I can finally have my revenge for them turning my Daddy into a cold, bitter man.
So what do you think about Willow? Is she completely wacko, or not? Don't forget to vote and comment!
