Chapter 15
Chapter 15
We survive
We immediately packed our things, we can't risk staying any longer into this place when Cha said that this is a riot. The glass house was shaking, and it's already breaking and because of this, we really should move out. It is like its happening again from what we have been experienced in the earthquake that comes after the flood. What does it take for a human being to live in a place without hindrances? I guess, in Noble Land, it won't happen but when on the field, it can't be and also inevitable in every circumstance.
All these fortuitous events, always have to come in one resolution, we would end up dead or we'll found ourselves taking another footstep into a strange land.
I saw Cha heading outside but I immediately stopped her by holding her hand.
"What are you doing?" I asked, confused.
"I'm going back to the tower," she said, but I do not agree to what she's saying, "I have my things there and I couldn't leave without it..."
"We'll get you there," I said.
"No," she shook her head, "I can get there as fast as I can, and one thing, I have a truck and just wait for me outside the Glass Jungle," I didn't get to make her decision change and something must have been important and she's getting it back.
She left the glass house and look for her and she runs through the fog and she's gone.
I came back to help Al in preparing our things. He asked why Cha would left and I just told that she needed something to get back. We stopped for a moment when the glass house was already tearing apart—like the glass is creaking and can cut you right up ahead.
"Move faster, Dylan," Al said.
"I know, I'm doing it, okay?!" I countered.
When I get to finished packing my things back to my backpack, I started my motorbike and jump on it. I called Al when everything is set to go, he hurriedly jump on my back and as I take the bike outside, we were endowed by the fog that we couldn't possibly see the road and all the tower up in our heads were gone and it's like—a ghost town.
The ground was still shaking, mildly but Cha said this thing isn't good.
She happened to see it one time and she couldn't stand to be on the way of those wild animals. She never tells what they look like, and it's a like a freaking giant animal that wants to destroy the whole city and this time, it is much worse than before
"Just go, Dylan!"
"We can't see in the fog!" I said.
"Do you want me to drive it, huh?"
"No, way."
"Then go!" he yells, "we don't have time for this, Dylan. We should leave this place."
"We'll never leave until Cha wasn't with us."
"Just go!"
We travel through the fog. We bound to hear a lot of people's voices and sometimes, their screams. I didn't know where we're heading but just to get through this place and I think, in just a matter of minutes, this place will shatter into broken pieces.
From not far from us, we heard loud roars that echo through the places. We stop for a bit because it seems like by the engine of my motorbike, we attract those wild animals. And suddenly, a girl coming from the shadow of fog comes right to us, she got cuts all over her face, arms and even her clothes her stashed.
She held my arms, "please... help me..."
Al and I just looked at each other, and the girl was begging for help, her cuts were bleeding.
"Can't you see me, I'm bleeding, I'm hurt and I need your help!" she shouted but we don't know how to help her, "they're coming..." and by the last words she said, we're intrigued.
"Wild animals?" I guessed.
She nodded reluctantly, "yes... please..."
When Al gives me a nod, it only just means to do what's right. He moved a bit on my back to give some space for the girl but before she could jump right in, someone attacked her. Our eyes were widened as what we have seen right on our face.
"What is that?" I mumbled.
Al continuously patted my shoulder, "go... go... go!"
I ran the motorbike, entering another thick fog. We couldn't believe that we're almost getting attacked by it. We didn't see much of it but it's like shiny and have sharp edges. Al was trying to work his tech to help us get out of this place but he couldn't make it work, it so happens that his tech didn't show the map and we're lost to it.
Where shall we go? Cha knows this place than us.
There were so many noises to hear, screams and cries of people, loud roars of wild animals and the falling debris of glass from the towers. While we're getting through with all those things, keeping ourselves away from the people who were trying to block our way and snatch our bike and our bags—we immediately try to get away from them. At first, we didn't know how many people have been staying here, from the first day—there were many people have been dropped off here and they stayed and all the supplies were run out and the worst thing was happening, were the threats of this place.
How could the High Council create such things to eliminate all people in just one event?
"If Cha has come with us, we won't be lost," Al said.
"Now you said, you needed her this time." I smirked, "it just because she knows this place, not because I needed her... she is a great addition to the team but not so valuable."
"You may say that," I said, "but we have to make sure that we make out of here alive."
We stopped as Al's tech worked, we were about to go between on the left or right side of the road but on Al's tech, it is saying that we should go left.
"How sure are you that your tech works?"
"I made it." He said, "now, go before anyone found us here!"
We took the left road, as we get through it we stopped when we reach a rummaging sound of loud running footsteps. And they're coming right into us.
"I think your tech lead us into traps," I mumbled.
"It won't."
"It did," I said and somehow, the ground shakes more intensely.
We wait for a few seconds until the wild animals vividly came off to the fog.
"She didn't say the wild animals were all glass," Al said.
"That's why they're shiny," I muttered.
"And then what we are doing, Dylan? Go!"
I started the engine and ran from it. They were following us. And somehow a truck, came on our way and we've seen Cha inside and throw something onto the raging wild animals, and in a sudden, an explosion comes but some of them shattered into pieces but most of them run into anger and rage.
"Where have you been?"
"I already got out of the city but you guy wasn't there, so I came back!" she said, "now just took the road straight and then turn right and from the second turn left and that's when you leave the Glass Jungle!"
"What about you?!" I shouted.
"I'll try to lure them out, so you can get out!" she said, "now, drive away!"
I didn't hesitate to follow what she said. I took the long road and take turns and it doesn't take us long when reaching the end of the city. We're out of it. We parked on the side road, waiting for Cha's coming. And seeing the Glass Jungle in its worst situation, I couldn't believe how we got through of it.
I chased my breath and took a deep breath, "hope she'll get out safe."
"She's a badass dude, she will," Al smirked.
"But look at this place, Al, it's like it his end."
"We always leave a place when it's in a bad situation."
It almost ten minutes but there was no presence of Cha. But I'm not gonna lose hope that we won't be seeing her, because I made a promise on her that we will help her.
Al places his hands on my shoulder, "if she took more than an hour, Dylan, I think we should go."
But I shook my head, disagreeing, "no, it doesn't have to be like that, she let us go, so the wild animals wouldn't follow us."
He shrugged off his shoulder.
And speaking of Cha, we heard an engine coming on our way. A truck came out of the fog and I couldn't help but smile seeing her okay.
"Are you guys okay?" she asked when she gets to our direction.
I nodded, "we are, thanks for the help."
"Now, do you believe you can trust me?" she said.
"We do." Al said, "and now, we're leaving the jungle."
"I'll follow you guys." She said.
We jumped back into the motorbike and started it. Before we go, we watched the Glass Jungle fall into pieces. We immediately took off before the fog comes to us. I couldn't believe how the place turns out, we got safe and we're leaving again.
"Now, what do we do?" Al asked.
"Now, we survive... again."
It is the only way to find seek what we deserve.
