In the City of Love
A/N: This is a rather important chapter. With lots of important details. The plot is definitely moving forward. Be prepared.
That night Luke tried to sleep but one thing repeated over and over in his mind making sleep difficult. The bloody body on the ground, his friends being murdered, and lastly Lilly dying. He still questioned whether or not it was another vision that the mirror had shown him or a trick.
Luke awoke for the second time that night after watching Lilly die once more. Why was this torturing him? Why was this repeating over and over in his mind?
He sat up. He wasn't going to get any sleep tonight. Why was he having these visions in the first place? Was it because of the tomb? Was it "the mummy's curse"?
Dozens of questions filled his head, giving him a splitting headache. Maybe Emily would know what to do.
Luke crawled out of bed and left the room without waking the other guys. He went across the hall and knocked on the door. Emily opened it, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes.
"Do you need something, Luke?" She mumbled.
"Sorry to wake you, Emily, but somethings been bothering me." Luke told her all about the visions he started experiencing when he entered the tomb. Emily's eyes went wide when he told her.
"Luke, you're a seer." Emily told him. Luke looked at her confused.
"I'm a what?" Luke questioned.
"A seer, a human with the ability to see the future. The mirror was most likely a trick, but that first vision you told me about is probably true." Emily stated.
"Wow..." Luke mumbled, taking the information all in. Emily continued.
"Visions happen when you come into contact with a supernatural object or creature, right?" Luke nodded.
"I'm almost positive that your a seer." Emily said. "Now if that's all, I'm going to bed." She shut the door in Luke's face.
Luke shrugged. Now that he knew that the mirror was probably a trick maybe he could finally get to sleep.
The next week flew by as the friends went sightseeing wherever they could.
On Friday morning, the friends decided that they would finally go to the Eiffel Tower as it was the last day that the potion was going to need to completely finish boiling.
Emily pulled Luke aside as they were eating breakfast one that morning.
"Today's the day, Luke." Emily told him. He looked at her confused.
"Today's the day to tell Lilly how you feel."
"What?! I can't! There's no way. I just can't!" Luke spluttered, shocked at her words.
"Luke, the stars told me through a reading that if you don't tell her today then someone else will steal her away from you. You don't want that, do you?" Emily questioned.
"Well, no-"
"Then man up and tell her how you feel!"
"What if I ruin our friendship? What if she hates me?"
"She's not going to hate you and your not going to ruin your friendship." Emily told her friend.
"Emily, what good is it going to do if I tell her. We're already looking for her true love." Luke looked down.
"Luke, I have a theory. I don't think that her true love is that one person out there who completes her and even if it was it could be you. I think it's that one person who truly loves her and that she truly loves back. And I know that's you." Emily stated.
"What if she doesn't?" Luke asked. Emily slugged him in the arm hard.
"Stop thinking about the what ifs! Just tell her how you feel already!" Emily exclaimed, which was very out of character for her.
"Alright, I'll tell her today when we go to the Eiffel Tower."
"You better."
Luke shivered. He was nervous. Words could not express how nervous he was. Throughout the rest of the day all he could think about was what what he promised Emily he would do.
"Hey, guys," Luke addressed his friends (excluding Lilly). "When we visit the Eiffel Tower can you give Lilly and I some space?"
"What, are you finally going to tell her how you've liked her since 7th grade?" Michael laughed at the thought. There was no way Luke was actually going to do it.
"Actually yeah that's exactly what I was going to do." Luke stated. Michael started to laugh even harder. "What?" Luke asked.
"Nate, I bet you twenty bucks that he chickens out." Nate shook his head at Michael's proposal.
"No way. There's no way I'm losing twenty bucks over this."
"You guys really don't have faith in me, do you?" Luke questioned his friends.
"I do! I bet she'll say that she loves you too, you'll date..." Olivia started to drone on about how adorable their kids would be.
"Sorry, Luke, but you've never been good at these things. You've never asked someone out, or told someone that you like them. Every time you chicken out." Jade said, honestly.
"I haven't done it that many times. Just you wait. I'll do it."
"Well, we were planning on going to the Louvre around four. Why don't you do it then?" Tyler stated.
"Alright, I will."
After an about an hour ride in a taxi they arrived in Paris.
"Hey, we're going to go to the Louvre first." Jade told Lilly.
"That's not really my thing." Lilly said. Luke and Jade smiled.
"Well, then do you want to go to the Eiffel Tower with me? It's on your bucket list isn't it?" Luke asked.
"Yeah, it is. You remembered." Lilly smiled. Luke nodded.
"Of course." The two walked down the streets of Paris away from their friends.
After a couple minutes and an elevator ride later they were at one of tower's observation decks.
"Wow, the view is great from up here." Lilly looked out over the city of Paris.
"Yeah, I think I'm going to puke." Luke said as he turned away from the sight. Smooth move, Liten. You're in one of the most romantic places in the world and you're talking about how it makes you want to puke. Good job. Luke mentally face palmed.
Lilly snorted with laughter at his statement.
"Out of all the things in the world that's what you choose to say." She laughed again. "Classic Luke." She shook her head.
"At least you find it funny." Luke mumbled.
"Hey, I'm just telling the truth." Lilly smirked. Luke smiled, forgetting the height. After a moment Lilly broke the silence. "So you're a seer."
"What?! How did you know?"
"Emily told me. Why didn't you tell me? I thought that we told each other everything?" Lilly said.
"It's not like I didn't want to tell you. I just didn't know what to say or when to bring it up."
"I bet that being a seer is pretty cool. Do you think that you inherited it from one of your parents?"
"I don't know. I would probably guess so. It's not like it's just appears out of nowhere. My parents always seemed so... Normal, though." Luke concluded.
"Maybe skipped your parents generation. Like a hidden gene or something."
"Maybe." Again they stood in silence looking over the city of Paris.
This is it. Luke thought to himself. Now is the time to tell her. He opened his mouth to speak but Lilly beat him to it.
"Can you believe that just a month ago we weren't tangled up in all this magic stuff? Sure, we had a little of fun with Emily's tricks but that was never a huge adventure. We're in Paris, France for crying out loud. Crazy, huh?" Lilly speculated.
"Yeah, crazy."
"But soon enough it'll be over."
"Yeah about that. How do you feel about having to find your true love?" Luke asked, awkwardly. Lilly sighed.
"I don't know. I don't need a guy. I just need to get out of this mess. Whatever fixes it I guess."
"Oh... Yeah that seems like you." They went quiet for a couple more seconds. Luke took a deep breath and gathered all the courage that he could muster.
"Lilly, there's something that I need to tell you." Lilly turned towards him.
"Okay, what is it?" She looked him right in his eyes. He felt like his heart might've stopped when she looked directly at him with her bright, sea blue eyes.
"I-I-I-" Luke stuttered. She had caught him off guard by looking him in the eyes. It was electrifying.
"You?" Lilly asked. Luke could feel his heart speed up. He felt his face heat up.
"Are you okay, Luke?" Lilly asked, concerned. Luke's face was as red as Cecilia's hair.
"Yeah, I'm fine."
"Go on." Lilly encouraged, sweetly.
"I-I was going say-" Luke was interrupted by the Star Wars main theme. Lilly smiled.
"I'm just going continue." Luke said, ignoring his cellphone. Lilly nodded. "Where was I?"
"You have something you want to tell me?" Lilly told him.
"Oh right. Anyway, Lilly, I really-" His cellphone would not stop bugging him.
"Maybe you should get that. It's okay. I can wait." Lilly told him. She smiled politely. Luke picked up his phone and walked a few feet away. He had his back turned to Lilly now.
"Hello?" He asked as he answered the phone.
"Did you do it?" Emily's voice could be heard coming from the device.
"No, not yet. I was about to until you interrupted." Luke hissed.
"Sorry, but Olivia would not stop pestering me about it. She wants to know."
"Well, now you can tell her."
"Alright, I'll let you get back to business. Good luck, Luke."
"Thanks, Emily, bye." Luke said.
"Bye." She hung up. He turned his phone off as he turned around.
"Sorry about that. As I was saying-" Luke was cut off by shock. She was gone.
