Brin's Boxing Gloves

Brin perked up after a couple of days. She began showing winter how she could craft amazing metalwork. Brinstarted a fire near the clearing and Constantly worked on Tinkering with tiny pieces.

Winter didn't like the fire, but she let the harpy girl show her what she was working on.

" This is a sword made of celestial bronze and human iron. It can shrink down to a cube of metal that fits in your pocket." Winter only had one question...

"How did you get the metals??"

Brin looked embarrassed. "I kinda stole some from the camp, I flew over the boundary and grabbed some old rusty weapons. I melted them down... and.... ya, this is the sword made from it."

Wow, Brin was good. She darn flew fast too. Maine to New York in 6 hours no plane is decent. The sword had a celestial bronze blade and bronze hilt, delicately molded with iron to form a swirling, endless design. "Can I try it out?" Winter asked.

Brian laughed. "Just not on me. Come on, let's go!" She charged ahead into the woods, and Winter followed. She felt good racing at top speed through the narrow woods. This should last forever! Elated, she leapt over a fallen log and kept running after Brin. It should definently last forever....

BUT IT WONT.

This voice filled her with terror. She felt her heart racing, and suddenly images flew through her mind- blood on the stones of a riverbank, A gruesome murder. She saw a metal dragon, and two giants in a colosseum.

THE HEROES SHALL PAY. YOU WOULD BE A VALUABLE ALLY, SO JOIN ME, AND I WILL SPARE YOUR LIFE. UNLIKE THE HEROES WHO DEFEATED MY SONS AND DAUGHTERS, YOU HAVE DONE NOTHING AGAINST ME. I WOULDN'T CALL YOU INNOCENT, BUT YOU WILL DO FOR MY SACRIFICE.

Winter thought she imagined the voice, but Brian stopped up ahead and wheeled around to face her.

"Did you hear that?" She asked.

"y...yah. It maybe came from up ahead." She was terribly shaken, she wanted to run back to the temporary camp. But if she did, the thing might hurt Brin.... and she couldn't live knowing she had cost her best friend her life. She ran in front of Brin and dodged a maple tree, looking for the source of the voice. Again though, she knew the voice was full of hate and radiated power. It would never give up pursuit of a victim until it was mortally wounded. She had never known such a malicious feeling....

They looked around forever. There was nothing. At the most they found a clearing full of wild oats and took some back to camp to see if they could make anything edible out of it. Brin checked around roots and across streams for the Thing behind the dark voice. I bet it's Darth Vader, she thought. She giggled aloud and Brin looked at her funny.
"Look!" Brain exclaimed suddenly. She pointed at a hole in a stone hillside type cave thing. You know, I'm not even gonna go into detail about what it sounded like, because it sounded like torments. And so I finally regained my senses in time to hear the light tread of footsteps. They suddenly became louder, faster, along with panting from inside the tunnel. Moans were heard after, like something was chasing it. Be ready, I mouthed to Brin. She unfolded her wings and grabbed a fallen branch as a club. I gripped my new sword, which I had decided to name Frostbite, tightly. The air seemed to get colder than normal as they kept closer to the tunnel.

A skinny boy with dark hair stumbled out of the tunnel, nearly giving me a heart attack. He looked startled to see two adolescent girls, and I nearly chopped his head off with Frostbite. As it was, one of his legs froze to the ground because I was scared. He fell to the ground and gasped, "Monsters. Hundreds. Unfreeze me and I will help you."
Winter unfroze his leg and he got to his feat. He took out a long, back sword that seemed to draw in the shadows and release cold into the air. He couldn't have been more than 17. The boy looked at the tunnel, heard the rumbling, and accepted the fact that me and Brin were here. "Get ready, now!" He turned back around to face the tunnel. And the first wave came out of the dark.

Monsters flooded out. She recognised A few from her mythology unit, like Cyclops and Centaurs. But a few she couldn't name or even put into words, like a woman with snakes for hair like Medusa, but one donkey leg and another gleaming metal.Or a seal dog toddler holding a jar of something -radioactive jelly?-in the air, positioning to throw it. The boy didn't hesitate, and waded into a herd of Centaurs. Jabbing with his sword in a few uncomfortable places, he made quick work of them until only three were left. "Are you just going to stand there?" He replied impatiently. Winter opened her mouth to reply, and a Centaur took a lucky swing at the boy's legs and knocked him down. Before he was trampled, she rushed in and swung at a Horse man with a brown beard and squared, Wide eyes. He blasted into dust, and at that sorry point, Brin charged into battle with... nothing? At first she thought Brin had gloves on, but then when little metal screws embedded themselves in a few snake Lady's faces, She realised that Brin had made interlocking gloves of metal, and she was kicking butt with them. She dodged, punched, and kicked at her enemies like they were alone in a boxing ring. A Cyclops bellowed and charged her and BAM! Winter cringed as Brin hit him where the sun dont shine.

The boy was up on his feet, darkness around him as he swiftly disarmed the seals and took the green vials carefully. Somehow, a fissure opened in the ground, and he dropped the vials in. An explosion of green fire blasted out of the crevice, but the boy sealed it shut and kept fighting. Winter didn't really know how to use a sword, so she kept swinging it at anything stupid enough to stay and fight. She looked around, satisfied that everything was either dead or back through the tunnel.

Brin was staring at the boy, her eyes asking dozens of questions. Strolling over, she faced the boy and asked a simple question. "What is your name, and why are you here?"
He frowned at the last part, then replied, "My name? Nico Di Angelo. Why I'm here? To make sure you know what's happening with the gods, like which Primordal is trying to kill us!"
