"The ocean can make quiet things heard"
17|CONFUSION MEETS ANGER
The calm and soft underwater waves move her dark hair in motion as she lies there on bed with covers over her body. Her fingers slightly twitch as she begins to stir in what looks like her peaceful slumber when in truth she did not sleep soundly. Memories which the girl would've rather had forgotten plague her mind and terrorize her in ways that none but herself can know. Her emerald green eyes softy open with confusion. What meets the eye are shimmering stars which she has never laid eyes upon before in her life and her memories are all over so she cannot understand what5 might possibly be happening.
Isolde's eyes do however begin to see clearly when staring up to see that it's a dark blue, darker than royal blue ceiling with what looks to be stars at first but are glowing jewels. When her body begins to move and she sits up she's met with a surprise of a lifetime. The Princess had been convinced for a small second that all that had taken place, from her running away to meeting Thomas had been nothing but a dream or rather a nightmare which she cannot throw from her mind.
She's in the oddest shaped bed that her eyes have her been witness to. Upon looking closer she notices that it's shaped like a seashell and her back is against the top. Fear rises within her that the shell could close at any second and her body would be defenseless. Isolde's body is weak without knowing why, lifting her hand up is even harder than she would've guessed and her stomach is in so much pain that even breathing is painful and it sends spikes of agony up her entire body which she has to bite down on her own tongue to stop herself from screaming out in pure pain.
Her body is under warm covers which are the oddest ones as they seem to made out of seaweed and yet they are the warmest thing that she has ever been under. Her eyes are looking around herself to see walls which are in this lovely shade of turquoise with the same blue as the ceiling patterns which look like waves yet she cannot be certain of it nor anything for that matter. Her mind is confused and the fear is settling inside her which doesn't seem to wish to leave her alone.
There is nothing else that her eyes sees but something floating around her. Other than her hair notices that there is something floating around her body, something glowing and something that resembles the diamonds on the ceiling at yet they are not the same. The glow is dimmer but and sadder for a reason she can't explain. Isolde stares at it for some time and yet she cannot make sense out of it. With a sigh escaping past her lips she moves on the bed but as she is sitting up the pain is almost too much to even be able to handle it for the girl.
Lying back down which is the only position that she can be without the ever pounding pain that is like hundreds of rocks are crushing her body. Breathing is hard for her but at the same time the air seems to have a mind on its own and welcomes itself into her lungs. The emerald eyed Princess can't seem to remember what had happened to her but still she can remember meeting all sorts of things such as an ocean nymph as well as Thomas and she walked into the ocean.
She can recall the beauty that she was met with and she can remember how her heart had been beating faster just by being near him yet after that she cannot recall anything else. As if her memories had been taken away from her which only adds to the fear that lives inside her. Still, the girl would never show anyone that she is terrified and neither would she ever admit it to anyone either. The more that her mind is running with thoughts the minutes pass by and are quick to turn into hours and during that time no sound other than what she makes she hears.
That is until the sound of a door opens that she nearly jumps up. Her heart beats faster within her chest as she can hear sounds but the pain inside her is preventing her to move. Also the fact that the covers are warm and comfortable and make her not want to move from the spot that she is in. The pillow that her head lies on is also the same seaweed as the cover but it's somehow softer and it feels like her head is flying when she lies on it.
In her panicked state Isolde closes her eyes and pretends to be asleep in hope that whoever is inside the room that she's in will leave her alone and doesn't hurt her. She can see very little either way because the edges of the shell are high and when lying down seeing what is happening on the other side is rather difficult. A shadow comes over her and without even looking and with her eyes closed she can feel their eyes on her without knowing who it is yet she can take a guess and it's not a pleasant one to her.
A low chuckle rings to her ears and makes her heart nearly skip a beat for it fills her up with something that remains unknown to her. "You do not fool anyone" A voice speaks and her guess of Thomas has reminded to be true as she hears his voice. His voice is one that comforts her and yet makes her wish to push him the furthest away from her. Her eyes open and stare deep into his eyes and for a moment she feels herself get lost until the brave Princess is able to tear her eyes away from his.
"There is not anyone here to fool. All I see is a fool himself in the flesh" She speaks with a bitter tone as she does not like that a man such as himself would enter a room were a maiden were sleeping as when he entered he had no clue that she was even awake at all. The sinful thoughts in his head is enough to make anyone loath him and especially when people will learn of her title. It is unthinkable that a much such as himself would do such a thing to a Princess.
He once again chuckles as he stares down at her while all Isolde can do is lie there and stare up at him, though she does avoid his eyes as she does not want to find herself lost again in his eyes. Which she is sure she would be able to get lost for all eternity which is not her wish at all, furthest from it in fact. "I'm quite certain I might be. However, would a fool care for your well-being?" He asks her with a smirk which makes it hard to not roll her eyes at his question.
"It depends on whom you ask" She tells him and he chuckles once again, the sound making her want to hold on to the sound and keep it with her forever. His head turns and looks around before he smirks at her. "I see none other there, I can only be asking you" He says. Isolde gives him a funny look and yet she wishes to attack him at the same time. "If that is the case then I do not wish to answer your question" She says to him when in truth she is only confused.
It does not make sense for a man that has only known her for a short time to care for her well-being, she also has no clue where she is or how she got there. The Princess is scared of what will happen to her from then on and is not sure how to act or be. The pain inside her body makes it hard to move and breathing is not as simple either and yet she feels breathing is like second nature to her, which also brings froth the confusion.
"How do you feel?" He asks her and she does give him a confused look. He certainly does look the part of a concerned man but she has lived long enough to know that men always have another motive to ask a woman if she is feeling well. She might not have experienced it herself but the maids and the guards certainly do have chats about things that never should be overheard by a Princess or anyone for that matter. "I'm feeling quite famished" She speaks to him, careful to not reveal how she feels pain running through her body. Isolde was not raised to show weakness and admit she is hurting is a sign of weakness.
If her mother would've seen her in the situation she has found herself in, she would shake her head and then give her a lecture about it later on in private and out of anyone's ear. "Food shall be brought to you" He tells her before closing his mouth, a clear sign that he had something else to say but chose not to voice out the thoughts that accord in his mind, making the poor girl curious about what he was going to express and he chuckles when he sees her face.
Poseidon cannot help but look at her face, she's playful to makes her fear yet he has lived long enough to know that she is afraid and to make matters even worse she is still hurting. The pain is visible in her eyes. He knew of course that she would be like this as she is still wounded. His eyes study her as she lies there, the brave girl that will soon rule by his side for all eternity. "Your confusion can be read on your face as if you were a book" He says and she scoffs at him.
"Do not compare me to dusty paper and century old ink that none wish to read yet are forced" She says, clearly offended which makes him back away from her a bit with his hands up in the air at the same height as his head is in. "Though I must say that I am filled with knowledge as a book yet I'm not one that can be set down on a shelf in an old library and forgotten about" She says to him as his gives him a slight glare which doesn't go past the King.
"You crave knowledge" He says after a moment or two has passed by them. His eyes had remained on her while she had been trying to figure out the floating glowing lights that surround her as well as the room that she is in. She then looks at him when he speaks and gives him a strange look. "Do not deny it. Humans such as yourself have always wanted to have knowledge by their sides to push away the unknown" He speaks and watches as she thinks of his words, clearly not truly knowing herself just how curious her nature truly was.
"Even if you say what is true, there is nothing wrong by knowledge. As pointless and disastrous books can be, I must admit that the world can be rather a curious being" Isolde admits, not sure why she had even spoken at all. His voice and his gaze somehow compel her to reveal what hides inside her soul and it makes her want to pour out all that is inside her heart without knowing why or how that is even possible, yet could be the work of the Devil as he has sent him to her to take her down below.
Perhaps she is already there and now he has come to torture her for all eternity yet she cannot help but feel that there is water all around her. She can feel it on her skin and she can see it with her eyes which does not match what Hell is supposed to be, it has always been described as the opposite of what she sees and feels now. While she should be feeling the endless suffering, she feels calmness and safety, despite her being in pain form her stomach but that she can already feel is going to wash away from her soon.
He chuckles at her. "Of course it is a thing that most should know and knowledge is what thrives humans. However, look too far and you might miss what is right in front of you" He tells her and perhaps these words have a hidden meaning as she can feel how his whole aura just saddens and everything around her grows a bit colder yet it could just be her. Without thinking Isolde lifts her arm and takes his hand into hers and holds it, until their eyes meet once again and stay like that in the silence.
Neither of them speak for a moment as their hand is holding each other, neither one of them even lets go as if they won't want to. Isolde's emerald green eyes are so lost in his eyes that she never wants to look away again. Thomas is the only one of the opposite gender that has ever hypnotized her in this manner and he has captured her attention, taken it away and locked away in a cage and yet she does not try to break free even if the doors of the cage are wide open.
As if she wants to be with him and no one is forcing her to do anything. She's choosing this all on her own which is another step back in her confusion as she does not seem to be waking forward anymore. She gulps when she feels the shivers run down her entire body as the hairs on her body are raising. His touch alone makes her heart beg to be near him without an explanation. He has a strange effect on her body which she has never had to feel and yet she doesn't it to leave her alone, she wants to hold on to it.
She takes a deep breath before opening her mouth. "When shall the food be brought to me?" She asks him as the red is starting to paint her cheeks as if she were a lovely painting that has not yet been finished. Poseidon can't help but let out a laugh as Isolde has always been the Princess who does tend to like eating when her mood is up. "Whenever you wish" He tells her and she removes her hand from his. "I cannot sit up" She tells him and he chuckles.
"Why ever did you not say so before?" He asks as he gently wraps his hands under her lower back, but is careful to not hurt her wound. Poseidon raises her up into a seating position and as his hands touch her skin he can feel how they send these shivers unending up and down her entire body. Which makes him smirk but chooses to hide that from her. Isolde doesn't feel any sort of pain at all when he lifts her which yet again is confusing to the girl as not long ago each Tim she moved it sent waves of pain throughout her whole existence.
She doesn't answer him and neither does she have any plans on doing so. "How did you do that?" She asks him. Isolde's eyes remain on him but far away from his eyes since she has already been a witness of his alluring and compiling that they might one day become so dangerous that she will not be able to save herself from them and she will be lost forever, with no way of escaping. "Do what?" He asks her smirking but doesn't miss the glare that she sends his way or rather throwing at him.
"You are fully aware of what I ask of and I wish for an answer" Isolde speaks, her voice does not sound like she is happy. In fact the girl is starting to become rather frustrated that he is constantly withholding information from her and acts like a fool whenever she brings a question up. "I do. Yet it does not mean that your wish is my command. The last time I saw you did not want your title. You wanted to be an ordinary girl and as such you cannot order me nor anyone around" He tells her.
His words are what make her already angry state angrier so she glares daggers into is skull and throws the only thing that she had her hands on. The pillow that was on her side. She throws it at him but Thomas is much quicker and catches it like if it were nothing. He did not flinch nor did he seems scared at it. Then again she had thrown something that is most likely the softest thing in the world so there was truly no reason to be scared of a simple pillow and besides Poseidon is a being that has existed for a long time and he's immortal so a pillow does not scare a being like him.
"I would certainly feel sympathy for the army that you would control if you would be a sovereign" He speaks to her and smirks as he adds a chuckle as he just can't help himself but that only makes her angrier than she has been but before she could throw something else, per se the covers he puts the pillow on the bed and goes out of the room and closes the door. The smirk on his face when he can feel how practically raging with anger she is at him.
Poseidon goes down the hallways but the smirk remains on his face. He does like her much better when she is awake but her attitude and her temper does seem to challenge him in every shape or form and yet it makes his life much more interesting. Isolde does test him in everything and in every way that she knows how and he has a good feeling about the future but if only he had been aware of the thing that were about to happen when their lives were about to take a dark turn.
