"Do not fear the waves for they are the breath of life"

15|SOME MEMORIES CANNOT BE FORGOTTEN

"A King does not bow before his subject. Rather the subjects bow before the King" The famous words which Isolde's father often said and there does not come a surprise that in her childhood she used that sentence. Never knowing that the Queen and the King's own children are also his subjects which means that they bow before him. The first time that Isolde was forced to bow down before her own father will forever remain a horrid day. Not only was a storm raging outside the castle but there were also rumors about a scandal in the castle, involving the Royal family themselves.

The Princess was barely five years old when guards had walked into her bedroom, forcefully taken her out of her bed and into the hallways. She can still remember the fear that went through her body as she was thrown into the Throne room and forced to kneel before her father. The pain still present inside her mind as she landed on the stone ground. As soon as her head had looked up from the ground, the first thing she saw was her father. He was angry. Isolde has always been a smart child and even smarter with the years that grew by and she knew that when her father was angry, it was best to stay away.

Yet that day she could not stay away. Her father had ordered all but her to leave the Throne room so as she stood up from the ground and stared at her father, the fear still visible from her eyes she did not know what was about to happen. The fear is the only thing that kept her from doing anything wicked as she was known to do. Isolde's pale green eyes stare at her father as he sits on his Throne. She cannot remember what went through her head but she must have wondered where her mother and older sister were.

The little girl's fear is what has stayed with her throughout the years. While she loves her father and she knows that he loves her, there has always been this fear of him which she cannot seem to shake off. That day he stared at her from his Throne for what felt like hours until he clears his throat. Sending her gaze which had fallen to the walls, on him. "Do you know why you have been called here?" He asks her. Even after all those years the Princess can still recall the words that he had spoken, each and every word.

Never had Isolde been taken out of her room like the way that she was and brought to her father. He had always requested for her if he needed her which wasn't that very often, and even if it did, she would be with her mother and Elizabeth. And even then it would be not on a time that the girl would be recovering from illness which she had been fighting during the past week. Her nightgown hanging from her body and her face still sickly pale despite her in perfect health now but the illness had taken a lot from her body and she needed to rest.

Isolde shook her head at her father's question but as soon as she had done so the regret takes a hold on her. "No, father. I do not know why" She speaks. Knowing that a lady should always answer when spoken to. Isolde can remember that she hated those rules, even when she grew up. The hatred for the way that she was supposed to act remained and everyone knew about it, though she did not exactly hide it either.

"Leave!" He then yells at her. His words echoing inside the Throne room as if it were an object that bounces from one wall over to the next and to the floor and the ceiling and just about everyone, even inside her head and his voice would remain in her memory. The girl had been terrified and as she had run out of the Throne room, nearly falling while doing so and going back to her room, she found herself scared of falling asleep in the evening. Isolde never found out what her father had wanted that day but that day would always be alive inside her memories.

She was forced to kneel before her father for a reason that she did not know but she never asked why he did it and she never told anyone about it either. It seems that even her own mother had no clue about what happened and even if she did, she did not say anything. Her mother had stayed with her nearly every moment of her illness, not caring that she could get sick too. The Queen stayed with her youngest child as much as she did and prayed every single day for her little girl.

Some had believed that Isolde was dying and that her body was so young to fight the illness which had struck her, even the healers which came from across the kingdom had told the King and Queen that she was dying but after two weeks of being stuck in bed, on the verge of death she started to get better. Her heart beat fast and strong and in a week she was back to the one that she once was. Many believed it to be a miracle.

That God had blessed her for He does favor Royals better for he has a plan for them. He always has a plan for those of Royal birth for He is the one that put them on the earth and He is the one that chose their destinies. It was celebrated that Isolde was still alive and was as healthy as ever. Still Isolde could never remember the two weeks during her illness and she can barely remember the week she was recovering for but she can remember what had happened with her father in the Throne room that day.

And now as Isolde lies on a bed with a healer tending to her, knowing that she is on the verge of death. Her unconscious state does not help as the people of Poseidon's kingdom have started to pray for her to live. She is their rightful Queen and they pray that this will not take her away from them before she even has the chance to actually become the Queen of the ocean and rule with their King like she is meant to. They pray for a miracle but one can only have so many miracles in one's life.

Perhaps God only intended for her to live that time and she did not have another miracle from Him but one never knows. Isolde's body is starting to grow colder and colder despite the warmth in the water around her which should warm her up yet her body doesn't seem to want to accept the warmth. Her skin is becoming so pale and so sickly looking as she is slowly and painfully dying right there with only one person who can save her. The Princess' life is in his hands alone, whether she lives or she dies. It all falls down to Poseidon.

When Isolde had been ten years old she learned that not all men are what she thought they were. Of course the girl knew about how terrified her father could become at times but he was the King and her scholars as well as her mother had told her that being King is hard for him and often anger and cruelty is the way that he lets out what is inside. Still, Isolde can remember the time that she was nearly taken advantage of at only ten years of age, too young to know what was about to happen.

It was an ordinary for her. The Princess had woken up and she had been bathed and dressed before she had walked with Elizabeth to breakfast. The two of them held each other's hand which was not uncommon for them to do when they were on good terms with one another. People would actually look forward to seeing them holding hand for it meant that there was nothing wicked going to happen and nor plots of pranks swirling in Isolde's mind, and they would often sigh in relief when they were happy together.

Though this morning they walked hand in hand and once they entered the dining room they greeted their parents. Isolde can't remember what was said during breakfast nor can she remember what food they eat. Her memory doesn't pick up on what kind of weather it was outside but neither were children her age thinking of the weather, especially a Princess when she is supposed to attend many lessons with her scholars and it is highly unlikely that she will even be able to attend the outdoor during that time. All the girl can remember is how happy she was at that table.

She doesn't know why or what had made her happy but the smile on her face is still present in her memory. A smile that would soon be wiped off in matter of hours and that smile would not see the light of day for some time. Despite not being the Crown-Princess, Isolde's life was always in danger and it was not uncommon for her to be escorted into another room filled with guards for her protection. It did not happen often but it did sometimes take place. She rarely stayed there for long, at most a couple of hours.

During that time some of the guards would play with her games and such, sometimes she would be taught how to hold a weapon to protect herself against harm. But other times she was as bored as ever and longed to play and have fun. The dark brown haired Princess has never been known to be patient and she is not one that likes to be confined in one place for long, though she could not fight when her life was in danger and she could not argue with guards which she held respect for, though never would she say those words out loud.

That day she and Elizabeth had been separated during some sort of danger, she did not know what was happening and like always she did not ask. When she came into some room with guards inside it too, four of them inside with her and two standing outside to guard the room. The room that was chosen is one that doesn't have any windows which she hated. Isolde hated not being able to see the world before her and she hated that she was stuck somewhere when all she wanted was to be outside and free.

Still even as a child she knew that she was not meant to be free, though that did not stop her from trying. Isolde had been in the room bored out of her mind for some minutes. She can't remember what she had done during those minutes as she can only remember what happened after those minutes passed. The pale green-eyed Princess was only a child when she was pushed against the bed which was there in the room. She can remember how she screamed and screamed but no one came for her. The guards did not take her virtue that dreadful day but they held her down and did other things to her.

Her tears and cries meant nothing to them as they did what they wanted. The terror inside her left her shaking and she was barely sure what was happening. All she knew is that they could not do such a thing to her. As a child she was innocent but she had read and been taught how wars can be bloody and that the world is cruel and it is wicked and evil. Her screams are the things that her memory can recall the best of all and never will she forget them.

By the time that the guards that were outside had broken the door to come to her rescue she was already a crying mess. Her body covered with filth from those men but she was still filly dressed. More guards come inside the room and the four were arrested. Isolde doesn't remember what happened after that, her memory is more foggy than when mist hangs in the air during autumn. All she can recall is how she had woken up in her mother's arms, crying and shaking from fear with memories that would haunt her for a long time.

She had woken up but her mother was asleep. When looking outside the window she saw how the darkness was around and it lurked everywhere. The moon wasn't there but the stars were. Isolde had stood up from the bed and walks over to the window. Something in her had changed, she could feel it. She didn't know if it was the fear inside her or what had happened but something was different around her. Almost crying again but holds the tears back she walks out of her room, avoiding any guard as if they were the plaque that had struck the world two years before her tenth birthday.

The guards thankfully stayed away from her, perhaps they had been ordered to or perhaps they did it to not scare the Princess as much but they did it and she was thankful for it. Isolde didn't know why she was in the hallways that night nor does she know after all those years what drove her to go to the Throne room but it felt like someone was holding her hand and walking her down there yet there was no one with her.

She reached the Throne room and slightly opened the doors and walked inside without anyone noticing that she was there and even if someone had seen her, they pretended like they did not. There on the Throne was her father, sitting there like he always did and his angry look did not shock her that much as she had grown used to it. The girl doesn't know why she had stood there and watched as the four guards were escorted inside in chains nor does she know why she stayed to listen as her father yelled at them for what they had done.

Her memory never fails to recall the words that her father had spoken but only those words, the rest falls into oblivion and is forever lost in her childhood memories. "-I hereby sentence you to death!" Her father had said. She can remember how she gulped and backed against a wall as the four men were taken away and she never saw them again in her life. At the time she did not know why they were executed but later when she grew older she found out what the real reason for it was.

It was not what they had done to her or what they were about to do to her. It was how they could've destroyed any change of her marrying in the future. Without her virtue, not many men would want her and she would be without a husband for a long time. As a Princess her father could not allow this to happen and he would not allow his daughter to never have a chance to marry. She also found out that her father did it because someone had tried to hurt her and Hell would reign on earth if anyone would hurt one of his children.

Though all her life she always knew that her father did love her and he cared for her, but he only showed it through his actions if one were to look closer. That night Isolde had gone back to the room where her mother still slept and she crept into her arms again and closed her eyes. Using her mother's heartbeat to lull her to sleep and keep the nightmares away, the nightmares that would try to strike at her. Yet at the time what the girl had no idea about is how the nightmares never came for her was because someone kept them away.

She had never known and if he had his way she would never know that while she slept he used magic to make sure that the darkness would not taint her. Poseidon was furious when he learned about what had happened to her and he was not there to protect her from all harm, and the ocean's showed it clearly. It had rained in days and the waves were restless. No mercy was showed to anyone nor anything, his anger knew no bounds as she was not shown mercy so no one would be shown it.

After that he made sure that he watched her from afar, sometimes from some water source but when she was not near one he could use water to become a person that was there. Sometimes he would just be water itself and no one would see him for the light makes the illusion that he's not there at all but sometimes he was able to use the water to be a person that people can see and speak to. Water is the essence of life and he can create life using water and he can use water to take a life.

Poseidon made sure that he watched over her and with every year she become bolder with her pranks, knowing the power she actually had and she used it against so many. He would watch as she would do something wicked yet never quiet evil. Though there are some that would say she is ruthless but he would argue in that, Isolde is wise beyond her years and even when her mouth speaks before her head has the time to think it through, she is better than all of them. At least according to Poseidon.

Even now she is better than everyone else for she has survived the longest with that poison in her system which is killing her and as Poseidon is in front of a cave where he will soon get the antidote to save her, he knows that she will survive this. There is after all a reason for why she was chosen to be the one that was destined to stay on the Throne beside him and rule as the Queen. Poseidon knew she was strong and he knows that she will fight this with everything she can, and he will be there with her, fighting.
