Chapter Thirty-Three: Chase

In the distance we see a wooden shack, hiding among the grown tress that covered it. As we draw closer too it, Liam rushes forward and was about to open the door, but Scott quickly grabs his shoulder, stopping his movement.

"Listen," he states, as we all began to listen in. A steady heart-beat came to our ears, we know it was Mason and he was alive.

"It's him," Liam states, his hand grabbed the wooden door and he opened it and rushes in-side, and I was on his tail as Scott and Theo were behind. We went down some stone steps that went on a small platform and more stairs went down.

"Mason?!" Liam whisper-yells, to see if he could get a response from him. As we came down the stairs and turned a corner, we see Mason on the floor, a device stuck into his nape. All of us rush forward to make sure he was all right, but the device that was connected to Mason, was connected to someone else in a tube, filled with green liquid.

"It's connected to him," Scott said, noticing that. I came forward and crouched down to the level of Mason, my eyes scanning the device on his nape.

"What is this thing?" Liam asks, frightened for his friend safety.

"I have no idea," I told Liam the truth, as my hand hovered over the device, seeing if it could be removed or if it would hurt him.

"Liam, I can feel it," Mason began as he began gasping and weeping. "It's in my skull," Mason was in pain, he was scared for his life. My hand dropped back to my side.

"Don't move," Liam warns Mason not to move.

"Careful," Scott told Liam, as not to do anything major that would hurt Mason.

"What are they doing to him?" Liam asks Theo as he knew more about the Dread Doctors than anyone of us.

"I don't know," Theo replied to Liam.

"Focus guys," I told them, this wasn't the time too pick a fight.

"Mason, we're gonna get you out of here," Scott told Mason, making him feel a bit more comfortable. Scott's eyes went to Liam. "Hold him still," Liam nods and holds Mason's shoulders. Scott moved his hand closer to the device.

"I'm going to try to pull it out... Let me know if it hurts," Scott states to Mason and he nods. Scott hand gripped the device firmly, and he began to pull ever so gently. Suddenly, Mason began to scream in pain.

"It hurts!" Mason groans loudly, but his breathing began to steady once again. "It definitely hurts," he told us.

"I barely moved it," Scott states his eyes cocking between us. Just then, clicking sounds came to my ears, making me cock my gaze behind Theo to see the head Doctor standing there. Theo slowly began to turn around, until he was met with the Doctor. Scott and I slowly began to raise from our crouching positions, as we edged closer to Theo.

"They wanted us here," Theo states, as our heads whipped around to see another one of the Dread Doctors appear out of thin air.

"Liam, try to get that thing out of Mason's neck," Scott said to Liam, but then a clanking sound came to ear, as a cane of sorts was slamming onto the ground as the head Doctor known as the Surgeon came.

"Theo..." he began, his voice distorted. "Theo Raeken," the Surgeon came into our view.

"He's coming with us," Theo was strong with his comment.

"Failure... Theo Raeken," the Surgeon went on to say, making me bite my lip from smirking...

"I'm not a failure," Theo shot back, to him he wasn't a failure, he was just misunderstood. God, now I'm defending him...

"Not a complete failure. We learned from you," the Surgeon states to him, as he comes to a stop just in front of us.

"Theo, he's trying to get to you," Scott announces to Theo, but I think it was working. "This is what they want, don't give it to them. We can't beat them," Scott states knowing we couldn't as they were stronger than them and myself.

"The mark of a true failure. Repeating the same mistakes again and again," the Surgeon's voice was distorted due to the mask he was wearing.

"We're taking Mason," Theo states strongly as his head had turned slightly to look at Mason and Liam. "Then I'm taking what's mine," Theo threatens him, his face now in his wolf-form, his eyes glowing their yellow colour before growling at them. "Let him go," Theo took a few steps closer to the Surgeon, trying to be all hard.

"You have the entitlement and narcissism typical of your generation. In that, you are a profound success," The Surgeon states to Theo, but then we a scream pierced the air making us all cock our heads to Mason.

"Scott, I... I can't get it out. I don't know what to do," Liam was in panic mode, and Scott rushes over too them both to see if he could help.

"But your failure taught us one thing. The banality of evil. That you were and would always be an ordinary evil," the Surgeon was laying into Theo was his old wordy banter...

"You think I'm ordinary?"

"We believed that to resurrect the perfect killer we had to start with the perfect evil. From you we leaned true evil only comes by corrupting something truly good," the Surgeon states as they didn't want an evil that was current, they wanted to corrupt a good soul to make the perfect evil...

"Not something," Scott began as my gaze went to the three of them.

"Someone," I answered for them, as this wasn't good. Just then, I hear metal being hit by a fist, and I turn to see Theo throwing punches at one of the Doctors. My gaze went to the Surgeon, and I quickly thrusted my hand out to him, and he was suddenly jolted back, but he was still slightly immune to my magic. He recovered quickly, and held his hand out as electricity began to generate at his finger tips. Just then, a loud high-pitch sound came rushing into my ears, making me clamp my hands to my ears. I screw my face up in pain as it was loud, I fell to my knees, it was like my brain was being popped. I scream in pain as I felt blood begin to drip from my ears, and onto my palms, but my hands stayed clamped to my ears. I squeezed my eyes shut for a moment, and the high-pitch sound began to die down. My eyes peeled open to see the fight that was breaking out between Theo and the Surgeon. Soon enough the high pitch sound was no longer ringing in my ears, but now was replaced with screaming.

Suddenly, I felt two firm hands grip my shoulders and pulled me up into their arms. My hands dropped from my ears, as I knew Scott had pulled me up, as he had a distinctive grip. All our eyes were on Mason who was standing and screaming through the pain as he grips the device on his nape and was pulling it out. Mason had pulled the device out of him and his gaze was on us all, but the Dread Doctors had stopped fighting.

"Transformation..." The Surgeon began, his eyes on Mason as darkness generated from the ground and began encasing Mason's body in it. "Transformation without frequency," Mason was no longer going to be in control of his body.

"Mason!" Liam yells from the side of me, his tone worried for his friend. Mason eyes travelled up to meet our gazes, but they were glowing like the Beasts.

"That is not my name," he spoke in a distorted voice, making a shiver go down my spine as he was now fully covered in the darkness, and within seconds the shadow grow and appeared from the darkness was the Beast, roaring through the shack.

Oh shit...

The Beast rampaged through the shack, and attacked the one of the Doctors that had attacked Liam and Scott, making the three of us dodge out of the way, and huddle together. The Beast stalks over to the other Doctor, and grips him by the neck and raised him up a pole. The Beast growls and used his clawed hand to go to the Doctor's head and with one effortlessly push, rips the head clear off as the blood splatters out. The head of the Doctor clanked on the floor, rolling a bit in front of Theo and the Surgeon. The Beast drops the headless body to the ground and Liam shifts back into my hold as I went back into Scott's, we were all amazed but mostly frightened right now...

However, the Beast wasn't done, he stomps over to the Surgeon, striking Theo out of the way before impaling the Surgeon with his claws in his stomach and drags him to the exit and they went outside. Scott, Liam, and I stare at one another with wide eyes, before we all quickly stood to our feet and headed for the same door the Beast took.

Once we were outside we see a flames shining through the night, and see Parrish jump in the air before hitting the Beast in the chest. But suddenly, gun shots rang out making me cock my head to the source to see Chris and Gerard. Chris pumps the shotgun again and fires as it hits the Beast, but he moves over a small wooden bridge, trying to escape. However, Chris kept firing at the Beast hoping it would wound it enough. But swirls of darkness began to form all over the Beast, engulfing him. Once the darkness had faded, a man was crouched before raising too his feet.

Sebastien...

"La Bete du Gevaudan!" Gerard yells, his voice soaring through the night air. "I know your name," I see Sebastien head turned to the side, his dark gaze on Gerard. "Do you remember mine?" Sebastien nostrils flared in hate, like he was smelling Gerard, his lip twitching in anger.

"Argent," he replied in his thick French accent before running away into the night. Parrish growls and goes after Sebastien in hopes to catch him. Scott, Liam, and I rush forward to Chris and Gerard.

"Who the hell was that?" Scott asks aloud, wanting a answer out of the Argents.

"You've seen the Beast of Gevaudan. That was the man," Gerard responded to Scott's question, but this was the first time in seeing Chris and Gerard since I gotten my memories back. I had to tell them the truth. The truth what happened all those years ago...

"Sebastien Valet," I spoke up, Chris and Gerard's eyes had darted over to me in a flash, wondering how the hell I knew that. I turned myself a bit towards the Argents... "We'll have to talk at some point," my tone serious and my expression dead on.

But this wasn't the right time to talk about the past. If we don't live to see tomorrow...
