Schools Out Of Session! And So's Your Life!

A/N: Hello my wonderful readers! I know I haven't updated in a WHILE, and I apollogize! To make up for it, I have written a uh- 2600+ words for you all too read!!! 😃 👏 So enjoy!! (90% edited)

I was glad that the halls were empty, and that was because Peter had said that school starts at 7:30. It was 7:44, so we had just missed the rush. He said we were going to start by getting my schedule from the office.

"You must be Ashely Walker, our new student." Principle Morita says. "Here's your schedule, and we have already taken the liberty of collecting your school supplies." He handed me a box full of school related things.

"Don't forget to stop by the nurses office on your way out." He called as we left his office.

"What does he mean by that?" I asked Peter as we walked down the hall.

"I don't know," he replied. "But we'll find out at the end of our tour I guess." He shrugged and continued to show me all of my classes and where my locker would be. I was glad to find that it was close to his. The last thing he showed me was the gym, which was located in the basement, though there was an exit up to the main floor. The gym was big for a nerdy school, I'll give it that.

It seemed set up from some sort of obstacle course thing. A climbing rope, something like a high jump and climbing net were set up in the gym.

"What's all this for?" I asked Peter. He looked a little horrified by the sight of the gym. "What is it? What's wrong?" He swallowed.

"Um, nothing. It's just that on Monday it's going to be Test Day in the gym. Meaning it's like an obstacle course." He said. I didn't see what was so bad about that.

"I bet you do really good," I say, but he shakes his head.

"I would, I mean if I could. I was a nerd before I got my powers, so I still have to act like one. Otherwise everyone will either make fun of me for trying too hard or discover you-know-what." He said. I nodded. "Even though I could ace this course..." He looked longley at it, and suddenly I got an idea.

"This is the last thing on the tour right?" I asked. He nodded. "Well then I say we do the course right now. I mean, we've got time, right?" I ask. Peter takes out his phone and checks the time.

"Happy doesn't get back for another 15 minuets... I'm in!" He says cheerfully, running over to the high jump section. It was a cluster of bars, all raised at different levels. There were 5 of them, the lowest one as high as my knee caps. The highest one was taller than Peter, who was taller than me.

Peter sprinted up to the first bar and jumped over it like it was nothing, which technically, it was. Then he jumped over the second one, and then the third. The fourth one was about as tall as he was, but he had no problem scaling it. Then came the last one, which he leaped over with inhuman strength.

"Bravo," I said, giving him a mocking applause, though he just smirked. Then moved onto the climbing net, which he climbed up like a spider on a web. Though I think being part spider helped. Then he moved onto the rope, grabbing it with both his hands and shimmying his way up to the top faster then any normal person.

"So?" He said, walking over to me after practically flipping down from the ceiling and landing half squatting, half sitting position. "What do you think?"

"That was..." I tried to look for the right word.

"Amazing." someone said from behind us. I turned to look and almost jumped out of my shoes. A middle aged man was standing in the entrance of the gym slowly clapping his hands.

"C-coach Wilson," Peter stammered. "H-how much of that did you see?" He asked. Coach Wilson walked up and put a hand on Peter's shoulder.

"The way you made it up that net without getting tangled? The way you shimmed up that rope? That was- I've never seen you-" Coach Wilsom exclaimed.

"Did you see the high jump?" Peter interrupted.

"No why? Was it flawless like the rest of your performance?" He asked, with what might have been pure wonder in his eyes.

"Uh, no. Definitely some flaws. I uh," Peter cleared his throat. "I fell on my face." He said, and Coach Willson's face fell a little.

"Oh, well I'm still going to give you an A+ on tomorrow's assessment!" He said cheerfully. "Immagine what the other schools would say-" Peter punched him in the face, catching his limp body as it fell unconscious.

"What was that for!" I practically yelled. "He just gave you good grades!"

"Yeah, I know. And in the one class I fail in..." He mumbled as he dragged Coach Willson's body over to the climbing rope.

"Peter, you know you could get arrested for dragging a body." I said in a joking tone. He rolled his eyes at me.

"I punched him because he can't know about what just happened. If word gets around school, which it will, I bet you a bunch of people are gonna guess I'm you-know-what. I'm going to make it look like he fell from the rope, so when he wakes up he'll think it was all just a dream." Peter explained, and I couldn't help but think of how clever he was.

"Thats... wow." I said as he dragged me out of the gym.

"Now come on, we need to leave-" Peter started saying.

"No, wait. We need to stop by the nurse's office. Remember?" I said.

"Yeah, right. Let's go." We changed direction and bolted for the nurses office.

"Why are we running again?" I asked. Peter seemed to think on that, then slowed down his pace.

"I have no idea." He laughed. Then we entered the Nurse's office. As soon as we stepped inside, the nurse looked up at us from her desk.

"Ah, you must be Ashely Walker." She said, looming at me. Not gonna lie, this lady freaked me out a little.

"Here, here." She gestured for me to come over to her desk, where she was pulling out a small bottle of something.

Peter POV:

(Ik, I haven't switched POVs yet...)

I watched as Ashely walked over to Miss Marisa's desk, and picked up the bottle. I was back at the entrance of the room, so I didn't hear what they were talking about me. Just hushed whispers. But even with my enhanced hearing it was a bit hard to hear, because I was distracted but other things. Like my spidey sense ringing like crazy, and why I could hear a low hissing sound. And, if I looked close enough, it seemed as though some wrather large snake had crawled on the floors... make the two snakes. About a minute later, Miss Marisa and Ashely were done talking. Ashely walked back over, shoving the little bottle in her pocket with a scowl on her face. As I turned to leave, I could have sworn I saw Miss Marisa flick out a fork tongue.

Ashley POV:

I can't believe that woman! I can't believe what she's making me do! This is so unfair! I turned to look at Peter when he exited the building. He looked up at me as well.

"So uh, what did she want?" He asked, and I tried to refrain from calling her a μπάσταρδος. ('Bastard' in greek, at least according to google translate.)

"Well," I spoke through gritted teeth. "She gave me this." I said, pulling out the bottle from my pocket. "It has a dozen pills in it, and I'm supposed to take one every three days." I explained.

"What are they for?" He asked, and stopped myself from yelling a reply.

"The school knows I'm ADHD, so they basically wanna 'drug me' so I don't 'distract' the other kids by being all 'hyper'." I said using air quotes. Peter was silent for a moment, before snatching the bottle from my hand and stopping it flat. I was shocked for a moment, before I met his gaze. He had the same kind of fire in his eyes as I did. Before I could ask why he did that, he spoke up.

"You know my powers?" He asked and I nodded along. "How I can do things no other person can? Lift more than any average person? Stick to freaking walls? Well I have to hide all that, because before this happens to me- before I got these powers... I was just me. A nerd... a geek. And I was fine with that, I was. But now that I have to hide who I am, it just feels like-" He stopped walking and ran a frustrated hand through his hair. "... GAH!" He yelled and kicked a trash can on the sidewalk. Only it went flying about a meter ahead of us, and split into three pieces on the sidewalk. It was silent for a few minutes, before he spoke up.

"I-I'm sorry, I-I just, I..." He started to say, before I put a hand on his shoulder.

"Peter, it's ok. I get it. I mean I thought I was me my whole life, but apparently I-I'm part god." I tell him, and I watch as he relaxes a little bit. I'm about to speak again but my phone buzzes, and so did Peters. I pull mine out, and it's Happy on a group chat that's me, Peter, and him.

Arrow Girl:

Yea no kidding 👀

After Happy informed us that he would be late, we decided to go for some ice cream. But when we found no close ice cream shops, we doubled back towards a froyo shop we had passed a few yards back. As we walked in, there weren't many people there which was nice. After getting our yogurt, we took a seat at two bar stools, and started talking. A little about school, about the Young Heroes Project, about actually having the change to be a superhero. You know, just a few things like that. But then, as we were walking down the street I felt like something was watching us. But each time I turned around, there was nothing there. After a few minutes, Peter stops walking. He too had also been looking behind us, and I think he also knew something was off. Then he straightens up, and tackles me into an alleyway. I was about to yell 'What the heck?!' when I looked where we had been stand and-and... what the freak is that?

The figure was dressed in dark camo-patterned pants, with a dark blue overcoat. I could see the top of a red tie poking out from underneath the long coat. He had a face that sort of looked like a hawk, but a snarl was on his lips. Now, that may not sound like a reason to freak out, but if you just so happened to notice the giant scorpion tail coming from his behind, you'd start to panic. Then the thing turned to look at us, and stared with its two different colored eyes. Me and Peter looked at each other for a second, had a quick silent conversation, and ran further down the alley. I heard the man-thing start to chase us, but soon it sounded like it was running on all fours instead of on two legs. I risked a peak behind me, and almost froze.

There no longer was a man chasing us. It was a- a monster. The creature looked like a huge lion, but had a scorpion tail, and to make the experience even more freaky, it still had a human face. A shiver ran down my spine, and I put on more speed.

Peter was a good few feet in front of me, and we were coming up on a tall wire gate way too quickly. I was just wondering if we had time to turn back, when Peter scaled the whole freaking fence. I can't do that!

I look back at him, and we have another silent conversation. I was on my own for this, and Mr. Lion Imposter was closing up on me fast. Ok ok Ashley, think... how do I get over the fence... There! All of a sudden I got a rush of adrenaline, and the path became even more clear. I sprung into action.

There were brick walls on either side of us, and I spotted one brick that was sticking out further than the rest. I quickly jumped up onto a dumpster, and pulled out my bow and quiver. I locked an arrow in my bow, and jumped up to grab the brick. As soon as I grab it, I pull myself up so I had one foot on it, and the other keeping me balanced. I look at Peter, who's looking up at me with wide eyes. Then I look for Mr Lion and spot him jumping up at me, trying to knock me off the small 'ledge' with his paws. I was just out of reach, and I needed to shoot this arrow before I lost my balance. So, very carefully, I took aim, and shot my arrow.

Now, my original plan was to get up high enough, to shoot an arrow over the fence. But thats not what happened. You see, yesterday night I was playing around with my gift from er- from Dad, and I discovered a few things. 1) I never run out of arrows. 2) as long as I can think of it, the arrow can be it. For example, just now I had wanted to shoot a zip line from where I was, and swing down to Peter on my bow. But, seeing the Lion-Human thing below me, I figured why not try and kill it? So I imagined my arrow being flesh-piercing and a little explosive. And well... I guess it worked.

As soon as the arrow made contact with that thing, it punctured its hide, the tip going deep into its side. It roared and for a moment I almost fell. Then there was a weird gurgling sound, and the thing froze... then it fell down and turned into a pile of golden dust. I turned to look at Peter, and he didn't do anything for a minute or two. Just as I thought I had broken him, he leaped up and stuck to the wall just next to me. Then he grabbed my waist, and leapt down. We stood there for a moment, in the pile of yellow dust, until a car horn shook us out of our little dazed state. We both looked towards the sidewalk, and saw Happy's car honking at us. He rolled down the window and yelled at us to get in. We walked over, and as soon as we sat down, I broke out laughing.

"Ashley!" Peter exclaimed. "We could have died!" He yelled at my outburst, and Happy almost crashed the car.

"You guys almost diED!?" he Yelled. "Actually, I'm not surprised." He finished and Peter still was still looking at me. That just made me laugh harder, which made him laugh.

"I guess," I start to say between laughs. "Near-death experiences-" wheeze "-can be very, very funny." I say wiping my eyes. I watch as Happy rolls his eyes in the rear-view mirror.

"Just... save it for when we get back." He sighs, and switches lanes. Me and Peter just share a look, and make small talk the whole way back.
