Smoke fills my lungs, 

Waters my eyes,

Makes it hard to breathe,

Ashes spot my dress,

Stains so black and pure it hurts.

The queen besides me smiles a dark sort of smile, 

One that should scare, a smile that should repel,

Instead it draws me nearer,

Into a scar that cut and traced this firey being, 

Who watches the world burn.

Destruction and Chaos a comforting lull to the sting of the blade. 

She turns to me and says, 

"Quite lovely isn't it?"

"Why of course, the flames that burn suit you well." 

I respond to her, the truth,

a truth that scares and scars us.

The Queen turns and flicks her hand,

slender fingers beckoning me and I follow,

I turn, watching a single tear slide delicately down her face.

Tonight he shall burn, but so shall a part of her.

He betrayed her and he hurt her, but tonight his justice was served.

I slip my hand inside hers, 

"It is time to celebrate, my queen." 

We walk away, the flames silhouetting, the shadow of a wide eyed girl, 

Who grew up to fast in a world of darkness. 

A pity maybe, that we lost that wide-eyed girl,

but a triumph it was when the  firey temptress took her place.

I smile and turn back to the fire,

"Do not look, my dear." She coos.

"Your era for madness will come soon enough,"

Her hand on my face is persuasive.

We descend into darkness,

The temptress with hearts on a stake leading our path, 

While I, the dutiful princess, try to pick up the pieces of the shattered in the queen's wake.
