CHAPTER FIVE
THE BEGINNING

TAKING a deep breath after bracing herself for whatever would happen when her plan went left. Fixing her veil softly knocking on the familiar brown door, she knew there was no turning back. A voice answered from the other side of the door permitting her to come in.

Letting out a shaky breath, Halima twisted the knob stepping into the spacious office with brown plane documents stacked carelessly on the shelves and papers scattered all over the desk. Nasir looked up at the person who had walked into his office raising a brow when he met eyes with Halima's.

Nazir Abdulqadir stood at 6'2 with a clean shaved face standing on the light skinned side. He had the pinkest lips that were bigger than they needed to be due to him sucking it to look pink. Overall he was good looking to halima but her best friend, Namisha always questioned how she could find him attractive when she had a husband like Khalifa.

"Is there something I can help you with Mrs Abdullahi?" Nasir's eyebrows were still raised tucking his bottom lip in his mouth waiting for a response. He didn't really know her personally but she was one of favorite subjects the staff spoke about. He scanned her outfit which was a simple brown gown with a Gucci belt around her waist and a black and gold rado on her wrist. He had to admit, she dressed well.

"I was sent to work on this with you- I mean I could do it but I just wanted to inform you first not to put you in a predicament." She rushed out causing him to chuckle shaking his head dismissing the thought reaching his head out for the folder. Halima's eyes widened quickly walking over to him handing the it over stepping back whilst he examined the papers.

"Ramla sent this?" Nasir averted his gaze from the papers to her making her eyes snap up from the floor to his. She was obviously nervous that she was in the same room as him with his status and all considering she knew he had paper. His family was known for money and it seemed he also got his.

"Yes. She said you were the best at it. I don't really know anything really..." she trailed off preferring to stay quiet because she had a problem of keeping quiet when she started talking and that's not what she wanted to be taken as. A blabbermouth.

Placing the folder on the desk, he laced his fingers leaning back in his chair in thought. This action only made her more nervous than she was wondering what was going through his mind. Was he going to turn it down? Or would he flat out say no kicking her out of his office?

"We'll start working on it tomorrow." He declared shifting his attention back to what he was working on beforehand. Halima nodded taking a cautious step forward picking up the folder turning on her heel walking out of the office closing the door behind her hoping this was a step closer to him someway.

She blew out a breath going through her contacts clicking on his number facetiming him. He answered after three rings his face illuminating the screen. She was happy to see him angling the camera to her face cheesing into the camera.

"Someone looks happy to see a guy." Was the first thing he said laying his head back looking like he was in bed. She wished she could just join him on the bed being that she missed being wrapped up in his arms and she just wanted to rest.

She wasn't the person to work but she wanted a career for herself, at the same time do nothing to get it. People would look at her some type of way when they knew what she was saying. Khalifa could provide her close to everything she wanted but not everything she wanted. She loved Khalifa but money also matters in a relationship. Excess money.

"Considering I haven't seen or heard from you for 24 hours." She playfully rolled her eyes causing him to faceplam forgetting about calling her back. He was busy for the whole day and he just came back and showered when she called.

"I completely forgot. Sorry about that. I've been busy." He gritted earning a nod from halima as she closed the door to her office sitting on her desk biting her lip.

"Nah it's okay. How is everything there? Did you eat?" She questioned crossing her legs waiting for a response and blowing up on him if he didn't. Khalifa didn't really care about eating food when he was by himself but when he was provided with the food, he ate.

"Yeah. They delivered it minutes after I arrived. Definately wife material." Khalifa unconsciously ran his tongue over his bottom lip usually when he was up to something mischievous. Halima could only offer a loopsided smirk with only one thought in her mind.

"You are not slick. I'm already your wife watchu talking about?" Halima said completely off her mind cocking her head to the side earning a hearty laugh from her husband causing a brief smile make it's way to her face.

"Yeah you right. But if I did have another wife, you would be the second." He smirked when she rolled her eyes not bothering to reply letting him know it was getting to her for some reason or she was thinking of a comeback. "What about Nami?" Khalifa wouldn't lie, he missed his family. He would jump on any opportunity to go home.

"Well, I had to calm her down after you left, she started crying hysterically for more than ten minutes. I'm still recovering from the headache." She placed her hand on her forehead. "But I think she faced facts because she was back to her peppy self after." Halima finished smiling at the thought of her daughter.

"She missed the nice parent." Khalifa let out a breath like he was bothered causing Halima's smile turn into a frown offended.

"Excuse me, she came out of my va-" She didn't have the chance to finish when Khalifa let out a breath as a laugh making her scrounge her eyebrows in confusion wondering what was funny about what she was saying or the situation. "What's funn-" Her face paled when she heard another voice in the background.

"Mahh I told you." Khalifa chuckled before the sounds became muffled. Taking a deep breath feeling embarassed she said that on the phone when his mother was listening to her. She pushed her lips together ready to go off as soon as he picked up the phone. Khalifa's face reappeared seconds after with a blank look whilst she stared at him like a hawk about to snap any minute from now.

"So you let your mother in on our conversation? Matter of fact, how is she in Kaduna?" Halima asked confused as to why his mother was with him in Kaduna when she lived all the say in Lagos with his sister.

"She came for a wedding apparently and was happy enough I was there to become her chauffeur." As soon as the words came out, Khalifa was smacked at the back if his head earning a giggle from halima from his facial expression. Rubbing on the spot he was smacked, Khalifa's expression turned blank knowing she was enjoying every second of it.

"Who is feeding you then? Does that make me your cook?" His mom squinted her eyes at him with her hand on her hip. From Halima's point of view, she could only see his mother's arm and the side of her sons face that looked so attractive to her shamelessly ogling him. He ran his tongue over his lips letting out a laugh shifting her attention to his lips. Would she sound like a hoe if she said she wanted to feel his lips on hers right now?

"That wasn't something you were supposed to-" he cut himself off mentally facepalming himself when he saw her facial expression looked more pissed off than before. She was offended. So he was going to talk behind her back to his wife he met for five years, When she gave birth to him and raised him and all those sleepless nights just for him to say that.

She crossed her arms over her chest quirking a brow waiting for him to finish the sentence. He placed his phone on the bed standing up easily towering over his mother hugging her. "Mahh you know you're my number one." He pulled back licking his lips smiling down at his mother slightly amused by her actions.

Her eyes were still squinted before smiling lightly before she smiled widely contented by what he said. "I'll let that slide. Your wife is waiting." She reminded walking out of the room leaving him to wonder how she never got hot under those lace bubu's with excess stones.
