Chapter 13
6 months before
"Doctor, this had better work." A hushed voice sounded beside me. I tried to open my eyes, but to no avail. I struggled against the pitch black in my mind.
"It vill." A heavy accent bled into my ears. I strained against the leather cuffs on my wrists.
A hand touched my cheek. "My darling." Devan's voice hit my ears. "Calm."
"Dev, help me! Help me please!" I whimpered.
His breathing faltered, but then his hand was gone. I couldn't see, my breathing was becoming limited. I was choking, there was no air, there was no anything. I needed him. I needed light. The pain.
Then I felt it. The needle had pierced my arm. As the pain shot up my arm, a numbness settled over my body. I was drowning. I was flying. I was free.
-------------------------------------------
"Devine." A tender hand stroked my cheek. "Wake up."
I mumbled something, and slowly opened my eyes. I glared up into the dark brown orbs that held me captive. "Devan."
"How do you feel?" He looked hopeful. It was as if I was supposed to be magical now.
"Tired." I whispered.
His smirk dropped and he released my cheek. He paced back and forth, before grabbing something on the counter.
"Crimson."
Against my will, my head snapped up, at full attention. I looked at the wall straight ahead of me, and a coolness settled on my person.
"Death."
My eyes narrowed and I was filled with a strength I had never known I had. Tearing my arms from where they were tied down, I stood and looked Devan in the eyes.
"How did you find me." I commanded.
His face melted into a smirk. "I can always find you."
------------------------------------------
"Run! Tuck! SHOOT!" The drill master's screams sounded around my ears. I did as told. Dead center. Deadly shots.
Devan and the other men watched in horror and slight amazement. I killed with ease and with determination. There was no stopping. No finishing. I was the victor.
"Devine!" Devan called as I strode back to them.
"Yes?" I grit out.
He walked around me as though I was a slab of meat to purchase. I growled low and loud at the man. His eyes lit. His hands ran over my taunt body and I bristled at his touch.
"Don't touch me." I caught his hand as it roved my body carelessly. The men above us watched with smirks on their faces.
"I can touch you where ever, and how ever I should please." He smirked as his left hand swung at my face. The resounding smack and the stinging sensations made me drop to my knees. "There, there." Devan leaned down and caught my hands. "My darling, we have unfinished business." His eyes spoke of what awaited me that evening.
I curled my body into its self. "Devan, don't touch me." I ordered.
"I can and I will." He yanked at my clothes.
"Dev, the men." I whispered in horror.
"Oh they won't mind my darling."
I felt my soul leave my body as the men walked down slowly. So this was it. This was to be my fate. A whore. A prostitute. Used for her assets.
A shudder ripped through me as I let his hands touch me. My mind screamed for help. My body released my soul and my person was liken unto dead.
I looked at Devan with cold, dead eyes. "You can't do this to me." My resolve was thickening. I felt a power like none other surge through me and I picked Devan up off of me and rose up, holding him by his precious throat. "I told you to not touch me."
He gasped for breath as I threw him down into the ground. My body was shooting fire from within, and I was seething.
"Doctor!" Devan wheezed.
I heard something get fired, and then a sharp pain pierced my back. I looked to see the doctor and Hank. And a gun.
I slumped down.
"Beautiful work doctor." Devan's voice was heavy.
"I have done it!" The doctor's thick accent was clouding my already fogging brain.
"Done what?" The man, Hank's, voice floated in.
Right before I lost conscious I heard the last words from the vile doctor's mouth. "I have made a monster!"
