Chapter 11
Ahsoka just sat in silence in her cell for the rest of the ride. It was frustrating, not being able to do anything. She knew she could easily break out of her cell and escape the ship, but she couldn't because of Lux. The old her would've left without a second thought, not caring what happened to him, but she wasn't that person anymore. She was changed, and it was all thanks to Lux.
Instead of devising a plan to break out, Ahsoka spent the time trying to figure out what she'd do once she was inevitably brought to face Sidious. She would probably have to fight Anakin, and she wasn't sure she'd be able to. He had practically raised her from the time she was 14 until just a few weeks ago. Even when possessed by the dark side, he had cared for her, always making sure she had everything she needed.
He had never abandoned her, and she couldn't abandon him now. She knew there was still good in him, she had seen it, heard it. Now all she had to do was break the shackles of the dark side.
Suddenly, she felt Vader's presence outside her cell again. The ray shield deactivated, and he walked in, placing cuffs on her.
"We're here," he said before turning and leading her out of the cell. A soon as she was out, she saw Lux slumped over, presumably unconscious. The only reason he wasn't in a pile on the ground was because he was being held up by two stormtroopers.
"Lux!" Ahsoka cried out as she tried to make her way to him. However, she was stopped when a hand was placed on her shoulder. Vader looked into her eyes, seeing the pain and sadness evident in them. Anakin was fighting to break free, to console Ahsoka and tell her it was okay, but it was a losing battle.
"He's alive... for now," Vader said sinisterly. "Now come. My master is waiting for you."
Vader led the duo to an Imperial transport ship which would take them to meet the Emperor on the Death Star (still the first one, and still under construction). They made the trip in silence, Ahsoka refusing to talk to Vader. Instead she tried to think of ways to bring Anakin back.
Vader remained silent for another reason. He was fighting his own mental battle with Anakin Skywalker. The former Jedi was pushing harder and harder to break free, and Vader wasn't sure he'd be able to hold on much longer. He managed to push Anakin back down for the time being though, and soon they had reached the Death Star.
Vader rose from the pilot's seat and motioned for Ahsoka and the stormtroopers holding the still unconscious Lux Bonteri to follow him. They made their way down the ramp, and started walking out of the hangar.
Ahsoka heard a mumbled groan next to her, and turned to see that Lux was waking up. He slowly opened his eyes and looked around.
"W-where am I?" Lux said. His words were slurred because he had just woken up.
"We're on the Death Star," Ahsoka replied.
"Ahsoka...?"
"Yes, it's me Lux. I'm right here," the togruta replied waving her cuffed hands in front of Lux's face.
"Wh-what's a Death... Star?" Lux asked.
Before Ahsoka could replied, Vader butted in. "It's the top secret space station that was commissioned by the Emperor. It is currently under construction, but when it is complete, it will be able to wipe out an entire planet with just one blast. The entire galaxy will kneel to the Empire or be destroyed!"
Lux looked dumbfounded. A weapon of this sort was unfathomable to him. He looked to Ahsoka for confirmation, and all she did was nod sadly.
"You won't get away with this!" Lux shouted.
"Oh, is that so? Well who's going to stop us? The Jedi... oh wait. I, or more accurately, she has made sure they won't be a problem," Vader said motioning towards Ahsoka. The girl looked down and away, ashamed of what she had done. Vader continued, "Or maybe your precious rebellion? A rebellion that's not even powerful enough to take down a single legion of our stormtroopers?" Vader laughed.
Lux hung his head. He knew there was no way to stop the Empire.
"Now enough gloating, we're here," Vader said opening a set of doors. The trio made their way in and saw Sidious sitting on an elevated throne in the middle of the room. He was facing away from them when they entered.
"Master," Vader started, "I have brought Ahsoka Tano and the blasphemous senator."
"Very good my friend," Sidious said with an evil laugh. He finally turned around to face the trio, and they saw his face. It was a sickly white color, and his face was very wrinkled. His teeth were black and they looked about ready to fall out. He got up from the throne and walked down to meet them.
"So at last we meet little Ahsoka Tano," Sidious hissed. He placed a wrinkly, white hand on her cheek, and she immediately shook her head away. This made Sidious let out another twisted laugh. "You are a feisty one." Ahsoka remained quiet, which seemed to displease Sidious. He was trying to incite an anger induced reaction out of her, but so far he was failing. He wasn't done just yet though.
"Nothing to say? What happened to that snippy attitude that granted you your nickname, hmmm? Snips, the name your master, Anakin Skywalker, used to call you. A man that is long gone, with no hope of returning." Sidious could see and feel the anger building up in the young togruta.
"You're wrong!" She snapped back. "Anakin is still there!"
"Oh but he is not my child. All that is left is my apprentice Drath Vader, Anakin Skywalker was weak, and I made him powerful!" He could feel anger and rage and pain and sadness– all the emotions he wanted her to use– exuding off of her.
"There is much anger inside of you young one, much hatred. I have seen what you can do, and I must say I am impressed. You run through legions of my troopers like they're nothing, and you've put countless Jedi out of commission for me, which I thank you for."
"That's not me anymore! I'm different now!"
"So I've heard. This pitiful senator has brought the light back out, but I still sense a streak of dark within you. Join me and reach your full potential! I can show you the true power of the dark side my apprentice never could!"
"NEVER! I will NEVER join you!" Ahsoka shouted in reply.
"Your thoughts deceive you. Strike down your old master and become my new apprentice."
Ahsoka reeled in shock. She had not expected this, she expected Sidious to have Vader kill her to prove his loyalty. She never could've dreamed he'd want her as his apprentice instead. Apparently Vader thought the same, as shock and betrayal were written all over his face.
"But Master–" Vader was cut off.
"No. There can only be two, and you violated that rule. For that, you will no longer be my apprentice." He turned back to Ahsoka. "So young Tano, what will it be? Will you join me and reach your full potential?" He reached his hand out for Ahsoka to take.
Ahsoka hesitated for a moment. All the power, it could be hers. She could become the most powerful person in the galaxy. She could overthrow Sidious and rule by herself. She began to reach for his hand...
OOOOOOO cliffhanger 👀
