Tamasvin
Embodiment of Tamas Guna, fierce warrior.

Princess Anya

Tamasvin entered the royal court, he had received a summon from the King early in the morning.

"Your majesty," He kneeled before the King.

"Rise Tamasvin," The King spoke. "There is something you must do,"

"Anything my Lord," Tamasvin replied with utmost sincerity.

"My daughter is going to go in disguise to understand in deep about our subjects." The King started, "And you are the most fierce warrior in the Army, who can be better than you for protecting her?" He added a small smile at the end.

Tamasvin nodded, and glanced at the Princess sitting next to the King, his face hardened when he she winked at him.

Obviously it was her idea that he become her bodyguard.

'Why wouldn't you leave me alone,' He thought staring the Princess.

Anya, the Princess stared at Tamasvin with love in her eyes, 'Why would you leave me alone,' she thought in her mind.

During a war two years, Tamasvin with mere 500 soldiers had defeated the enemy Army of 10,000 and saved their Kingdom. Anya had been an eye witness to his heroic deed and instantly fell in love.

She waited not very long and confessed her love, but Tamasvin had rejected her.

She was a Princess, the only child of the King, meaning she would be the Queen one day;
And he was a commander of the entire royal Army, a soldier born to die for the country.

How could they be a match?

Also, the King would have his head for even thinking about the Princess.

In two years, Anya made several proposals to him, trying to pursue him to accept her. And each time, Tamasvin had rejected her love.

At present, Tamasvin stared at her with an irritated expression on his face. He hated seeing her so vulnerable for him. For a Queen to be, she mustn't let her feelings stop her from duties.

"Tamasvin, there is another I wish to discuss," The King gestured him to stand.

"Yes, your majesty," Tamasvin stood up.

The King dismissed everyone, including his daughter.

"Tamasvin, I am not blind, I see the love my daughter have for you." He was straightforward.

"My Lord, I-" Tamasvin started his explanation, but was stopped in between by the King.

"Tamasvin, if you reject her proposal because of what I would think, then you must know that I would not mind having you as son-in-law," The King said.

"My Lord, your daughter is the Princess, and she must be married to someone who is worthy of the throne, not me," Tamasvin once again politely denied Anya's proposal, this time to her father, the King himself.

The King gave a huge sigh before allowing him to leave, his eyes carrying the burden of worry for his daughter.

He knew she was adamant, if she wished for anything she wanted it all costs. He was worried that she might forsake the throne for him.

"Princess Anya," Tamasvin said, bowing his head in front of her.

"Ahh, Commander Tamasvin," She grinned like a child, "You mustn't bow to me now, we are going in disguise, as friends, so call me by my name."

"Yes, Samyukta," Irritation in his voice was noticeable.

"Prithviraj," She giggled calling out his disguise name.

Tamasvin groaned in annoyance. She had purposely chosen such names.

When it came to duty, Anya was perfect. She observed keenly and wrote pointers. Tamasvin was impressed, but kept his thoughts to himself, only God knows how over-whelmed she would get if he complimented her.

After a whole day's tiring work, the two were sitting near a tree, when Anya suddenly turned to Tamasvin, "I have a few questions, if you answer them, I promise I will never bother you again."

Tamasvin, wanting to set free from her agreed.

"Why do deny my proposals? I am not worthy of your love?" Her voice was low and sad.

Tamasvin sighed, "It is because I think I am not worthy of you. You are to be the Queen, and I am unfit for a King." He replied.

"You don't have to the King after you marry me, you know," She reminded him. Tamasvin raised his brows, "How is that possible?"

"Well, when we get married," Tamasvin did not correct her for using when and not if.
"I will the Queen and you be the Commander, that's it. There is not need for King." She answered.

"Well, if I do marry you, then I am the King- that's logic." He countered.

"Not necessarily, even in history there has been Queen with their husbands as Army commanders and not Kings.
Like Maharani Chitrangada and Mahanayak Arjun," She answered, "Just marry me and be my Husband, you don't have to take burden of becoming a King."

Tamasvin did not reply, he sat there in complete silence.

A few moments passed, Anya sighed, she knew she wouldn't get an answer from him.

"You know, if you don't marry, then I, as a Princess and future Queen will ask you to take a vow of celibacy, that way if you are not mine, then you won't be of someone else." She spoke childishly looking at him.

"Really?" He asked mockingly.

"Yes, and even I won't marry anyone. For I am devoted to you, and only you in this lifetime. And if you accept me, then I want to be yours in every life." She said lovingly.

Tamasvin turned his face in the opposite side, he couldn't bear those lovely orbs of hers staring at him with sadness.

Few days passed, and like Anya promised, she only talked with him when it necessary. Absolutely no other talks.

Tamasvin did not know why, but he felt disturbed when she was near him but did not annoy him, almost as if he missed that.

He should have been happy that she stopped pursuing him, but it only bought him displeasure when did not pay more attention to him.

Was it Love?

Tamasvin grinned as he realized that the feelings he had for her were love, he jumped madly in his room. He immediately rushed over to Anya to confess his feelings.

"Princess Anya, I have a request." He spoke.

Anya was confessed but nodded nevetheless.

"Can I be your bodyguard? For the rest of your life? And if you accept then in all lives to come?" He proposed sitting in his knees.

"Yes," Anya chuckled through her tears.
