Who knew alleys were bad

Maddie's POV
I had parked the bike in the alley next to Bengal's Bagels. My shift started at noon and ended at eight tonight so I had time to kill until then. I checked my phone for a second before I looked at the school across the street. I only had four hours and that would mean I got out of school at eleven thirty. Deciding that Chad would be called if I didn't show up, I grunted pulling my bag further up my shoulder.
Kids in perky uniforms started giving me weird looks as I walked up to the school. I hadn't bothered dressing in the dress code since it was a stupid idea in the first place.
"And you are" A tall skinny lady with narrow eyes and thick rimmed glasses stepped in front of me.
Clicking her pen on the clipboard she stared me up and down.
"Maddie Anderson" I shifted one side to the other.
"Is this your first day Maddie" She raised her eyebrow to the middle of her flat forehead.
"Yes"
"Yes ma'am. Respect the people who work her Ms. Anderson" Her tone was sharp and harsh.
"Hey Mrs. Open" a tall boy with a weird accent stepped forward. "New student?"
"Ah Milo" Her voice then was soft and spoke directly to him. "Yes could you show Maddie Anderson around the school?"
My class slip was handed to me from the clipboard with a cheesy smile.
"Hey" I looked away from him.
I waited a few minutes for a response before looking at him
"Excuse me"
"Hm?" he was looking at me. "What?"
"I said hi to you dummy" I grunted before leaving him there.
School was boring as it always was. The fourth bell rang as I darted across the street to the bagel shop. Throwing on my apron, my manager started to laugh.
"Can you lock up tonight Mad?" His voice was cracking and he reeked of smoke.
"Of course Vince" His girlfriend had dumped him I guessed from how he looked.
The store officially was empty at eight twenty so I locked up early draping my now floured apron across the counter. Locking the front door I went out the back way.
"Look at this pretty thing"
Husky words filled the alley as two huge men entered. Drunken men in an alley meant danger. I searched my pocket for my phone realizing it was in the backpack.
"Yah she and the bike" One licked their dry lips revealing uneven yellow teeth.
Cursing under my breath I back towards the door to find myself locked out and confronted my two men bigger than me.
One reached for my hand before I punch the wrong one in the jaw. Wrong mistake as I found myself punch in the side of the head off the steps. Blood filled my mouth and my vision was becoming hazy and the one I punched ran over kicking me hard in the stomach.
"You little brat" blood seeped from my mouth mixing with the dirt and gravel from the alley floor.
Bright car lights appeared in the alley before my vision became even worse.
"Maddie!"
Then everything went black.
