"There is nothing more precious than water"
32|A THRONE FIT FOR A QUEEN
Ow! It is the word that Isolde used for three hours as the ocean nymph prepared her for the feast which she would rather not attend. During those three hours the Princess kept muttering and swearing to herself that she would not allow herself to be groomed in this manner unless it is for her own funeral. This she will write down. When she was younger and in the castle where she grew up she found it fairly easy to control the maids of what she wanted to be done to her. The hair could not be pushed backwards tightly for then it would hurt her and the corset (if she was forced to wear one) could not be too tight either as she did fancy breathing.
With Ahmeya she was barely even allowed to have much say in the matter. And angering the ocean nymph is not the thing that she wants. Isolde has seen her angered before and while she was not angry at her per se, but that did not mean that she would not snap at her for she did. When Ahmeya had gotten angry it was for something which Thomas had done, which Isolde was not allowed to know, she had snapped at the emerald eyed Princess in ways which no one has ever done.
Though Isolde will never admit it to herself nor others that she found a slight bit of respect and fear for the ocean nymph. It rarely happens that Isolde does have respect for others beside herself, and perhaps it was that which strengthened their friendship. Though, now that Isolde has survived those three hours she does look at herself in the looking glass with a smile on her face. She does like the way that she looks, and she is confident that a certain someone will not be able to look away from her.
Isolde is dressed in a simple pale lilac dress. It has off-shoulder sleeves that flow swiftly down her arms and open up into a cape sleeves by her wrists. The chest is covered in scattered jewels that illuminate flowing light, and the lower that is looked on the dress the more the jewels seem to cover as they are further between one another and fewer on the skirt itself. The skirt is flowing, and it allows her to move around without being limited, per her demand and she would tear the dress otherwise.
While the Princess did not have much to say she was still threatening Ahmeya with the fact that she will tear it off her body if she could not breathe, not caring for the fact that her body would be bare for the whole world to see. This, the ocean nymph did listen to, even when she did not want to. When Isolde threatens someone, it is better to listen to that threat for she means it, and she would do it all in a heartbeat. Even if that were her friends or family.
Her dark brown hair is in a braided bun on top of her head where the ombré affect of her lighter brown ends can be seen. Decorated in her bun are lilac pearls, matching the color of her dress. Isolde refused to carry any jewels around her neck and even when her friend had tried to argue with her and put it on she simply told her that those the jewels would end up on the bottom of some ravine where no one will find them. Ahmeya stands beside her and beams at the girl. "It has been so long since I have had the chance to do this" She speaks.
"You will simply have to find another and willing one to do it again. Or better yet not do it at all" Isolde speaks. Not making fun of her friend or trying to hurt her feelings but in the defense of her own feelings. It has never been what Isolde enjoys, admitting when she likes what others have done for her and appreciate it. Most around her are aware that her words often mean the opposite of what she thinks, not always though. The girl has strong opinions when it comes to everything and will speak them up no matter what.
There is very little that can hold her mouth shut when she wishes to speak. "Do you think people will like me?" She asks her as she turns her head to look at her friend. While Isolde is the one that would hold her head high and go through all without a care in the world, it does not mean that she's not terrified and now her heart races inside her chest like never before. If it were not for her ability to keep her own emotions hidden she would be all over the place.
Her hands are shaking, even when she hides it well. "I think they will. Not only are you the one that saved their lives, but you are the one that is destined to be the Queen. Besides, those who do not love you will eventually. I must admit that it had taken some time for me to become impressed with you the first time we met. You were afraid and lost, but then I saw the one that is on the inside, the one that you are. Show them who you are, and they will love you" The nymph says to her.
"I was not lost or afraid for that matter. I was simply just adjusting to this life. It is not every day that one sees a monster that is trying to kill them" She says. The girl beside her looks at her within sorrow which thankfully she does not seem to notice. It had not been a monster that Isolde had seen that day but an illusion. The guilt inside the ocean nymph grows as she is her friend but telling her about it would only hurt them and what the share.
The two of them have a friendship which is so strong and grows stronger with each passing day. Neither of them wish to lose that friendship. "I know that he will not be able to look away from you" Ahmeya is quick to say, to change the subject of something else. The others one laughs. "I do not care what he thinks of me or of my appearance. If he wants then he will have to like who I am inside. After all it was you who told me that I needed to be the one that I am inside. If he does not like that person then he's not the Demon that I thought him to be" She says.
Despite the fact that her heart has begun to change her opinion on him as her feelings grow, and he's not the Demon that she thought he was when they first met, she still does like to annoy him with the fact that he is still a Demon. "If he does not love the one that you are then I give you permission to do whatever you like with him" She tells the Princess who laughs. There are a couple of things that she would do to him if need be.
"Now, we should get going. If it has not already begun it will shortly, and we would not want the guest of honor to be late, now would be?" She asks her, giving her a smile as she has done perfectly with her appearance, but it is up to Isolde to make it all come together. "It would not be a disaster. People would talk and give me looks of dismay and think of me as the one that never wishes to show up but other than that it is all right" She answers, as if she were speaking from experience and knowing Isolde it is definitely what has happened in the past.
Does she care? Not a change. It does not matter to her what people think of her or what they have to say about her appearance for they do not know her. They are not aware of the one that she is and will not if they do not accept that she is not a higher being than them. Isolde might be a Princess, and she might be this Queen that they want her to be, but she is human, and she can break, and she can die, she has feelings, and she is not invincible.
In her childhood she saw how people forget how Royalty were human as well and that they have their problems such as pain and heartbreak, and they are able to break and die. People look up to them with so much that they cannot see that they are not Gods or Goddesses. They expect too much from them. Perhaps for they are the leaders that hold the kingdoms together or the fact that they wear clothing that commoners only dream of owning.
Isolde walks out of the room with her head held high and a small smile on her face. While she tried her hardest to distance herself from any social gatherings in the past she was taught on what she must do to act the part of a Princess. Much to her dismay she had to act like it, though as soon as word got out that she had a suitor waiting she would go back to being herself to drive them away with all that she had. Now, she wants to embrace this, without even knowing why.
As she walks the hallways her heart pounds faster inside her chest and if she were wearing a tighter corset than she is now then she would not have been able to breathe for even now she feels the air being taken away from her. As if it is being sucked out from her body. Her hands shake as she walks, but she holds them in front of her to keep them steady as well as herself. There is a strange feeling which she has never felt before that screams at her that she has to make a good first impression on her subject or on the beings that are there.
That if she is meant to rule them then they will have to like it. As she watches her parents being liked by all their subjects, and they thought they were the best King and Queen that the kingdom had ever had. Throughout her lessons Isolde can not recall having ever learned the secret to being a good leader or a Queen. Then again, she mostly did not pay that much attention to her lessons and if she did it was mostly because she had an idea on how to do the opposite of what she was told to do.
It was not until that she stood in front of the doors of the Throne room that she realized herself that she was terrified. It does not often happen to this girl that she admits that she's afraid, and normally she would be able to convince herself that she is not. This time, however she cannot. The emerald green-eyed girl does not even know why she does feel afraid to walk in there. She does look the part, but will she be able to act the part? In truth, she barely even knows how to be a Princess.
"I can do it" She whispers to herself as no one is around her, and then she walks to the door that open before her without her even touching them. The music is the first thing that greets her as soon as the doors open, but then the colors take over and then everything comes before her. Though as soon as the doors have opened the life that was in there slowly goes silent until all are staring at her and none speak nor move or make any sounds. Even the music has stopped playing.
It is as if the Throne room and all in it have been frozen in time. And if it were not for their blinking eyes then Isolde could have sworn that time had come to a full stop in front of her, and she would not be able to do anything about it. Like her mother had done when she enters a room, Isolde walks into the room and towards the Throne. Now there are two thrones there, one bigger than the other but equally as beautiful in her eyes. The girl does her best to ignore the stares as they follow her when she walks.
Her eyes do not see Thomas anywhere which does worry her for she does not know where he is, but then she reminds herself that she cannot depend on a man to be by her side when she needs someone, she will have to do it on her own. Once she has walked over to the two Thrones she sits down on the larger one and therefore claiming it as her own, knowing very well that the larger one is usually meant for the King, but she has never listened to rules before, and why should she now?
Being seated she looks around the room to see that there are many types of ocean creatures. Fish of all color and size and sort along with a couple of octopuses and other things which she would never be able to guess what is. There are also jellyfish around and mermaids as well. All of them stare at her as she sits there. She gives them as a smile as her eyes finally notice that Thomas is making his way over to her with his eyes only on the one that sits on the Throne.
Poseidon had seen her walk inside like all the others, and yet he found himself being unable to tear his eyes from her despite having seen her before. There was this beauty around her which glowed even brighter than the lights that decorate her gown and that beauty is one that lures him towards her. His body is not his own as all he wants is to be near her. Something about Isolde calls him to her, and he does not deny that he wants to be near her and close to her. Poseidon goes past many as he makes his way towards her.
When their eyes had finally met he found that her emerald green eyes were the only thing that he wanted to stare at for they were standing out in the right way. He had barely even taken notice to her attire as his eyes were only focused on her eyes. The way that they sparkled made him believe that he was dreaming, the beauty in her eyes is enough to enchant him in ways that he will never be able to explain. Though, none can know just how much he cares for this one girl.
He sits down beside her on the other Throne, not caring that she's seated in his own Throne which he has had for many eons. "Let the festivities begin!" He speaks to the crowd. Gesturing for the music to play and then people started to chat but this time it was about the girl sitting there and looking over at them. They spoke of her beauty and her leadership and her bravery for she had saved them. They spoke about her in many ways and every, so often they would look at her and admire the one that sits there.
"Has anyone told you that you look stunning?" He asks her and her head goes to the side and gives him a smirk. "Yes, indeed there have been many who claim me to be stunning" She speaks to him and gives him a grin. It is not her beauty that she wishes for him to be looking at but what is in her heart and what more he could have if only he were to look past beauty. Her response is one that the King has never gotten in his life and that says a lot for he is a man that has gotten everything and has been through all.
"Then I suppose I will just have to be written on that list" He says to her but yet again she smirks. "You have not even said it and yet you wish to be considered on a list which has not been written down" Isolde says to him. Shocking him even further. Isolde has never been like other women and if she were then she would not like the one that she is, but instead she is her own person. "I suppose I do... you do look beyond stunning" Poseidon says to her.
"I know that I do" She says. Making it hard to even smile at his words and there is even a hint of red in her cheeks which she does her hardest to cover up with a smile on her face. "But, I look stunning each day. I do not see why today is any different" She says, and he pales. The girl is truly trying to test him in every way. Poseidon does know that she looks like a Goddess every single day, but he has not told her that. Still, starting today he will remind her of it at least once a day.
"This is a lovely evening, do you not think?" She asks him with a small smile on her face, and she looks over the subjects. They are happy. The Princess sees that some of them are dancing along with the music that she has never heard before, but she has started to enjoy it. "It is. The only thing that would make it better as if you were to dance with me" He says and winks at her. Isolde rolls her eyes. "Is this your way of asking me?" She asks him.
Poseidon gives her a smile as he stands up and reaches his hand out. "Will you do me the honors of giving me this one dance?" He asks her. Isolde laughs as she takes his hand. "I suppose one dance has never harmed anyone" She says and stands up. Together the two of them walk to the dance floor. The creatures give the space and look at them, some even crying with joy to see the King and Queen so happy together. With smiles on their faces Poseidon and Isolde start dancing together in sync and without them knowing their hearts beat in sync as well.
