Percy

Elves.

Seriously I'm not joking.

They said they're elves.

They said they come from a place called the lost cities.

Do I believe it? Kinda sorta maybe? I don't really know what to believe anymore.

I mean I've fought giants, Titans, survived two wars, countless quests, and been through literal hell and back, but out of all that this sounded way too weird.

A sparkly city with a bunch of human looking elves? I mean, what happened to green boots and pointy ears and hats?

Well, aside from that, the fact that they'd grown a whole civilization and lived this long away from the rest of the world... well that seemed impossible.
Then again, I can't really say that. I'm the son of an ancient Greek god.

Anyways back to the story...

This is the story of how my life took another horrible trip to Hades and back.

Alright fine. It's not all about me this time. Mostly about an elf named Sophie Senc- wait no I mean Foster. Sophie Foster.

"Go on without me!" Jason cried.

"No! We can get through this together just like we always do!" I kneeled besides him.

"There's no time! You must defend our honor. Don't let my death be for nothing!"

"I can't do this without you!"

"Goodbye... old friend." He went limp in my arms.

Behind us, I could hear Piper whispering to Annabeth, "they do realize this is just a dodgeball game, right?"

Okay so we may have over done it just a bit. But have you ever tried playing dodgeball with Annabeth? Twenty seven games and out of that it was girls twenty seven and boys zero.

I mean, with Annabeth on your team you're literally invincible.

Annabeth raised a ball. "Piper, this is war. Show no mercy."

And the game continued.

It was me, Leo, Nico, Jason, and Frank, against Annabeth, Piper, Hazel, and Reyna.

They were short one person and we were losing.

They were always one person short and we had never won a game. Ever. It was getting tiring.

Especially since Jason was currently knocked out in the corner with a big purple bruise on his head.

...We should probably take him to the infirmary, right?

Oh well, no time. We were in the middle of literal war.

I ran screaming with my hand raised holding a ball right about to hit someone when- "ow!" I was knocked over by something that fell from the sky.

No, not something, someone. "Nico?" Hazel walked over. Everyone suddenly forgot about the game. "Nico what-"

He looked up at me, worry clearly shown in his eyes. Then his eyes rolled up and he passed out.

"We need to get him to the infirmary. Now!"

I guess we forgot all about Jason.

Earlier in Hades palace

"Did you know the most popular items sold in grocery stores are milk and carbonated beverages? After them come breakfast cereals. Cereal is very important you should be eating one bowl every morning. Maybe then you wouldn't be so thin." Demeter was giving me a lecture on why I should eat cereal for the five millionth time.

I saw dad storm in behind he, looking at his new iPhone and muttering something. Yes he got an iPhone and had also installed a spy camera in the Olympus throne room.

I stared at him, pleadingly. The unspoken words: save me.

He looked up. "Oh good. You're here." He said to me. "I need to tell  you something."

I have never loved anyone more than at that moment. I got up and walked out of the room with him.

I stared at him for a minute, before bursting out laughing. "Elves- Sparkly- What!" I doubled over.

We were under attack by sparkly elves. That's what I had gotten from this conversation. That's the information my dad had gotten from spying on the Olympus throne room.

"It's not a joke! We are in danger. Here I'll show you." He snapped his fingers and I felt myself spiraling into darkness.

Keefe

"Wait!" I yelled to the girl.

She was running now. Super fast.

I stopped and bended over, panting. I really need to get into shape.

"Wait!" I yelled again, or tried to at least. It came out more as a groan. I continued running. Gosh this girl was fast.

She suddenly stopped. Big mistake. I tried to stop too but couldn't, like my feet had a mind of their own. I came crashing down on her and we both tumbled over. Then I saw why she had stopped. We fell over the edge of the canyon.

"Ahhhhhh." Was all you could hear from both of us. This was it. After 16 (that's how old he is, right?) long years, I was going to die.

"Goodbye world... it was nice while it lasted..." I started to close my eyes dramatically... wait you have telekinesis. I'm so dumb.

I safely landed us both at the bottom of the cliff.

The girl stared at me, panting, out of breath too. I assumed she was shocked about the telekinesis, but she'd known I was an elf.

About half an hour later...

We were sitting down next to a river by the edge of the cliff we'd fallen over. No one had spoken since.

"What're you doing here?" Was the first thing that came out of her mouth.

"Huh?" I was confused. What was I doing in these woods? The human cities? This world?

"The human cities. You ran away, didn't you?"

I nodded. "You're an elf?"

The girl nodded. "I ran away when I was seven. Haven't returned to the lost cities since."

"What're things like there?" She said in an almost whisper after a pause. "It's been so long..."

"It's not the best back home. There are these people called the Neverseen-" At this her eyes widened. "What?"

"N- nothing just... nothing."

"Okay then...." I was glad we were making conversation. For some reason I liked  this girl. (Don't worry I'm not replacing Sophie. Sokeefe forever!) She wasn't like most other girls I'd met.

"The Neverseen are kind of terrorizing the lost cities. It's not the best place right now." I didn't know if I should tell her this next part. She seemed trustworthy. "I- my mom is one of the leaders of the Neverseen. It's part of the reason I ran away."

At this, her eyes went even wider. "What?" I said again.

She sighed. "I should probably tell you it's why I ran away too."

"What?"

"My mom's part of the Neverseen. I ran away because - this is just a guess - of the same reason as you."

"What reason?" I was confused. Then, realizing what she'd said, "you're mom's part of the Neverseen?"

"It's better if I show you." She closed her eyes and concentrated. "Freeze." She whispered.

I froze.

It felt like I was trapped in a bubble and couldn't move at all. I tried to lift a finger. I couldn't.

She closed her eyes again. "Un-freeze!" I unfroze.

"You're like me." I stated. "But how..."

"I'm an empath and polyglot like you. It happened when I was seven, right before I ran away. I don't remember much before... everything is pretty unclear... I can't remember my mom's name but... I think she went by Umber."

Crappy chapter I know. I tried to fit all the information I needed to in this chapter but it was kinda hard. Hopefully the next will be better
