Chapter-20

Today was Monday. But it wasn't like a typical school day, it was graduation. Last day of high school. I got up early in the morning and got ready for the big day.

I wore a white, cotton sundress. It was knee length. On top of the dress, I wore my navy blue graduation gown and cap.

Today was a big day, I have made so many memories in this school. Ah, I can't believe that it's over. I'll miss every experience I've had there.

Although I hated it sometimes, I mean majority of the time but, I'm still "attached" to it you know. I'm happy and a little sad at the same time. I mean I can't believe that it has come to an end.

I met different types of people who changed my life in some way and I might've touched their lives in some way too. I got betrayed by some people and welcomed by the others. I might have found love and a couple of real friends that will be there for me no matter what.

I'll miss attending Miss Anderson's class, I'll miss her lectures and her advice. Emma my biology partner, who is finally in a relationship with Jace, is one of the kindest person I've ever met.

God, this nostalgic feeling, all these beautiful memories and all of the experiences that I had in high school will remain with me in my heart forever.

I should probably stop thinking or I'll get emotional.

I went downstairs in the living area, Grandma and Grandpa were already ready.

Grandma was wearing a long plain, full sleeve and navy blue coloured maxi dress. She wore very light make-up with almost no accessories. She has more of a classic and elegant style.

Grandpa on the other hand wore a white button down shirt, on top of it he wore a tight fit navy blue sweater and grey chinos.

Both of their outfits matched with my graduation gown.

"Oh, our little girl has her graduation today. But she's still a baby!" Grandma hugged me.

"I'm a grown up now!" I smiled.

"You think." Grandma made a sarcastic remark, "When was the last time you did your laundry and cleaned your room without me asking you to do it, like a hundred times." She laughed and so did grandpa.

"Yeah yeah."

"Okay let's take a picture before leaving." Grandpa suggested.

"Okay!" I smiled.

He took out his phone and clicked my picture.

"Okay now your turn to pose grandma and grandpa!" I took the phone from Grandpa.

"But we're old also, you're the one who's graduating." Grandma complained, well she has never been the photogenic one but I won't take no for an answer.

"Come on, you know we'll get late. Now pose." I commanded.

Grandma and grandpa posed together, I took a couple of their shots and then a group selfie.

"Okay, let's go now!" Grandpa said.

"Wait, is dad coming?" I asked.

"You told me that he would." I added.

"Um-" Grandma started. "Something came up, so he won't be able to make it." She looked at me with concern, she obviously didn't want to upset me.

"Oh, okay.. Let's go then."

The driver was already inside the car, waiting for us. Grandpa sat in the front, me and grandma sat on the backseat. Now, we were on our way to my school.

It didn't matter if dad came or not, it really doesn't affect me. He never shows up for this stuff, he has barely attended three of my parent teacher conferences... What can I expect? In fact, I stopped expecting anything from him a long time ago.

"Oh my God, we're here! I'm so excited!" Grandma smiled.

"Where is the ceremony taking place?" Grandpa asked.

"Well, it's taking place in the auditorium." I replied.

Once the driver parked the car, all three of us got out of the car and headed towards the auditorium.

Upon entering the auditorium, on the right side was the stage and on the left were the seats. The auditorium was extremely huge and the seating number was high too. A lot of people had started to come.

"Grandma and Grandpa, I have to go backstage now. You guys can sit on the empty seats." They nodded and I made my way backstage.

"Hey!" Claire hugged me.

"Hi!" I hugged her back.

"This day is finally here, I'm gonna miss high school." Her eyes were filled with tears.

"Oh, don't be sad. You don't want to ruin your makeup." I made her laugh.

"Yeah, you're right." She wiped off her tears, carefully using tissue paper.

"Hey girls!" We hear a voice behind us.

We turned around to find a guy with raven black hair and dark brown eyes. He looked like he worked out. I have never met him before.

"How's it going? Are you both excited?" He asked.

"Hey, Ryan! Meet Katelyn." Claire gave him a side hug.

"Oh, you're Katelyn!" He beamed. I have never seen someone so happy after hearing my name.

"Yeah." I smiled.

"I've heard so much about you. You're the one who has made our boy, Ryder, a lovesick puppy. Man, he never shuts up about you." Ryan laughed.

Oh, he's Ryder's friend and what did he say? He can't shut up about me. That's...good? I smiled to myself.

"Ryan's taking me to prom, he's my prom date." Claire smiled.

"Yes, I am!" Ryan bowed.

"Hey man! I've been looking all around for you." said a guy with dark brown hair and eyes. He was tall and slender.

"Hey bro!" They shook hands.

"Meet Katelyn!" Ryan pointed at me.

He turned around to look at me.

"Oh the hot-" He was about to say something but he was interrupted by Ryder.

"Yeah the girl I was talking about, Katelyn." Ryder came out of nowhere and punched his shoulder, in a friendly way though.

"Nice to meet you!" I smiled at the guy.

"Josh." He beamed.

"You already know me." I smiled.

Ryder came to me and wrapped his arm around my waist.

"Nervous?" He whispered in my ear.

"Excited!" I smiled and he smiled back.

"So, I was thinking if we could catch up for a movie for our second date?" He asked.

"Okay, movie at my place then." I smiled at him.

"Do you guys mind if we tag along? We can call it a triple date! Me, Ryan, Nicole, Josh and you both" Claire beamed.

"Sounds like a plan." Josh smirked.

"No way that's happening." Ryder glared at Josh.

"Why not? It's Katelyn's place, ask her!" Claire pouted.

Well, it'll be rude if I don't invite them. Also, if I invite them I'll get to know Ryder's friends better. I mean he knows mine so I should know his friends too.

"Okay, my house tomorrow. At six in the evening then!" I smiled.

"I already like her." Ryan smiled.

"So do I!" Josh laughed.

We all were joined by Nicole later. We were just standing and talking. I looked at Ryder, he was a bit off about something. Most probably the group date

"Are you mad at me?" I turned towards him. "Trust me it'll be fun! We all can hang out together and get to know each other." I gave him one of my brightest smiles.

"I was mad at you... a little. But then you smiled." He put his thumb on my chin and smiled.

"Geez, we're in public." Claire teased.

"Well, we don't care." Ryder turned my back towards his chest, tightly grabbed my waist with his hands and kissed my neck.

"God! Get a room!" Josh smirked.

This is awkward. But never mind, I like it. I kissed Ryder on the cheek.

"You too?!" Nicole laughed.

I really wish that we could get past this kissing on cheek phase. I mean the guy has kissed me on my forehead, my cheek and now my neck. But he is hesitant to do that on my lips.
