Chapter 43 ~ Battle

     • The Princess •

"CHARRRGE!" I shouted. The knights rode around me, swarming the room. Metal clanged against metal and spells were being cast in a frenzy. I slipped through to Sithra and Onix. With the same dagger that saved my life, I cut them loose and saved theirs.

"I need to carry these around more often." I grinned to Sithra, showing her the blade.

"Thank you." She hugged me. I froze. Was this what having a friend felt like?

"Marie." Onix stood and came over, looking down. "They have the rain, Marie."

"Then let's get it back." I slammed my fist down on the table.

"Arg!" The professor pushed the knights away as his brother kept them back with blasts and flame. He slammed his hand down on a button and a door opened. Hundreds of strangely genetically altered creatures crawled on the walls and came down on the knights.

"We have to get out of here!" Frenhu shouted, blood trickling down his nose. "The building is unstable!"

"The beasts will take care of them." He laughed and dragged him out the window.

"Cmon!" I waved to the sorcerers. We ran through the wave of knights and bots, bursting outside.

The vast plain awaited us, but the two brothers weren't anywhere ahead. I ran around the corner of the building, but Frenhu was waiting and blasted fire around the side. I ducked out of the way and pressed my back against the wall.

"There're over here." I whispered when Sithra and Onix caught up.

"Marie, what happened to your leg?" She looked down, remembering my trip.

I smiled and waved my hand dismissively. "It's fine, we have a healer in Luanth who put a splint and wrapped it up."

"The fire stopped." Onix noticed. We peeked around the corner.

"You told me the princess was dead!" The professor grabbed Frenhu by the cloak and slammed him into their wagon. "You idiot! Now you've ruined everything!"

"Me?!" Frenhu shoved him off. "If it wasn't for me, those knights would have killed you!"

"You're right." He backed away, emotionless. "Why don't you give the only thing standing in our way a proper greeting, hm?"

"They don't stand a chance." He snarled, furiously charging over to the corner.

"Butio!" Sithra threw her hand at the wall and it collapsed. Frenhu stepped over the rocks and faced her.

"Now we end this!" He roared.
