Chapter 11: X-Men

—New York—

It was 9 PM and the X-Men were hovering on top of Avengers Tower, waiting for the people to exit the building. Charles sent them a message that Kilgrave was inside the building so they waited until enough of the employees were out.

To be honest, Danny and Robbie haven't told Elektra, Luke or Jessica that they were going to infiltrate the Avengers Tower that night. They just want to have their normal lives back. Colleen and Claire had to stay in Japan so they could lay low. The only time they could come back is when they hear that Kilgrave is dead or Matt is no longer a criminal. Two things that might happen that night.

"So, you do this often?" Robbie asked Erik who was closing his eyes while they were waiting. "The whole jet thing?"

"When you are an X-Men, you basically have to learn how to fly. That's the rule I learn after staying here for nearly a decade straight without leaving." Erik chuckled from the memory.

"He wasn't always the good guy." Hank added who was maintaining the jet's hovering position.

"That was in the past, McCoy. Don't dwell into it too much."

"You guys have to tell me that story for another time. It sounds interesting. Even the ones where it's hero vs hero." Robbie said.

"I wasn't exactly the hero in those stories. I was more of the one who wanted to maintain peace." Erik smiled at Robbie. He closed his eyes once more and started muttering words, "Hank! What are we waiting for?"

"Mystique is infiltrating the tower as a security guard. She said she'll be cautious." Hank answered.

"She's always cautious. Tell her to report immediately." Erik groaned. "This seat is killing me."

Inside the tower, Mystique was moving through the halls unnoticed. Several guards were placed on the night shift so it took longer than she expected. Vases, plants and anything that was artistic were placed in the hallways so it could be appreciated. Similar to the fashion of the X-Mansion. Simple but easy to appreciate.

She slid into the archive files since it was one of the places where Kilgrave would look first. It seemed like no one was there besides two guards sleeping in the doorway. Before she left, she saw a man reading carefully. The file's name was "The Initiative" but the folder was covering the man's face. She started approaching him.

"Sir. May I ask why you are here?" Mystique asked, disguised as a security guard.

"Enough." Kilgrave sighed as he lowered the file, "Roam the halls. Make sure that no one enters or exits the building. Understand."

"Will do, sir." Mystique answered.

Thirty minutes passed and there was still no word on Mystique. Erik was getting annoyed by the noise the jet was making so he stood up and placed the helmet on his head. Hank questioned what he was doing of course but he answered it sweet and short. Robbie and Danny followed, stealthily landing on the helipad on top of the tower.

"We're here. Now what?" Danny asked, tightening his Iron Fist mask.

"We find them." Erik looked at them and knocked his helmet, "He can't control me because the orders are being blocked by the helmet."

"Good. But I'm pretty sure they had a different type of use before." Robbie smiled and Erik scoffed.

"A man named Sebastian Shaw used this helmet to stop Xavier from reading his mind. I must say, it was a perfect fit for me."

They walked downstairs and multiple guards noticed the three men who were dressed inappropriately. Erik stopped them all easily by using metal to his advantage. First he got rid of the guns and then he would bend the metal to hold the men on the walls. Danny and Robbie just stopped those Erik missed.

"You seem to do this a lot. You can tell by the way you handle things quickly." Robbie pointed out.

"Or maybe I work more and talk less." Erik pushed the guards back to let them fall on the ground and pointed their guns at them, "You might want to stay down this time."

Erik, Robbie and Danny quickly reached the archive room where Mystique was being questioned by Kilgrave. There was no sign of Matt so Robbie and Danny checked the floors below them. It was time for Erik to interrogate.

"I think you have done enough harm there, Mr. Kilgrave." Erik chuckled in amusement, "But things do come to an end so may I please ask you to hand over my colleague please."

"Did you know I give the orders here? So that means why won't you put a gun in your face!" Kilgrave shouted in anger.

"The helmet works." Erik smirked and started walking towards Kilgrave. The shelves were being peeled off to hold Kilgrave on the wall where Erik wanted. "This is how you approach things, am I right Mr. Kilgrave? You act like people are your personal flying monkeys?"

"Very..." Kilgrave stopped to think of the word, "amusing to hear that from you."

"Amusing?"

Suddenly Matt struck Erik's skull which bounced off the helmet. Erik laid on the ground, unconscious. Since he was unconscious, the metal on Kilgrave fell of which gave him time to breath.

"Very good, Murdock. Hand me the files, please." Kilgrave ordered, holding his neck in pain,

"Here you go, sir." Matt gave Kilgrave the files and looked at Erik, "Shall I carry him over there or..."

"Just leave the bloody bastard there. I'm sure he can handle it himself." Kilgrave reached his phone to call someone. "The package is here my friend. It's time to hand over what you promised. Cash."

Matt escorted Kilgrave towards the roof where the helicopter was waiting for him. They already cornered Hank who crashed his plane on the street below them. Everything was going according to plan. The only thing left was the real ending.

"Sir, I can hear a heartbeat approaching quickly. It's Tony Stark." Matt said.

"Just on time. Set of the explosion on the twelfth floor. Stark will know it's them." Kilgrave smiled as he entered the helicopter.
