"The ocean is our savior"

58|THE HAUNTING PAST

The girl slowly is losing consciousness quicker than her savior can come, if he will come for her. Isolde does not know if he will be able to find her and get to her in time before her life will fade away from her. She lets out a shaky breath as she forces her eyes to stay open. Not it would do her much good for her vision is pitch black either way. Without knowing that a dark sand creature has spotted her and is headed towards her. With the only intention of ending her life here and there where she sits.

If the cold does it not, then the creature will. Isolde's body is far too weak from the cold and the exhaustion is heavy on her, she would never be able to defend herself. Within her mind, she prays to everything that she knows that the man that she loves will find her. For Isolde's whole life, all she has had to depend on is herself. Now, she does not any more. She has someone else that she can put some of her darkness on, and in return he will protect her from that very darkness and she shall protect him with all her might.

Noticing this movement down the hallway, the girl gasps. The darkness hides much, but within that darkness, she can see this slightest bit of movement. Far too much to be just her dying imagination. Isolde's body forces her to use the wall behind her to lift herself up. That movement can only mean death and she will fight to the very end if she has to. She lets out a hiss from the cold and the intense pain hat runs through her. Cursing at her human body and cursing him for being so late and not there already.

"Attacking an unarmed woman in the darkness, such cowardice" She speaks through her cold. Her body is shaking from the freezing cold that has taken over her. Footsteps she can hear, and movement her eyes have spotted. How long until the silent predator will reach her, she will not know until it is too late. Isolde's hands hold nothing to defend herself but herself, and she will use that until she falls down to her knees and takes her last breath. Her body is a weapon that she has trained to use since she was a young child.

The creatures does not speak nor do anything but walk towards her with a sword, prepared to stab her and end her life. For the second time, these sand creatures will take her life in the same way. The pale green eyed girl may not know what had happened before, and she may not know that she had died by the hands of those creatures but she is willing to fight with all that she has. Despite the cold that has sunk its claws inside her body and refuses to let her go for anything, she will fight.

Then, her eyes see it. The darkness might be around her but she sees that creature as plain as day. The dark creature may use the dark to shield itself form he vision, but she sees it. She sees a sword that is raised. The creature however stops at her body and stands there. Confused, Isolde looks at the creature that appears to be frozen in its spot. Her weak body stands there shocked. "No bravery, of course, I knew that. You cannot kill me" She speaks. Not certain herself why she is not dead on the ground by the hands of the creature in front of her that has stopped.

"Such an awful position, if you kill an unarmed woman, you are nothing but a coward. Not harming me will land you the same spot. I suppose you will never win either way" She spits out of herself. Her breath shakes as she speaks and her voice is filled with this shakiness which makes her sound weaker than she actually is. The creature stands there and shows no signs as if it appears to want to attack her, does not appear to be doing anything at all for that matter.

Even trough the ever blinding darkness of this hallway and through the cold, Isolde is able to see that it does not move at all. There are no signs that this creature is actually alive, if it was ever alive in the first place. It did appear alive when it was walking towards her. The fear inside her, she has already pushed so far deep inside her that it won't touch her. Soon, that fear will come for her. Taking a deep breath, Isolde takes a step towards the creature. A massive pain shoots up her entire body from the cold and the numbness inside her legs and feet.

Standing in front of that creature Isolde eyes it carefully. Her eyes may have adjusted to this pitch blackness but even she cannot see well in the dark. The creature stands there frozen. Slowly she reaches her hand out to touch it. Something that might get her killed and this she knows and does not care for. She is dying either way and it appears that the man she loves is taking his time to get to her which really makes her want to kick him even more when he does come for her.

Her eyes stare at that creature, trying to understand why it simply stands there. Why she is not dead already from being stabbed with that sword that is clearly raised and prepared to end her life. Then she sees. The subtle reason for why the creature could not kill her. The answer had been right in front of her the entire time. The creature is not just frozen in its spot, father creature is actually frozen. The sandy creature has been frozen solid by the cold air around its, around the two of them. In pure horror, Isolde can only stare at the ice statue that is in front of her.

The ice had done in seconds what it will soon do to her in matter of hours. It frightens her deeply that soon she will end up like that creature. Frozen in her spot, frozen to the core where she will die a horrible, agonizing death. The fear that Isolde had buried within her is finally waking up, showing itself and she realizes that there is no escape. She had felt the contact between Poseidon and her, and yet he is not there. Should he not be able to use his magical properties to find her.

He is a being that should be able to do it in matter of seconds and yet minutes and perhaps hours have passed by since she was able to create that contact with him. She will not be able to do it again. Slowly, she slides down to the ground by the wall. Having little to no energy to even stand in her own two feet. She will become a block of ice within this abandoned castle, she will never se the light of day nor light at all.

The girl refuses to cry once more, she fears that she won't be able to stop herself if she were to cry. She has already become weak once this day, she will not do it again. She can be stronger than this, she is much stronger than this. Yet, here she sits on the frozen ground, waiting for her own death. There is nothing that she can do. She does not feel like the Queen that she had felt like when she split apart the ocean and saved her sister's ship, when she had banished a forest down to the bottom of the ocean and destroyed their enemy by doing so.

Isolde sits there and tries her hardest not to cry, breaking down once more will do her no good. She is dying and she will just have to accept that. There is nothing that she nor anyone is able to do at this point. If he does not come soon, she will lose her life. Unknowingly that she will lose it for the second time and this time, she will not come back from the dead as she had done before. Her eyes slowly begin to close from the tired feeling which is taking over her.

Keeping herself away, shaking, cold and in pain, Isolde still holds onto hope that he will come for her and take her away and towards a warm place, perhaps just his arms which she knows are enough to warm not only her body but her beating heart as well. She lets out a breath before her body is taken by the darkness, and she closes her eyes and welcomes it to take her away. Isolde may just well have just lost this battle with death itself, as have so many others before her.

Within the darkness, a woman walks into the castle of the land of the Forgotten. The woman wearing a cloak and a hood over her head that shields her identity from the world. Her eyes she can see in the darkness as she goes the hallways. Past the sand creatures that have all frozen from the coldness which flows through the castle hallways with the intent on keeping intruders out. Luna may or may not have made it certain that anyone she does not authorize to be there, and those creatures as well as Isolde are not supposed to be there.

The woman though, does not seem affected by the cold at all. She walks down the hallways, knowing where to go. The icy layer that has formed a slippery surface of the floor does not bother her. The hooded woman walks as if she knows where to go. Until she has reached Isolde who lies there unconscious on the ground beside that sandy creature, Isolde's chest still moving up and down which shows she still lives. Upon her lips there is a smirk when she sees the girl lying there knowing she is nearing death itself but not quite.

Behind the woman a man walks as well. Holding against the walls to not fall, for he shares no luxury of having been able to walk on that icy floor without slipping. "You did all of this, to get this girl that would have been simply from the beginning" He speaks to the woman who only chuckle. "Fear not, the fun is just about to begin. Why not have the girl suffer? As well as him. The ocean is falling and rightfully so. It is what they deserve" The woman tells the man who smirks at the thought of both Poseidon and Isolde suffering.

The man, Dimitri, eyes the girl that sits there. When only some days ago he had been her prisoner. He's seen her do incredible things and yet like all women, she fell. "Take her. There is much more suffering to be done, and the so called King of the ocean is about to get a visit" The woman orders him. Dimitri sharply nods before he bends down and picks the girl up. Her body being a lot lighter than he had thought she would be, but it works for him either way. "Now, shall we leave this nightmare?" She asks.

"With pleasure" He tells her and then the two of them walk down the hallways and out of the castle itself. Dimitri, almost fallen down with Isolde in his arms a couple of times, yet manages to keep himself standing and walking. The woman always walks ahead of him and never sees it, though she knows of it and smirks each time he nearly falls down. She preys on the suffering of others, after all the suffering that has been done to her. And she has suffered in the hands of the King of the ocean himself.

They walk towards a portal which is near the castle and then they enter the portal with the unconscious girl with them, traveling to a world that is familiar to her. The ocean itself. And yet, Poseidon will never know nor feel her existence within his own territory. The woman's sorcery keeps him from finding her and she keeps him from finding the girl she has just kidnapped and taken with her into a cave that is within the ocean itself. Never knowing that when they entered through that portal, another portal opened on the other side of the castle where the same King of the ocean walks through.

Poseidon had felt her call, the call for him to be there for her. Isolde's life force, he had felt within himself and he knew that she was alive. Somewhere in this wasteland of a kingdom (Queendom) the girl he loves is alive. That the King knows. He had felt her and her life force more than he could ever say in words. That glimmer of hope that he had felt when he felt her, nearly heard her voice, he knew within his entire existence that it had been her.

Through the darkness, the King of the ocean can see. The benefits of being the brother of the girl who owns this place, is having sight in the darkness. Though, sometimes the dark can do its best to catch him but even the darkness cannot touch him. At least not when this King is on a mission to find his Queen and most definitely her anger which she will take out on him. Poseidon will gladly take her anger if it means that she is alive and there with him, he would listen to her scream at him in pure anger if it meant that she is there.

Poseidon walks inside the castle, the cold chill ness still is there. The cold neither touches him nor tries to. He sucks in a breath as the last time he had been there, he walked those very hallways. It had been ten thousand years ago when he and his other three brothers had come together for the first time in the existence of universe, and they used their combined power to banish their sister to her prison where they would not see her for another ten thousand years. Walking these hallways reminds him of what he had done to her.

The four brothers never should have banished her, but they were forced to. They did not have a choice in the matter. It was either banish their sister or allow the entire world to fall and their own worlds, their kingdom. He touches the walls that are cold as ice, yet he does not feel the cold. Only the memories of that day when it all came down. Poseidon can still remember his way around the castle, he knows where all the hallways lead. What he doesn't know is all the dark shadow places where Luna loves hiding and lurking.

A sigh leaves his lips when he walks down a hallway and notices a creature which is personally responsible for the death of his fallen subjects and possibly the death of the love of his life. If that creature is walking and is frozen solid in the castle with a sword, there can only be one reason or it. Isolde is somewhere around there. The hope grows even more and yet the fear rises within him as well. He starts running past all the frozen creatures that stand there like status, blending into their surroundings.

All of them are headed into the same directions that shows she must have been there. The cold may not touch him, but Isolde is also human as well as a celestial being and without the ocean's protection, the cold will find her and it can become dangerous for her. Even it can take her life. Humans are sensitive to snow, ice and the cold. The further down the hallways that he runs, the more danger he senses. The cold is much more and it contienes to rise the further day that he does. The temperature would be far too dangerous for her to survive in.

The only thing that the ocean blue eyed King can do is hope that Isolde has made it through this cold, and she will be waiting for him wherever she is. The hallways are designed to confuse, the girl, his sister enjoys creating chaos and having people almost go mad by walking these hallways. Which is why these sand creatures had a hard time finding their way around as well, and finding a single girl in this castle would be the hardest task. The castle it itself may appear to be smaller than it actually is.

Darkness is the best at hiding secrets and there lurks a great many things, the castle is the source of all darkness. With Luna as the creator and the one that drives the place itself, her life force is the reason for this place to exist at all. Poseidon, however, is in the same satiation as the creatures, he cannot find her. The King may not be frozen solid into a statue, nor cold from the freezing air, but he is running out of time to save the girl he loves from that same cold.

Then when he sees it, he freezes as well. His body may not be affected by the cold, but it has frozen because of the shock. Right in front of him, once he has turned a corner. He notices a sand creature that is not walking or frozen in a walking position. Rather it has its sword in the air, prepared to strike at its prey. And even those that are not clever would know the creature would only strike at one in this place. That that same girl is the one Poseidon is desperate to find around there.

He cannot sense her, but he would not be able to unless he were in the ocean. It isn't the creature that has him in shock, and it isn't the fact that she is missing. Though, that is one of the reason. The whole reason is because on the wall, is a mark that he has not seen in eons and it has him in shock. All of the things that have happened have started to make sense to him. Poseidon can see who has been behind all of this, and who is the one that wishes to take down the ocean and him. That same one has his Queen. "Medusa" He curses.
