Katniss was walking home from school. The wind rushed through her hair and the birds sang. It wouldn't be like this for long though. Pretty soon she would be locked up in her room with no food or water.

When she got in the door she ran up to her room and started on her homework. After finally finishing, she took out her diary and began to write.

Dear diary,

Today was normal. Got a beating from dad. I am currently safe in my room but I don't know when he will come up again. I wish I could leave and go live in Port Royal. I bet they would take care of me better then my real mommy and Daddy do. I just want to be loved.

Katniss

Katniss allowed a tear to fall onto her diary page.

"I wish I could have a real parent." She said.

She put her diary under her bed and picked up a book to read. She didn't see the faint light forming where her tear had fallen.

That night, Katniss lay awake in bed, listening to the T.V. downstairs. It was to loud for her to fall asleep but she knew better then to tell her parents that. She closed her eyes and remembered her wish. She fell asleep hearing the faint sound of waves crashing on a beach. "Wait a minute? A beach?!" Katniss thought.

She looked up to see that she was no longer in her small bedroom, but in Port Royal. In cold water. Katniss looked around, trying to process everything. How was this possible. Wasn't she in her bed just a second ago?

She got out and crawled onto the beach. She suddenly realized that she had no food, water, or money, and she was freezing. She wrapped her arms around herself to try and keep warm.

She began to walk around, hoping to find someone that could help her. After walking around for an hour, she came across a familiar building. She recognized it as the blacksmiths from Pirates of the Caribbean.

She began looking around frantically. Was this all real? She began crying. She was scared. She sat down and buried her face into her legs. She had asked for a parent, not to be stranded in a strange place.

She suddenly felt someone put there hand on her back. Instinctively, she flinched away.

"It's alright. I'm not going to hurt you." A soothing voice said. Katniss looked up and was shocked at what she saw. Will Turner was kneeling down next to her, rubbing her back.

"What's your name?" Will asked her in a gentle tone, as not to scare her.

"K-Katniss Smith." Katniss said.

"My name is" He started, but Katniss cut him off.

"Will Turner. I know." She said, shivering. Will looked at her confused. She was cleary not from here. So how would she have been able to know his name?

"How do you know that?" He asked.

"L-long story." Katniss said.

Will simply nodded. He realized how much the girl was shivering.

"Are you cold?" He asked. Katniss nodded and Will put his jacket over her shoulders. Katniss tried to stand but couldn't, due to her shivering. She collapsed but Will caught her in time. He held her close and Katniss pressed against him, trying to absorb his body heat.

Will took her back to the mansion. When he entered, Elizabeth was sitting on the couch reading a book. She looked up when she heard the door open. Her eyes immediately landed on Katniss. She walked over to her and tried to touch her. Katniss whimpered and snuggled closer to Will.

"It's okay. It's just my wife, Elizabeth. She won't hurt you." Will said, sitting down on the couch and holding Katniss to his chest. Elizabeth once again reached out and ran her fingers through the girls hair.

Katniss jumped but didn't flinch away this time. She looked up at Elizabeth. She was so beautiful. She had blonde hair and brown eyes. She looked like a real mother. Shaking a little bit, she crawled out of Will's arms and hesitantly wrapped her arms around Elizabeth, who gently picked her up and held her to her chest. She was still cold. She whimpered.

"Shh shh. It's okay little one you're safe here." Elizabeth cooed. She turned to Will. "Do we have anything that might fit her?" She asked. Will nodded and went upstairs to the bedroom. A minute later he came down with a small silver dress.

They stripped her out of her wet clothes and put her in the dress. Elizabeth ran upstairs and grabbedi a warm blanket out of the room. She came back down and wrapped Katniss in it. Pretty soon her shivering died down and Katniss seemed calmer.

She was currently asleep on the couch, her head resting in Will's lap. He ran his fingers through her hair and rubbed slow circles on her back. In her half tired voice, Will heard Katniss say something that he thought would be impossible.

"Luv you papa."
