42- I Attempt To Turn Zeus' Throne Into Kindling

********

The snake people of Athens weren't my favourite.

I wasn't particularly fond of snakes to start off with, but massive humanoid talking snakes was where I drew the line.

The snake King offered to take three of us to the Parthenon through the underground tunnels.

Piper sang a pretty song which got the snake to fess up that he was just going to hand us all over to Gaia. Piper said that she could keep the snake under control and the crew nominated Percy and Annabeth to go with her.

They would take out the Balisti, so that the Argo could fly in.

As soon as we could we did just that. We arrived to see Piper supporting Annabeth and Percy in a pile on the floor, all surrounded by angry Giants.

"I'll kill you all myself if I have to!" Piper yelled the the Giants.

"The thing is," Jason yelled as he summoned a storm, "you don't have to."

I shadow travelled off of the ship landing on the head of one of the Giants, who I stabbed in the brain several times, before jumping down and running off to fight another giant, with the first one hot on my heels.

"SURRENDER! YOU ARE SURROUNDED BY ONE SPANKING HOT WAR MACHINE!" Leo's voice boomed from the Argo.

The Giants didn't want to surrender. I ended up taking on Hippolytus, which- not trying to be a downer or anything- wasn't fun.

My sword was like a tooth pick and barley seemed to bother him. But every time he got too close to me there was a blast of light that threw the giant, backwards. My baby protecting me. This was pretty much the only reason I was still alive.

Rocks were being pelted from the Argo by Leo. But the Giants were bigger than us and stronger than us. We couldn't kill them

The seven of us who were on the ground were forced into a defensive ring. The Argo exploded above us after being hit by a fiery spear. I channeled my efforts into putting up a barrier around the seven of us to stop the Giants getting any closer.

"Percy, look out!" Piper yelled.

The Acropolis groaned and shifted as our nightmares came true. A drop of blood fell from Percy's face to the floor and Gaia rose.

I thought we were dead straight away. But the sky opened and out poured the gods.

There was Artemis in her moon chariot, riding next to Apollo in his sun chariot. He gave me a grin and a wink. At the head of the charge was Zeus. The bay doors of the Argo burst open and Nike zoomed out, taking her place as Zeus's charioteer.

Suddenly we were surrounded by the gods. I dropped my shield and we all charged.

Once again I was chased down by Hippolytus. What he had against me I didn't know, but I was pretty sure that I didn't want to die.

I heard a 'Whoop!' And a 'smash' I whirled around to see the giant face first in the muck, with Apollo sprinting towards me.

"Ri are you okay?" He asked, sounding concerned.

"Now is really not the time to be asking questions like that!" I hefted my sword and charged at the giant who had just staggered to his feet.

I had never seen anything like this battle. Gods and demigods fought side by side. The three fates were pumling the giant Thoon with bats. Piper was fencing with Periboia whilst Aphrodite threw rose petals and encouraged her daughter.

Yes it was a strange battle. And we were winning it.

I tripped Hippolytus who once again landed face first in the muck and Apollo took his chance to whack the giant around the head, whilst Hermes impaled his nemesis through the chest with his staff.

The giant disappeared into dust. Once all of the Giants were gone the demigods gathered in the centre.

Apollo and Artemis stayed in the shadow of the columns as if trying to hide from their father. I stayed with them. Talking to Artemis and holding Apollo's hand reassuringly.

When Zeus walked back in followed by Jason the rest of the Olympians fanned out to face him.

"Brethren," the King of the gods said, "we are healed thanks to the work of these demigods. The Athena Parthenos that once stood here now stands at Camp Halfblood, uniting our children and thus our own essences."

"There is still work to be done." Hera said, she spread her arms towards the demigods, as if asking for a hug, "but my heros, you have triumphed over the Giants, as I knew you would. My plan succeeded beautifully."

"Hera do not take credit for this!" Zeus bellowed at his wife, "you have caused at least as many problems as you've fixed."

"Please husband," Hera protested, sounding almost scared, "I only did what I..."

"Silence!" Zeus snapped at her, "you disobeyed my orders. However you were not entirely without wisdom."

"Apollo however..." Zeus turned towards where Apollo, Artemis and I stood, "my son you have defied me twice."

Apollo was almost hiding behind me and his sister at this this point, "my lord..." He protested.

"You neglected your duties and succumbed to vanity and flattery." Zeus ploughed on, "you encouraged your descendant Octavian to follow his dangerous path and you prematurely revealed a prophecy just because it included your wife, that may yet destroy us all!"

Apollo held onto my hand tighter. "But..."

"Enough!" Zeus thundered, literally the sky thundered and lightning forked its way through the sky, "we will speak of your punishment later. For now you will wait on Olympus." Zeus flicked his hand and Apollo was gone.

"What are you doing to him!" I yelled, ignoring the slight pressure in my shoulder from Artemis.

Zeus glared at me, as if considering if I were guilty too, the air pressure around me rose and began to him with electricity.

"Surely father," Artemis jumped in to stop Zeus from frying me. "We should attend to our more pressing issues."

"Gaia," Annabeth chimed in, "she's awake isn't she."

Zeus turned, "that is correct, blood was spilled. She is fully conscious."

"Oh come on!" Percy complained. "I get a little nose bleed and I wake up the entire earth! That's not far!"

"Complaining of unfairness is like assigning blame, Percy Jackson. It does no one any good. Now you must move quickly back to your camp before Gaia destroys it." Athena fixed Percy with a glare.

"Why would Gaia be back at camp? Percy's nose bleed was here!" Leo asked.

"Dude," Percy said flatly, "first off, you heard Athena, don't blame my nose. Second, Gaia is the earth, she can pop up anywhere she likes. She said the first thing on her to-do list was destroying camp."

"Question is, how do we stop her," Piper said.

"Um, my Lord, can't you gods just pop over the with us? You've got the chariots and the powers." Frank looked at Zeus nervously.

"Yes!" Hazel agreed, "we defeated the Giants in two seconds! Let's all go and..."

"No." Zeus said flatly. Eyeing me. "That is the problem with prophecies. When Apollo allowed the Prophecy of Seven to be spoken, and when Hera took it upon herself to interpret the words, the fates wove the future in such a way that it had only so many outcomes. You seven are destined to defeat Gaia. We the, gods and immortals cannot."

"Are you saying I can't go either?" I glared at the god. Clean hint my fists, "because if that's what you're saying it's utter bull..." I said a bad word. Kids, if you want some advice from me, you shouldn't say bad words to omnipotent gods of the sky. It tends to make them mad.

Zeus narrowed his eyes at me, "your part in the prophecy is completed. You must return to Olympus until I decide what to do with your husband."

"I swear that I'll..." I was suddenly in the empty Olympian throne room, "Gah!" I hit Zeus's throne with my sword repeatedly.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you," I turned to see that it was Artemis who had spoken, "look Ariadne, I will try my best to speak my father down from doing anything too extreme to Apollo. But if I am to succeed you must be in your best behaviour."

I didn't answer. I crossed my arms over my chest and huffed. "I'm going to camp halfblood weather he likes it or not."

"I am afraid I can't let you do that," Artemis told me. Once again I was zapped to a different place by a god.

Another update before I go off skiing! Not sure if I will be able to update for the next week.
