Welcome back
Standing in front of the old stone archway that leads into camp, I hesitated. Would anyone even remember me? Do they hate me for leaving? What am I thinking, they won't hate me? Annabeth and Clarise are my best friends. Gods after five years away I really missed this place. I left on a mission to avenge my sister's death, traveling all over the world and tracked her killer to Epirus in the House of Hades. I'm jerked out of my thoughts suddenly by a deep, throaty snarl followed by a deafening howl. I whirl around and dive to the right just as a giant, gray Canine pounces on the spot where I previously stood, reaching over to grab my dagger from my belt I start to panic when it's not there, I look around Franticly, to see it lying on the ground... Right next to the hellhound.
spinning around I lurch forward to run towards the camp, but trip over a thick tree root and twist my ankle. Cowering against the tree trunk, helpless and unarmed as the hound gets closer, I cover my face with my arms waiting for the beast the kill me. Just when I should have been puppy chow I hear an awful high-pitched Yelp and then silence. Uncovering my face I see a slightly tan boy about Eighteen with black hair and dark brown eyes slowly creeping towards me as if not to startle me, when he speaks it's a soft and soothing tone of voice, slightly above a whisper, as you would a startled animal. Gold dust drifting through the air and falling around him.
"Hey, you're safe now." He says quietly, holding out his hand as if to help me stand up,
I snap back to reality and realize he's speaking to me like I'm a child that doesn't understand what's going on. I'm not new here. slapping his hand away I use the tree to balance myself as I stand. Glaring at the boy with intense fury I snap at him
"Obviously I'm safe, what do you take me for an idiot, don't talk to me like I'm a child, it's degrading." He retracts his hand as his face quickly distorts into one of anger, and slight disbelief. With a scoff, he steps back with his hands raised.
"I'm sorry I was just trying to help you, a simple thanks for saving my life would have been good enough." He snaps back angrily. I stand up and yell in frustration,
"if i needed help I would have screamed for it, you ever think that getting killed by a hellhound was my whole plan?" the nerve of this infuriatingly cute guy. I stomp over to my dagger and storm into camp to get away from him, making a stop at the infirmary on my way to my cabin. My ankle was killing me, and I might have been mad but I wasn't an idiot.
