The Great Prophecy

Trigger warning, there is a panic attack and mental and physical abuse.

At the campfire I sat next to Jason with Annabeth and made eye contact with Leo from across the fire. He wiggled his eyebrows at me and I giggled, blushing as my crush smirked at me and continued to make stupid faces.

Everyone was singing along to some song about a grandma and her armor but I didn't join in. Something told me bad things would happen if I sung.

The bright flames became an array of colors, ranging from gold to orange and rising higher and higher. Everyone was laughing and being really stupid. It was great. Then Chiron joined us after the song ended.

"Very nice! And a special welcome to our new arrivals. I am Chiron, camp activities director, and I'm happy you have all arrived here alive and with most of your limbs attached. In a moment, I promise we'll get to the s'mores, but first—"

"What about capture the flag?" a voice called out. Grumbling broke out among some kids in armor, sitting under a red banner with the emblem of a boar's head.

"Yes," the centaur said. "I know the Ares cabin is anxious to return to the woods for our regular games."

"And kill people!"

"That's not dangerous at all," I whispered to Jason who gave a snort in reply.

"However," Chiron said, ―until the dragon is brought under control, that won't be possible. Cabin Nine, anything to report on that?‖

It seemed as if every kid's eyes were suddenly on Leo's group, looking to them for an answer. They all seemed to be awkward and didn't know what to say. Leo shot finger guns at Piper and winked at me while his siblings shifted uncomfortably.

"We're working on it," one of his sisters said causing complaints among the campers.

"How, Nyssa?" an Ares kid demanded.

"Really hard," Nyssa sighed in exasperation and I wanted nothing more than to just help her.

Some others started to get a bit restless causing the fire to get a bit crazy. Chiron silenced them by banging his hooves and they immediately quieted in response.

"We will have to be patient," Chiron said. "In the meantime, we have more pressing matters to discuss."

"Percy?" At the sound of his name my breath caught in my throat. Could he be the boy in the flashback?

"I didn't find Percy," Annabeth announced, giving me anxiety at the lingering stares on the four fo us newbies. "He wasn't at the Grand Canyon like I thought. But we're not giving up. We've got teams everywhere. Grover, Tyson, Nico, the Hunters of Artemis —everyone's out looking. We will find him. Chiron's talking about something different. A new quest."

"It's the Great Prophecy, isn't it?" Drew called out.

"What's the Great Prophecy?" I questioned, once again getting ignored from all but Leo who gave me a confused smile.

"Drew?" Annabeth said. "What do you mean?"

"Well, come on. Olympus is closed. Percy's disappeared," there was his name again. The idea of it seemed to haunt me for some reason. "Hera sends you a vision and you come back with three new demigods in one day. I mean, something weird is going on. The Great Prophecy has started, right?"

I was quest able to notice Piper whisper something to Rachel, everyone else just staring.

"Well?" Drew called down. "You're the oracle. Has it started or not?"

I flinched at the harsh words, getting a feeling that I had some childhood trauma that didn't like yelling. (Anyone else hate Gabe?) Jason put a hand over my shoulder and I knew he felt the same way.

"Yes," Rachel said. "The Great Prophecy has begun."

Then there was chaos.

if i write this wrong at all please let me know. i will be happy to have someone who has had ptsd rewrite this to make it more realistic.

Yelling and terror and worried glances. I felt my breaths getting quicker under the tension and the world started blurring.

People became distant as the only thing I could see became memories.

I was in an apartment helping my mom make a dip for smelly Gabe. His friends were coming over tonight for poker, but I didn't like him or his friends much. And he didn't make mommy happy like he is supposed to.

We set the dip along with chips onto the table, next to the many empty beer bottles on the coffee table. But one accidentally fell.

Smelly Gabe freaked out and started yelling, earning a flinch from me. He broke the bottom of one of the bottles and lifted it up threateningly. I felt a tear spill down my cheek as he yelled at me, making Mommy mad.

"Run to the closet Dia," she said, "and take your brother."

I did as she asked and me and my twin sat in the closet together, holding the other as we cried. Sounds of slapping and breaking fought to take over the loudness of yelling as I cried into my twin's shirt.

He held me protectively as I shook. He knew when Mommy was gone I was the one who got the blows. He had to patch me up.

"I've got you Seashell," he said.

"I love you Aecor," I whispered as the yelling stopped when a knock came. His friends were here.

The two of us ran into our shared room to hide and ate in there with Mommy when she brought food. Both of us noticed the forming bruise on my cheek.

"Medea," she whispered.

"Medea!" I heard Leo desperately call out to me as I came back to Earth.

Everyone seemed to stare as if I was going to combust into flames any second from now. I swallowed hard and Leo looked at me for the okay before tightly hugging me.

"Is everything okay mi princesa?" he whispered into my hair and I shook my head no, causing him to hold me tighter. "Do you want to talk about it?" I once again disagreed.

When we finally pulled apart Jason lightly touched my arm, earning a flinch, and asked em the silent question. I have him a small nod to ease his conscience and looked to the others. I gave a gesture to carry on and tried my best to relax into the bench.

"For those of you who have not heard it," Rachel steered the attention away from me, "the Great Prophecy was my first prediction. It arrived in August. It goes like this:

"Eight half-bloods shall answer the call. To storm or fire the world must fall—"

Jason stood up suddenly and I didn't even realize that i did too. It felt as if something else was controlign my body as the two fo us exchanged a look.

"J-Jason? Medea?" Rachel freaked out. "What's?"

"Ut cum spiritu postrema sacramentum dejuremus," Jason chanted.

"Et hostes ornamenta addent ad ianuam necem." I finished. I felt as if I was going to faint and immediately knew that this was not going to be good.

I freaked out and turned to Jason, looking for answers, only to find he was doing the same. I covered my mouth with one hand as I looked around the group.

"You just ... finished the prophecy," Rachel stammered. "—An oath to keep with a final breath/And foes bear arms to the Doors of Death. How did you—"

"We know those lines." Jason winced and put his hands to his temples. "I don't know how, but we know that prophecy."

"W-we learned it together beca-because," I held my head trying to remember why, where, how, anything, but to no avail. "There's a reason." I finally sighed.

"And Latin, no less," Drew called out. "Handsome and smart."

"Now's no the time for flirting Drew," I snapped, causing Leo to come to my side and calm me down.

The entire Aphrodite cabin burst out in a fit of giggles as I rolled my eyes. As Leo kept me in check Annabeth did the same for Jason, I have the feeling she had to do it a lot with Percy.

We all looked solemn and I felt so out of place. Guess I'll be the outcast.

"Well," Rachel said, trying to regain her composure. "So, yeah, that's the Great Prophecy. We hoped it might not happen for years, but I fear it's starting now. I can't give you proof. It's just a feeling. And like Drew said, some weird stuff is happening. The seven demigods, whoever they are, have not been gathered yet. I get the feeling some are here tonight. Some are not here."

Clovis's head suddenly shot up from the deep sleep he was in and eh looked out of it. "I'm here! Oh ... were you calling roll?"

"Go back to sleep, Clovis," someone yelled, and a lot of people laughed. I even cracked a smile.

"Anyway," Rachel continued, "we don't know what the Great Prophecy means. We don't know what challenge the demigods will face, but since the first Great Prophecy predicted the Titan War, we can guess the second Great Prophecy will predict something at least that bad."

"Or worse," Chiron murmured.

I grabbed Leo's arm, needing something to anchor me right now. What have I gotten myself into?

"What we do know," Rachel said, "is that the first phase has begun. A major problem has arisen, and we need a quest to solve it. Hera, the queen of the gods, has been taken."
