20- I Didn't Kill Anyone

Ri
"Right," I walked back into the house with Livy in tow, looking from my husband to my son, "you two explain how we got into this mess."

"Well, I don't really think that you can blame me for this," Apollo said.

"You claimed her," I raised my eyebrows at him.

"Yeah, because I thought she was a legacy of mine!"

"If you used your brain for once, you would have easily been able to work out that her aura is far too powerful to be a legacy," I sighed and shook my head.

"I made a mistake, we all do it! Need I remind you of when you got yourself blown up on the Princess Andromeda?"

"No, you didn't need to remind me of that," I rolled my eyes, and turned to look at Cai, "your turn Cai, explain why you didn't tell us that you have a daughter."

Cai gave an awkward laugh, "well... I met Grace in a bar. I was bored and when I'm bored I people watch. She was the first and last person that I ever spoke to. I took her out for meals, she was lovely, like no one I had ever met. When she told me that she was pregnant I knew that I'd messed up. I gave her some money and I promised myself that I would never see her again, I knew that it would be easier for both of us. It would be easier for her to hate me."

"She never hated you," Livy piped up, "I hated you, Mum always defended you, I think she subconsciously knew that there was a reason you ditched her."

"Cai, running away from your problems never solves anything," I said, remembering all the times that I had done just that, and it had litterally resulted in my death.

"It's not like I could've told her the truth," Cai replied, "she would have thought I was clinically insane."

"Yeah, she would have," Livy agreed.

"She's better off without me," Cai nodded, sounding very dejected.

I glanced at Apollo, whose expression told me that he understood exactly what Cai was feeling.

"It's the curse of the immortals," said Apollo sadly, "we watch mortals that we love live their lives knowing that we can never really be a part of them." He glanced at me, "eventually you'll get lucky enough to meet one who decides to stick around."

Silence fell on us. A strange understanding seemed to pass between Apollo and Cai. I moved my eyes between the two, trying to work out what was going unsaid.

"Why did you tell mum that your name is Fred Chester if your name is Caius?" Livy asked after the silence had become unbearable.

"You told Grace that your name is Fred?" I asked Cai.

"Yeah... what's wrong with being called Fred?" Cai asked.

"No wonder they thought she was my kid," Apollo laughed and shook his head, "Fred always has been and always will be my go-to name."

"This whole situation is just one massive misunderstanding isn't it," said Livy, glancing over at me.

"Yes, it really is," I laughed, "and this discussion is not over, but there will be another time for it. I really should get you back to camp before they all think I've murdered you."

********

Camp was in a state of utter uproar. People were running in and out of the big house, carrying weapons and shouting commands at one another. It seemed that the entire population of Camp Halfblood, Camp Jupiter, New Rome and New Athens was gathered near the big house in an anxious discussion.

I withdrew my hand from Livy's shoulder and strode towards the Big House, where I was sure I would find a council in progress discussing how I had just killed a demigod.

I heard gasps, and people parted to let me through, either out of respect or fear- I wasn't sure and frankly, I was offended at the idea of them being scared of me. I walked into the big house and found a crowd gathered in the rec room.

"I know that it's Ri we're talking about, but she just killed a demigod," I heard Piper saying, "we can't give her a pass just because she's our friend."

"First of all," I said, causing people to jump out of my way so that I could make my way to the pingpong table where the Heroes of Olympus were seated, "I think it's pretty rude that you all think I would actually kill someone, and secondly I also think it's rude that you've been telling new demigods that I'm crazy."

"Ariadne where is Livy?" Annabeth demanded.

"Oooo full name, I'm so scared!" I laughed, "you can all calm down, Livy is fine, she's outside."

"No, I'm here," Livy stuck her head around my back and waved at the assembled demigods.

"See, she's fine!" I said, "but back to how you guys have been telling people I'm crazy-"

"We didn't tell anyone you're crazy," said Leo, "people just assumed it, it's not a big jump really- you are a bit crazy."

"Wait, hold up?" Percy stuck his hands in the air to stop people getting off track, "if you didn't kill Livy, what did you do?"

"We had a nice chat with Apollo and Cai. It turns out that Cai is her dad, and that Apollo only claimed her because he thought she was his legacy," I looked at the group, who were all staring at me blankly. "I'm not mad at you all for trying to hide Apollo having a kid from me, I'm just really pissed off at you."

"Well, we didn't want you to kill her," said Hazel in defence of their actions.

"As I told Livy, I wouldn't have killed her, I would have killed Apollo," I rolled my eyes, "I may be a god, but I don't think like them nor do I act anything like them."

"Okay, we're sorry for thinking that you were going to kill Livy," said Annabeth, "but you gods have a track record for not caring about collateral damage."

"Again with this 'you gods' stuff," I raised my eyebrows, "don't lump me in with their dramatic asses."

"Fine, we're sorry for that too," Annabeth rolled her eyes, "but you can't blame us for worrying!"

"I mean, I could, but I won't," I grinned and winked at them, I sat myself down in the spare chair, "so what are we talking about then?" I reached over and grabbed some pop-chips from the bowl in the middle of the ping-pong table.

"Well, we were discussing how you killed Livy, but clearly that didn't happen, so why don't we talk about the fact that the unisex toilet is still blocked," said Percy, shooting me a grin.

Annabeth got to her feet and took Livy's arm, "Livy, would you go and show S.T that you're not dead? She's in her cabin."

Another chapter!
I'm so hyped for Avengers: Endgame you have no idea! I've got tickets to see it on the 27th and I'm so excited I can't even (I just saw the masterpiece that is Captain Marvel for the second time in preparation for Endgame).
